Having fought the good fight, and now having finished her race here on earth, Alexine Lee Blunt, age 35, of Atchison, KS, passed peacefully on July 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.&nbsp;

Alex was born on March 4, 1990, in Atchison, KS, the daughter of Jerry and Karen (Regan) Blunt. She is a 2008 graduate of Atchison High School.&nbsp;

Alex lived life to the fullest, even though she battled numerous health obstacles. She was kind, caring, loving, generous and strong. She loved drawing, coloring, caring for her animals and listening to Christian music. Alex would always be joking around with her family and friends.

Having wanted to always be a teacher because of her love of children, Alex was able to spend time at the AES kindergarten room with her aunt assisting with the kids. She cherished the time she could spend helping at the school. She attended the First Baptist Church and found great joy in their church youth group.&nbsp;

Alex's memory will forever live on and be cherished by her parents, Jerry and Karen Blunt; her brother, Tanner Blunt; and her aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Vincent &amp; Phyllis Regan and Carl and Barbara Blunt; an uncle, Tony Regan; and an aunt, Catherine “Cathy” (Regan) Gonzales.&nbsp;

Alex’s life will be celebrated on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Russ Cooper officiating. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday evening, July 24th from 5:30-7:30 at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Memorials in her honor may be made to the St. Benedict Catholic School Endowment to be designated to the Regan Family Memorial Scholarship or the First Baptist Church. Ruthanna was born May 19, 1929, the daughter of Julius and Helena M. (Watowa) Handke. She attended Irish Point School.&nbsp;

On November 23, 1949, she and Louis William Keimig were married by Fr. Cosmos Schneider at St. Louis Church and they made their home on a farm north of Atchison their entire married life.

Ruthanna was a member of St. Louis Church and was active in the church Altar Society. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and doing crossword puzzles. She loved music, playing the piano and in her younger years she liked to dance. Above all else, she loved her grandchildren and spending time making memories with them.&nbsp;

Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Judy) Keimig, Kansas City, MO, Donald (Rita) Keimig, Atchison, KS, a sister, Leona Busenbarrick, Atchison, KS, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband, on October 15, 1983, and three brothers, Donald Handke, Eugene Handke and Leo Handke.&nbsp;

Bryce Lane Schoonover was born July 21, 1963, to James and Faire (Drewes) Schoonover of Mound City, Missouri.

On August 2, 1986, he married the love of his life, Patricia Lynn Hunziger, of Oregon, Missouri. They became the parents of three beautiful daughters, whom he loved and cherished. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Bryce enjoyed growing up working alongside his parents at Schoonover Oil Company, Inc., where he was the current owner/operator. He was an honest, upright and hard-working man who never met a stranger.

He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church in Mound City and a loyal soldier in the Lord’s army. The most important thing to him was his relationship with Jesus Christ. His main mission in life was to tell others about God’s plan of salvation through Him. “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:11-12 NIV)

Bryce passed away on his 62nd birthday, July 21, 2025 at a St. Joseph hospital after suffering a massive hemorrhagic stroke.

He was preceded in death by his father, James; brother-in-law, Tommy Quick, and an unborn child and grandchild.

In addition to his wife, Patty, he is survived by his daughters: Anna Statesel (James), Laura Lewis (Kolby) and Sarah Bridgman (Josh); mother, Faire; grandchildren: Evelynn Rose Statesel, Brylee Joy Lewis, and Henry Bryce and Ivy Louise Bridgman; siblings: Jon Schoonover (Kayla), Jill Asher (Dave) and Gay Quick (Allan Markt); numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and a great host of friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 25, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Christian Fellowship Church in Mound City. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 26 at 10:30 a.m., also at the church. The service will be live-streamed on the church’s Facebook page.

Spencer Dean Brown, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away on July 21, 2025, at the age of 88. &nbsp;He was born October 23, 1936, in Cameron, Missouri, to the late Harold Spencer and Thelma (Dwyer) Brown.

