Mary C. Jones, 84, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on February 9, 2024, at a local residential care facility. Born on February 27, 1939, in St. Joseph, Mary was the beloved daughter of Raymond and Anna Marie Gales.

Mary was a loving mother to her son Thomas Gales and a doting grandmother to Ogden Gales and Mimi Palmer. She is survived by her sister Marquita Gales, niece Candance Gales, nephew Gene Cluke, extended family Kevin Banks, and a host of other relatives.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Anna Marie Gales, a sister Susie Cluke, nephews Jerry Cluke and Cord Gales.

A woman of faith, Mary's kindness and warmth touched the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy of love and compassion will be deeply missed.

Pamela Kay Foster (Beers), born May 16th, 1956, passed away February 18th, after a brief illness. She was the daughter of Marvin and Helen Beers. Pam lived in St. Joseph, MO her entire life. She graduated from Central High School in 1974. She graduated from St. Joseph Beauty University and worked as a hairdresser for a few years. She attended MWSU for 2 years. She held several jobs during her lifetime, &nbsp;including working at Parisoffs Grocery Store, St. Joseph School District as a Para Professional and substitute teacher, and retiring from the State of Missouri in 2021 as a supervisor at the Division of Family Services. She made many life long friends during her career.

Pam married George Foster on August 3rd, 2005, her parents 50th wedding anniversary. &nbsp;They enjoyed antiquing together and going to Jamesport, MO to visit the shops.

Pam has two sons, Gary Steeby and Eric Steeby. In 2018 she was blessed with a granddaughter, Jordyn, whom she adored more than anything.

Pam is survived by her husband, George; sons, Gary Steeby and Eric Steeby; &nbsp;granddaughter, Jordyn; mother, Helen Beers; sisters, Cindy Sechter (Emil) and Jennifer Nichols (Bruce); brother, Mark Beers (Lore); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Beers.

Pam had a way of making everyone feel special. She was a hugger extraordinaire. She loved and was loved by her family and friends. She touched so many lives and will be missed by all of us.

He was born March 18, 1941 to the late Martha and James Potter on their farm.

He loved sports and was involved in football, basketball and track during his high school years. He loved to hunt, fish, play cards and other games.

His dad gave him a love for farming growing up, and he continued to farm after he married for several years.

He was active in his church, serving as a deacon at Mount Moriah Baptist Church for many years as well as serving on the Gentry County Soil Water and Soil Conservation Department Board.

Being a kid at heart, and having a great sense of humor, he liked to joke around, teasing others, especially his kids and grandkids on numerous occasions.

All of his family meant the world to him and he invested his whole life being there for them in so many ways. But the most important thing to Edsel was his relationship with Jesus Christ. He loved to take time to be still and marvel at many of God’s beautiful sunrises and sunsets, along with so much other beauty around him on the farm.

Edsel is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Elvin, Clinton and James Potter.

Survivors are his school sweetheart/wife, Brenda Potter; children, Tim Potter, Jan Dice and Suzanne Klindt; grandchildren, Mylon Dice, Arial Dice, Margaret Dice, Melissa Trickle, Lane Potter, Chad Potter, Bryton Potter, and Faith Klindt; and great-grandchildren, Shant and Lyla Dice; and sister-in-law, Louise Potter.

