Michael P. Dooley, 70, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

He was born April 12, 1954, to Walter and Helen (Lonergan) Dooley in Moosburg, Germany.

On November 23, 2006, Michael married Sandra L. Beedle. She survives of the home.

Michael enjoyed riding horses with Sandra, fixing things, and supporting his favorite teams, the Chiefs and the Royals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Helen Dooley; brother, Walter Lonny Dooley; sister, Patricia Duryee; niece, Lisa Riggs; nephews, Sean Fox, Tristan Riggs and Kealan Riggs; and step-son, Brandon Updegraff.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Dooley; sons, Anthony Lopez (Brandi) and Ryan Dooley (Sarah); stepchildren, Michael Updegraff (Haily), Dusty Updegraff (Liz), Kevin Updegraff (Rachel) and Stephanie Updegraff; brother, Bobby Dooley; and many grandchildren.

Deanna Rose Kropp, 85, Country Club, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024.

She was born November 7, 1938 in Yankton, South Dakota, to Lloyd and Rose (Glazer) Gallagher.

Deanna married William “Bill” Lee Roy Kropp on March 10, 1955. He survives of the home.

Deanna was a true servant of the Lord. She ministered with Bill for 17 years in the Salvation Army, then they later joined Central Assembly of God Church, where Bill was a pastor for 17 years. In all, they ministered together for 60 years. She found fulfillment reading the Bible daily.

She also taught preschool and kindergarten in Hiawatha and at South Park Christian Academy and St. Joseph Christian School. Later, she was a bookkeeper for Fellowship House men’s ministry in St. Joseph.

A very loving, caring mother, family meant everything to Deanna. She loved being with her grandkids, either at her house or going on vacations together. She also enjoyed playing the piano and organ, gardening, sewing, crafting, and painting. Deanna also loved to cook and bake. Her Christmas cookies and chocolate chip date nut cake remain treasured memories for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Gallagher; and grandchildren, Victor Kropp and Avery Rose Tucker.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Bill; children, Rosella Hagar (Tracy), William Brian Kropp (Cynthia), Angie Grider, Kevin Kropp, and Ann Glidewell (Jim); numerous foster children; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Richard Gallagher (Donna), Sandra Fitting, Michael Gallagher (Diane), Jeanne McNabb, and Linda Hanus (Gary); numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.

Kenneth W. Andrus, 70, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024.

He was born November 28, 1953, to Kenneth A. and Dallas J. (Noland) Andrus in Beckley, West Virginia.

He graduated from Faucett High School in 1973 and later attended Missouri Western State University, where he studied dentistry.

Kenneth joined the United States Navy in December of 1972 and served until 1978 during the Vietnam War Era.

In 1998, he began working for Home Depot, where he remained until his retirement in 2014.

Kenneth had a talent for playing piano and guitar, and he enjoyed singing karaoke. He also liked working in his garden, doing yardwork, mowing the lawn, watching cooking shows and Westerns, and playing cards.

Kenneth had a good heart and great sense of humor, often teasing his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Dallas Andrus, and infant sister, Brenda C. Andrus.

Survivors include his sisters, Barbara Grider (Michael), Rhonda Andrus and Regina Reece (Rick); nieces and nephews, David D. Dennis (Krissy), Brenda S. Dennis, Derek W. Hanway (Kelly), George E. Ellen Eskridge, 96, of Dearborn, MO passed away at a healthcare facility in Maryville, MO on September 30, 2024.

She was born on August 4, 1928 to Robert and Kathleen (Means) Ray. Ellen grew up in Deaborn where she graduated high school.

On September 9, 1950 she was united in marriage to Jim Eskridge. After their marriage they lived in Dearborn where they made their home. Her husband, Jim, preceded her in death in 2009.

She was a member of the Dearborn Methodist Church.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 60 years, Jim; daughter, Kathy; grandson, Justin; a great-granddaughter, Grace.

She is survived by her sister, Jane (Ernie) Harris, of Dearborn, MO; sons, Steve (Janila) Eskridge, Graham, MO and Chris (Pam) Eskridge, Dearborn, MO; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Douglas Shannon Switzner, age 91, passed peacefully following a short illness. His family was with him at the time. His life was well lived, and he was well loved. He is joining wife and best friend, Dana, who he lost three years ago.