Spencer was a Benton graduate and over the road truck driver for 35 years. &nbsp;He was a longtime member of the 17th Street Community of Christ Church, where he served faithfully as an elder. &nbsp;He officiated weddings and baptisms and was a proud member of the church choir and a beloved member of the community.

Spencer had a lifelong passion for aviation. &nbsp;He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, spending countless hours perfecting his craft and sharing the hobby with others. &nbsp;He also had a love for racing, having completed in small-format race cars and following NASCAR with great enthusiasm.

Surviving are his wife Marilyn, four daughters, Debbie Burns (Mike), Deana Moran, Rogene Johnston (Steve), Cindy Martin; brother Lionel Brown (Karen); other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife Mary Davis; daughter Kathy Code; brother Don Brown; grandson, Justin Martin; great-grandson Cyler Matthews.

Spencer was the proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the 17th Street Community of Christ Church of the St. Joseph Animal Shelter.

Michael A. Jennings, 75, Savannah, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home Monday, July 21, 2025.

He was born April 28, 1950 in St. Joseph to Donald and Mary (McVay) Jennings. He grew up in St. Joseph, where he started working as a young boy delivering the St. Joseph News-Press. He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1968. He was a member of Woodson Chapel Church.

Michael proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy in Newfoundland and during the Vietnam War, then later in the U.S. Army Reserves in Panama and during Desert Storm.

After his military service, Michael earned his bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from Missouri Western State College. He was a farmer all of his life, raising livestock and row crops with his father. He also sold seed corn and worked for ChemLawn as well as drove a road grader for Andrew County.

He married Georgeanne Walker on August 22, 1968. They later divorced. He married Verna Jo Davis on November 26, 1992, and she survives of the home.

Sports were a big part of Michael’s life. He started a noncompetitive youth baseball league in Savannah, which later became an American Legion league. He built the league’s field himself. He started boys baseball and girls volleyball at Savannah High School in the 1989-1990 school year. He would also take a few kids each summer to Phil Welch Stadium to see baseball games and hopefully encourage them to follow their talent and dreams in the sport.

Besides baseball, Michael enjoyed going dancing with Verna and loved his animals.

An outgoing, social fellow who was known in his earlier years to be the life of the party, Michael was foremost a loving husband, father, and grandfather with a big, generous heart who would help anyone, anytime.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Michael Scott Jennings; and brother-in-law, Daryl Schneider.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Verna; children, Michael Jennings, Janelle Jennings, Matthew Jennings (Bethany), Cree Zepeda (Jason), and Amelia Madl (Tim); grandchildren, Jayden Jennings, Jordan Jennings-Duberry, Jianna Duberry, Cheyenne Allen, Rae Lyn Jennings, Calvin Jennings, Addie Madl, and Maddox Madl; sisters, Jennifer Sangster (Tom) and Jody Schneider; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends; and his beloved dog, Molly.

Carolyn Sue Jacobs Trauernicht, 75, Whitesville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025.

She was born March 11, 1950 to Carl E. and Z. Doyn (Muntz) Jacobs in Maryville, Missouri.

A graduate of Worth County High School in Grant City, Missouri and Gard Business School in St. Joseph, Missouri. Carolyn later went to Missouri Western State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in management. Carolyn excelled as an administrative assistant for various businesses. Seeking to share her wisdom with the younger generation, she eventually found her calling as a substitute teacher, a role she cherished until retirement.

Carolyn married Danny Pawling on March 20, 1970, and together they embarked on life's journey, welcoming four children into the world: Tabatha (Pawling) Verbick, Mindy Sue Pawling, Carl Pawling, and Shanin Pawling. Their paths as a married couple diverged. Carolyn later married Fred Trauernicht on September 1, 1992.