King City, MO: Beverly Ann Gregory Carlson was the eldest daughter born to Kenneth and Madelyn (Gaines) Gregory on March 12, 1936, and entered her heavenly home on February 17, 2024. Bev spent her youth and life as a “farm girl” and grew up living with her parents on farms in Dekalb and Gentry counties, attending country schools, and graduating in 1954 from King City High School.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; On June 5, 1954, she married Paul K. Carlson at Star Chapel in rural Gentry County. They made their home just across the county line in Dekalb county living in a three-room farmhouse “with a path” until 1962 when they moved less than a mile to the Carlson Farmstead. During the hey-day of CB radios the farm became known as “The Ponderosa” and Beverly’s title was “The Ponderosa Queen”.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Farming was Paul and Beverly’s life; Bev spent more than her share of time in the grain truck line; the Ponderosa Queen hauled most of the grain produced at the Carlson farm to the elevators in Union Star and St. Joseph during a time when it was uncommon for farm women to do so. Bev also helped take care of the livestock, she tended the cattle and hogs and didn’t shed a tear when the last hog was loaded and sent off the farm to market.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The Carlson matriarch was also a club and project leader in the Fighting 4-H Club in the Orchid community and was involved with the local horse arena and area horse shows. Hauling kids and horses was a major part of the summer when the kids were growing up.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Paul and Beverly enjoyed wintering in south Texas for a few years and in 1994 moved to town when Paul’s health began to fail. They enjoyed card parties and getting together with their lifelong friends living in King City. Beverly was Paul’s love and caregiver, transporting him every other day in his final years to dialysis in St. Joseph until his passing in 2005.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Beverly was a member of the Hammer Memorial Methodist Church and served the Lord as pianist and organist for a number of years. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and loved to sing not only with a choir but also as a soloist and provided music for countless memorial services for friends and family in the King City area. Beverly enjoyed planning class reunions for the class of ’54 and lunching with her “Nifty-Fifties” classmates as long as her health permitted. Beverly was also known as a “Sunday Driver” for a lot of years she chauffeured the church ladies after services to area restaurants where they enjoyed dining together for Sunday dinner.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She was born February 12, 1942 in Gentry, Missouri the daughter of Avery and Frona (Messner) Johnson.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Vonda attended Jennings School through the 8th grade and graduated from Stanberry High School in 1960.&nbsp; She then went on to attend Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO and Metro Tech in Elkhorn, Nebraska.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She became an accounting bookkeeper. Vonda volunteered for Nebraska Committee Democratic and was also a Boy Scout Leader.&nbsp; She loved her flowers and bird watching.&nbsp; Going shopping was one of her favorite things to do.&nbsp; She was a very loving mother to her children.&nbsp;

Vonda Maxine Gard 1942 – 2024 

Maysville, Missouri….Paul Edward DeHart, age 85, passed away Friday, February 16, 2024, at his home in Maysville, surrounded by his loving family. &nbsp;He was born October 30, 1938, in Weatherby, Missouri, to John Raymond and Frances Lenora (Grace) DeHart. &nbsp;He graduated from Maysville High School in 1956.

Paul joined the Air Force after graduation and was stationed in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He was an airplane mechanic and was known as the “4th man” whenever he flew.&nbsp;

He worked in the trucking industry for 28 years as a trailer shop manager. After his retirement he was the maintenance supervisor for two retirement homes.

Paul was a classics car enthusiast. He was the proud second owner of a rusted out ’57 Chevy that was found in a pasture. He took it home and completely restored it top to bottom.&nbsp; He loved taking his 57 Chevy, and his 82 El Camino (which he also rebuilt) to car shows, and sharing with other car enthusiasts.&nbsp;

He married Joan “Joanie” Clouser on June 13, 2014, at his home in Maysville. He and Joanie enjoyed going to car shows, visiting the kids, and as of the last several years going to Texas for the winter, as he loved the warmth and sunshine. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Paul was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Dalton Lee Smith; and brother, Joseph DeHart.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Joan of the home; daughters, Maureen L. Smith and Paula “Chris” Purviance (Andy); 4 stepchildren; sister-in-law, Jeannie DeHart; grandchildren, Amber (Charles), Mitchell (Sara), Andrea (Christopher), Nathan (Nicole), Aaron (Jacqueline), Bryce, Connor (Kaitlyn); great-grandchildren, Parker, Evan, Neely, Natalie, Silas, Beckett, and another arriving in March; and many other relatives and friends.

She married Clifford Jay Hales on November 10, 1977 in The Salt Lake City Temple.

Cathrin dedicated a generous portion of her life to caring for others as a compassionate nurse for 15 years, but her main focus was using her nurturing spirit raising her five children and, in time, doting over her 23 grandchildren, whose lives she touched with wisdom, laughter, and countless memories. Cathrin was the beloved cornerstone of a large and loving family, survived by her husband, Clifford; children, Cliff Hales (Brittney), John Hales (Jessica), Anne Matthys (Josh), Dave Hales (Erin), and Laura Palomeque (Nefi); siblings, Lloyd Parks, Glenn Parks, Ramona Larsen, Sharon Spaeth, Paul Parks, and Rowena Parks. Bev Leonard 1944 - 2024

On February 14th, 2024, we were suddenly and unexpectedly parted from the most wonderful man, father, and Papa, as George William “Bill” Davis, age 66, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus.

Bill was born on June 18th, 1957, in Corinth, Mississippi to George William Sr. and Gloria Sue (Wimberly) Davis. After moving to Buffalo, NY, the Davis family settled permanently in St. Joseph, MO.