Doug was born in Skiatook, Oklahoma on June 7, 1933 to the late Jack and Opal Switzner. He attended Javine School and Skiatook High School. During this time, he worked in his grandfather’s ice cream shop. Ice cream was always a favorite food. After graduation he attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&amp;M, where he met his future wife and lifelong best friend Dana Lou Williams. They were married December 19, 1953 in Miami, Oklahoma. He later attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a Masters degree in Agriculture. He taught high school and then became a Soil and Water Conservationist. He was president of the Missouri chapter of the Society of Soil and Water Conservationists.

Doug was in the Army, both active and reserves until an honorable discharge as a Sargent in 1962. He was proud of his service carried a copy of his discharge in his wallet the rest of his life. Doug was frugal and this also helped with discounts.

Doug had a passion for fishing. Though he and Dana liked spening winter in Texas, they were always back by trout season. He spent many days fishing and teaching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren how to fish. With all that fishing, fish fries were a family tradition that he also passed along to his children and grandchildren. Dominoes were another pastime Doug enjoyed. His partners, unfortunately, did not always have as good an experience.

Doug was a member of First Baptist Church of Cassville, Missouri. He was Sunday School teacher. His favorite hymn was #303, “Count Your Many Blessing”. And he did.In addition to his parents and Dana, Doug is preceded in death by his sister Walsie Hulsey and grandson Andrew Horning. He is survived by children: Daniel Stephen Switzner and wife Janet of Smithville, Missouri; Diane Lynn Switzner and husband Michael Horning of Leeton, Missouri; David Solomon Switzner and wife Peggy of Warsaw, Missouri. His brother Benny Switzner and sisters LaRue Hassell and Deborah Looper live in Oklahoma . His sister Flossie Selby lives in Missouri. He has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Byron Eugen Cruse, Jr. was born September 29, 1945 in St. Joseph, Missouri and grew up in White Cloud, Kansas. He was born into a large family of Cruses and Fosters. He was the oldest of his mother and fathers’s children. Family and friends called him Little Barney. &nbsp;

He developed his work ethic early in life by being the first one to wake, chop the firewood and light the fire. At the age of 10, the mayor of White Cloud caught Little Barney driving Grandpa Maylon’s pick up. The mayor sent him home to park his grandpa’s pickup and told him to never get caught driving it again.

&nbsp;In the teen years, Barney developed his skill in basketball. He attended Highland High School and was named Kansas All-State in basketball. Then it was off to Highland Jr. College, but in Barney’s words he was too smart for school, and got drafted into the Army. He was an infantryman and heavy equipment operator. He served in the Central Highlands of Vietnam.

&nbsp;Upon his return to St. Joseph, Barney was a fireman until he relocated to Omaha. Barney, now Byron to his Omaha friends, became an over the road truck driver. As he neared retirement, Byron opted to become an Omaha city bus driver. He retired in June 2012 and still loving the road, roamed the country in his RV. Following heart surgery in 2017, Byron chose to stay put in Lincoln.

Clara Esther (Reeves) Henderson, born January 3, 1940 in Lexington, Lafayette County, Missouri, died September 28, 2024 in her home.

She was born to Ermel Edward Reeves, Sr., and Matinza Eva (Maynard) Mackie.

She was the ever-loving wife of Leonard Henderson of 55 years, being together 56 years. Having one daughter, Sheila Henderson, together.

She worked at the St. Joseph, Missouri, Mental Hospital for 30 years before retiring due to health reasons.

She leaves behind her loving husband; 5 children; numerous grandchildren; brother, Dr. Delmar William “Bill” (Sharon) Reeves; niece, Ann Reeves; numerous nieces and nephews by marriage; and her faithful dog, Ellie.

She loved to argue politics with her oldest son Edward Mautino and loved her son Micah Henderson deeply.

Tammi Utz, 60, of Gower MO, lost her hard-fought battle with cancer on September 29, 2024.

She was born on May 26, 1964, to Eugene Gordon and Wanda Lee (Bray) Utz. Tammi grew up on a dairy farm in Gower, MO and graduated from East Buchanan High School.

Tammi was currently working as a heavy machine operator for Operating Engineers Local 101. She had also worked in animal pharmaceutical in St. Joseph and had been a para for the East Buchanan School district. She had also worked in animal pharmaceutical in St. Joseph and had been a para for the East Buchanan School district. Everett Milton McMillian 83, of Rushville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024 at his home. He was born April 5, 1941 in Dearborn, MO, son of the late Ruby and Joe McMillian. 

