Delores J Smith, 92, passed away on September 22, 2023, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO.

Delores was born November 7, 1930, in Mound City, MO. Her parents were the late Louie L and Ester R (Nauman) Field. Delores graduated from Mound City High School in 1948 and attended Gard Business School in St. Joseph.

On December 31, 1949, Delores married Sidney E Smith. The high school sweethearts celebrated 70 years of marriage before Sidney’s passing on May 21, 2020. Their greatest gift from God was their son, Stanley E Smith, born on September 5, 1957. He died on August 25, 2003.

After graduation, Delores was secretary to Lester A Vonderschmidt, attorney and Speaker of the House of Representatives in Jefferson City. At a later date, she was also receptionist for Dr. Muriel Joy, DDS.

Delores was a charter member of the Omega Club, a member of the Christian Fellowship Church and a friend to many.

Delores had two brothers: Roland L Field and wife, P.J. and Robert D Field and wife, Barbara.

Survivors include her grandchildren: Misty (Mark) Allen and Jeremy Smith; and her great grandchildren: Jeffrey and Levi Watts, Hudson and Parker Allen, and Joshua, Austin and Shelby Smith.

Services will be held at the Christian Fellowship Church on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery following the service.

Larry Lee Crockett passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. 

A Graveside service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Graceland Cemetery in Weston, Missouri. The family suggests contributions be given to The American Legion or Wounded Warriors Project. Larry was born in Weston, Missouri on December 26, 1942, to J.R. and Barbara Lee (Berry) Crockett. 

Larry was a 1961 graduate of West Platte High School. Larry married Betty May Anderson, on December 30, 1962, in Rapid City, SD. Larry was a member of the U.S. Air Force joining June 0f 1961. After his service in the military he worked for TWA for 38 years as Service manager. He also mowed for the special Road District and was an active member of the American Legion Post 501 and the Masonic lodge. He enjoyed mowing his lawn also. 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jesse Ray (Pee Wee) Crockett.

 Larry is survived by: his wife Betty May (Anderson) Crockett, two sons; Jimmie (Donna) Crockett, Darrin (Jan) Crockett, a sister, Patty Wade, three grandchildren and nine Great-Grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his grandson Walker Johnston, his wife Georgia and three sisters and two brothers.

Mark Steven Wright, 55, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023.

He was born May 10, 1968 in Washington, D.C., to Steven and Sherry (Bartch) Wright.

Mark proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, first in the 2nd Armored Division, nicknamed Hell on Wheels, and then in the Alpha Company of the 142nd Signal Battalion, both based at Fort Hood, Texas. He was deployed during Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield.

Mark married Tammie Kay Breckenridge on October 24, 2010. She preceded him in death on December 17, 2020.

He was a Senior Pilot Plant Technician and Internal Thermal Process Expert for Nestle for 25 years, helping perfect processes before they were rolled out companywide.

Mark was passionate about many things, including his video games -- especially Fallout 4 and Grand Theft Auto, anything Star Wars, medieval things, his guns and dirt bikes. He loved to kick back with a cold Busch Light.

Mark loved music, especially his sons’ punk rock band, Almost Enemies. He was their biggest fan and never missed a show.

A big family man, Mark always made sure they were taken care of. He was a great man.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Tammie; father, Steven; and his grandparents, Mildred and Floyd Bartch.

Survivors include his children, Kyle Culp, Jacob Wright (Erin Wilkins), Jessica Wright (Connor Fraley), Jacob Hughes, Jada McMillen and Jordan McMillen; grandchildren, Zander, Zoey and Azalea Culp; his mother, Sherry Bartch; siblings, Chad Wright (Spencer), David Hughes (Heidi), Nathan Wright and Jessica Wright; other extended family members and friends; and his beloved dog, Shamus.

Norma Elaine Cobb, 96, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023.

She was born December 10, 1926 in Bedford, Iowa to Mark and Lulu Robinson.

Norma worked as a teacher at the Easton, Missouri school district for 20 years and provided daycare for many families along the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband, sisters, and parents.

Survivors include her children, Craig Cobb, Catherine Petersen (Alan), Kelly Cobb (Michelle), Chris Cobb (Lisa); 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, her sister Margie Sanders and numerous nieces and nephews.

