Susan Jones, 67, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2023, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Born on February 4, 1956, in Sedalia, Missouri, Susan was a beacon of love and kindness to all who knew her.
Susan graduated from Central High School and went on to serve as the executive secretary for Buchanan County Academy for over 30 years until her retirement in 2016. Her dedication and hard work were admired by her colleagues. Her professional demeanor, coupled with her warm and friendly personality, made her a beloved figure among her colleagues.
Susan had a zest for life that was contagious. She loved spending time with her family, creating memories that will be cherished forever. She found joy in the simplest things, like the warmth of the sunshine and the beauty of nature. Susan had a special place in her heart for the Lake of the Ozarks, where she spent many happy times with friends who became her "lake family." She was also an avid fan of the Chiefs and enjoyed watching their games with her Eagles family. However, her greatest joy was being a Nana to her grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye.
Susan was the cherished daughter of the late Jack D. and Dorothy “Lou” L. (Smith) Hume. She was the loving sister of Terry Hume and his wife, Yitong. Susan was the devoted wife of Morgan D. Jones II, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage. She was the proud mother of Brea McClain and her husband, Alex, and Jase Jones and his wife, Katie. Susan was also the caring stepmother to Derek Jones and Brett Jones. She was the adored Nana to Jaxon and Layla Jones, McCall and Marin McClain, Cecilia and Mary Francis Jones, and Emily and Noah Jones. Susan was also a beloved friend to Bob Barry, who was considered a part of the family.
Graveside Services 1:00 P.M. Monday, Memorial Park Cemetery. The procession will leave from Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