He graduated from Faucett High School, &nbsp;and served in the United States Air Force, then the Missouri Air National Guard for 23 years, he also worked at Friskies Pet Foods, retiring after 32 years of service. &nbsp;He enjoyed raising livestock and his donkeys, going to auctions, and spending time around his farm and family. 

Everett was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Joe and Doug McMillian, and a sister, Sandra McMillian. 

Survivors include: daughter, Michelle McMillian, St. Joseph, MO, son, Michael McMillian, De Kalb, MO, grandchildren: Kayley (Dylan) Morgan, Calvin McMillian, Porter Gardner, and Garrett McMillian, great-grandchildren, Rylan, Blake, Waylon ,Cooper, Kinsey, and Owen, brother, Jim McMillian, Windsor, MO, and a sister, Emma Wood as well as several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

He was born April 28, 1974, to Mark and Cathy (Messner) Alsbury in Albany, Missouri.

He worked for I &amp; M Machine and Fabrication Corporation as a laser operator for several years, and he also worked as a window tinter for Midwest Tinting and Audio.

Christopher enjoyed cooking and watching football and baseball. He loved the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Cathy Alsbury.

Survivors include his daughter, Christina Bears; nine grandchildren; and his significant other, Shaunna White.

Born in St. Joseph, MO December 4th, 1931 to Fred and Georgia (Cottrill) Sutter.

She attended Cathedral School, the Convent of Sacred Heart, class of 1950 and Gards Business School.

She was a member of the Cathedral Catholic Church, the Alter society and Convent Lunch Bunch. A past member of Legion of Mary and Legion of Mary Auxiliary, a Charter member and past President of the Women In Construction.

She was a retired bookkeeper for Ace Dewey Construction, E.L. Crawford Construction (22 yrs) S.M Construction, Family Concrete and Joe Modlin Construction.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Jeanette, and brothers David Sutter, Bro. Denis Herman Sutter, F.S., nephew Robert Sutter, and niece Jeannette Sabatka.

Survivors include her brother Aubrey Sutter (Annie) from Chesapeake Bay, Virginia, and several nieces and nephews. Also, her special children Dylan, Jesse and Josiah Gibson

She wanted to Thank all her friends who helped her, so that she could stay living in her home on her own.

Clara Lee (Schneider) Archdekin, 90, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024.

She was born March 11, 1934, to Homer and Ethel (Harr) Schneider in Clarksdale, Missouri.

She graduated from Central High School and later attended Gard’s Business School.

On September 11, 1954, Clara married James “Jim” M. Archdekin in Cosby, Missouri. They were married for nearly 68 years before Jim passed away on May 1, 2022.

Clara worked for Quaker Oats in the accounting department for two years before joining her husband as the bookkeeper for their family businesses, Bill &amp; Jim’s Service and Eastside Auto Supply. She retired in 1992.

Clara enjoyed travelling with her husband and their family. They embarked on many adventures throughout the years, but their favorite destination was their cabin at Lake of the Ozarks.

Her family remembers her for her quiet demeanor and ornery streak. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Ethel Schneider; husband, Jim Archdekin; infant daughter, Janet Lee Archdekin; and siblings, Delores Maag, Rosemary Archdekin, Naomi Easter, Elaine Hill, and Fred Schneider .

Shirley was born on May 18, 1958, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Rollie and Darlene Janice (Higbee) Stewart.

She worked for Wathena Schools as a custodian and nursing homes as a nursing aid.

Shirley married Lynn A. Handley on June 25, 1981. He survives of the home.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 infant siblings.

Wilma Rose Ryan-Nagle 93, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday September 27, 2024 in a Savannah, MO.,  health care center. She was born December 15, 1930 in Brunswick, Missouri, daughter of the late Beatrice &amp; Troy Routon Sr. 

 She attended Benton High School and managed the Topsy's popcorn store at the East Hills Mall. Wilma enjoyed nursing and taking care of the little animals in her neighborhood, and she was a really good cook. 

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Troy Routon, Jr., sisters, Verna Farris and Leota Robbins. 

She is survived by sons, Dennis and Wesley Ryan of St. Joseph, MO, and daughter, Sheryl (Ronald) Kendall of Rosendale, MO., grandchildren:  Michelle (Shawn) Duncan-Jackson, and Michael Kendall, great-grandchildren, Preston, Chantel, and Jessica, and a sister, Carolyn (Richard) Campbell of Neosho, KS. Ms. 

Nagle will be cremated under the care of the Rupp Funeral Home.