An avid quilter, her skilled hands crafted heirlooms that would wrap her loved ones in warmth for generations to come. Her love for the outdoors was boundless, whether tending to her animals, flowers, camping trips, or fishing. She also found joy in the quiet solitude of hunting and the thrill of spelunking.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Mindy Sue Pawling; grandson, Elijah Pawling; and sister, Patricia Davidshofer.

Carolyn Trauernicht March 11, 1950-July 20, 2025

Milton Carl Moore, 80, Springfield, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025, surrounded by his family.

He was born July 28, 1944 to Carl and Mildred Hjelm Moore in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Milton graduated from Central High School in 1962, St. Joseph Junior College in 1964, Northwest Missouri State University in 1967 and later earned his master’s degree at the University of Central Missouri.

He married Judy Matthews in 1967. He later married Judith Perryman in 1989.

Milton’s love of farming started with his parents and brother in 1958 and continued his entire life. He learned his carpentry skills as a young man traveling to Clay Center, KS where he framed houses with his uncle. He began his teaching career at Smithville High School in 1967. He then taught drafting and design at Hillyard Technical Center from 1971-1999. Milton was very passionate about taking students to state and national competitions for Skills USA, formerly Vocational Industrial Clubs of America.

In his “spare time” Milton kept busy by helping people. Milton never turned down a request for help. When he wasn’t in the classroom he removed snow, topped trees, built decks, roofed houses, and helped friends move just to name a few. He also worked for American Family Insurance as an adjuster, Altec, Vieco Construction Inc., Maysville Truss Co, among others. After “retirement”, he continued to teach at various locations.

He was an elder and an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church &amp; Trinity Presbyterian Church, where he served on multiple committees. He developed lasting friendships through the fellowship at both churches.

He voluntarily joined the Kansas Army National Guard in 1970 and completed Army basic training in 1971 as an enlisted soldier. He graduated from Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the summer of 1973.

Milton enjoyed gardening on a very large scale. There was always more food than they could use, which led him to generously donate to friends, family and those in need. Milton also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He liked to hunt deer and be outdoors. No matter what he was doing he always enjoyed teaching and sharing his knowledge with others.

Survivors include his wife, Judith; brother, Jim Moore (Julie); daughter, Kate Viestenz (Paul); son, T.C. Milton Carl Moore, 80, Springfield, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025, surrounded by his family.He was born July 28, 1944 to Carl and Mildred Hjelm Moore in St. Joseph, Missouri.Milton graduated from Central High School in 1962, St. Joseph Junior College in 1964, Northwest Missouri State University in 1967 and later earned his master’s degree at the University of Central Missouri.He married Judy Matthews in 1967. He later married Judith Perryman in 1989.Milton’s love of farming started with his parents and brother in 1958 and continued his entire life. He learned his carpentry skills as a young man traveling to Clay Center, KS where he framed houses with his uncle. He began his teaching career at Smithville High School in 1967. He then taught drafting and design at Hillyard Technical Center from 1971-1999. Milton was very passionate about taking students to state and national competitions for Skills USA, formerly Vocational Industrial Clubs of America.In his “spare time” Milton kept busy by helping people. She graduated from Benton High School, class of 1948, and St. Joseph Junior College. She married Billy West on June 3, 1950. Darlene spent many years as a Homemaker, and later worked with St. Joseph Beauty University, Seitz Foods, and Librarian at Missouri Western State College.

Lorena Joann Edmondson, 91, of St. Joseph passed away, July 20, 2025. Lorena was born November 1, 1933 in Norton, KS to John C. &nbsp;and Roberta (Postma) Ingrum.

Prior to retirement she worked as a Registered Nurse for the State Hospital of St. Joseph for over 35 years.

Lorena married Leoneo Edmondson on June 30, 1955 in Troy, Kansas, and he preceded her in death January 27, 1998. &nbsp;Also preceding her in death were her parents; son John Edmondson; grandson Michael Rollett; great-grandsons Declan and Ronan; and a brother Jess Ingrum.