Norma loved being in the outdoors doing gardening, bird watching and fishing. She had a zest for life that was immediately felt by everyone who met her beautiful big smile and infectious laugh. Her adventurous nature included flying around with her husband to the next Shriner event or landing in a farmer’s field to spend time at the family lake house at the Lake of the Ozarks. She traveled near, yet far and if you would ask her, she would most likely say, “oh yes I’ve been there and done that” as she toasted with a Bourbon &amp; Pepsi. She was an avid KU Basketball and Kansas City Chiefs fan. In her late years, she would look around a room and proclaim to be the oldest, yet she looked to be the youngest. Norma had unconditional love and care for her family and close friends and thus she was often referred to as an “angel”. Her grandchildren would often tell her a fun and crazy story just to get her to say her infamous “WOO”. We are sure she is storming heaven with exactly those words.

Maysville, Missouri…Clarence Edward Douglas, age 92, was born September 3, 1931, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the son of Oliver Vaughn Douglas and Nellie Beatrice (Cook) and passed away September 20, 2023, in Maysville, Missouri.

Clarence lived most of his life in California until about 15 years ago when he moved to Maysville to live with his brother and sister-in-law, Hank and Susie Douglas, due to failing health.&nbsp; &nbsp;

While in California, he enlisted in the Marine Corp and worked at Allen Bradley Manufacturing for many years. He enjoyed fishing but especially fishing in the Pacific Ocean along California’s coastline.&nbsp;

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tommy Douglas; and daughter, Debra Sue Douglas.

He is survived by his children, Clarence Douglas Jr. and Ella Louise White; brother, Henry Clay Douglas (Suzie); and a host of family and friends.

Kelly Knotts, 66, of Lake Minatare, Nebraska met his Savior on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, after a brief but furious battle with cancer.

He was born February 26, 1957, in Gering, NE, the middle child of Dallas and Caroline (Schmick) Knotts. Kelly attended Gering schools and graduated from Gering High School in 1975. He met the love of his life Tammy Grasmick in High School at the age of 16 and her 15. They were married September 25, 1976, and to this love affair were born two beautiful children Amber and Chad.

Kelly earned his Eagle Scout and God and Country medals attending many life-changing Boy Scout camps and activities. Kelly farmed the first few years of his marriage with the Grasmick Family Farms before moving on to adult beverage sales and distribution. He then followed in his father’s footsteps and entered the family flooring installation business until retirement.

Kelly was a member and leader of the North Platte Valley Boat Club serving on the board as Commodore and Board Member for too many years to count. The lake was his true home, in 1997, Kelly and Tammy moved permanently to the lake in the home that he built.

He was a man of many talents and connections, making friends everywhere he went. Anyone could call on Kelly at any time for help on projects or creative thinking, he was truly loved by friends and family.

Kelly is survived by wife Tammy, daughter Amber (Josh) Potts, son Chad (Mia) Knotts, grandchildren Caymon Knotts, Addison Potts, McKinley Knotts, Taryn Potts, great-granddaughter June Knotts, mother Caroline Knotts, mother-in-law Shirley Harimon, sisters Ronetta (Rod) Green and Vivian Knotts, sister-in-law Candace Lord (Jeff Fletcher), brother-in-law Steve (Lori) Grasmick, along with many extended family members. Kelly was preceded in death by his father Dallas, father-in-law Melvin Grasmick, and father-in-law Conrad (Blackie) Harimon.

Susan Jones, 67, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2023, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Born on February 4, 1956, in Sedalia, Missouri, Susan was a beacon of love and kindness to all who knew her.

Susan graduated from Central High School and went on to serve as the executive secretary for Buchanan County Academy for over 30 years until her retirement in 2016. Her dedication and hard work were admired by her colleagues. Her professional demeanor, coupled with her warm and friendly personality, made her a beloved figure among her colleagues.

Susan had a zest for life that was contagious. She loved spending time with her family, creating memories that will be cherished forever. She found joy in the simplest things, like the warmth of the sunshine and the beauty of nature. Susan had a special place in her heart for the Lake of the Ozarks, where she spent many happy times with friends who became her "lake family." She was also an avid fan of the Chiefs and enjoyed watching their games with her Eagles family. However, her greatest joy was being a Nana to her grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye.

