Missouri Western State University opened up their basketball season on the road on Thursday in Claremore, OK taking on Rogers State, and both the men and women got their seasons started off on the right track with a pair of wins

Second year head coach Candi Whitaker led her team to an 83-81 win to start off the evening for the Griffons.&nbsp; It was a pair of freshman that paced the lady Griffon squad in Mary Fultz and Camille Evans who paced the team with 18 points each.

Evans was ultimately the one that sealed the victory for the Lady Griffons, laying the ball up and in with five seconds left on the clock, giving the Griffons the lead in what was a comeback effort for the team.&nbsp; It wasn't an easy win as the Griffons trailed by 18 points at halftime.

It was a debut night for much Whitaker's team as the Lady Griffons debuted ten new faces, including Fultz and Evans.

For the Griffon men it was a back and forth effort with Rogers State in the debut game of new men's head coach Will Martin, who took over for Sundance Wicks after his departure in the offseason.

The Griffons saw themselves tied at halftime at 25 a piece, then both teams went on to score 26 in the second half to force overtime, and that's where Missouri Western took off putting up 17 to win the game 68-55.

Much like last season it was junior Tyrell Carroll who led the team with 17 points, Carroll last season averaged 17.7 points per game, while junior Q Mays added 13 points in the game.

The Griffon women will now get set to continue their road trip heading to Tahlequah, OK to take on Northeastern State, who are coming off a win over Northwest Missouri State University, with a 1 pm tipoff time

Meanwhile the men will prepare for their next matchup on December 3rd against Lincoln University, back at the MWSU Fieldhouse, after their matchup with Northeastern State was postponed earlier this week until December 8th

Missouri Western opens season with sweep; Men win overtime thriller

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Monday that Head Coach Andy Reid has signed a contract extension with the club. Reid, in the midst of his eighth season with the team, has led the Chiefs to an 85-36 regular season record, six playoff appearances in seven seasons, back-to-back AFC Championship Games and one Super Bowl title.

Reid, entering his 22nd season as an NFL head coach, owns a career regular season record of 215-129-1 (.625). He's won 230 total games including the playoffs, the second-most victories among active NFL head coaches (Bill Belichick – 308), and is fifth all-time in wins among head coaches in NFL history. Reid added Super Bowl Champion to his resume in 2019 after defeating the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV.

Reid was hired as the club's 13th head coach in franchise history on January 7, 2013. He joined the Chiefs after 14 seasons as Head Coach/Executive Vice President of Football Operations of the Philadelphia Eagles where he compiled a 130-93-1 (.583) regular season record. In his career, he has earned 10 division titles, five NFC Championship appearances, two AFC Championship appearances and two Super Bowl appearances. Reid's teams have made the playoffs 15 times (15-14 record).

The Chiefs also announced on Monday that General Manager Brett Veach has signed a contract extension with the club. Veach, in his eighth season with the team and fourth as GM, has quickly become one of the most successful General Managers in the National Football League.

This offseason alone, Veach and his team orchestrated deals that will keep QB Patrick Mahomes, TE Travis Kelce and DT Chris Jones in a Chiefs uniform for the foreseeable future. Veach is responsible for acquiring key roster additions such as S Tyrann Mathieu, DE Frank Clark and WR Sammy Watkins, among others. At just 42 years old, Veach became the second-youngest GM to win a Super Bowl after the club defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV.

BELLE PLAINE, Kan. (AP) — A small community college in northeast Kansas has settled a lawsuit accusing it of directing coaches to recruit more white athletes and targeting Black prospective students with excessive scrutiny such background checks before offering scholarships. 

A brief stipulation of dismissal was filed Monday by the American Civil Liberties Union of Kansas. The ACLU had alleged in the lawsuit that Highland Community College instituted a plan to reduce the number of black students. 

The college has said its recruiting is not determined by students’ race or ethnicity and denied it ever instructed coaches to exclude out-of-state athletes from recruitment.

The ACLU alleges in a federal lawsuit filed Thursday that Highland Community College instituted a plan six months ago to reduce the number of black students. It contends the college’s strategy included expelling black students for minor or bogus infractions and singling them out for dorm room and vehicle searches, discriminatory surveillance and harassment.