Survivors include her daughters, Katherine Rollett, Rose Edmondson; daughter-in-law Lisa Edmondson; three grandchildren, Wesley Rollett, Patrick Edmondson (Christina), Michelle Moore (Andrew); 13 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother Victor Ingrum; sister Rosa Porter; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She loved to travel and was an avid reader.

James (Jim) E. Bonkoski, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri; passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born on September 12, 1938 in Lexington, Missouri, to the late Cleo Clarissa (Chaney) and Andrew Martin Bonkoski.&nbsp;

On June 7th, 1958 Jim was united in marriage with Shirley (Price). They have just celebrated 67 years of marriage. Jim worked for American Family Insurance Company as a claims examiner until he retired in 2000. &nbsp;

Being an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, Jim loved following and supporting the Chiefs at their yearly summer training camps. Jim and Shirley enjoyed camping and being in the great outdoors for a few years after his retirement. Jim loved being at home, playing dice games, and watching westerns with his beloved dog Stella Grace.&nbsp;

Above all Jim was devoted to Shirley, and was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and attending events and milestone achievements. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Jamie Bonkoski; and sister, Mary Salyer.

Kurt Neff, 62, passed away in the early morning hours of July 17th 2025 after battling many hard fought health complications. Kurt was a Central High School graduate of the class of 1981. After High School, Kurt was employed by Vedco, where he put in nearly 30 years of service and built many bonds with his coworkers.&nbsp;

In his free time, Kurt was an avid outdoorsman. He thoroughly enjoyed fishing with his family and bragging about his prized 8 lb 23 inch long bass, which he had proudly mounted on his wall. Kurt also enjoyed upland game bird hunting with family, friends, and co-workers.&nbsp;

Kurt spent many hours with his father and siblings, building muscle cars, going to car shows, and working in the paint booth. Kurt was very proud of his 1972 Chevy Nova build, which his granddaughter is named after, and the 1955 Chevy pickup he was still working on.

Kurt was preceded in death by his parents, John and Barbara (Roesle) Neff, Sister Annette, and infant sister Nancy. He is survived by his daughter Barbara Brummer, son-in-law Matt Brummer, and grandchildren Payton, Brody, and Kamden. He is also survived by his brother Ed Neff, sister-in-law Kristina, and their children.&nbsp;

Faye Hart April 7, 1933-July 18, 2025

Edward “Ed” Dale Winter, 70, of Hiawatha, Kansas, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on July 18th, 2025. He was surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on December 21st, 1954, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Ed was the son of the late Raymen and Mildred (Marshall) Winter. He grew up in the close-knit farming community of Brown County, Kansas, alongside his brothers, Mike and Alan. From an early age, Ed was active in 4-H, earning numerous ribbons and awards for showing horses and cattle, a passion that foreshadowed a lifelong love of animals and agriculture.

A 1973 graduate of Hiawatha High School, Ed went on to attend Highland Community College where he earned an Associate of Science Degree. He then transferred to Kansas State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. His time at K-State nurtured a love for learning and solidified his pride in his alma mater—he remained a devoted Wildcat fan throughout his life.

Following his graduation, Ed returned home to work on the family farm, where he raised purebred Angus cattle—a passion inspired by his uncle, Harry Ukena—and he took special care of donkeys too. He also inherited a green thumb from his mother, Mildred, developing a special interest in flowers, specifically orchids.

Ed’s commitment to land stewardship and conservation was reflected in his years of service on the Brown County Soil Conservation Board and Roy’s Creek Watershed Board, where he held several leadership positions. His dedication to his community and the land he loved never went unnoticed.

Outside of work, Ed cherished spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed attending K-State games with his longtime friend Tom Jones, proudly cheering on the Wildcats whenever he could.

