High School Football Scoreboard- Dec. 4-5 2020

Despite a dominant performance from its defense, the Kansas Jayhawks dropped a tight game Saturday to Texas Tech, 16-13 at Jones AT&amp;T Stadium.

The Jayhawks fell to 0-9 on the season and 0-8 in Big 12 play. Texas Tech concluded its season with a 4-6 record and a 3-6 mark in league play.

Tech placekicker Jonathan Garibay connected on a 36-yard field goal with 5:36 remaining to pull the Red Raiders ahead to give them a 16-13 lead, which held up to be the final.

The Kansas defense shined in the defeat, forcing a season-high four turnovers, with freshman cornerback Karon Prunty accounting for two of them with an interception and a forced fumble. Nate Betts and Marcus Harris also forced fumbles for the Jayhawks. Kansas entered the game with just five turnovers on the season.

Offensively, true freshman running back Daniel Hishaw Jr., had his second-straight big game. Hishaw scored a critical 12-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter and rushed for a career-high 87 yards on 22 carries. The 12-yard score was Hishaw’s second-career touchdown after scoring against Iowa State earlier this year.

It is the second-straight week a true freshman led Kansas in rushing after Amauri Pesek-Hickson rushed for 100 yards last week against TCU.

Prunty led the Jayhawk defense with four tackles, an interception, a pass breakup and a forced fumble. The interception was the first of his young career. Kyle Mayberry and Ricky Thomas each led the Jayhawks with seven tackles apiece. Betts had six tackles to go with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Nick Channel added five tackles and a sack in the loss for Kansas.

Quarterback Miles Kendrick finished the day with 102 passing yards and 23 rushing yards. He had a team-long 20-yard rush to set up the Hishaw touchdown in the fourth quarter. True freshman Luke Grimm led Kansas with six catches for 41 yards.

The Jayhawks will return to action Saturday, Dec. 12, where they will face Texas in the regular-season finale. Kick is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., and will be televised by ESPNU.

Kansas loses close battle with Texas Tech falling 16-13

K-State honored 21 seniors on Saturday afternoon, a group that has led the Wildcats to more than a few memorable wins in Manhattan. Senior Day was not one of them, as K-State, 4-6, 4-5 in the Big 12, fell 69-31 to Texas in its regular season finale at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

The Wildcats struggled to keep pace with Texas on defense, as the Longhorns racked up 334 yards on the ground and 274 yards throwing the football. The 69 points are the most K-State has ever given up to Texas.

Deuce Vaughn continued to rewrite the K-State record books on Saturday with two touchdowns and 221 all-purpose yards against the Longhorns.&nbsp; With his performance on Saturday, Vaughn now holds the K-State freshman record for yards from scrimmage, all-purpose yards and rushing yards. 

On K-State's first scoring drive of the game, Vaughn broke off a 19-yard rushing touchdown, putting moves on the Texas defense on his way to the end zone. It would be a theme throughout the afternoon. On all five scoring drives for the Wildcats, Vaughn had a catch or reception of at least ten yards. 

When he wasn't setting the Wildcats up with scoring opportunities, Vaughn was more than happy to do it himself. His second touchdown of the day came after a 12-play, 80-yard drive for the Wildcats, as Vaughn added an exclamation point by hurdling a man into the end zone.

With nine touchdowns in 2020, Vaughn now leads all true freshmen in the country.&nbsp; He wasn't the only player to step up when the Wildcats had the football, as Malik Knowles turned in his best game of the season with 95 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Longhorns. 

Howard broke the K-State freshman record for touchdowns with his third quarter strike to Knowles, his eighth touchdown pass of the season.&nbsp; Howard finished with the day with 174 yards and a pair of touchdowns through the air, along with 79 yards on the ground. 

The Wildcats can finish no worse than seventh in the Big 12 after Saturday's loss.

Kansas State drops season finale to Texas 69-31

The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team improved to 2-2 on the season with an 85-55 win over Lincoln University. This was the most points scored by the Bearcat women in MIAA play since a 98-77 victory over Lincoln on February 25, 2017.

Five Bearcats scored in double figures for the first time since a 2016 win over Henderson State. Atwood's career high 16 points carried Northwest, followed by Kylie Coleman (14 points), Hartnett (12 points), McConkey (11 points), and Mia Stillman (10 points).