Filed on behalf of four former and current students, the lawsuit names Eric Ingmire, vice president for student services, and Bryan Dorrel, the college’s athletic director, as defendants. They did not immediately respond to email messages seeking comment.

Highland Community College has more than 3,200 students, 87% of whom are white. During the 2019 season, 104 of the 111 football players were black. The 2020 football recruiting class includes “a significantly lower number” of black athletes, the lawsuit alleges.

The lawsuit alleges Dorrel told coaches to recruit “more local kids” and “less Southern kids.”

Kansas college settles lawsuit over recruitment of athletes

 Alex Smith took another big step in his personal comeback. His team, on the other hand, fell just short again after another late rally. Smith’s first start since November 2018 nearly finished in storybook fashion when he threw for 390 yards and led Washington back from a 21-point third-quarter deficit. 

But the Detroit Lions ultimately prevailed 30-27. Smith appeared twice in relief earlier this season, an inspiring return to the field after he endured a broken leg, 17 surgeries and a life-threatening infection. He nearly led a big comeback last weekend, but Washington lost that game 23-20 to the New York Giants.

With head coach Ron Rivera benching Dwayne Haskins and Kyle Allen suffering a season ending ankle injury, it was Alex Smith that got the call to start for Washington against Detroit.

While all of Washington's offensive touchdowns came on the ground, two from running back Antonio Gibson and one from backup running back J.D. McKissic, Smith showed he could still be mobile in the pocket and throw the ball downfield.

The Northeastern State RiverHawks's men's basketball program is enduring positive COVID-19 cases causing the delay in the men's game's.

&nbsp; The Northwest Missouri State University's men's basketball season opener at Northeastern State University has been postponed until Dec. 31 at 1 p.m.

The Missouri Western men's basketball game at Northeastern State&nbsp; has been rescheduled for Saturday, December 8th at 3:00 p.m in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.&nbsp;&nbsp;

While the men's program has had struggles with positive tests, the women are still set to play, but tipoff times have been moved up slightly.

The Northwest women will play their season opener in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, on Nov. 19. The tip time has been adjusted to 6 p.m. While the&nbsp; Missouri Western women's basketball game will go on as scheduled on November 21st with a new start time of 1:00 pm.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Braggin' Rights is back. Both Mizzou and Illinois have worked step-by-step in coordination to ensure the historic rivalry matchup continues in 2020 in light of challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic preventing the game from occurring in St. Louis.

The game is typically played in St. Louis at Scottrade Center, a neutral site nearly equidistant for fans of the rivals on the hardwood, but COVID put that plan on pause for the year. 

Still hoping to see the rivalry play out, however, both sides went back to the drawing board to find a way to make it happen, determining that this year's event would be played on one of the two campuses—the coin would decide which one. Missouri won the coin flip and the right to host the game on December 12 at Mizzou Arena.

On Thursday the Mizzou Athletics youtube channel, as well as both school's respective websites, aired&nbsp;Braggin' Rights on Campus: Coin Flip Special a program hosted by national basketball personality Andy Katz.

The program featured&nbsp;interview segments with several key figures from both institutions including both head coaches, Cuonzo Martin and Brad Underwood, Mizzou President &amp; Chancellor Dr. Mun Y. Choi and Illinois Chancellor Robert Jones, and Athletic Directors, Jim Sterk and Josh Whitman as well as an appearance from Mizzou senior standout Jeremiah Tilmon, Jr., and Illinois star junior Ayo Dosunmu&nbsp;

Mizzou men's basketball gets first win of season; will host Braggin Rights game

Smale's new book titled The Keys to the Kingdom details the history of the Kansas City Chiefs.

"It's basically a series of short features on the people and the events that have shaped the franchise's history" Smale says "Going all the way back to the founding of the franchise and going back to the founding of the AFL by Lamar Hunt and it covers moving to Kansas City in 1963."

Smale adds that the book touches on the tremendous success of the team in the AFL going all the way up to this past season’s Super Bowl win

Missouri Western's football game scheduled for Saturday, November 14th, at West Texas A&amp;M, has been canceled due to COVID-19. The game will not be rescheduled.

