It was a picture perfect day weather wise on Thursday, and quite a busy day on the spring sports schedule as well.

Baseball
The Chillicothe tournament got underway. The Benton Cardinals scored 16-8 victories over both Macon and Chillicothe. The Cardinals will play for the title on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Lafayette plays Cameron, while Maryville plays Kirksville in that tournament on Friday afternoon.

Mid-Buchanan (11-3) plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat Lathrop 9-8.

Boys’ golf
Chillicothe won the Savannah invitational by a whopping 34 strokes. Meanwhile, Mid-Buchanan finished second in the KCI Conference meet. Noah Hughes took first with a 77. Lane Ellison and John Kelly earned all-conference honors.

St. Pius X 3 Bishop LeBlond 0. That snaps a five-match winning streak for the Eagles.

Boys’ Tennis
The MEC tournament starts today at 8 a.m. at the Noyes Tennis Courts. Meanwhile, Savannah swept Benton 9-0 Thursday to clinch the regular season MEC championship outright.