Edward “Ed” Dale Winter, 70, of Hiawatha, Kansas, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on July 18th, 2025. He was surrounded by his loved ones.Born on December 21st, 1954, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Ed was the son of the late Raymen and Mildred (Marshall) Winter. He grew up in the close-knit farming community of Brown County, Kansas, alongside his brothers, Mike and Alan. From an early age, Ed was active in 4-H, earning numerous ribbons and awards for showing horses and cattle, a passion that foreshadowed a lifelong love of animals and agriculture.A 1973 graduate of Hiawatha High School, Ed went on to attend Highland Community College where he earned an Associate of Science Degree. He then transferred to Kansas State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. His time at K-State nurtured a love for learning and solidified his pride in his alma mater—he remained a devoted Wildcat fan throughout his life.Following his graduation, Ed returned home to work on the family farm, where he raised purebred Angus cattle—a passion inspired by his uncle, Harry Ukena—and he took special care of donkeys too. He also inherited a green thumb from his mother, Mildred, developing a special interest in flowers, specifically orchids.Ed’s commitment to land stewardship and conservation was reflected in his years of service on the Brown County Soil Conservation Board and Roy’s Creek Watershed Board, where he held several leadership positions. His dedication to his community and the land he loved never went unnoticed.Outside of work, Ed cherished spending time with family and friends. With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of David Lyle Troutman, who died on June 26, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 62.

David was born on March 21, 1963, in Inglewood, California, to Fred and Marilyn Troutman. He grew up with a love for music and began playing the drums at just 14 years old. Known early on as “Little Dave,” he got his start performing with the Union Mill Opry, where his natural talent and infectious energy quickly earned him a place in the hearts of local audiences.

He graduated from North Platte High School and continued his musical journey at Missouri Western State College, where he played in the college band and further developed his gift for percussion. Over the years, David performed with various bands, including Silverstone, becoming a respected and familiar face in Missouri’s music scene.

David was more than a musician — he was a connector of people. Outgoing and kind, he never knew a stranger. Whether through music, conversation, or small everyday gestures, he made others feel seen, heard, and welcomed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Marilyn Troutman. He is survived by his brother, Richard Troutman, and sister- in-law, Ocena Troutman, along with a wide circle of extended family and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

A Memorial Visitation to celebrate David’s life will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 30th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor the life of a man who lived with rhythm, heart, and unwavering kindness.

Mary was born January 6, 1959, to Charles G. and Pauline (Gensheer) Adkins, Sr. in St. Joseph, MO.

Mary attended North Platte Elementary for 2 yrs then moved to the East Buchanan Schools where she graduated in 1977.

Mary married Tom Crawford, January 29, 1977. They had 4 children. She was proud of being a mother to her children and a MeMaw to her 9 grandchildren.

Mary and Tom enjoyed playing a lot of dominoes while listening to rock and roll music. She also enjoyed drinking root beer, playing pool and going for long walks, especially with her grandson Kilean.

Mary was preceded in death by her infant son Bryan Thomas Crawford, her parents, two sisters – Carol Ann Carpenter and Connie Woodson, and her brother Donnie Adkins.

Mary is survived by her husband Tom, her daughters Sarah T Eaton (Springfield), Danica Bagby (Roscoe), her son Rutgar Crawford (Eldorado Springs), her sister Janice McNutt (Mike), her 2 brothers Chuck (Stacey) Adkins, Jim Bob (TJ) Adkins, her grandchildren, many nieces and nephew, many great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Randy Scott Ellis, 64, of Cosby, Missouri passed away July 18, 2025. He was born September 25, 1960, in St. Joseph, Missouri, son of Theodore and Janice (Sheffler) Ellis. Randy married Mary Gier on October 5, 1985, and shared 40 years together raising a family and cherishing each other. She survives in the home.