McConkey also edged a triple-double with eight assists and seven rebounds to lead Northwest.

The Bearcats take on Drake University in an exhibition match up in Des Moines next Thursday at 6 p.m

The No. 1-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball team rolled to a 30-point win over the Lincoln Blue Tigers Saturday at Bearcat Arena improving to 3-0 on the season

The dynamic duo of senior Ryan Hawkins and junior Trevor Hudgins took care of the majority of the scoring in the 84-54 home victory. Hawkins blitzed the Blue Tigers with 34 points and a team-best nine rebounds. Hudgins's efficiency led him to 19 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 at the line. Hudgins also made all five of his three-point field goal attempts and dished out a team-high five assists.

The Bearcats did not trail in the contest and saw the Blue Tigers tie the contest on only two occasions in the opening minutes. Northwest led by as many as 32 points as it knocked off the Blue Tigers for the 13th straight time. Northwest has won 29 of the last 31 meetings between the squads since 1999.

Northwest will return to the floor next Saturday in St. Joseph against the Missouri Western Griffons. Tip time has been changed to 1:30 p.m. for the women's game and the men's game will follow at approximately 3:30 p.m. at the Missouri Western Fieldhouse.

Northwest sweeps Lincoln in doubleheader homestand

Freshman K Harrison Mevis made a 32-yard field goal as time expired to help Mizzou Football improve to 5-3, 5-3 and complete a 50-48 Tiger win over SEC West permanent cross-division rival Arkansas&nbsp; 50-48, Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium. 

Mizzou trailed by 14 in the fourth quarter but outscored the Razorbacks 24-8 over the final 13:15 to run Mizzou's winning streak against Arkansas to five. The Tigers have won five of their last six with the only loss in that span coming at top-10-ranked Florida.

After Arkansas converted a two-point conversion to take a 48-47 lead with 0:43 left, Mizzou drove 60 yards to set up Mevis' 32-yarder.

Mizzou senior RB Larry Rountree III rushed for 185 yards and three touchdowns for his 13th career 100-yard game and eighth career game with multiple scores. He has six rushing scores over his last two games, the most over a two-game span for a Mizzou running back since Brad Smith had six in back-to-back games against No. 1 Oklahoma and Texas Tech in 2003. Rountree is also the first Mizzou running back this century to have six rushing touchdowns in a two-game span.

Junior RB Tyler Badie had two TD runs and has three over the last two games, and redshirt freshman QB Connor Bazelak threw for 380 yards, including a perfect 4-of-4 for 54 yards on the final drive. He is now 6-1 as a starter.

He is just the fourth Tiger kicker to make three kicks of 50+ yards in his career and is the first Tiger with five field goals in a game since Tucker McCann knocked in five vs. South Carolina on Oct. 6, 2018.

Missouri’s All-American candidate linebacker Nick Bolton was ejected for a controversial targeting call against Arkansas wide receiver John David White.

White attempted to make the catch, and Bolton absolutely leveled him at midfield. The call on the field was targeting, and somehow, the review “confirmed” the call on the field, which disqualified Bolton from the game.

Missouri fans may still not be happy about the decision, but the SEC did give confirmation and an explanation for the decision to eject Bolton from the game for the hit.

Mizzou will return home next Saturday for a Dec. 12 tilt with SEC East Division rival Georgia. A kick time has not been set for that game yet.

Missouri uses fourth quarter comeback to win Battle Line Rivalry

In the latest MWSU Fieldhouse home opener in quite some time, seven Griffons made their home debut and were victorious in a gritty 62-55 over Lincoln.

Sophomore Logan Hughes had her best game for the Lady Griffons, scoring a career high 14 points and tying a career high with 5 rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench including three makes from behind the three point arc. 

 Freshman Mary Fultz also had a solid night off the bench scoring in double figures for the second time in three games with 11 points and also had two steals.&nbsp; Once again the Griffons went deep into the bench with twelve players seeing action while ten scored in the contest. 

With the win, the Griffs improve to 2-1 on the season and are now 15-1 under Coach Whitaker on Tom Smith Court.&nbsp; Whitaker improved to 23-9 all-time as Griffon coach

The Missouri Western men used a big second half to pull away from Lincoln University and pull off an 89-73 win on Thursday night for the home at the Fieldhouse.  