Susan was the cherished daughter of the late Jack D. and Dorothy “Lou” L. (Smith) Hume. She was the loving sister of Terry Hume and his wife, Yitong. Susan was the devoted wife of Morgan D. Jones II, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage. She was the proud mother of Brea McClain and her husband, Alex, and Jase Jones and his wife, Katie. Susan was also the caring stepmother to Derek Jones and Brett Jones. Susan Jones, 67, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2023, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Born on February 4, 1956, in Sedalia, Missouri, Susan was a beacon of love and kindness to all who knew her.Susan graduated from Central High School and went on to serve as the executive secretary for Buchanan County Academy for over 30 years until her retirement in 2016. Her dedication and hard work were admired by her colleagues. Her professional demeanor, coupled with her warm and friendly personality, made her a beloved figure among her colleagues.Susan had a zest for life that was contagious. She loved spending time with her family, creating memories that will be cherished forever. She found joy in the simplest things, like the warmth of the sunshine and the beauty of nature. Susan had a special place in her heart for the Lake of the Ozarks, where she spent many happy times with friends who became her "lake family." She was also an avid fan of the Chiefs and enjoyed watching their games with her Eagles family. However, her greatest joy was being a Nana to her grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye.Susan was the cherished daughter of the late Jack D. and Dorothy “Lou” L. (Smith) Hume. She was the loving sister of Terry Hume and his wife, Yitong. Susan was the devoted wife of Morgan D. Jones II, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage. She was the proud mother of Brea McClain and her husband, Alex, and Jase Jones and his wife, Katie. Susan was also the caring stepmother to Derek Jones and Brett Jones. Judy K. Heater, 66, of St. Joseph, MO passed away &nbsp;Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Mosaic Life Care. She was born March 10, 1957 in St. Joseph, daughter of Connie and Lyle Sipes. 

She attended &nbsp;Central High. Judy worked at Mead Products for 14 years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and Tripoley and going bowling. She also loved spending her time babysitting her grandchildren.

 Judy was preceded in death by her parents, husband of over 40 years, Timothy Heater, siblings, David Sipes, Sandy Tarwater, and Cindy Parker.

Judy Kay Heater 1957 - 2023

George C. Scott, age 82, passed away September 19, 2023, at Mosaic Life Care. &nbsp;

He was born on August 15, 1941, in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of the late George S. and Anna (Joe) Scott.

He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1959. After graduation George joined the U.S. Army and was a Military Policeman stationed at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. While in the Army, he was assigned to President John F. Kennedy’s helicopter detail.

In 1963 George married Sherrie Winemiller of Sheridan, Mo. at the Sheridan Christian Church. They had two sons, Richard and Kevin. This year they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He was a member of the St, Joseph Police Department in 1963 to 1969 and was a Charter Member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

George was appointed to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, September 14, 1969. After recruit training in Rolla, George was assigned to Troop A, Jackson County, where he worked in the downtown Kansas City area. &nbsp;After three years in Troop A, George transferred to Troop H and was assigned to the Maryville area. In 1975, he transferred to St. Joseph. &nbsp;George was promoted to the rank of corporal in 1983 and in 1989 he was promoted to the rank of sergeant. While he was at Troop H, George was the supervisor of the CVE unit, also the troops firearms instructor, marijuana eradication officer, and had assisted with the desk operation.

In 1993 George transferred to the Division of Drug and Crime Control and was assigned to the Riverboat Gaming unit. He supervised a team of officers that conducted the first background and licensing investigations of riverboat gaming companies and their employees of the Kansas City and St. Joseph areas. George was designated boat enforcement supervisor at the St. Jo Frontier Casino.&nbsp; He retired May 1, 1997, after more than 27 years with the patrol. After retirement he was employed at Heartland Hospital Security Department for almost seven years.

He enjoyed the many family and friend get-to gathers, fishing, camping, boating, trips to Branson, and traveling to many other places. He loved his family and many friends. We all will miss him.

George was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, JoAnn McMillen.