The Griffons also announced that head football coach Matt Williamson tested positive for COVID-19 during the team's weekly NCAA testing requirements on Wednesday. Additional members of the Griffon coaching staff are also in the athletic department's COVID-19 protocols, preventing the Griffons from competing this weekend.

The football program's overall positivity rate remains low, with all student-athletes who competed against Pittsburg State last weekend testing negative during this week's testing. Griffon Football has experienced a positivity rate of under 2% since weekly testing began in late September.

"We remain incredibly impressed with the commitment our student-athletes and staff have displayed in fighting the spread of COVID-19 within the athletic department," said vice president for intercollegiate athletics Josh Looney. 

"Our weekly testing continues to reinforce the virus mitigation strategies our medical team has put into action. Unfortunately, recent positive cases have targeted a very specific portion of our football program that prevented us from moving forward with competition this weekend."

The Griffons are currently slated to conclude a modified fall 2020 schedule at Nebraska-Kearney on November 21st. Missouri Western intends to finish its fall season in Kearney, NE pending the results of next week's rounds of COVID-19 testing.

Missouri Western against West Texas A&M canceled; coach tests positive

COLUMBIA, MO. – Braggin' Rights is back. Both Mizzou and Illinois have worked step-by-step in coordination to ensure the historic rivalry matchup continues in 2020 in light of challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic preventing the game from occurring in St. Louis.

The two programs have agreed to square off on campus at either Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Mo., or State Farm Center in Champaign, Ill., on Saturday, Dec. 12. Television designations and tip times will be decided at a later date.

To fairly decide which venue will feature the premier matchup, national college basketball personality Andy Katz will host a Braggin' Rights On Campus: Coin Flip Special live production on Facebook, YouTube, and both schools' official athletic websites, MUTigers.com and FightingIllini.com at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday, Nov. 12.

Braggin' Rights on Campus: Coin Flip Special will feature interview segments with several key figures from both institutions including both head coaches, Cuonzo Martin and Brad Underwood, Mizzou President &amp; Chancellor Dr. Mun Y. Choi and Illinois Chancellor Robert Jones, and Athletic Directors, Jim Sterk and Josh Whitman. Mizzou senior standout Jeremiah Tilmon, Jr., and Illinois star junior Ayo Dosunmu will also join the program.

At the conclusion of the show, Katz will flip a two-sided coin that displays Mizzou's "Oval Tiger" on one side and the Illinois 'Block I" on the other, and whichever institution's logo lands right-side up will host the 2020 edition of Braggin' Rights.

In an effort to maintain some of the neutrality that St. Louis' Enterprise Center provides for this annual contest from a staging standpoint, the institutions mutually agreed that fans would not be able to attend the game at either site. Following the 2020 edition of Braggin' Rights, plans are to continue holding the event at the Enterprise Center in 2021 and beyond.

Mizzou and Illinois have met 50 times in program history and the 2020 edition will mark the first time Braggin' Rights isn't played in St. Louis since an overtime thriller in Champaign on Dec. 4, 1979. Illinois leads the all-time series 32-18 with Mizzou winning the last two outings. The two teams have met in Champaign five times and Columbia on five occasions in addition to one lone matchup in Kansas City on Dec. 16, 1946.

2020 'Braggin Rights game between Missouri and Illinois on; site decided by coin flip

Missouri Western women's basketball coach Candi Whitaker has announced the next generation of Griffons, signing four MWSU commits for the 2021-22 season.

All four high school signees come from the states of Kansas and Texas.

Missouri Western Women add four on National Signing Day

Head coach Austin Meyer has signed seven recruits to the Northwest Missouri State University women's basketball team.

Kendall Clatt is a 5'10", shooting guard from Indianola, Iowa (Indianola HS). Clatt is a three-time all-Little Hawkeye Conference selection for head coach Jeff Janssen. As a junior, she averaged 13.1 points and 4.9 rebounds. She led the conference in three-point field goal percentage (42%) in 2019-2020. 

Clatt had a 59% effective field goal percentage over her past two prep seasons. She is an academic all-conference honoree and a nominee for the Indianola Community Youth Foundation. She is the daughter of Maggie and Travis Clatt.

Lauren Eiman is a 6'1", forward from St. Joseph, Missouri (Central HS). Eiman tallied honorable mention all-conference honors as a junior. She tallied career highs in points (24), rebounds (14) and blocked shots (6) as a prep performer. 