Randy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His love for family came first. His children and grandchildren brought him joy. He loved having family come together. His love of family extended to his siblings and other family members. Randy had the gift of gab, humor, and compassion that everyone that knew him will dearly miss. He truly valued family and friendships. He was always available to help if possible. He stood on his values and cherished life. Fixing things and tinkering in his garage were things he enjoyed. He liked camping, fishing, and spending time around the campfire at Rochester Falls. There are no words to describe the number of lives he touched and how much all will miss him. He worked at WRDCC as a garage supervisor. Prior to working at WRDCC, he worked at Missouri Western University as a printer. He enjoyed working with all his coworkers and growing those friendships.

Jimmy Joe Herrod, 61, of Savannah passed away Thursday July 17, 2025 at his home in Savannah. &nbsp;He was born in St. Joseph on March 27, 1964 to Joe &amp; Lauverta (Harmon) Herrod. &nbsp;He married Rhonda J. Hays in Branson, MO on November 10, 2019 and she survives of the home.

Jimmy worked at Norris Quarries for over forty years and was very passionate about his career. &nbsp;He loved his family and the time spent with them. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, and Royals baseball. &nbsp;

Jimmy Herrod March 27, 1964-July 17, 2025

John Robert Holmes, oldest son of Harry James and Mildred Leontine (Hood) Holmes was born August 4, 1934, on a farm in Ordway, CO and passed away peacefully at age 90 at his daughter, Tara’s home, near Winston MO where he had been living the past 2 ½ years.

John attended school in Gridley, Kansas through 8th&nbsp;grade. When he turned 13, His Dad bought a 1937 Chevrolet, and he drove his siblings to school. The family moved to Hartford KS when John was a freshman in high school.&nbsp;&nbsp;One month before high school graduation, John enlisted in the U.S. Army and was sent to Fort Leonard Wood, MO, where he was trained to operate heavy equipment. During his service from 1953 to 1956, he built roads and railroads for defense, terraces, and soccer fields all over Germany. This experience with heavy machinery would prove invaluable throughout his work life.

Shortly after being honorably discharged from the Army, John met Juanita Beth Hacker of Mount Ayr, IA. They were married September 1, 1956, at the Harford Christian Church.&nbsp;&nbsp;They would be blessed with his four daughters, Michell, D’Ambra, Tara and Jona. This union would last 22 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;Several years later John married Nell Bridges in 1981, who passed away in 1999. He married Laura Henderson in 2004 who passed away in 2009.

Although John worked as an insurance agent, ran two farming and cattle operations, and started his own bulldozer business, his chosen career was foreman of three large Construction Companies, Art Goin Construction, Herzog Construction and Clarkson Construction.&nbsp;&nbsp;He would be a foreman for more than 40 years before retiring in 1996 continuing to work part-time until Arthritis prevented it. He was a proud member of Kansas City MO Operating Engineers Union Local 101 from 1956 until his death. He was also a Master Mason of the Blue Springs, MO Masonic Lodge and enjoyed the Fairport MO Saddle Club and Lions Club.

During his retirement years, John embraced adventure and friendship through several RV clubs, enjoying camping, wintering in Texas and spending time with friends and family. His special friend, Linda Menter will miss him deeply.

John is survived by his four daughters, Michell Ricker (Bruce) of Mount Ayr, IA, D’Ambra Hainline (Benson) of Mount Ayr, IA, Tara Lee (Mike) of Winston, MO and Jona Fell (Joe) of Kaukauna WI, along with 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings include Kathryn Stutesman of Lebanon, TN, Mary Fuhs and Carol Lingo of Bartlesville OK and Jack Holmes of Waverly, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Eleanor Stanton and Buck Holmes, one grandson, Ames Fell and wives Nell Bridges and Laura Henderson.

A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Cremation under the direction of Turner Family Funeral Home of Maysville.

John Holmes August 4, 1934-July 17, 2025

Wyatt Henry Assel, beloved father, son, and brother, passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 30. Born December 26, 1994, to Henry E Assel Jr and Renea A Bayers in St Joseph, MO.

