Russell “Dean” McVicker of Highland passed away late Monday, Dec. 19, at Mosaic Hospital surrounded by family.
Dean was born January 10th, 1961 In Hiawatha Kansas the oldest son of Russell “Jake” and Judith Simpson McVicker.
Dean was a 1980 graduate of Enterprise Academy in Abilene Kansas. After school Dean worked farming and factory jobs in Texas and Kansas. In 1988 he married Marilyn Stonebarger. They had one son Joshua that same year. In 1990 they purchased a home in Highland, that they would spend over 30 years in.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Judy both sets of grandparents and a sister-in law Lynn McVicker.
Dean was survived by his wife of 34 years, Marilyn, up until her passing on July 1st 2023.
He is survived by his son, Joshua(Taya), Highland; three bonus children Stormi Gray, Arkansas, Holly (Paul) Olson, Iowa, Brooks (Cassie) Rawles, Highland; three brothers; Robin(Tammy) & Robert(Meeca Thompson) all of Portland, OR. Scott(Kelly), Kansas City, MO, bonus Mother Elizabeth McVicker, St. Joseph, MO
Dean also is survived by 13 grandchildren, Colton, Jett, Keyton, Wyatt, Kailin, Tailar, Brooklyn, Brianna, Trenton, Allie, Destiny, Miles and Madalyn, four great-grandsons Theo, Asher, Jaxon and Brently and multiple nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church, Highland from 10 to noon July 15th, 2023.