The Griffons improved to 2-0 on the season shooting&nbsp; 48% from the field and had four players in double figures, led by sophomore Will Eames, who dropped in 25 points and 11 rebounds.  Fellow sophomore JaRon Thames added 16 points off the bench, with Tyrell Carroll and Q Mays adding 14 and 12 respectively. 

With the win the Griffon men are 2-0 for the first time since the 2014-15 season and 2-0 in MIAA play for the first time since 2009.

Next up for Missouri Western the homestand will continue on Saturday when Central Missouri travels to St. Joseph.&nbsp; The afternoon will get started at 1:30 pm when the Lady Griffons tip off against the defending MIAA champion Jennies, with the men tipping off after that.

Missouri Western State University has doubleheader sweep in home opener

The football coach at the center of the death of a 19-year-old player
 at Garden City Community College in 2018 was fired Wednesday 
from his new job at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.

"Jeff Sims, head football coach, has been relieved of his duties," Director of Athletics Jared Bruggeman said in a statement.

Sims
 was 2-9 with the Lions in 2019, and games this year were postponed due 
to the pandemic. He still had two years left on his contract. But the 
university refuses to say whether Sims was fired for cause or without 
cause. If MSSU decided to just release Sims, the school would owe him 
$90,000, according to the contract he signed in November 2018. But, if 
he was fired for cause, the university would not owe him.

When 
KCUR asked if Sims would be paid, MSSU Director of News Services &amp; 
Messaging, Mike Olmstead, responded with a statement that read, in part,
 "The details of him being relieved of his duties cannot be discussed as
 they represent an ongoing personnel situation." 

Olmstead did not elaborate on why Sims' firing is an "ongoing personnel situation."

Braeden Bradforth, the teenager from Neptune, New Jersey, died of exertional heatstroke <a href="https://www.kcur.org/news/2019-02-17/monday-in-jersey-tuesday-in-garden-city-wednesday-dead-after-a-football-practice-in-kansas" target="_blank">after a grueling Sims-led workout on a hot August day in Garden City. </a>An investigation paid for by GCCC a year after Bradforth's death blamed <a href="https://www.kcur.org/news/2019-11-14/investigation-into-kansas-football-players-death-blames-the-coach-athletic-director" target="_blank"> "a striking lack of leadership" by top college officials, including Sims.</a>

Earlier
 this year the family settled with the college for $500,000, the maximum
 allowed under Kansas law because Sims and other GCCC officials were 
protected by qualified immunity.

"We may never know whether 
Braeden’s death played a role in Missouri Southern‘s decision to end 
their relationship with Sims," said family lawyer Jill Greene. "But one 
can only hope that it was a factor."

Sims seemed confused by his firing.  was 2-9 with the Lions in 2019, and games this year were postponed due 
to the pandemic. He still had two years left on his contract. But the 
university refuses to say whether Sims was fired for cause or without 
cause. If MSSU decided to just release Sims, the school would owe him 
$90,000, according to the contract he signed in November 2018. But, if 
he was fired for cause, the university would not owe him.When 
KCUR asked if Sims would be paid, MSSU Director of News Services &amp; 
Messaging, Mike Olmstead, responded with a statement that read, in part,

Coach at center of the death of Kan. football player fired from Missouri Southern 

Mizzou Men's Basketball upended No. 21 Oregon, 83-75, on Wednesday night in Omaha, improving to 2-0 on the season. The Tigers earned their first win away from home over a ranked opponent since a Braggin' Rights win over Illinois on Dec. 22, 2012.

Junior Xavier Pinson scored 19 of his team-high 22 points in the second half to lead five Tigers in double figures. Mizzou shot 46.2 percent from the field and committed just seven turnovers on an efficient night offensively.

Senior Mark Smith scored 15 points on four 3-pointers while Javon Pickett chipped in 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting and Dru Smith added 11 points, four assists and three steals.

Junior Jeremiah Tilmon controlled the paint, playing 30 minutes and finishing with 11 points and nine rebounds. Mizzou scored 34 points in the paint and 24 fastbreak points.

Mizzou travels to Wichita State on Sunday for a clash with the Shockers. Tip is set for 1 p.m. CT on ESPN2.

