Anna Marie (Salmen) Doss, St. Joseph, formerly of Savannah, Mo., died Saturday, April 23, at a St. Joseph health-care center.

She was born August 18, 1923, in Grafton, Neb., to George and Hulda (Zimbleman) Salmen, the youngest of six children.

The family moved to Fullerton, ND, the same year, where she grew up. After graduating high school, Anna graduated from secretarial school in Fargo, ND.

She married Mike Doss on January 21, 1946, in Oakes, ND. She worked as a school secretary for over 20 years at Amazonia, John Glenn, and Savannah Middle School, and later managed Savannah Estates. A long-time member of St. John’s Church, Amazonia, Anna was a member of Creative Circle, Senior Citizen’s Center, and Andrew County Ministries. Anna volunteered at Rolling Hills Library, and served on the Andrew County Ministries RSVP Advisory Board.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, and a great-grandson.

Survivors: David and Lacia Doss, Amazonia; Barbara Smith, Savannah; and Diane Vulgamott, College Station, Texas; seven grandchildren: Melinda and Brad Cordell, Savannah; Julie and Cregg Coon, Agency, Mo.; Kelly and Mike Furtado, Savannah; Brian and Sabrina Doss, Wathena, Kans.; Jamie and Zach Stevens, Norman, Okla.; Amber and John Lubanski, College Station; and Adam and Heather Vulgamott, Montgomery, Texas; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Donald F. Meredith, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri, gained his wings Saturday, April 23, 2022.

He was born March 17, 1931 in St. Joseph to Wally Meredith and Ada Dixon.

Donald proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked at Westab for 30 years, retiring at age 72. An eternal athlete and All-American at St. Joseph Junior College, Donald enjoyed golfing and swimming. He was an all-around good guy who loved to joke around but would help anyone in need at any time. He will be sorely missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jeannette; and a great-grandson.

He is survived by 17 children; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Jacquelyn Belcher; and numerous extended family and friends.

Kai Boucher, 27, Surprise, Arizona, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022.

He was born February 12, 1995 in St. Joseph to Randall and Gail (Smith) Boucher. Kai was a 2012 graduate of Lafayette High School, where he was on the baseball team his freshman year. He also worked at Fazoli’s for two years during high school. He enjoyed playing the guitar and was an avid skateboarder. He was a friendly guy who never met a stranger and would give you his last dollar.

Kai was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dale Smith.

He is survived by his mother, Gail Boucher; sisters, Brandie Thornton and Julian McCartney (Charlie); nephews, Trevor, Caleb, and Brody McCartney; great-niece, Everly McCartney; other extended family and friends.

Kelly Ann Franklin, 59, of Atchison KS went to her heavenly home somewhere over the rainbow on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, from her home surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with cancer. Kelly worked as a tester for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association for 35 years. She also co-owned and operated the Hardware Store in Atchison since 1997. Kelly was very active as a 4-H Leader, as a Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Xi-Delta-Zigma Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, a former member of the St. Joseph’s Altar Society, member of the St. Benedicts Parish, and enjoyed Geocaching, cruise ship traveling, trips with her sorority sisters, and loving and living life. Kelly was the organizer of just about anything asked by her kids and husband. She was married to Derek Franklin on June 29, 1984, at St. Joseph’s Church. Derek survives with their three children, Monica Franklin, Wichita, KS, Brent (Molly) Franklin and Grant (BriAnna) Franklin, both of Atchison, KS, a brother Mark (Stephanie) Hegarty, Cloverdale, CA and four sisters, Jane (Tim) Pickman, Susie Kinsey, Shelly (Bill) Andre, all of Atchison, KS, and Mary Jo (Jeff) Cole, Eagle River, AK, and three grandchildren Landon, Aleah, Derek.