After graduating from Lafayette High School in 1975, Bill’s football talent earned him a full ride as a tight end for Montana State University (MSUB). However, after a year of being a thousand miles from home, homesickness led the 18-year-old to contemplate whether to give up the ole gridiron for good. That is until Kim, a 17-year-old girl waving her pom-poms on the sideline, caught his eye. Thus began the familiar tale, the footballer who falls for the cheerleader, where Montana was transformed from a distant land into a home away from home.

Kim quickly became his world, and amidst late-night football games and snow-covered slopes, their love grew into a lifelong commitment, sealed in the summer of 1980. Bill and Kim journeyed back to St. Joseph, MO to embark on a new life together as Bill began his career with Quaker Oats. They shared 49 wonderful years together.

Outside of work, you’d often find Bill either building his house or out on the ball field, whether coaching or cheering on one of his sons’ sports teams. Thursday nights were for painting the football field in preparation for Friday’s big game or firing up the grill to feed a team of hungry teen boys. As a devoted papa, he never missed a ball game, music concert, or morning to make breakfast and drive the kids to school. He was the ultimate host of pool parties, a constant source of dad jokes, and had a knack for planning beach vacations like no other. Despite his loveable nature, those closest to him were well aware of his mischievous streak, and he therefore was never entrusted with keeping score during mini-golf (his 4’s would mysteriously transform into 1’s) and his hand was always watched closely during family game nights.

To encompass all that Bill was is an unattainable feat, as he was so many things to so many people. A loving and devoted husband, father, Papa, uncle, brother, friend, coach, the list goes on and on. His life was one of selfless service to others. His family was his everything and he will be greatly missed.

Jamie Andrew Miller, 49, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on February 14, 2024 after fighting a long hard battle. Born on January 29, 1975 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Steve and Pat (Murphy) Miller.

He married Jennifer Colleen Driskel on June 18, 2005.

In his professional life, Jamie was the Director of Decision Support at BioZyme Inc., where he was instrumental in leading the company to new heights year after year. He was an integral part of the BioZyme family. His colleagues will remember him not only for his business acumen but also for his infectious enthusiasm and mentorship.

Jamie's larger-than-life personality extended beyond his work. He had an insatiable appetite for adventures, exploring new destinations, and creating memorable moments. His love for karaoke and dart nights was well known amongst his friends and family. However, nothing compared to the joy he found in spending time with his loved ones.

Terrance Alfred Brox, Jr., who was well known as Terry, died unexpectedly on February 15, 2024, in Manhattan, KS.&nbsp;

Mass of Christian burial to celebrate Terry’s life will be on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Benedict Church with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB, as celebrant. A rosary will be Wednesday, Feb. 21st at 5:30 p.m. with visitation to follow from 6-7:30 at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.&nbsp;

He was born in Atchison, KS on January 4th, 1962, to Terry and JoAnn (Whaley) Brox. As he grew up, he worked with his dad and grandpa at the family business, Brox for Rocks. He attended Maur Hill Prep where he played football which led to a state victory his senior year. He graduated from Maur Hill in 1980 and attended Vo-Tech where he learned auto body repair. He moved to Great Bend, KS, in 1981 and worked at Bud Stein's Body Shop then Reiter Chevrolet.

He met Ruby Scott in 1986 and the two married on July 29th, 1988. In 1988, he opened Terry's Total Auto Body in Hoisington, KS. He later owned Auto Connections in Hoisington. They had five beautiful children during their 20 years of marriage. He was a hard worker all of his life, most of which was working to provide for his family. He did paintless dent repair for many years which took him to several states over those years. Ruby and their oldest three would travel to wherever he was every summer and make the greatest memories. Sometimes the travel was for R/C airplane contests, which were a passion of his. Terry and Ruby had two more children later in their marriage who were welcomed and loved unconditionally. Terry was a family man through and through, he moved his family back to Atchison after the divorce in December 2008. He took over the family business and it became Brox Contractors LLC. He was an intellectual man with a love for all things space and a deep respect for history. He was a huge fan of Star Trek, something he shared with his mom. He had a deep reverence for our military and was quite proud of his youngest daughter's service in the Air Force. He bragged about all of his kids to anyone and everyone willing to listen, whether it was about his two daughters that are nurses, his daughter with all the natural talent, his daughter in the Air Force who has the voice of an angel, or his son who was so adept at anything he put his mind to. He loved being a dad and he loved being a grandpa even more. He always told his kids never let good enough be good enough and wished for nothing but success and happiness for all of his kids and grandkids.