Despite falling behind by double-digits in the first half, No. 7 Kansas was able to battle back to defeat No. 20 Kentucky, 65-62, at the State Farm Champions Classic inside Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana on Tuesday.

The Jayhawks were led by a career-high 23 points by redshirt freshman Jalen Wilson, who scored on 8-of-16 from the field, coupled with a career-high 10 rebounds. The performance was Wilson’s first-career double-double and his third-straight game scoring in double-figures.

Along with Wilson, junior Ochai Agbaji scored in double-figures for the third-straight game with 17 points on 5-of-17 from the field and 3-of-9 from beyond the arc.

In his 50th career start, Agbaji came out of the gates with the first five points for KU, before Kentucky opened up a 15-0 run to take the lead, 17-5, at the 10:59 mark of the first half. During Kentucky’s run, the Jayhawks converted just 4-of-18 from the field while turning the ball over eight times.

Despite the slow start, Kansas was able to trim Kentucky’s lead to just six points before the half, as Kentucky led KU, 36-29 at the break. Kansas shot 31% (11-of-35) from the field while out-rebounding the Wildcats, 22-21, in the first half.

In the second half, Kansas battled back behind a 10-0 run, which was the first Jayhawk lead since the 16:15 mark of the first half, when KU led 5-4. The run was fueled by six points by Wilson, while Kentucky fell into foul trouble.

Wilson’s career-day continued into the second half, where he reached his first-career 20-point game and helped put away the Wildcats in the final minutes.

Kansas will host its first home contest of the 2020-21 season, when they host Washburn on Thursday, December 3 inside Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas. It is the first of a five game homestand for the Jayhawks, before beginning Big 12 play at Texas Tech on December 17.

Sporting Kansas City’s home match against Minnesota United FC in the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs has been rescheduled for Thursday and will be televised nationally on FOX, Major League Soccer announced today.

The Western Conference Semifinal at Children’s Mercy Park, originally slated for Wednesday, will now kick off at 7:31 p.m. CT on Thursday. This shift in scheduling was not a result of COVID-19.

Additionally, MLS has announced that the Western Conference Final will now take place next Monday, Dec. 7, at a time to be determined with national coverage on FS1, FOX Deportes and the FOX Sports app. The match was previously slated for Sunday, Dec. 6. The 25th MLS Cup remains set for Saturday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. CT on FOX and UniMas/TUDN.

Thursday’s showdown will mark the first time Sporting and Minnesota have met in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. The Midwestern rivals have squared off 13 times across all competitions since Minnesota joined MLS in 2017, with Sporting owning a 7-4-2 record overall and a perfect 6-0-0 mark at home. The Loons have been outscored 15-1 in their six previous visits to Children’s Mercy Park.

Sporting Kansas City's playoff match against Minnesota United FC moved to Thursday

The Royals and left-hander Mike Minor are in agreement on a two-year deal, pending a physical, sources told MLB.com on Sunday night. The club has not confirmed the deal.

Minor, 32, pitched for the Royals in 2017 after signing a two-year deal with Kansas City in 2016. He spent most of that season rehabbing from shoulder surgery, but he pitched in 10 games between Triple-A Omaha and Double-A Northwest Arkansas and posted a 5.74 ERA.

Minor was a successful reliever for the Royals in 2017, appearing in 65 games while recording a 2.55 ERA. Minor even served in the closer role down the stretch that season, going 6-for-6 in save opportunities.

But the left-hander viewed himself as a starter and signed a three-year deal with Texas prior to the 2018 season. In 32 starts in 2019, Minor went 14-10 with a 3.59 ERA. He was traded this August to Oakland, where he made five appearances (four starts) with a 5.48 ERA.

The Royals have been searching for starting pitching depth, but they also could view Minor as a potential closer in the event they cannot re-sign closer Greg Holland.

The Royals also on Monday announced the signing of outfielder Michael A. Taylor, adding to an already crowded outfield for next season that was projected to feature a combination of Whit Merrifield, Bubba Starling, Edward Olivares and Franchy Cordero

A source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand that Taylor's contract is a one-year Major League deal worth $1.75 million, plus $1 million in incentives. The team hasn't confirmed the terms of the contract.

Taylor, who spent his first seven big league seasons with the Nationals and was a part of their World Series-winning team in 2019, elected to become a free agent in October after clearing outright waivers.

