Tony Haley, 71, Cosby, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023.

He was born March 29, 1952 in Cosby to Edward and Charlene (Maag) Haley.

Tony married Barbara Jo Crown on July 6, 1991. They shared 32 years of marriage.

He was parts manager at Walton Motors in Savannah, Missouri, for 30-plus years.

Tony enjoyed reading, listening to music and drinking beer. He especially liked having family and friends over to hang out.

A friend said of Tony, “In my memory, visiting Tony was always a celebration of life. He will be missed.”

Mary Anne Kessler 1947-2023

Roger William Andres passed away on July 7, 2023, in Maryville, Missouri. Born on January 20, 1939, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Roger lived a life full of service, love, and laughter.

Roger attended Christian Brothers High School and later earned his associate degree. Roger's professional life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his country. He retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force after 22 years of service, including a tour during the Vietnam War. Following his military career, he continued to serve his country in civil service for 10 years. His patriotism was a cornerstone of his identity, and he was a proud member of the VFW and Elk's Lodge. During high school, he had a passion for working with cars and was a member of the Road Knights of St. Joseph.

His greatest joy came from serving his country and community. He was a proud American, often sharing stories of his tours in Alaska with a twinkle in his eye. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his precious grandchildren, who lovingly described him as ornery and stubborn.

Roger was known for his generosity, selflessness, and kindness. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and care for others. His love for teaching and training other service members while in the Air Force was a testament to his commitment to mentorship and leadership. His legacy of service, both to his country and his community, will be remembered by all who knew him.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen (Rodgers) Andres, his brother, Edward Andres, and his brother-in-law, Angelo Scalisi.

He is survived by his loving wife, Manuela; their children, William Andres (Sandra), Robert Andres (Teresa), and Cecilia Gallagher (Doug); his siblings, Robert Andres (Lola), Helen Jo Gilley (Fred), Sheila Scalisi, and Carol Johnson (Don); seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Eugenia L. “Gene” Snider, 84, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

She was born on October 22, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois to Joe C. and Eugenia (Leighton) Chatman.

Gene attended Kansas State University, and later worked as the chief clerk of probate for the Buchanan County courthouse. She recently worked part-time helping attorney Todd Griffee with probate paperwork.

She was married to David Floyd Snider, who preceded her in death.

Gene enjoyed playing bridge at the Senior Center, where she also attended “luncheon chat and chow” meetings with her friends. She was a board member of her neighborhood HOA and a member of the Red Hat Society. She was an avid supporter of the Robidoux Resident Theatre, where her children often perform.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Eugenia; husband, David; daughter, Jacque; and brother, Joe Chatman.

Survivors include her children, Steven Snider (Janet) and Jennifer Darst (Gary); brother, Bill Chatman (Lynn); sister, Mary Chatman (Yvonne); grandchildren, Tabitha, Taylor and Katie; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Stewartsville, Missouri…Bonnie Jean (Robinson) Greene was born August 21, 1928, and passed away July 3, 2023.

Bonnie was born in Phoenix, AZ, and attended Phoenix Central High School graduating in 1946. She attended the University of Arizona in Tucson where she pledged Pi Beta Phi. While at UofA, Bonnie met fellow student, Ivan R. Greene, and the couple married on May 28th, 1949. Bonnie completed her undergraduate degree at the UofA in 1950, and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Education from Arizona State University in Phoenix. Bonnie and Ivan moved their family of three sons from Phoenix to Stewartsville, MO, in 1959. Bonnie taught in the Easton and Cameron, MO schools before joining the faculty at Missouri Western State University in 1968. Bonnie retired in 1991 and was awarded Professor Emeritus status.

Bonnie was a member of the RLDS Church and an active member of the Maple Grove Congregation until she moved to Tallgrass Creek Retirement Community in Overland Park, KS, in 2009.

Bonnie is survived by her three sons, Mark Greene, Colorado Springs, CO, Scott Greene, Nagoya, Japan, and Bruce Greene, Seattle, WA.&nbsp;&nbsp;Additionally, there are 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2023, at Maple Grove cemetery with Gaylon Whitmer officiating. Maple Grove Cemetery is located 3 miles north of Stewartsville on Hwy N.