He began dating Barbara "Barbie" Thoren from Great Bend within the last year. Never could anyone imagine his life would end so unexpectedly at 62 but there was no doubt, he found love at the end. He always had a smile for everyone he met, whether it was stopping in at Casey's in the morning or going to the donut shop; he never met a stranger and he never turned anyone down for help. Terrance Alfred Brox, Jr., who was well known as Terry, died unexpectedly on February 15, 2024, in Manhattan, KS.&nbsp;Mass of Christian burial to celebrate Terry’s life will be on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Benedict Church with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB, as celebrant. A rosary will be Wednesday, Feb. 21st at 5:30 p.m. with visitation to follow from 6-7:30 at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.&nbsp;He was born in Atchison, KS on January 4th, 1962, to Terry and JoAnn (Whaley) Brox. As he grew up, he worked with his dad and grandpa at the family business, Brox for Rocks. He attended Maur Hill Prep where he played football which led to a state victory his senior year. He graduated from Maur Hill in 1980 and attended Vo-Tech where he learned auto body repair. He moved to Great Bend, KS, in 1981 and worked at Bud Stein's Body Shop then Reiter Chevrolet.He met Ruby Scott in 1986 and the two married on July 29th, 1988. In 1988, he opened Terry's Total Auto Body in Hoisington, KS. He later owned Auto Connections in Hoisington. They had five beautiful children during their 20 years of marriage. He was a hard worker all of his life, most of which was working to provide for his family. He did paintless dent repair for many years which took him to several states over those years. Ruby and their oldest three would travel to wherever he was every summer and make the greatest memories. Sometimes the travel was for R/C airplane contests, which were a passion of his. Terry and Ruby had two more children later in their marriage who were welcomed and loved unconditionally. Terry was a family man through and through, he moved his family back to Atchison after the divorce in December 2008. He took over the family business and it became Brox Contractors LLC. He was an intellectual man with a love for all things space and a deep respect for history. He was a huge fan of Star Trek, something he shared with his mom. He had a deep reverence for our military and was quite proud of his youngest daughter's service in the Air Force. He bragged about all of his kids to anyone and everyone willing to listen, whether it was about his two daughters that are nurses, his daughter with all the natural talent, his daughter in the Air Force who has the voice of an angel, or his son who was so adept at anything he put his mind to. He loved being a dad and he loved being a grandpa even more. He always told his kids never let good enough be good enough and wished for nothing but success and happiness for all of his kids and grandkids.He began dating Barbara "Barbie" Thoren from Great Bend within the last year. Never could anyone imagine his life would end so unexpectedly at 62 but there was no doubt, he found love at the end. He always had a smile for everyone he met, whether it was stopping in at Casey's in the morning or going to the donut shop; he never met a stranger and he never turned anyone down for help. Wagner on Jan. 31, 1946, in Atchison, KS. Mr. Wagner preceded her in death on May 9, 2012. Survivors include two daughters Mari Jo Brown, KC, Mo, and Amelia Ann (Jerry) Kaczmarek, Atchison, KS, six grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Barbara Ann (Archdekin) Pasley, 90, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Mosaic Life Care, in St. Joseph, MO. She was born on Aug. 14, 1933, in St. Joseph, MO, to James "Ray" and Rose (Nold) Archdekin. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Andrew County and graduated from Central High School. She then attended and graduated from Guards Business School and started her career in business working at Ford Motor Company.

Barbara married Lloyd Pasley on June 8, 1952, in St. Joseph, MO, and moved to Laguna Beach, CA, for a few years before returning to St. Joseph, MO. She spent most of her career in banking as a vice president and investment advisor for U.S. Bank. She loved traveling, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the U.S. Bank Alumni program.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Rose Archdekin; and siblings, Ray Archdekin, James "Jim" Archdekin and Carol Yoder.&nbsp;

Donald L. Katlin passed away peacefully at his home on February 12, 2024. He was 94 years old. Donald was born and lived his early life on the West side of Kansas City, Missouri. He lived his later life in rural Platte County, near Farley. He married Barbara J. Hazeslip on January 9 1951, in DeWitt, AR. They were married for 56 years, until she passed in 2007. Donald worked at the Kansas City Stock Yards as a young man. Then he eventually followed in his father’s footsteps and began working at the Gas Service Company. He began as a ditch digger and had many positions during his 39 years with the Gas Company, and he retired happily as the Mechanic Shop Foreman. Donald enjoyed collecting all kinds of things he found value in. What many may have considered junk, he thought of as treasurers. He enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing, and especially spending time with his family at the lake. He was also a loyal patron of our local casinos. He is survived by his four children; 2 sons, Donnie and Keith, and 2 daughters, Carol and Kathy, along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren in both Missouri and Maine.