Wyatt was the proud and devoted father of his two children, 4-year-old Parker and 1-year-old Wes, whom he adored deeply. He found his greatest joy in being a dad—his time spent with Parker and Wes was the light of his life. Wyatt loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He loved the simple joy of the chirping of the birds in his backyard bird feeders. Wyatt loved football and was a big fan of the Chiefs.

Wyatt’s smile and grin were infectious. He had a heart for others, especially those who were struggling as he once did. He was passionate about helping people and hoped to make a difference by offering support and understanding to anyone in need. Since his passing, we have heard from others who were touched when Wyatt shared the stories of his own struggles. He will never know the impact he had.

Wyatt is survived by his daughter Parker and son Wes, and Keaton who is on the way (mother: Ciyara Mills); parents Henry and Wendy Assel and Renea and Michael Bayers; sisters Emma, Maggie and brother Aiden Assel, along with step siblings Meghan, Morgan and Kade Bayers; grandparents Donna Assel, Shirley Pankau, and Diana and Merwyn Smith; and multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Wyatt Henry Assel, beloved father, son, and brother, passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 30. Born December 26, 1994, to Henry E Assel Jr and Renea A Bayers in St Joseph, MO.Wyatt was the proud and devoted father of his two children, 4-year-old Parker and 1-year-old Wes, whom he adored deeply. He found his greatest joy in being a dad—his time spent with Parker and Wes was the light of his life. Wyatt loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He loved the simple joy of the chirping of the birds in his backyard bird feeders. Wyatt loved football and was a big fan of the Chiefs.Wyatt’s smile and grin were infectious. He had a heart for others, especially those who were struggling as he once did. He was passionate about helping people and hoped to make a difference by offering support and understanding to anyone in need. Since his passing, we have heard from others who were touched when Wyatt shared the stories of his own struggles. He will never know the impact he had.Wyatt is survived by his daughter Parker and son Wes, and Keaton who is on the way (mother: Ciyara Mills); parents Henry and Wendy Assel and Renea and Michael Bayers; sisters Emma, Maggie and brother Aiden Assel, along with step siblings Meghan, Morgan and Kade Bayers; grandparents Donna Assel, Shirley Pankau, and Diana and Merwyn Smith; and multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Wyatt Assel December 26, 1994-July 13, 2025

Harvey Franklin Mead, 80, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away in his home on Wednesday July 16, 2025.

Harvey was born on November 22, 1944, in San Diego, California, the son of Franklin and Rose (Bartholomew) Mead. Harvey joined the Army shortly after graduating high school where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Marksman Large Caliber, Expert Rifle, and Basic Missileman Badge. Harvey did his journeymen’s apprenticeship through the San Diego College Trade School. He was a lineman with KP&amp;L until his retirement in 2002.

On April 22, 1999, Harvey married Linda Wilson in Mesa, Arizona. They settled in Platte City, Missouri until 2019 when they moved to Atchison. Harvey and Linda recently celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary.

Harvey truly loved his family and was a kind, generous man with a great sense of humor. Harvey enjoyed playing golf and in his younger years played softball as well as being in a bowling league for several years.

Harvey is survived by his wife Linda Mead of the home, sons Mike (Missy) Mead, Olathe, Kansas, and Scot (Cheryl) Kirkendoll, Leavenworth, Kansas, daughters Kimberly (Marc) Wurzinger, Chicago, Illinois, Faith (Joey) Hinton, Atchison, Kansas, and Hope (Al) Kelly, Atchison, Kansas, grandchildren Colin, Kerry, Katie, Ava, Ella, Kiersten, Mikah, Tenley, Brittanie, Allison, Sean, Tyler, Tanner, Tayler, Taygen, and great-grandchildren Layla, Harper, Kaci, Lucy, Xadrian, Wrenley, Nora, Hallie, and Ezra.

A visitation will be held Sunday July 27, 2025, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. A committal service will be the following day Monday July 28, 2025, 11:00am at Leavenworth National Cemetery with Pastor Reed officiating. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran School Grant Fund or to Wounded Warrior Project.