Larry L. Sinclair, 53, Atchison, Kansas, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Amberwell Hospital.&nbsp;

Memorial services will be Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Pastor, Stephen Lucas officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association and may be left in care of the funeral home. &nbsp;

Larry was born February 18, 1970, in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Roger and Mary Lou (Chandler) Sinclair. He attended Atchison County Community Schools.&nbsp;

He and Traci Florez were married April 17, 2015, in Atchison, Kansas.

Larry was employed with Bradken for over ten years and more recently served as a truck driver.&nbsp;

Larry enjoyed cars; he bought, sold, collected and tinkered with cars his whole adult life. He did not really worry about the manufacturer; he was fond of most all cars and over the years had too many to list. When he was younger, he played drums and always enjoyed taking time to do some fishing.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Traci Sinclair; a son, Daniel Sinclair, Junction City, KS; a brother, Gary Sinclair, Atchison, KS; a granddaughter, Paisley Sinclair; a brother-in-law, Chuck Trautloff, Atchison, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his son, Lane Sinclair; his parents; three brothers, Delwin Sinclair, David Sinclair, Allen Sinclair; and a sister Valerie Trautloff.

Marilyn Jane McVicker, 68, of Highland Kansas passed away on July 1st, 2023 peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Marilyn was born on December 18th 1954 to William “Bill” and Janice (Collins) Stonebarger in Highland.

Marilyn graduated from Highland High School class of 1973.&nbsp;

She married John C. Gray the same year. John and Marilyn had two daughters, Stormi and Holly. Marilyn worked at Atchison Leather Products until the birth of her oldest child, at which time she became a homemaker. In 1981 Marilyn married Joseph “Elmer” Rawles Jr. They had one son Brooks in 1982.

In 1988 Marilyn married Russell “Dean” McVicker. That same year one son Joshua was born. Marilyn worked as a kitchen aide at the Highland Care Center and also as an in home elderly care giver.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Dean, her parents, two brothers Charles and Richard, and also two nephews Jason and Billy Stonebarger.

Survivors include her children Stormi Gray, Arkansas, Holly (Paul) Olson, Iowa, Brooks (Cassie) Rawles, Highland, Joshua (Taya), Highland. Thirteen grandchildren, Colton, Jason “Jett”, Keyton, Wyatt, Kailin, Tailar, Brooklyn, Brianna, Trenton, Allie, Destiny, Miles and Madalyn. Four great-grandsons Theo, Asher, Jaxon and Brently. Two brothers Tony (Heather) Stonebarger, King City MO and Les (Ree) Stonebarger &nbsp;Auburn NE and several nieces and nephews.

Russell “Dean” McVicker of Highland passed away late Monday, Dec. 19, at Mosaic Hospital surrounded by family.&nbsp;

Dean was born January 10th, 1961 In Hiawatha Kansas the oldest son of&nbsp; Russell “Jake” and Judith Simpson McVicker.

Dean was a 1980 graduate of Enterprise Academy in Abilene Kansas. After school Dean worked farming and factory jobs in Texas and Kansas. In 1988 he married Marilyn Stonebarger. They had one son Joshua that same year. In 1990 they purchased a home in Highland, that they would spend over 30 years in.

Dean was preceded in &nbsp;death by his parents, Jake and Judy both sets of grandparents and a sister-in law Lynn McVicker.

Dean was survived by his wife of 34 years, Marilyn, up until her passing on July 1st 2023.&nbsp;

He is survived by his son, Joshua(Taya), Highland; three bonus children&nbsp; Stormi Gray, Arkansas, Holly (Paul) Olson, Iowa, Brooks (Cassie) Rawles, Highland; three brothers; Robin(Tammy) &amp; Robert(Meeca Thompson) all of Portland, OR. It is with great sadness that the family of Sheila Harris announce her passing. To miss someone so much means they were extremely special, and Sheila was that to us- special.

Sheila attended NWMSU, UMKC, and graduated from Research Medical School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in multiple positions at hospitals and medical corporations. Her love was nursing in the Intensive Care Unit. Sheila’s empathetic spirit and intelligence lead her to become an excellent medical professional. She spent her life loving and caring for people, both patients and family. We especially appreciated her devotion to her father’s end of life journey.

We were blessed to have her in our lives and are comforted to know she is no longer in pain and is smiling down on us. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Sheila Harris was born on October 13, and passed from this life on July 3, 2023. She was the daughter of Gerald and Vivian Harris. She was proceeded in death by her father in 2021.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother Vivian, her siblings, Judy, Jerry (Kathy), Mark (Lin), Greg (Tricia), Scott (Suzanne), her aunts, cousins, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

George Osborne, 101, of Smithville, MO formerly of Alta, IA passed away, June 29, 2023.

