Roy E. “Butch” Foster, 59, Savannah, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 6, 2025.

He was born October 20, 1965 in St. Joseph and grew up there.

A devoted father and grandfather, Butch loved life and lived it to the fullest that he could. He loved fishing, spending time with his close-knit family, and eating Mexican food. He also loved music and was known to have a speaker with him often.

Sports were a big part of Butch’s life. In his early years, he loved pitching for his youth baseball team and later he coached his daughter’s basketball and softball teams. He was a huge fan of the Royals, Chiefs and Mizzou.

A sociable, talkative man with a great sense of humor who never knew a stranger, Butch set an example for his family of generosity and making sure no one went without. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Foster; siblings, Tamara Mobley and Christopher Foster; and his best friends, Ed Cary, George Holmes, and Bill Stokes.

Survivors include fiancée, Susan Crist; daughter, Cheyenne Nightingale (Bart); grandchildren, Sage Martin (Trey), Camden Nightingale, Kai Nightingale, and Raiden Crist; great-granddaughter on the way, Poppy; siblings, Raymond Foster (Brittany Fish) and Marty Foster (Evelyn); aunts and uncles, Kathy and Don Tanner, and Larry and Kathy Reno; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Muchacho.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 17, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Inurnment Whispering Pines Cremation Garden at St. Joseph Memorial Park. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service. The family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Joseph Animal Shelter.