Eiman is a three-time all-city pick. Eiman tallied all-district honors as a freshman and a sophomore. She earned academic all-state honors and holds a 4.0 GPA. She is the daughter of Brandon and Mindy Eiman.

Kelsey Fields is a 6'2", center from Creston, Iowa (Creston HS). As a junior, she averaged 17.6 points and 12.7 rebounds. She led the state in rebounding in 2018-19 and eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in scoring. She holds the school record for rebounds in a game and in a career. 

She tallied all-state honors in 2019-2020. Fields is a three-time all-conference honoree for head coach Tony Neubauer. She is the daughter of Dan and Rebecca Fields.

Lauren Gillig is a 6'1", guard from Blue Springs, Missouri (Blue Spring South HS). As a junior, Gillig averaged 11.5 points and 5.2 rebounds. 

She is a two-time all-district and all-conference performer for head coach Kory Lower. Gillig holds a 4.2 GPA and is a member of National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Mitch and Tiffany Gillig.

Laini Joseph is a 5'9", guard from Cameron, Missouri (Cameron HS). As a junior, she averaged 19.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists. She enters her senior season having earned all-conference honors her first three years for head coach Matt Wenck. 

Joseph notched all-state honors as a junior. She is a member of National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Kent and Anne Wamsley.

Lindsey Kelderman is a 5'6" guard from Urbandale, Iowa (Waukee HS). Kelderman was named to the 2020 Iowa All-State Tournament team for head coach Chris Guess. As a junior, she averaged 11 points per game while shooting 43% from three-point range. 

Entering her senior season, Kelderman has 621 points, 195 rebounds, 159 assists, 115 steals. She has been a part of three state tournament teams and one that finished runner up. 

She is a three-time all-CIML performer, including first-team status in 2020. ] She is a member of National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Justin and Anji Kelderman.

Peyton Kelderman is a 5'8", guard from Urbandale, Iowa (Waukee HS). As a junior, she averaged 10.7 points, 3.4 assists (2:1 assist to turnover ratio) and shot 43% from three-point range.

Northwest Missouri State women add seven; one from St. Joseph

The November 14 Georgia at Missouri football game has been postponed due to combination of positive tests, contact tracing and subsequent quarantining of individuals within one position group of the Tigers' football program, consistent with Southeastern Conference COVID-19 management requirements.

Because Missouri has a game tentatively scheduled for December 12, the opportunity to reschedule the Georgia at Missouri game will need to be evaluated. The rescheduling of games on the remaining SEC football schedule may include December 19 as a playing date.

This is now the fourth game within the SEC Conference to be postponed this week due to COVID-19.&nbsp; Earlier this week on Monday, the conference announced that Mississippi State and Auburn would be rescheduled.

On Monday, Texas A&amp;M halted all football activities because of multiple positive coronavirus tests, and by Tuesday they had also had their game against Tennessee postponed until December 12th.

The November 14 Georgia at Missouri football game has been postponed due to combination of positive tests, contact tracing and subsequent quarantining of individuals within one position group of the Tigers' football program, consistent with Southeastern Conference COVID-19 management requirements.Because Missouri has a game tentatively scheduled for December 12, the opportunity to reschedule the Georgia at Missouri game will need to be evaluated. Missouri game against Georgia postponed due to COVID; 4th SEC game to be postponed

The MIAA announced its preseason coaches poll for the 2020-2021 women's basketball season during the 2020 MIAA Basketball Virtual Media Day Presented By Seigfreid Bingham.

Emporia State topped this year's coaches poll with a total of 153 points and four first-place votes. Last year, the Lady Hornets finished runner-up at the MIAA Women's Basketball Championship and qualified for the NCAA Championship before it was canceled due to the COVID-19 Global Health Pandemic. 

Nebraska Kearney earned the most first-place votes with six and was tabbed second with 146 total points. The Association's defending regular-season and tournament champion, Central Missouri, was picked third with 143 points and three first-place votes. Pittsburg State was slotted fourth and accumulated 140 points from the coaches. The final first-place vote went to Fort Hays State, which rounded out the top five with 125 points.