The 29-year-old played in 38 games for Washington in 2020, hitting .196 with five home runs and 16 RBIs. Taylor's best season came in '17, when he hit .271 with 19 home runs, 17 stolen bases, 53 RBIs and an .806 OPS in 118 games. He also homered in his only World Series plate appearance in '19.

Taylor is a career .237 hitter with 53 home runs, 184 RBIs, 77 stolen bases and a .686 OPS in 574 games, playing primarily center field.

In a corresponding move to make room for Taylor, the Royals designated left-hander Foster Griffin for assignment. The 25-year-old Griffin made his Major League debut for Kansas City on July 27 and pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings in his only appearance of the season.

Royals add two players in free agency to 2021 roster

&nbsp;Patrick Mahomes threw for 462 yards and three touchdowns to outplay Tom Brady and lead the Kansas City Chiefs to a 27-24 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 

Tyreek Hill's career game started with his first score of the game from 75 yards out, marking the ninth time in his young career that he had hauled in a touchdown of at least 75 yards.&nbsp; 

Hill would score his second touchdown from 44 yards out in the first quarter with 1:32 of time left.&nbsp; In total, Hill racked up seven catches for 203 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter alone. 

It marked the second-most prolific first quarter in terms of receiving yards by any player since 1991, trailing only Lee Evans' 205 first-quarter receiving yards in 2006.

The Chiefs defense continued to struggle to get pressure on Tom Brady, following a week against the Raiders where they were only able to get one hit on quarterback Derek Carr, the Chiefs did manage one sack of Brady, from a combination of Mike Danna and Alex Okafor.

The Chiefs also forced two turnovers from Brady, with interceptions coming from Bashaud Breeland and Tyrann Mathieu, both in the third quarter.

The Chiefs won their sixth straight game and clinched their seventh 10-win season in eight years under coach Andy Reid.&nbsp;&nbsp;The Chiefs return to Arrowhead Stadium next week to take on the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football.

Despite a pair of passing touchdowns from junior quarterback Miles Kendrick, Kansas fell to TCU 59-23 Saturday night at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.

The Jayhawks dropped to 0-8 on the season and 0-7 in Big 12 play.

The Jayhawks fell into a 24-0 hole in the first quarter that they were ultimately unable to crawl out of. Trailing by 24, Kansas got on the scoreboard late in the first quarter when Jalon Daniels found Kwamie Lassiter II for a 48-yard touchdown to make it 24-6. It marked the first touchdown pass of Daniels’ career and the second touchdown this season for Lassiter.

After TCU added two more scores to make it 38-6, the Jayhawks found the end zone for the second time in the game. This time, Miles Kendrick found freshman Luke Grimm for a 14-yard score to make it 38-12. In the third quarter, trailing 45-12, Kendrick and Grimm hooked up for their second score of the game when Grimm caught a 21-yard touchdown pass. Kendrick then located Takulve Williams in the end zone for a two-point conversion to make the score 45-20.

The two touchdown catches for Grimm are the first two of his career. Lassiter also had a career game with seven catches for 116 yards, giving Kansas its first 100-yard receiver of the season.

Kansas will return to action Saturday at Texas Tech.&nbsp;

Kansas falls to TCU 59-23

&nbsp;A 30-yard field goal as time expired gave Baylor a 32-31 win over K-State on Saturday evening. K-State dropped to 4-5 (4-4 Big 12) with the loss.&nbsp;

Charlie Brewer threw for 349 yards and accounted for four total touchdowns to rally the Bears to the win. Brewer's big night through the air helped offset a big night by the K-State rushing attack. The Cats rushed for a season-best 256 yards, as Deuce Vaughn led the way with 102 yards and a touchdown. Will Howard and Malik Knowles added rushing touchdowns on the night for K-State.  

The teams traded scores throughout the fourth quarter. The hosts got a touchdown reception by Trestan Ebner and a rushing score by Brewer to stay in it. K-State used a pair of quick-strike drives to maintain the lead. Howard found the end zone from 24 yards out following a 49-yard pass play to Briley Moore. Vaughn added a 38-yard rushing score for the Cats.  

Leading by two, K-State went three and out to give the ball back to Baylor with 2:32 remaining in the game. The Bears marched 57 yards in 10 plays to set John Mayers up for the game-winning field goal as time expired.