He was born on March 7, 1922 to Silas and Rachael (Hite) Osborne in State College, PA. George grew up in Alta, Iowa where he graduated high school. He then served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII.

On August 25, 1945 he was united in marriage to Charlene Castle. After their marriage they lived near Alta, Iowa where they farmed and made their home. His wife, Charlene, preceded him death on September 15, 2005. George moved to Smithville, MO to be near his surviving family.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Chad Osborne; great-grandson, Jeff Hagberg.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Alta and he attended the Family Worship Center in Smithville. George spent his later years enjoying woodworking, sewing, attending church, and visiting with friends.

George is survived by his son, Lynn Osborne and wife, Shirley; grandchildren, Tom (Susan) Osborne, Kimberly (Steve) Darnell, Sharon LaFever, Anita LaFever and Larry LaFever; six great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Lucy Zimmerman; other relatives and many friends.

Bill Baber, 91, of Cameron, MO formerly of Gower, MO passed away, July 4, 2023.

He was born on April 21, 1932 to Frank and Gladys (Collier) Baber in Smithville, MO. Bill graduated from Camden Point High School. He then attended Northwest Missouri State College and graduated in 1954 with a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Bill worked for the Missouri State Highway and Transportation and retired after 36 years in 1992.&nbsp;

Bill was a member of the Gower Baptist Church and later a member of the Kidder Baptist Church and served both churches as a Deacon. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

He was a member of the Gower Lions Club and was past president. He was a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite at the Gower Masonic Lodge where he was past master.On December 29, 2002 he was united in marriage to Mary Bottorff. After their marriage they lived in Gower and resided in Cameron most of their married life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Bobby Baber, Harold Baber, and Willard Baber; nephew, Steve Baber.

Bill is survived by his wife Mary; step-children, Clifford (Debbie) Bottorff, Sharon (Junior) Burke, Gail (Jeff) Kipp; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Deborah DeSchepper, Janet (Tony) Wilson, Lynn Beggs, Pam Gardner, Mark (Nancy) Baber, and John Baber; and numerous great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Charles W. Helmick, 81, Atchison, Kansas, died Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Cameron Regional Medical Center, Cameron, Missouri.&nbsp;

Graveside services will be Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 11:00 P.M. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, with Pastor, Mike Carney officiating.&nbsp;

Charles was born January 10, 1942, in Falls City, Nebraska the son of Donald G. and Esther (Kuker) Helmick. He attended Falls City High School and later took classes at Northeast Kansas Technical College in Atchison.&nbsp;

He and Judy Franzel were married Valentines Day 1964, in Auburn, Nebraska. Mrs. Helmick preceded him in death on January 31, 1975.&nbsp;

Charles joined the United States Marine Corps in 1966, serving his country in Vietnam. Charles was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on February 9, 1968.&nbsp;

He was employed with the Atchison Youth Center as a groundskeeper for over 20 years. He then spent another 11 years as a security guard for Communication Corporation of America, in Leavenworth, Kansas.&nbsp;

Survivors include his three siblings, Donald (Barbara) Helmick, Sabetha, KS, Connie Roe, Dalton, WI, and Kenneth (Florence) Helmick, Omaha, NE.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and an infant sister, Karen.

Larry L. Gilmore passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023. Born on August 27, 1940, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Larry grew into a man known for his loving nature, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family and work.

Larry graduated from Central High School in 1958 and subsequently served in the United States Navy. After his military service, he joined the Post Office, faithfully serving for 39 years before retiring. He was united in marriage to Joyce E. Darr on September 15, 1961, in a union of love and companionship that lasted until her passing in 2019.

Survived by his children, Dianna Gilmore (Juan), Robert Gilmore (Armida), and Steven Gilmore (Tamin); grandchildren, Heather, Steven, Christian, Chelsea, Kierston, and Connor; brother, Rick Gilmore (Marcia); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Audra (Stanton) Gilmore, and his wife, Joyce.

Larry was a man of diverse interests. He found delight in golfing, cherished his dog, Axl, and was a Chiefs football fan. Further, Larry was committed to his faith as a member of the Wyatt Park Baptist Church.