He is survived by his wife, Sherrie of the home; two sons Richard and his wife, Paula of Savannah, Mo; Kevin of King City, Mo; three grandchildren, Jacob of Columbia, Mo; Nathan of Jefferson City, Mo; and Johnna Stegman with husband Garrett of King City; and two great grandchildren, Ruby and Rowen Stegman; a sister, Judy with husband Robert of Country Club; and a brother, Richard with wife, Dianne of Country Club, Mo.

Per George’s wishes, he has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; &nbsp;Sidenfaden Chapel. Inurnment will be held at later date at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum, St. Joseph, Mo. No visitation or services are planned at this time.

Cameron, Mo… Wayne Eugene Mott, age 81, was born June 8, 1942 in Kincaid, KS the son of Frank Oliver and Lola Mae (Roush) Mott and passed away September 13, 2023 in Cameron, Missouri.

Wayne was in the United States Army from 1966 to 1972 and served in Vietnam in the 11th Calvary Black Horse. One July 31, 1992 Wayne and Miki Reno Trisler were united in marriage in Gladstone, MO. He worked at McPike Pharmaceutical and later McKesson Pharmaceutical where he retired after 41 years of service. In 1993 while at a Spiritual Retreat, Wayne received comfort in which he finally felt as though he was home from Vietnam.&nbsp;

He is preceded in death by his parents; son DeWayne “Bud” Mott, and brother David Mott.

Survivors include his wife Miki; son Michael Mott; three step children; sister, Sally (Rusty) Ireland; three grandchildren; and thirteen step grandchildren.

Wayne has been cremated under the care of Turner Funeral Home.&nbsp;

Timothy “Tim” Wendt, 52, of Wathena, Kansas passed away Monday, September 18, 2023.

Tim was born on January 24, 1971, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Lewis and Shirley (Vessar) Wendt.

He attended Troy High School. Tim worked for Mid Cities Trucking Company, where he considered them all family, he also worked for BMS. Tim was an avid sports fan, being part of the recreation board. He was an active announcer for all events and kept all stats for the teams. Tim enjoyed playing cards with his dad and friends, hunting and fishing with his boys, riding his SXS, hanging out with his friends and nephews.

Tim married Jenny McVey on October 24, 1992, in Elwood, Kansas. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, niece, Malorie Adkins, and a nephew, Kyle “Whitey” Smith.

Additional survivors: Britain Wendt (Erin), Cade Wendt (Berkeley) and Jase Wendt. Grandchild, Bristol Wendt, Parents, Lewis and Shirley Wendt, brothers, Lewis Jr. “Butch” (Lauren) Wendt and Dennis Wendt (Diane), sister, Kim (Lloyd) Smith. Johnny was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served on the Finance Committee and participated in bible study and Senior Adults Learning Together (SALT). He enjoyed trains, traveling, riding motorcycles, hunting, watching John Wayne movies and the Kansas City Chiefs. 

Johnny married Mary Guatney on July 1, 1963, in Manhattan, KS; she survives of the home. He is also survived by a son, Travis Trower, Atchison, KS, two daughters, Sonja Betts, Atchison, KS, Alyssa Wallace, Stillwater, OK, a brother, Tim Trower, Atchison, KS, a sister, Melody Moon, Halstead, KS, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren, special caretakers, Travis Trower, Joe and Susan McCoole and Megan and David Rapson. 

He was preceded by his parents, a son, Vernon Trower an organ donor which saved several lives, a brother, Dean Trower, and sisters, Karen Jantz, Julie Elias and Sheila Trower.

John Vernon 'Johnny' Trower Jr. 1944 - 2023

Clarence Edmond Lankford entered this life on Sunday, October 17, 1954. He departed his earthly tabernacle at 68 years of age on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

Clarence was the third son born to the union of Leo Lankford Jr. and Lois Stewart Lankford. Named after his Maternal Grandfather and Maternal Great-Grand Father - Clearance from the Latin meaning clear and Edmond for the English a protector. Clarence received his formal education through the St Joseph School District.

Clarence had numerous jobs and was the primary caregiver for numerous family members. His favorite position was working with his great nephew, Julian, on Uncle J's Fish and Wings Food Truck.

His destination was clear from the beginning that he would take up the mantle of his paternal Uncle Ad and become the protector. He filled the shoes and performed the position's duties without regret. As time progressed and the family increased; again, it was made clear he assumed the additional protector role for his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. This he did with great joy, pride, and above all, with love up until the end.

