St. Joseph Central alum and Iowa Western pitcher Samson Holcomb announced on Twitter Thursday evening that he’s transferring and coming home.
Holcomb says he’ll play for Missouri Western baseball beginning next season.
A right-handed pitcher, Holcomb has appeared in seven games for Iowa Western so far this season, and he has a 1-0 record in 12.1 innings pitched. He has struck out 13 batters while walking only two, garnering a 1.46 ERA.
Holcomb’s season at Iowa Western was cut short after 24 games last year due to COVID-19. Holcomb was all set to play for the St. Joseph Mustangs last summer, but the pandemic prevented that from happening as well.
Holcomb had his high school career cut short due to an arm injury in his senior year.