Wilma Rose Ryan-Nagle 1930 - 2024

Ronald E. Wiedmaier, 75, of Easton, MO passed away at home on September 26, 2024. He was born to Gilbert Sr. and Letha Wiedmaier (Cooper) in Saint Joseph, MO. 

At the age of 19 Ronald joined the Air Force and served as a Jet Engine Mechanic for a total of four years and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He spent two years and three months overseas during Vietnam and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air and Space Commendation Medal, and the Air and Space Longevity Service Award. He was honorably discharged after four years.

Following his enlistment in the military Ronald became an Ironworker with Local #10 out of Kansas City where he retired from in 2007. He was also a lifelong farmer.

Ronald was preceded in death by his father Gilbert Sr., his mother Letha, sisters Janet Haverkamp, and Yvonne Pfleiderer and brother’s Francis, Wilfred, Edwin, and James. Survivors include sisters Nancy Garton, and Diane Crouse, and brothers Robert, Gilbert Jr., and Donald.

Visitation will be held at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel in Saint Joseph, MO on Wednesday October 2, 2024 from 5-7pm. Graveside services and interment with full military honors will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 2pm at Saint Mary’s Cemetery on the grounds of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Easton (Hurlingen), MO.

Ronald "Rolo" Wiedmaier 1949 - 2024

Hubert Eugene Edmonds, 91, of Weston, MO passed away peacefully at his home on September 23, 2024. Hubert was born December 21, 1932 in Kentucky, to Eugene Edmonds and Rebith (Glass) Edmonds. 

He grew up in Smithland, Kentucky. He was drafted into the United States Army. While stationed at Ft. Leavenworth met Charlotte Gordon Carter, in Weston, MO. They were married in Corinth, Mississippi on November 29, 1955, and were married for 62 years, until her death in 2018. They settled in Smithland Kentucky, where they welcomed their son Danny Richard on July 26, 1957 and Tina Beth on October 23, 1958. 

They moved to Weston, MO in 1962 and he worked at the Weston Elevator. He later worked as a sheet metal mechanic for TWA and retired after 27 years. Hubert loved living off the land and enjoyed gardening and was an avid fisherman and hunter. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte; son Danny; son-in-law, Tim Dragoo; brothers James “Cooter” Edmonds and Tom Edmonds; sister, Doris McDonald; nephew, Marty Edmonds. 

He is survived by his daughter, Tina Dragoo of Weston; 4 grandchildren Carmen Lamar, Jason Dragoo, Abby Rose, and Tyler Dragoo; 6 great grandchildren Garrett, Trevor, Kellen, Addison, Alex, Clara.

 Following cremation, a private family inurnment will take place at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Weston, MO. Memorial contributions can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which was dear to his heart.

Hubert Eugene Edmonds 1932 - 2024

Doris Fuston, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 22, 2024. She was born January 7, 1938 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Forrest and Minnie Aughinbaugh.

She graduated from Lafayette High School after being an avid Roller Skater earning bars and medals in Dance and Figure Skating. Later she became a teacher and taught at North Andrew R-6 for 21 years.

As a member of Ashland United Methodist Church, she was active in the United Methodist Women and sang in the Chancel Choir.

Sewing clothes, wedding dresses, quilts, and cake decorating were her hobbies as was knitting, crocheting, and reading. She also loved camping at Roaring River State Park with her family and special friends, the Moyer family.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Garold Fuston, son Garold William Fuston Jr., brothers Forrest Dale Aughinbaugh and infant James Earl Aughinbaugh, sisters Amelia Rosa Lee (Walt) Younger and twin sister Delores (Ron) Jacobs, and great granddaughter Lynlee Marrs.

Survivors are daughter Annette (Lance) Marrs, son Dennis Fuston, grandchildren Anne (Sean) McKisson, Landon (Rachel) Marrs, and Brittany and Allison Fuston. Her great grandchildren are Samantha and Rebecca McKisson, Presttyn, Payssyn, and Parkker Fuston, and Layton and Loren Marrs. There are also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

James Louis Birdsall, Jr. 81, Bolckow, Missouri; passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at his residence.

James was born on August 5, 1943 in Weld County, Colorado to the late James Lincoln and Hilda Mirilda (Patterson) Birdsall.&nbsp;

Mr. Birdsall spent his career as an auto mechanic.

James was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed elk hunting and fishing. He loved to read and read all the Louis Lamour published books.