Clarence, aka Papa, Gukkie, Guk, "Hey" Cuz, Uncle C, was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Lankford Jr and Lois Lankford-Hill, his stepfather Robert L. Hill, and both maternal and paternal grandparents, as well as a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and citizens of the Village.

Linda Kay French, 72, passed peacefully in her sleep at home, joining her Lord, on Friday, September 15th, 2023.

Linda was born on May 11, 1951, in Kansas City, Kansas. At eight, her family moved to Toledo, OH. She finished high school in Toledo and then went to Bowling Green University in Ohio. She was a member and President of the Beta Sigma Phi chapter at the university. In 1973, Linda moved to the Washington DC area to take a job with the FBI. She married her true love and life companion, David (Wayne) French, in 1984 in Springfield, VA and spent 39 years accompanying him on his military career and political adventures. Linda and David loved to travel and to explore new places. Their passion was finding great wines and wineries around the world and in the United States. Together they visited 44 States and 18 countries.

Linda spent her life in many interesting jobs as a bank teller in Toledo, Ohio (5th/3th Bank) and Fort Leavenworth, Kansas (Army National Bank); FBI file clerk in Washington DC; police officer in Fairfax County, VA; police dispatcher in Fairfax; police substation front desk clerk in Fairfax; supporting the Army Community Service as volunteer supervisor in Italy and Germany; vehicle registration front desk receptionist in Germany; real estate secretary for broker at Century 21 in Leavenworth; real estate agent for ERA in Leavenworth; real estate agent assistant with Coldwell Banker in Leavenworth; travel agent/office manager for both leisure and commercial travel at Leavenworth Travel Agency; travel agent for leisure travel clients with Shelton Travel Agency on the Plaza, KCMO; and travel coordinator for the Super Fund Division of the EPA (Region 7). She was President of the Woodland Hills Homeowners Association for four years. She was a member of the Lansing American Legion Post 411 Auxiliary. She was a graduate of the Lansing Citizens Academy and the Leavenworth County Sherriff’s Academy.

Linda’s favorite hobby was singing. She sang in church and community choirs (one with an Italian choir in Italy) her whole life. However, the hobby turned into a vocation when in 1995 she joined Sweet Adelines International, an international organization of women barbershop singers, as a member of a small chorus in Germany. On returning to the United State, Linda joined the Kansas City Chorus of Sweet Adelines. This chorus, with over 120 women, was a top ten chorus of Sweet Adelines choruses in the world. Linda was in the Kansas City Chorus for 18 years and competed on the international stage seven times placing in the top five on five of those appearances. As well as singing in the Sweet Adeline choruses, Linda sang in five different quartets in regional competitions. She sang in many more pick-up quartets for special events. She finally had to give up competing in Sweet Adelines when her health would not allow her to give the 100 percent she wanted to give.

Linda jumped into the political arena late in her life but became an avid activist in local politics. She was Campaign Treasurer for four Kansas State Representatives and one Lansing School Board member. She had been the Republican Precinct Committeewoman for Lansing Ward 4 until this year. She served as the Vice President and current President of the Leavenworth County Republican Women. She was an active supporter of her husband in his two terms in the Kansas Legislature as State Representative for the Kansas House 40th District (Lansing and Leavenworth).&nbsp;

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Donald W. Anthony and Majorie (Lifsey) Anthony in Toledo, Ohio. She is survived by her husband in Lansing, Kansas and a brother, Donald B. Anthony, in North Vencie, Florida. She has a stepdaughter, Ginger Denise Lucus, and a step grandson, Alex Beard, both in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Linda French will be buried at the Leavenworth Veterans Administration in the National Cemetery, Friday, September 29th,2023 at 12:30 PM following a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church in Leavenworth. It will be a closed casket service at the church. A friends and family viewing is scheduled at Davis Funeral Chapel from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 28, 2023. There will be a Celebration of Linda’s Life reception from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM following a graveside service at the cemetery on September 29, 2023.