Kelly Ann Franklin (Hegarty) 1963 - 2022

Edwin Dennis Ford, 84, of Wathena, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at his home. Dennis was born on February 1, 1938, to E.B. and Marie (Ohl) Ford. He grew up in Doniphan, Kansas and attended Troy High School. His best friend in high school was Jack Ainlay and Jack’s younger sister, Carolyn Kay, would just happen to be hanging around whenever “Denny” was over. After high school, Dennis attended Highland Community College and was a member of the Air National Guard, later making his way to the University of Kansas. Upon returning to the area, he reconnected with Carolyn, and they were married on June 9, 1962, in Troy, Kansas.&nbsp;

Dennis began working at Bendena Grain Company in the early 60’s, moving to Wathena a few years later to manage Wathena Grain Company, while also farming part-time. He and Carolyn made their home in Wathena for over a half century, where he served his community as a member of the City Council in 1971-75, serving as president of the Council in 1973-1975. Although he preferred to farm over just about anything, his ability to do so diminished as his business responsibilities grew. He was a well-respected business owner in Doniphan County and among his peers throughout the State, having served on the Board of the Kansas Grain and Feed Association from 1989 into the latter part of the next decade. Dennis was also a pilot and loved everything about airplanes.&nbsp;

Dennis was a soft-spoken, compassionate man. He cared deeply for people, but always preferred to help quietly, behind the scenes. He rarely offered opinions or advice but when he did, we listened – he was very thoughtful and intuitive, never responding in reaction. Dennis was also a hard-working, faithful man. Working was something he considered an honor. He loved the land, he loved his family, and he loved his country. He never took the great fortune of living in the United States of America for granted.&nbsp;

Dennis was a wonderful husband and father and was beyond thrilled when his grandbabies started to arrive, which prompted him to slow down at work and spend more quality time at the Lake of the Ozarks. Lots of wonderful memories were made at the lake house, where he and Carolyn graciously hosted however many people could fit inside! It was a true blessing that his grandchildren grew up close by and were able to spend lots of quality time with him. This allowed them to learn by example what it means to be an honest and genuine soul.&nbsp;

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mary Elizabeth and Bernadine (“Bernie”) and brothers-in-law Jack Masters, Loren Edge, and Jack Ainlay.&nbsp;

Dennis is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn, his two daughters, Lisa Robertson (Charley) of St. Joseph and Angela Guinn (Rick) of Overland Park, Kansas, his six grandchildren, Meg, Jack, Sam, Laura, Ben and Matthew, his two sisters Florence Edge of Omaha, Nebraska and Kitty Nourie (Bob) of Doniphan, Kansas and many dear friends.&nbsp;

Edwin "Dennis" Ford 1938 - 2022

Eldon “Butch” Allen, 50, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022.

He was born November 16, 1971, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Eldon Lee and Delpha (Walters)Berg.

Butch married Paige Hinkle April 25, 1998. She survives of the home. He enjoyed motocross, fishing, camping, and bonfires. Butch always liked to experience new things and live life on the edge, he would help anyone that he could. Butch loved spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Brian Terry Allen; stepfather, Dana Berg.

Butch married Paige Hinkle April 25, 1998. She survives of the home. He enjoyed motocross, fishing, camping, and bonfires. Butch always liked to experience new things and live life on the edge, he would help anyone that he could. Butch loved spending time with his family and friends. Georgia (Georgie) Isabell Franken Scott passed peacefully on April 18, 2022, in Highland, Kansas surrounded by her loving family. Georgie, 98, was born near Severance, KS on May 20, 1923, to Eliza Roland Huss and Charles Huss. She was the only girl with four brothers. Georgie was the second to the youngest in her family and played on one of the first girls’ basketball teams at Severance High School graduating with the class of 1941. In her later years, she enjoyed reminiscing about her classmates and days at Severance High.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

She met Andrew Franken at a Severance Picnic dance and they married March 9, 1943. To this union, seven children were born. Andrew preceded her in death in 1965. Thanks to her brother, Howard, Georgie was introduced to Charley Scott, and they were married in August 1967. Charley died in 2004. Her brothers, Harold, Barney, Howard and Donnie, all predeceased her. Georgie was also preceded in death by two of her children, Mike Franken and Julie Hegarty, and son-in-law Patrick J. (Lynda), Mary Lou (Nick) Theis, daughter-in-law Beverly, Kelly (Denice), Joe (Gina) and Tim (Peggy), a legacy of 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren along with numerous step grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends will mourn her passing. Georgie’s heart knew no boundaries, she loved all of us and we will all be forever grateful for her.