Missouri Western was slated sixth followed by Central Oklahoma in seventh with Washburn at eighth and Northwest Missouri in ninth. The top ten was closed out by Missouri Southern. Newman trailed MSSU in 11th with Northeastern State at 12th and Rogers State in 13th. The 2020-2021 preseason coaches poll was rounded out by Lincoln.

Missouri Western led by second year head coach Candi Whitaker will have the look of a brand new team this year, led by five returning seniors.&nbsp; Whitaker in her first season at the helm led the Griffons to a 21-8 record, ultimately falling in the first round of the MIAA tournament to Nebraska Kearney 68-62

Whitaker will look to repeat her success with the Griffons as they begin on November 19th at Rogers State in Claremore, OK with a 5:30 pm tipoff time&nbsp;

The ninth place finish for the Bearcat women marks the highest selection in eight years for the Bearcats in the MIAA preseason poll since the program was tabbed seventh in the 2012-13 preseason poll.

Northwest Missouri, the defending MIAA regular-season and tournament champion, was picked first in the preseason coaches poll with 169 points and 13 first-place votes. The Bearcats have won seven consecutive MIAA regular-season titles, the longest streak in Association History

&nbsp; The Bearcats are slated to open up the 2020-2021 season Nov. 19 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, against Northeastern State University. Northwest is 71-5 in MIAA play over the previous four seasons. Northwest has won 39 of its last 40 MIAA matchups. The Bearcats begin the 2020-2021 season riding a 23-game win streak and have posted a mark of 69-1 over the previous two seasons. The Bearcats also possess a record of 131-6 over the past four seasons – the most wins for an NCAA Division II program over a four-year stretch in the history of college basketball.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Northwest men projected to win MIAA; Missouri Western ranked #5 in preseason poll

Northwest Missouri State University's football scrimmage against the University of Central Missouri set for Saturday, Nov. 21, has been canceled.

The Bearcats have experienced positives COVID-19 cases and quarantine protocols, therefore, out of concern for the safety of those involved, the scrimmage has been canceled and no make-up date will be set.

"It's hard to describe the disappointment of not being able to compete this fall," head coach Rich Wright said. "We really wanted a chance for our group of seniors to get the opportunity to run out of the tunnel to Bearcat Stadium. 

"Our guys put in the time and effort on the practice field with the intention that it would culminate with some competition. Having to tell them it won't happen is tough. We will put our focus on recruiting and begin preparations for our spring drills."

Northwest cancels second scrimmage against UCM, fall football canceled

Patrick Mahomes threw for 372 yards and four touchdowns, Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill each went over 100 yards receiving, and the Kansas City Chiefs held on to beat Carolina 33-31 on Sunday when Panthers kicker Joey Slye missed a 67-yard field-goal attempt wide right on the final play. 

Christian McCaffrey finished with 18 carries for 69 yards and a touchdown while catching 10 passes for 82 yards and another score in his return from an ankle injury. Teddy Bridgewater threw for 310 yards and two TDs with Curtis Samuel catching nine balls for 105 yards and the other score.

Carolina pulled within two points early in the fourth quarter, as Panthers' quarterback Teddy Bridgewater scrambled for a 4-yard touchdown to keep their hopes live, but a failed surprise onside kick provided Kansas City with excellent field position and set up a 2-yard scoring strike from quarterback Patrick Mahomes to wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

That put the Chiefs up by nine points, but Carolina kept fighting, as a 1-yard touchdown plunge by Panthers' tailback Christian McCaffrey again brought the margin within just two points in the closing minutes of the game.

The Chiefs couldn't pick up a first down on their ensuing possession, and with just 1:33 left in the game, Bridgewater drove the Panthers to midfield to set up a potential game-winning, 67-yard field goal by Joey Slye. The kick sailed wide right as time expired, however, and that was the game.

The result was a hard-fought victory for Kansas City, who trailed for much of the contest as Carolina took quick 14-3 lead behind an aggressive approach that included a fourth-down conversion and a fake punt. The Chiefs worked away at that deficit over the first three quarters, however, outscoring the Panthers by 13 points following Carolina's early advantage.

That included a 55-yard field goal by kicker Harrison Butker, who connected on a pair of attempts in the contest and tallied his third kick of 55+ yards this season. Entering Sunday's slate of games, no other kicker had more than two such kicks.

