Jakob Junis ran his scoreless streak to 14 innings and the Kansas City Royals staked him to a seven-run lead before their bullpen gave most of it back in a 7-5 win over the Toronto Blue Jays Thursday.

Scott Barlow put two on with one out in the ninth for Kansas City before getting Bo Bichette to pop out and striking out Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for his first save of the season.

Jorge Soler, Hunter Dozier and Hanser Alberto each had a pair of hits. The Royals are 7-4 and have won three straight and four of their last five to take over first place in the AL Central.

Game two against the Bluejays is set for 7:10 Friday evening weather permitting. Mike Minor will start on the hill for Kansas City. Coverage of Friday's game will start at 6:30 on KFEQ Radio - 680 AM and 95.3 FM in St. Joseph.