Donald L. Katlin 1929 - 2024

Robert Eugene Eckert, 89, of Kansas City, Missouri died at St Luke’s North hospital on February 10, 2024.Bob was born October 26, 1934 to Jesse William and Willa Mae Bane Eckert in Chula, Missouri. He spent his early youth in Chula before he moved with his family to Chillicothe, Missouri. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1952. After high school he moved to Kansas City, Kansas where in 1954 he was employed as an aircraft mechanic at the TWA Overhaul Base which was then located at Fairfax airport. While living in Kansas City, Kansas he met Marjorie Crystal Tucker who had moved there from her home town of Tunas, Missouri. They married on March 6, 1955. After the TWA Overhaul Base moved to the new MCI Airport in Platte County, they moved in 1959 to Platte City, Missouri where they raised their children Jeffrey Robert Eckert and Janet Crystal Eckert. Bob continued working at TWA where he had risen to management until his retirement in 1992. In retirement he was active in the Platte County Historical Society and the Platte City Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Elizabeth Stone, Karen Holloway and Shirley England. His wife Marjorie died September 25, 2008. His daughter Janet died January 12, 2018. He is survived by his son Jeffrey (Dana) of Ellicott City, Maryland; granddaughter Krystle Crockett (Aaron) Green of Kansas City, Missouri and two great-grandsons Sam and Jack Green also of Kansas City, Missouri. Robert Eugene Eckert, 89, of Kansas City, Missouri died at St Luke’s North hospital on February 10, 2024.Bob was born October 26, 1934 to Jesse William and Willa Mae Bane Eckert in Chula, Missouri. He spent his early youth in Chula before he moved with his family to Chillicothe, Missouri. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1952. After high school he moved to Kansas City, Kansas where in 1954 he was employed as an aircraft mechanic at the TWA Overhaul Base which was then located at Fairfax airport. While living in Kansas City, Kansas he met Marjorie Crystal Tucker who had moved there from her home town of Tunas, Missouri. They married on March 6, 1955. After the TWA Overhaul Base moved to the new MCI Airport in Platte County, they moved in 1959 to Platte City, Missouri where they raised their children Jeffrey Robert Eckert and Janet Crystal Eckert. Bob continued working at TWA where he had risen to management until his retirement in 1992. In retirement he was active in the Platte County Historical Society and the Platte City Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Elizabeth Stone, Karen Holloway and Shirley England. His wife Marjorie died September 25, 2008. His daughter Janet died January 12, 2018. He is survived by his son Jeffrey (Dana) of Ellicott City, Maryland; granddaughter Krystle Crockett (Aaron) Green of Kansas City, Missouri and two great-grandsons Sam and Jack Green also of Kansas City, Missouri. He is also survived by sister Sharon (Mark) Sutich of Wakefield, Massachusetts. Karla Louise (Strube) Williams, of rural Powhattan, with family by her side, passed away February 13, 2024 at her home.

Karla was born at Horton, August 21, 1946, the only child born to Karl George and Lenna Landon Strube. &nbsp;Karla grew up on farm near Powhattan where she attended Powhattan Schools, later graduating from high school with the class of 1964. &nbsp;She went on to study to be a secretary at Highland Community College. &nbsp;Plans changed as she was ‘chased down’ while at Highland and married Dale Williams August 27, 1966. &nbsp;She was a stay at home Mom while the children Scott, Sarah and Eric, were home being involved with all their school activities, all the while, while being a devoted farm wife to Dale, furnishing meals to men that were helping…. whatever needed to be done, Karla would gladly do!