Baylor finished with 420 yards of offense on the evening. K-State managed 344 yards. Howard finished 9-of-18 through the air for 88 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Defensively, K-State finished with seven sacks. 

K-State returns home to host Texas next Saturday.

Kansas State falls to Baylor on late field goal 32-31

Mizzou Football defeated SEC East foe Vanderbilt, 41-0, Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium, improving to 4-3&nbsp; in head coach Eliah Drinkwitz's first season at the helm of the program. The Tigers used a stout defensive effort, limiting Vanderbilt to 196 total yards, and a dominant rushing attack from Larry Rountree III and Tyler Badie who helped Mizzou rush for 223 yards on the ground in the win.

The win marked Mizzou's first SEC shutout since the 2018 season-finale when Mizzou defeated Arkansas, 38-0. It was Mizzou's first shutout since a 50-0 win over SEMO, Sept. 14, 2019. The win was Mizzou's largest margin of victory in an SEC game since joining the league.

The Tigers have now won four of the last five games, with its only loss in that span coming at No. 10 Florida on Halloween night. Mizzou has allowed just 20 points over its last three wins.

Junior Nick Bolton once again anchored a dominant defensive performance, posting nine tackles with 2.0 tackles for loss and one sack with a pass breakup. Rountree also rushed for a career-high three touchdowns and 160 yards on 21 carries to lead the offense. Thanks to the rushing attack, Mizzou never punted in the game.

Mizzou got on the board early thanks to a momentum-grabbing fourth-down stop on Vanderbilt's first series of the game. Junior All-SEC LB Nick Bolton stopped RB Keyon Henry-Brooks for no gain on a fourth-and-one, giving Mizzou the ball on the Commodore 44. The Tigers then covered 44 yards on just six plays, capped by a Larry Rountree III seven-yard touchdown. It was Rountree's fourth-straight game with a touchdown.

Rountree added another second-quarter score, giving him his seventh career game with multiple scores, while extending Mizzou's lead to 14-0 with 7:51 remaining in the second quarter. On Mizzou's third touchdown drive, it was Rountree's backfield partner, RB Tyler Badie, who did most of the heavy lifting. He had two catches and four carries, accounting for 67 yards on the drive, and he punched in a one-yard TD score as Mizzou took a 21-0 lead into intermission.

Harrison Mevis connected on a pair of third-quarter field goals as Mizzou took a 27-0 lead into the fourth.Rountree added his third score from 25 yards out to extend the lead to 34-0 and put the game on ice.

Seeing the field as a reserve, freshman QB Brady Cook hit WR Damon Hazleton for a 25-yard touchdown strike to put the Tigers up 41-0.

Even though she is not a Tiger, Vanderbilt kicker Sarah Fuller made her college football debut by kicking off to begin the second half. She became the first female ever to play in an SEC or Power 5 football game.

The four-straight contests with a rushing touchdown is tied for the longest of Rountree's career (final game of 2018, plus opening three games in 2019).&nbsp; Rountree's impressive four-game streak is the longest by a Tiger since Marcus Murphy, as he accomplished the feat over Mizzou's first four games in 2013. Additionally, Kendial Lawrence was the last Tiger to also produce four consecutive rushing scores in SEC play (2012).

Mizzou will return home next Saturday for a Dec. 5 tilt with SEC West Division rival Arkansas at a time TBD.

Sarah Fuller is poised to become the first female to play in a Power 5 football game when Vanderbilt plays at Missouri in an SEC contest Saturday.

A Vanderbilt official confirmed that Fuller made the trip to Missouri and will be in uniform for the game. If she sees game action Saturday, Fuller will make Power 5 history.

Fuller, a goalkeeper on Vanderbilt's SEC championship soccer team, tried out and was added to the football roster this week.&nbsp; Vanderbilt had a grad transfer kicker opt out before the season, and this week several of its specialists had to go into quarantine due to COVID-19 testing.

Only two women have played football at the FBS level: Katie Hnida of New Mexico and April Goss of Kent State.

Ashley Martin became the first female to score at the Division I level when she kicked three extra points for FCS Jacksonville State against Cumberland on Aug. 30, 2001.

Two years later, Hnida became the first woman to score at the FBS level with two extra points against Texas State.