The Chiefs will now head into their bye week before taking on the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday Night Football on Nov. 22.

Chiefs defense struggles to slow down Panthers, win in 33-31 nailbiter

On Tuesday night it was announced that recently retired Royals left fielder Alex Gordon, earned his eight Gold Glove award, tying him for the most in Royals history with Royals great second baseman Frank White.

Now, Alex Gordon has earned another award at the end of his illustrious career.&nbsp; Between Tuesday and Friday night, fans voted and analytics were given for the American and National league players to earn the Rawlings Platinum Glove Award.&nbsp; Gordon was the winner of the award on the American League side, the second Platinum Glove of his career.

The winners of the 2020 Rawlings Platinum Glove Awards, which are presented each year to the best overall defensive player in each league, were announced on MLB Network on Friday night, and they are no strangers to the honor -- in the American League, Royals left fielder Alex Gordon won the award for the second time, and Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado won for the fourth consecutive year in the National League.

Gordon, who announced that 2020 would be his final Major League season following a 14-year career,&nbsp; was a fixture in the Royals' lineup for all 14 seasons. He is a three-time All-Star and helped lead Kansas City to back-to-back World Series appearances in 2014 and '15, with the Royals winning their first championship in 30 years when they defeated the Mets in '15.

"A lot of players today, they hate the outfield because there's so much time to think out there," Gordon said on MLB Network following the awards announcement. "But in between pitches, before it's about ready to happen, I always think about just what might happen, what I need to do, where I need to be. Visualization in the outfield and kind of that preparation before the play happens is huge and helped me out a lot."

Gordon was initially a third baseman for Kansas City, but moved to left field full-time following the 2010 season. He said he has many people to thank for his ability to transition to the outfield, as well as get through several injuries that hampered him over the years, but above all, his parents had the biggest influence on his successful Major League career.

Alex Gordon's career officially ends with Platinum Glove award

The path for the Kansas Jayhawks who are still searching for their first win of the 2020 season did not get any easier on Saturday as they traveled to Norman, OK. for a matchup with the #19 Oklahoma Sooners

Despite an interception from Kenny Logan Jr., for the second-straight game and a career game from freshman running back Daniel Hishaw Jr., Kansas fell to Oklahoma 62-9 Saturday afternoon at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

The Sooners used three rushing touchdowns and one passing score to go with a field goal to build a 31-0 lead in the second quarter. Field goal kicker Jacob Borcila got Kansas on the scoreboard right before halftime when he connected on a 32-yard field goal as time expired in the half.

Hishaw, a true freshman from Oklahoma, started for the second-straight game. He finished with 73 yards on 10 carries, after scoring his first-career touchdown a week ago against Iowa State. Fellow true freshman Luke Grimm led the team in receiving yards with 61 on four catches.

The Jayhawks fell to 0-7 on the season and 0-6 in Big 12 Play. The Sooners, ranked No. 19 in both major polls, improved to 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the league.

Kansas will have next weekend off with its third and final open week of the season. The Jayhawks will return to action on Nov. 21 against Texas.

 </figure>The path for the Kansas Jayhawks who are still searching for their first win of the 2020 season did not get any easier on Saturday as they traveled to Norman, OK. for a matchup with the #19 Oklahoma SoonersDespite an interception from Kenny Logan Jr., for the second-straight game and a career game from freshman running back Daniel Hishaw Jr., Kansas fell to Oklahoma 62-9 Saturday afternoon at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.The Sooners used three rushing touchdowns and one passing score to go with a field goal to build a 31-0 lead in the second quarter. Field goal kicker Jacob Borcila got Kansas on the scoreboard right before halftime when he connected on a 32-yard field goal as time expired in the half.Hishaw, a true freshman from Oklahoma, started for the second-straight game. He finished with 73 yards on 10 carries, after scoring his first-career touchdown a week ago against Iowa State. Fellow true freshman Luke Grimm led the team in receiving yards with 61 on four catches.The Jayhawks fell to 0-7 on the season and 0-6 in Big 12 Play. The Sooners, ranked No. 19 in both major polls, improved to 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the league.Kansas will have next weekend off with its third and final open week of the season. The Jayhawks will return to action on Nov. 21 against Texas.