Maysville, Missouri……Daniel Adams Baker, age 7, loving son of John and Renee Baker went home to be with the LORD on April 14, 2022.

Daniel was born on the family farm on February 23, 2015.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was the youngest of 10 children.

Daniel lived life differently from most but had many joys in his life.&nbsp;&nbsp;Daniel had such a capacity to love; He enjoyed snuggling with a blanket by his favorite window, climbing up on laps for story and songs, listening to piano and many types of music, playing pat-a-cake and giving “fives”.

His smile would light up your world and his hugs were unforgettable.&nbsp;

He is survived by his mom and dad (John and Renee Baker); nine siblings, “Team Daniel” - James, Nathan, John, Rebekah, Benjamin, Joseph, Paul, Grace and David; paternal grandparents, Larry and Ronnah Baker, Brenda Baker; maternal grandparents, Raymond and Judy Sweiger; and a host of family and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was born March 29, 1932, in Oxford, Missouri to Gloe and Eva (Dannar) Meek.

Mary married Earl Tullis June 17, 1950. He preceded her in death April 3, 2016. She was a member of Wyatt Park Christian Church. Mary and her husband, Earl, started the organization MERIL (Midland Empire Resources for Independent Living). Mary enjoyed going out to eat, enjoying her sweets, playing cards, watching wrestling and the Kansas City Royals. She loved visiting with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Matthew Shawn Tullis; brother, Charles Meek; sister, Helen Gregory.

Mary is survived by sons, Darren Clay Tullis and Michael “Starr” Tullis (Tammy); grandchildren, Ashley Callahan (Ryan) and Andrew Tullis; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Bayley, Ashlyn, Ryla, Mason and Haylen.

Brian Holland, 54, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

On October 23, 1967, he was born in St. Joseph, Missouri to Robert “Bob” and Patricia (Babcock) Holland. He later graduated from Central High School, St. Joseph, Missouri and served in the U.S. Army. Brian spent half his life in Jacksonville, Florida. Brian loved rock and roll. He played drums for many years and loved attending concerts. He was an excellent mechanic, a true jack of all trades working in construction and maintenance. He enjoyed fishing and golfing.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his mother; daughter, Leigh Ann Holland; son, Brian James Holland; granddaughter, Treleigh Titworth; brothers, Steve Holland (Steph) and Chad Langford (Heather); sister, Shona Allen (Jay); nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert “Bob” Norton, 75, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

Born December 19, 1946 to Robert Sr. and Geraldine Norton, Bob, the oldest of 5 children, learned early on the importance of leadership and responsibility to those we care about. He carried this philosophy throughout his life and was devoted to his family and to leading companies for the success of the people who worked there.

Bob’s path to business took a few turns as he gathered knowledge at each bend in the road. After graduating from Central High School, he had a brief stint in junior college before admitting fun took precedence over studies. For his next adventure, Bob enlisted in the Air Force where he served in Phoenix, Arizona and Okinawa, Japan, before returning to St. Joseph and college. He buckled down and earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Missouri Western State College and eventually earned his MBA from Northwest Missouri State University.

After college, he started a career in healthcare but soon found his footing in the meat harvesting &amp; packing business. This kept him on the move to Iowa, Nebraska and beyond. His career led him back to St. Joseph, Missouri becoming the CEO of BioZyme Incorporated.

His path widened along the way, and he started his family with two amazing sons – Jason (Genny) and Ryan (Caity). Bob’s family grew nicely in 1988 when he gained a beautiful daughter Ashley who he ultimately adopted in 2005. “Papa” Bob had five stellar grandchildren – Evan (Chelsea), Ava, Scarlett, Tripton and Pierce. He loved his children and all his family unequivocally, including his siblings Tom (Robin) Norton, Mary Beth Alpers (Denny), Roxanne Lawson (Jeffrey), and Samuel Scott Norton (Pam).

In 2006, he married Lisa. Lisa brought Lynsey (Dalton) Whitacre with her to the family and Bob gained a bonus daughter. Bob’s support for Lisa was tremendous and he stood beside her in all that she desired to do. Not always on the first try, but always. And she will forever be grateful for his love.