As the kids grew and had families, she worked at Hixson CPA, and Silver Lake Bank where she developed friendships that would last a lifetime…..enjoyed working to be with friends! &nbsp;Karla worked several years then decided to become active volunteering. &nbsp;She was a longtime member of the Powhattan United Methodist Church where she served as secretary, Sunday school teacher, and President of the UMW Board; the Hiawatha Community Hospital Gray Lady, Relay for Life, and Hiawatha Hospital Auxiliary serving as Vice President, again making friends that meant so much to her. &nbsp;All the while, busy taking in her families activities. &nbsp;She also so enjoyed volunteering at Window Box Cottage, again seeing old friends, making new ones.

Survivors include her husband Dale, children Scott and Theresa Williams, Mitch and Sarah Gerving, Eric and Dana Williams; grandchildren: &nbsp;Brady (Andrea) Burks, Brennen (Hannah) Burks, Breanne (Hayden) Cross, Mitchell Williams (Alli Reed), Emma (Kyle) Tollefson, Andrew Williams, Ryleigh Williams; great-grandchildren: &nbsp;Rhett, Wren, Isla Burks, Kolbe and Margaret Cross.

Wilburn “Rodney” Brubeck passed away peacefully at home on February 13, 2024.&nbsp;

Rodney was born on June 27, 1939, to Orville K. and Alberta J. (Sharp) Brubeck in Tracy, MO.

He married Kathy (Nelsen) Brubeck on February 20, 1971.

Rodney is survived by his wife Kathy and children Bobby (Carol), Errol (Sheila), Randy (Billi), Annie, and Tad; daughter in law Regina; numerous grand and great-grandchildren; brother Danny; sister Liz Tate; sister-in-law Connie; many nieces and nephews and our “adopted” son Dennis Freed and many friends.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; son Vernon; sisters Genevieve, Ann, and Martha; and brothers John and James.&nbsp;

As per Rodney’s wishes there will be no services with a private family gathering for inurnment at a later date.

Oscar Taylor Wilson, Jr, age 88, of Atchison, KS, died peacefully on February 10, 2024.&nbsp;

Oscar was born on July 23, 1935, in Atchison, KS, the son of Oscar T. Wilson, Sr. and Jessie B. (Hanna) Wilson. He attended Lincoln School and graduated from Atchison High School and Atchison Vo-Tech.&nbsp;

He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 17 Sep 1953 until his honorable discharge on 27 Sep 1956.&nbsp;

He worked at L.F.M. and Kerford Quarry in Atchison, before joining Midwest Grain Products as a utility operator and grain handler for twenty-seven years until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the American Legion.&nbsp;

Oscar was first married to Pinkie May (Ware) and later to Donna (McQuiston) Wilson; both preceded him in passing. He was also preceded in passing by his parents and brothers, Clarence Wilson and Duane Wilson.&nbsp;

Survivors include his siblings, Steven (Martha) Wilson, Clark (Toni) Wilson and Jane (Charles) Corlew; and his numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.&nbsp;

Cremation care entrusted to the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Homegoing services will be held on February 23, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with interment to follow at the Leavenworth National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. with military honors.&nbsp;

William "Leon" Reese, 80, of Platte City, Missouri, formerly of DeKalb, MO, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024 in Platte City. He was born January 27, 1944 in DeKalb, MO, son of Beatrice and Miles Reese. He graduated from DeKalb High School, class of 1962. Leon retired from Rockwell International as a Supervisor. He was a member of the former Rushville Masonic Lodge # 238, served with Region H Haz-Mat, and had served as former Mayor of DeKalb. He was instrumental of the start of DeKalb Rural Volunteer Fire Department, and later helped establish the now DeKalb Fire Protection District. He served the department for over 30 years, holding the rank of Captain and Driver Engineer, and also served as Board President for over two decades. &nbsp;He enjoyed officiating and coaching youth baseball, when his children were younger. Leon was an avid Royals, Chiefs, and Mizzou fan. He never knew a stranger, was a great friend to all, and was committed to his time in public service and helping others. He was preceded in death by his parents, son's Tony and Cory Reese, and siblings, Kenny Reese and Bonnie Youngberg. Marcie Jo Palmer, 59, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. She was born May 9, 1964 in St. Joseph, daughter of Mary and Merrill Palmer. She attended Lafayette High School. Marcie worked many years as an in-home caregiver. She loved going to the casino and playing bingo. Her greatest joy was spending time with her kids and grandkids. Marcie was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Lisa Jagodzinski-Palmer and granddaughter, Destiny. Dara was preceded in death by husband, Robert "Rader Bob" Griffin, son, Shawn Griffin, her parents, and a brother, Darrell Roberts.