Fuller's helmet will have a special sticker across the back that reads, "Play Like a Girl."

History could be made Saturday in Columbia with first Power 5 woman football player

Mizzou Men's Basketball took down Oral Roberts, 91-64, on Wednesday night at Mizzou Arena, improving to 4-0 record in season-openers under head coach Cuonzo Martin.

Senior forward Jeremiah Tilmon led Mizzou's stout defense, grabbing a career-high 12 rebounds and two steals. Mizzou outrebounded Oral Roberts 41-29 and forced 15 turnovers.

Mizzou scorched the nets offensively, shooting 53.1 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range. Senior Mark Smith led four Tigers in double figures with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting. He drained four of the Tigers' 10 triples. Dru Smith added 16 points, six assists and five boards in an all-around effort. Xavier Pinson tossed in 17 points and Javon Pickett added 11. The two Smiths, Pinson and Pickett combined for 62 points. 

Up next for the Tiger men will be a matchup with Wichita State, who recently saw head coach Gregg Marshall resign amidst an abuse investigation, on the road.&nbsp; The matchup between the Tigers and Shockers is currently on the schedule for Sunday, with a tipoff time to still be determined

The Kansas City Chiefs avenged their only loss in the last 12 months with a 35-31 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.&nbsp; &nbsp;Mahomes passed for 348 yards and led two go-ahead scoring drives in the frantic fourth quarter for the defending Super Bowl champions, who split their season series with Las Vegas in dramatic fashion.&nbsp;

Taking over at the Kansas City 25-yard line with less than two minutes remaining, Mahomes led the Chiefs down the field in just one minute and 15 seconds as he hit tight end Travis Kelce for a 22-yard touchdown to re-take the lead.&nbsp; It completed a wild final quarter that served as a microcosm of a back-and-forth shootout between these two classic division rivals.

Kansas City moved to 30-3 in its last 33 matchups against divisional opponents with the victory as Head Coach Andy Reid tallied his 19th win in 22 career games immediately following the bye week.

Las Vegas was on the board first as tailback Josh Jacobs plunged ahead for a 2-yard score. It punctuated a strong opening drive for the Raiders that included four first downs and two big passing plays of more than 20 yards.

The Chiefs then answered with a long scoring drive of their own, as Mahomes found wide receiver Tyreek Hill for a 3-yard touchdown to complete a 14-play, 85-yard series. It marked Hill's fifth catch of the drive – which included a fourth-down grab that kept the possession alive – to help the Chiefs tie things up.

The shootout would continue through the rest of the game going back and forth as the Chiefs defense struggled to slow down the Las Vegas offense.&nbsp; The Raiders did lead at halftime by a score of 17-14.

The Raiders then kept the shootout going in the second half, with the Chiefs leading 21-17 at the end of the third quarter. but the Raiders would strike first in the fourth quarter pulling back in front when Carr found tight end Darren Waller for a 3-yard touchdown to tally yet another lead change.

The Chiefs would pull back in front two drives later with Le'Veon Bell's score, but the Raiders would take the lead again finding Jason Witten to put Las Vegas back on top.&nbsp; Patrick Mahomes would do the rest though with his game-winning drive.

Missouri football improved to 3-3 in their slate of SEC games as they defeated South Carolina 17-10 on Saturday night to claim the Mayor's Cup Trophy for the second consecutive season. Despite being down to a limited roster numbers due to COVID issues and injuries, Mizzou opened a 17-0 lead by the intermission and never looked back to even its record and earn first-year head coach Eliah Drinkwitz his third win at Mizzou.

The win came despite a 20-day layoff between games as well, the longest such break between regular season games for Mizzou since 2001 when the 9/11 attacks paused the college football season. 

Senior RB Larry Rountree III became the school's all-time leading rusher at the RB position, passing Zack Abron to move into second place with his 3,283 career rushing yards. Only legendary QB Brad Smith ranks ahead of Rountree with 4,289 in his career.

Mizzou's defense was the story Saturday, limiting SC to just 283 yards on 11 drives, as junior All-SEC LB Nick Bolton led the way with a team-high 14 tackles, two of which went for a loss, in another performance that showcased his All-America caliber skillset.

Mizzou will return home Saturday November 28th for a matchup with SEC West Division rival Arkansas at 11 a.m. on SEC Network
