Alice Cordelia “Billie” (DeBord) Sommer, 103, of Oregon, MO, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025 at the Oregon Care Center, Oregon, MO.
She was born in Skidmore, MO on August 29, 1922 to Mark M. and Naomi Rachel (Simerly) DeBord. Alice graduated from Savannah High School in 1940.
Billie married Neil Sommer on August 22, 1941 at Troy, Kansas. They welcomed three children; Sandra, Edward, and John, to this union.
Billie was a cook at the South Holt School cafeteria for 28 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Oregon United Methodist Church, UMW, HIW Club, and Friendly Circle Club.
Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Neil; her parents, Mark and Naomi DeBord; sisters, Lorena DeBord, Genevieve Collison, and Marjorie Hollingsworth; and a great granddaughter.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Kammerer; sons, Edward (Rita) Sommer and John (JoEllen) Sommer; eight grandchildren, Karma (Brit) Phillips, Brad (Cara) Steele, Collette Null, Lori Ripley, Tyson (Katherine) Amos, Shannon (Travis) Roby, Lindsay (Michael) Breadon, and Jared (Michaela) Sommer; 12 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Oregon United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour before the services. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon. Memorials may be directed to the Maple Grove Cemetery, the Oregon United Methodist Church, or donor’s choice.
