The Missouri Western soccer team won its fourth straight game as they defeated Washburn, 3-1, at Yager Stadium Saturday. The Griffons are now 4-1-1 and 1-0 in MIAA Northwest division games.
The Griffons outshot the Ichabods 16-8 and had six corner kicks. Missouri Western is back in action on Friday as they travel to Maryville to play Northwest Missouri State at 3:00 p.m. from Bearcat Pitch.
Volleyball
The 18th-ranked Northwest Missouri State volleyball team performed a 3-0 sweep over Missouri Western on Saturday at the Fieldhouse. Northwest, who’s now 10-2 overall and 4-2 in the MIAA North, won by set scores of 25-12, 25-21 and 25-20.
The Bearcats will wrap up the spring regular season this weekend with a pair of home matches. Northwest will take on Fort Hays State Friday at 6 p.m. and then Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Missouri Western hosts Nebraska-Kearney on Friday night at 6 and Fort Hays State on Saturday at 3.
Baseball
Northwest Missouri State baseball took two out of three games against Missouri Western. The Griffons won the series finale 9-1 Saturday, while the Bearcats swept a Friday doubleheader, 6-4 and 8-4.
Missouri Western hosts Fort Hays State for a three-game series this weekend. The first game on Friday starts at 5 p.m. The Bearcats play at Ottawa (KS) on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
Softball
Missouri Western softball split a doubleheader with Emporia State Saturday, losing the first game 4-3 in eight innings, but winning the second one 9-3. The Griffons (17-7) play a doubleheader at McKendree (IL) on Tuesday starting at noon.