His humor, a bit impish.Rest in Peace.Danny Parker died in his sleep sometime early Sunday morning, July 6, 2025 in Mound City, Mo., at the home of his sister Carol Sue Ward, where he had lived in her hospitality and care since 2018. He had been dealing for years with diabetes and end-stage renal disease, and recently spent several weeks at a skilled care facility to receive more intense treatment. He was 67.Born April 17, 1958, at the newly opened North Kansas City (Mo.) Hospital, Danny was among the first babies delivered there, missing out on the first newborn prize package by just a week or so. The extended family lived in nearby Parkville and Riverside, Mo., coming to that area in the early 1940s to pursue better work opportunities. His father worked for an asphalt roofing manufacturer and later a rock quarry. His mom was a clerk in the home goods department at Woolworth’s.In 1959, she moved back to her hometown of Athelstan, in southwest Iowa, with baby Danny and his sisters Carol Sue and Norma Ruth. Their dad died in early 1963 at the state hospital in St. Joseph, Mo. &nbsp;Danny attended elementary school in nearby Blockton and Conway, Iowa, and the Bedford Community High School. &nbsp;He got a start in construction and excavation work on crews with his brother, Edward Phillip “Bud” Parker, 17 years his elder. Over the years Danny also worked with brother-in-law Bill Clark along with several nephews and cousins who were close to him in age.Those work projects took him on short-term stays in Kansas, Colorado, Louisiana, North Carolina, and Tennessee. He helped in laying both natural gas pipelines and fiber-optic cable. Eventually he also supervised crews, certified fittings safety compliance, and transported heavy equipment between job sites. Work injuries and reliance on fast food on the road contributed to later health issues.Between projects, he was usually back on an acreage near Adrian, Mo., where he and his mom had moved in the 1980s, and later other family members followed. That farm became a drawing place for his eldest sister Fern, her son Sam and daughter Debbie, and Debbie’s daughter Mandy. Debbie died in 1994; his mom in late 1995; sister Fern in 1999; sister Ann in 2008; and niece Mandy in 2019.Around 2014, Danny moved into town to help June Koger, an aunt of Ann’s husband, Jim. It was June and her late husband, Wilmer who had sold Danny their farm when they retired to town. Wilmer died in late 1996, and June in 2016.Among those mourning Danny are his sisters, Carol Sue Ward of Mound City, Mo. and Norma Ruth Parker Wilson of Eugene, Ore.; his sister-in-law, Glenda Parker of Holly Springs, Miss. (wife of his brother, Bud, who died in 2022); and nieces and nephews, who were more like siblings, Billy Gene Clark and Dave Clark of Adrian, Mo., and Brenda Clark Taylor of Esbon, Kan.To others in the family, he was Uncle Danny. So much so, Glenda notes, that’s what she and her daughters and their families and even some of the neighbors all called him. He was Uncle, too, to Jimmy Dean Parker, Angela Parker Flores, her daughters Amber, Courtney, Kristina, Ashley and especially her son Alex; to Sam Clark of Alaska; Becky Bryant, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Donnie Bryant of Kentucky; Anthony Parker, Mound City, Mo., and Lisa, Jason and Elizabeth Wilson.Though Danny never married, he doted on and was sometimes a father figure to several of his great nieces and nephews: Michael Taylor of Happy Acres, Kan., Kaitlyn Bryant and Amber Sutton of LaGrange, Ky.; Chelsie and Chip Snow of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; and Mandy Clark and her children River Clark, and Harry and Vivian Greer, of Adrian, Mo.Danny will be missed but definitely not begrudged relief from pain and fatigue, or the homegoing to all the loved ones who have gone before.Special thanks to …Eric Chamberlain of Chamberlain Funeral Home and Sgt. His sister, Ann Bryant, and her husband, Jim, are buried there also.&nbsp;Friends &amp; Family multiply the joy &amp; divide the grief.<figure>