Linda Kay French, 72, passed peacefully in her sleep at home, joining her Lord, on Friday, September 15th, 2023.Linda was born on May 11, 1951, in Kansas City, Kansas. At eight, her family moved to Toledo, OH. She finished high school in Toledo and then went to Bowling Green University in Ohio. She was a member and President of the Beta Sigma Phi chapter at the university. In 1973, Linda moved to the Washington DC area to take a job with the FBI. She married her true love and life companion, David (Wayne) French, in 1984 in Springfield, VA and spent 39 years accompanying him on his military career and political adventures. Linda and David loved to travel and to explore new places. Their passion was finding great wines and wineries around the world and in the United States. Elizabeth "Ann" Whaley, age 91, passed away peacefully at Vintage Park Assisted Living Facility in Baldwin, Kansas on September 18th. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Leland Whaley, her parents, Charles and Lillian Field, and an infant brother. Ann was a resident of Baldwin for 57 years. She was raised in Hiawatha, Kansas,  and moved to Montana with her parents as a teenager. She was a talented seamstress, and she worked for several years at the Baldwin Ledger.  She was also  employed at Sears and Roebuck. Ann was a devoted wife and mother. She was a proud supporter of her husband's military, civil service, and political career. She enjoyed annual trips with her husband to Florida to spend time with family and friends. She was a strong, feisty, and determined woman. 

Ann is survived by a daughter, Karla and David Grosdidier of Eudora, and two sons, Mark Whaley and Christy Lund of Baldwin, Darren and Paulette Whaley of Avondale, Pennsylvania. Ann was also survived by seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. 

She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, Kansas, on September 20th at 10:30am with Cheryl Mishler officiating.  Interment will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha.

Cecelia Marie Patton 1935 - 2023

Charles Wayne Gillespie, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 17,2023. &nbsp;He was born August 18, 1932 to the late Ernest and Lola Gillespie in Ridgeway, Missouri. 

On October 23, 1960, he married Edna Boyer. &nbsp;Charles served in the United States Air Force. He was a hard working man who provided well for his family. He was self-employed and operated Charlie's Service Station at 22nd and Messanie Streets until 1996 at which time he retired. &nbsp;Upon retirement, he enjoyed helping his buddy Gary Westcott at Hurd Auctions. 

Charles is preceded in death by his wife Edna, two sons, Steve and Gary Boyer, his parents, five brothers, and two sisters. 

He is survived by his daughter Tammy Hogan (Jay), sons Jerry Boyer (Sharon), and Terry Boyer, grandchildren, Brian Lawson (Veronica), and Emily Hogan (Dylan Bender), and great grandchildren, Brian "CoCo" Lawson, Leah Lawson, and Ellie Bender. 

Charles enjoyed and took great pride in his family, he also enjoyed his friends, fishing, auctions, and his kitty cats. He will be deeply missed by many. The family would like to thank Saint Luke's for the excellent care he received from many doctors in his later years. Also, thank you to Tiffany Springs Rehabilitation LTC for the care they provided in the last year and half of his life. A very special thank you to David, Kay, OHE.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 am Saturday, September 30, 2023 with funeral services to start at 11:00 AM Saturday. The interment with military honors will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ricky T. Nichols 70, of St. Joseph, MO passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 in St. Joseph, MO. He was born May 31, 1953 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Anna Belle and Gilbert Nichols. 

Ricky was preceded in death by wife, Carol Sue Nichols, his parents, brothers, Greg and Mike Nichols, sister, Kimberly Ann Cooper. 

Survivors include children: Ricky (Lori) Nichols, Brian (Misty) Nichols, Cathy Nichols, Christy Nichols-Hamilton, and Missy Nichols, siblings: Gib, Danny and Cindy Nichols, 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Barbara " Barb" Marie Ballard 76, of Elwood, KS., passed away Saturday September 16, 2023 in a St. Joseph, MO hospital after a long battle with cancer. She was born March 15, 1947 in St. Joseph, Missouri daughter of the late Evelyn &amp; Albert Budine. 

She graduated from Central High School, class of 1965 then attended Gard Business University. She worked at the local casino for over 21 years. 

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ray. 

Survivors include her children: Maria (Sam) Ballard, Jeff (Andrea) Ballard, and Rosita Sanchez and sister, Becky (Jeff) Cruz. 

Cremation under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home.
