The Northwest Missouri State football team will hold a joint football practice with the University of Sioux Falls at Bearcat Stadium from 1-3 p.m. this Saturday.

Maryville native Jon Anderson is the head coach at Sioux Falls and Bearcat head coach Rich Wright said the idea to practice with them came about because of Anderson's ties to the community.

"Coach Anderson is from Maryville and we thought it would be great to be able to host them at Bearcat Stadium for a joint practice with the two programs," Wright said. "It won't have the look and feel of a spring game, but having the opportunity to face an opponent in controlled drills gives us some different looks.

"Sioux Falls is a playoff-caliber team and will be a good measuring stick. They were a playoff team in 2019 and have won four NAIA national titles in 1996, 2006, 2008 and 2009."

Those who choose to attend the practice will fall under the University's mask mandate and must observe social distancing at Bearcat Stadium.
