Elizabeth "Ann" Whaley, age 91, passed away peacefully at Vintage Park Assisted Living Facility in Baldwin, Kansas on September 18th.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Leland Whaley, her parents, Charles and Lillian Field, and an infant brother. Ann was a resident of Baldwin for 57 years. She was raised in Hiawatha, Kansas, and moved to Montana with her parents as a teenager. She was a talented seamstress, and she worked for several years at the Baldwin Ledger. She was also employed at Sears and Roebuck. Ann was a devoted wife and mother. She was a proud supporter of her husband's military, civil service, and political career. She enjoyed annual trips with her husband to Florida to spend time with family and friends. She was a strong, feisty, and determined woman.
Ann is survived by a daughter, Karla and David Grosdidier of Eudora, and two sons, Mark Whaley and Christy Lund of Baldwin, Darren and Paulette Whaley of Avondale, Pennsylvania. Ann was also survived by seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, Kansas, on September 20th at 10:30am with Cheryl Mishler officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha.