James is survived by his son, James Dean Birdsall (Anne); two daughters, Jannice Marie Birdsall and Judith Ann Green (David); grandchildren, Jeremiah, Becki, Jeffrey, Krystal, Jackie and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Katie, Andrew, Peytin, Heath, Benjamin, Alainna, Callen, Alexis, Anna, Samuel, David and Jonathan; siblings, Dorothy, Bud, David, Hilda, Fred and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his great-grandson, David; siblings, Betty, Bertha, Shirley, Donna, Alice, John and Danny.

Mr. Birdsall has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel.

Lanny Earl Jones Sr. passed away at the age of 83 on September 25, 2024 at Oregon Care Center, Oregon MO. Lanny was born on April 20, 1941 in St Joseph, MO to the late Earl Albert Jones and Peggy James Jones. 

On December 14,1959, he married the former Joyce Pixler. They were married in Georgia and had been married for 64 years at the time of his passing. He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1959. He joined the Army after high school and served 9 years. During his time in the Army, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Expert Badge w/ Rifle Bar. He was stationed in Germany, Korea, and Texas. He moved his family back to St Joseph and continued his Army career by working at the Military Enlistment Processing Station in Kansas City, MO as a recruiter and career counselor. On December 11, 1967, he was in a car accident that left him disabled as a paraplegic.

In his younger years he was an avid golfer. &nbsp;He won numerous Junior City Championships and the Caddy Tournament. He also played golf in the Army with high ranking officers.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

He enjoyed watching sports on TV and working in his yard.

Lanny is survived by his children Sheila Jones, Vicki and Gene Bradley, Lanny Jr and Michelle Jones.&nbsp;

Grandchildren Natalie and Jarod Pharis, Lindsay and Chris Lewis, Gunnar Davies, Kyle and Katie Bradley, Matthew Bradley and Shanda Pankau, Allyson and Ryne McNeely, David and Katie Jones, Kristin Jones and Rob Keegan, Brian Jones, and Sara Jones and Regan Butts.

Great Grandchildren Liam Pharis, Riley Roberts, Bristol Bradley, Carter Jackson, Cole Bradley, Graham McNeely, Oliver McNeely, Bennett Jones, Olivia Jones, Avery Keegan, Emma Keegan, Owen Keegan, and Drake Flanders.

He was proceeded in death by his brother Garry Jones and granddaughter Molly Davies.

Sharon was born in Atchison, Kansas on October 25, 1939, the daughter of Donald Francis “Pete” and Virginia Lucille “Lucille” (Kasten) Thompson. She had one brother, Donald F. and two sisters, Carol S., and Patrica A. “Patty.” She graduated from Atchison High School in May 1956.

Sharon and Lloyd E. “Gene” Gibson, married September 1, 1957, at the first Christian church of Atchison. They were married for 60 years before Gene’s death in 2018. Together Sharon and Gene were the proud parents of three children, Randy, Tamra, and Bradley “Brad.”

Sharon devoted her life to her husband and raising their family. She enjoyed being a homemaker and mother, family camping, spending time crafting, and swimming for exercise. She was a long term and avid member of the Atchison YMCA. As her family grew, she took her grandchildren to swim with her at the YMCA.

Survivors include Randy E. and Lisa Gibson and Bradley A. and Dorothy Gibson, as well as nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Sharon is preceded by both of her parents, husband Gene, daughter Tamra E. Gibson (2016), brother Donald Thompson, and sisters Carol Willming and Patty Chapple.

Robert “Bob” W. Falk, 72, Eureka Springs, Arkansas, passed away Monday, September 23, 2024 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

He was born December 1, 1951 in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Darrell and Shirley (Bratt) Falk.

Falk, 72, Eureka Springs, Arkansas, passed away Monday, September 23, 2024 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.He was born December 1, 1951 in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Darrell and Shirley (Bratt) Falk.Bob was a design engineer for Southwestern Bell and AT&amp;T for many years.He was an avid collector of many things, a muscle car enthusiast, and loved the outdoors. In his early years he enjoyed golfing and scuba diving.Bob was a Mason and a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hollister, Missouri.A caring person, Bob was a hospice volunteer in Arkansas and also enjoyed spending time with friends and family.He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Carolyn S. Falk.Survivors include his three sons, Eric Falk, Jeffrey Falk (Leslie) and Christopher Falk (Hannah); grandchildren Madison, Blake, Adalynn, Parker, and Kinsley Falk; brothers, John Falk (Melanie), and Tim Falk (Tonya); sister, Teresa McGee (Larry); nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