Carl Edner Rudolph, 90, Savannah, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023.

He was born January 3, 1933 on a farm north of Amazonia, Missouri to Carl and Grace Rudolph.

After attending Liggett and Brand elementary schools, he graduated from Savannah, Missouri, High School.

Edner served with the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1951-1955, primarily in the Philippines. He served as a lineman and electrician for Northwest Missouri Electric Cooperative, retiring after 35 years as an engineer.

Edner married his best friend, Bonnie Ruth Goforth, in 1981. They spent 34 happy years together, working hard, traveling and visiting friends and family, especially in Switzerland.

He was a member of the Saint Joseph Swiss Lodge and an active member of American Legion Post #287 since 1959. He also was a member of the New World Swiss Club in Monroe, Wisconsin. He belonged to the Savannah Methodist and Savannah First Christian Churches.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Bonnie.

Survivors include sister, L. Jean Weber; nieces, Lynn Liechti, Lori Hoefling, LeAnn Pogue (Steve), Lisa Leeson (Paul), and Linda Poppa (Robert).

Leonard N. Filippi, 79, passed away on Friday, June 30, at home. Leonard was born on August 5, 1943, in Seattle, Washington, the son of Hugo J. and Hulda Filippi. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. &nbsp;

On April 8, 1967, he married Ellen Miller at the Jarblo Methodist Church in Jarblo, Ks. He is survived by Ellen, daughter Annette Filippi (Jeff Jackson) Platte City, Mo., son Brett Filippi in Leavenworth, Ks. &amp; brother Bruce (Jeanette) Filippi in Berrington, Ks. Leonard has 3 nephews, 3 nieces, 3 great nephews, 3 great nieces, 1 great great niece &amp; 1 great great nephew.

Leonard accompanied his Army service parents on their tours to Yokohoma, Japan; Ft Dix, N.J.; Frankfurt, Germany; Ft Riley, Ks, &amp; Ft Leavenworth, Ks. He graduated from Lansing Rural High School in 1961.

He began his career with Watson Wilson Transportation before entering the Army in 1964. He was assigned to 5th Missile Batallion a guest of the Navy at Naval Air Station, Olathe, Ks. While assigned to the NAS, he also worked part time for Hall Truck Line in Olathe.

After leaving the Service in 1967 and marrying Ellen, they set up temporary housekeeping in Kansas City, Ks., until moving back to Lansing, Ks. &nbsp;His career in Transportation led him to work for Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant, Desoto, Ks.; Marley Cooling Tower Co., Olathe, Ks.; Western Auto Supply Co., Kansas City, Mo.; Dairy Farmers of America, Inc., Kansas City, Mo.; and Organized Living, Lenexa, Ks., where he &nbsp;took early retirement. He voluntered in the Leavenworth School System &nbsp;at Muncie Elementary &amp; Henry Leavenworth Elementary. He later volunteered at the office of Dr. Peter Cristiano in Lansing.

At Leonard's request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. &nbsp; Arrangements have been entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel.

Leonard N. Filippi, 79, passed away on Friday, June 30, at home. Leonard was born on August 5, 1943, in Seattle, Washington, the son of Hugo J. and Hulda Filippi. He was preceded in death by his parents. &nbsp;On April 8, 1967, he married Ellen Miller at the Jarblo Methodist Church in Jarblo, Ks. He is survived by Ellen, daughter Annette Filippi (Jeff Jackson) Platte City, Mo., son Brett Filippi in Leavenworth, Ks. &amp; brother Bruce (Jeanette) Filippi in Berrington, Ks. Leonard has 3 nephews, 3 nieces, 3 great nephews, 3 great nieces, 1 great great niece &amp; 1 great great nephew.Leonard accompanied his Army service parents on their tours to Yokohoma, Japan; Ft Dix, N.J.; Frankfurt, Germany; Ft Riley, Ks, &amp; Ft Leavenworth, Ks. Susan Kay Hunt 60 of St Joseph Missouri formerly of Plattsburg died Saturday July 1, 2023, at Mosaic Life Care in St Joseph MO. Born on Aug 7, 1962, is St Joseph Mo to Raymond E. and Erma L. (Hisel) Hunt. Susan was a graduate of Plattsburg High School class of 1980; she also received her associate degree. 

Susan worked for many years in Banking, clerical and accounts receivable. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Plattsburg. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sister Carol Hunt and nephew Jarod Neff. &nbsp;

Survivors include her twin brother Steven R. Hunt of Goodyear AZ; her boyfriend Khyl Buckallew of St Joseph MO; nephews Eric, Brandon, Tony, and great nephews Logan, Graham, Hudson, Stetson and Asher. &nbsp;

The family will gather with friends from 2:00 to 4:00PM Saturday July 8, 2023, at the funeral home. Susan will be cremated following the visitation, with inurnment at a later date. Susan Kay Hunt 1962 - 2023

Eva Mae Miller, age 89 years, of Craig, Missouri, passed away at Tiffany Heights on Friday, June 30, 2023 with her loving husband Jackie at her side.

Eva Mae was born May 1, 1934 on a farm near Fairfax to Marlin B. and Ermil Evelyn (Alkire) Smith.

She attended grade school and high school at Bellevue Community school north of Mound City. She graduated from Bellevue in 1952 and then attended business college in St. Joseph, Missouri. Eva Mae then returned to Mound City and worked in the business office for Ideker car dealership.

On April 5, 1953 Eva Mae married Jackie Lee Miller at Peculiar, Missouri. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this spring.&nbsp;

Eva Mae and Jackie made their home on Jackie's grandparents's farm north and east of Craig. They farmed and raised registered Black Angus cattle all their lives.&nbsp;

They are proud parents of one son, Kenneth Roy, who has been farming and in the Angus business with them all his life.

Eva Mae was a member of the former Pleasant View Presbyterian church. She was known for her wonderful family dinners. She hosted Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and many in between. Delicious food, and well known for her Christmas duck dinners! She had many special recipes, especially her chocolate angel food cake, carrot cookies, peach pie and Christmas fruit cake. Her potato salad was the absolute best!

She assisted Jackie on the farm, gardened, was a 'go-for' and traveled to Canada and other ranches as they built their Angus herd.&nbsp;

They enjoyed going to the Nebraska State Fair with her brother, Roger, and his wife Barb, spending many occasions with them going to Joe Tess' in Omaha and various other, especially good, places to eat.&nbsp;

Eva Mae and Jackie traveled many places, especially enjoying Branson, Missouri. Eva Mae was of a quick wit and was especially good at reading between the lines in all situations.

Eva Mae's nieces and nephews said she always asked them what they had been doing and learning since they had been to her house.&nbsp;

Eva Mae was an avid reader and she kept daily journals that spanned many decades.&nbsp;

She was so proud of and enjoyed her two grandsons, Keith and Kurt. They lived just a short distance away and spent a lot of time together as they grew up.

Preceding her in death was her older brother, Leon; her parents, Marlin and Ermil Smith; and a great grandson, Clint Wilmes.

Survivors include her husband, Jackie; her son, Kenny and his wife Mary; her grandsons, Keith and wife Jennifer and Kurt and wife Tammy; brothers, Roger and his wife Barb Smith of Nebraska city and Franklin and his wife Janice of Lincoln; great grandchildren, Kailey, Ty, Levi, Leah Mae, Lily Miller, and Camille Avery Aries; step grandchildren, Olivia Gosch, April Kirkendall, Safairra Slaby, and families; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: Monday, July 10, 2023, 11:00 am, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Interment: New Liberty Cemetery.

Wilbur Waller, 73, of St. Joseph, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, July 1st.&nbsp;

Wilbur was born June 24, 1950 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Howard and Mary Waller. He was the youngest of three children.&nbsp;

As Wilbur puts it, he felt like he was on top of the world in 1968. He graduated from Stewartsville High School, started college where he met his future wife, Marilyn, to whom he was married to for 46 years; and he started his 47-year career at American Electric.

He enjoyed helping others any chance he could. Wilbur liked the simpler things in life as he enjoyed a good cup of coffee, reading, meeting with his friends, telling bad Dad Jokes, watching NASCAR races, and most importantly, studying the Bible.Wilbur’s favorite Bible verse was Romans 8:12.He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Wilbur was a devoted husband, father and a devout Christian. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Marilyn.He is survived by his daughter Tonya and husband Terrence. He has two sisters Carole Parson, and Barbara Delany (Gerald), brother-in-law Neil Coufal; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also, we can’t forget his cat Tux.&nbsp;Visitation will be 11:00-12:00 Wednesday, July 5th at Green Valley Baptist Church, St. Joseph.