Bob’s generosity was monumental and included service to colleagues and support for community. He was a long-time supporter of AFIA, United Way, Shriners, Missouri Western State University and Veterans Airlift Command. A member of Wyatt Park Baptist Church, Bob served on many committees and his philanthropy helped many people who never knew from where it came.

He believed that “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously” (2 Corinthians 9:6). Bob was an incredibly generous man and his spirit of caring and generosity are ingrained in us all.

Robert “Bob” Norton 1946-2022

Ronald W Wilson, Sr., age 83, made his journey to Heaven on April 12, 2022, surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.

Ron was born October 11, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri to Beulah and Ernest Payne. Beulah later married James L. Wilson, who was a great father to him.

Ron was the beloved husband to Jacqueline Jean Wilson for 66 years, and father to son, Ronald W. Wilson II, and daughter, Michelle S. Hinkle. Ron was a refrigeration engineer with Preston Refrigeration in Kansas City, KS before enjoying retirement. He owned Wilson Trailer Sales and RW Homebuilders, building and renovating homes and commercial properties with his family for many years. He purchased and renovated the Starlite Country Plaza, Stewartsville, MO in 1997 and owned it until 2007. He was a 50-year member of the Brotherhood Lodge 269, St. Joseph, MO .

Ron enjoyed many activities with his family including fishing, sports activities and vacationing. He was a property owner at Lake Viking, Gallatin, MO for 28 years, enjoying time there with his family and friends.

Celebration of Life Service with public livestream at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Meierhoffer Funeral Home &amp; Crematory. The family will gather with friends 11:30 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service. Private inurnment at a later date.

Edward Thomas 1961 - 2022

Alane Engleman Studley, 60, St. Joseph, Missouri, died Tuesday, April 12, 2022.

On October 23, 1961 she was born in Menomonie, Wisconsin to Allan and Arla (Borchert) Engleman.

Alane graduated from Orono High School. She later graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Journalism.

Alane married Craig Studley on October 13, 1984 in Long Lake, Minnesota, near her childhood home.

Throughout her life she was renowned as an incredible athlete receiving numerous awards. Alane was named 1980 Minnesota High School All State in both volleyball and basketball. She also received the Athena Award, given to the Top 50 Metropolitan Minneapolis female athletes that same year. She ran Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota in 3 hours 43 minutes.

Alane was a member of the St. Joseph Country Club and an avid golfer, winning the Women’s Club Championship five times and the Highland Classic Championship six times. On the links, she experienced success amongst friends even when she played from the men’s tees. She enjoyed promoting youth golf, working countless hours with many of the area’s upcoming golfers and volunteering during Junior Golf events. She played in numerous Missouri Golf Association and Central Links events. Alane was a member of the Central Links Board of Directors.

During Alane’s career she worked for the United Way, in city government in code enforcement and as St. Joseph’s Director of Community Services, retiring from American Family as an insurance underwriter.

Alane was a life-long volunteer. Beginning in Minnesota, she worked closely with the Alzheimer’s Association. Years later she founded the Pet Partner Program for therapy dogs at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri. With her beloved poodles, she provided hours of therapy at the hospital and Living Community. At one time, more than 25 dogs and their partners served patients in our community. Alane was named Mosaic Life Care’s Volunteer of the Year and also named to St. Joseph’s 20 Who Count in 2014 for the impact of this program. Alane was a member of the St. Joseph Flower Society. She attended Ashland United Methodist Church.

Alane was preceded in death by her father, Allan; and mother-in-law, Carolyn Studley.

She is survived by husband, Craig; mother, Arla; brother, Arlo Engleman (Ann); father-in-law, Richard Studley; sisters-in-law, Lynn Mackin (Paul), and Sarah Boerner (Steven); nieces, Shannon Mackin, Haley Welch (Kevin), and Spencer Boerner; beloved poodles, Jetta and Hope; extended family and friends.

Fredrick J. Fridlington, 78, Country Club, Missouri passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022 with his wife, Michele, by his side.

On March 2, 1944 he was born to Thomas and Daisy (Musgrove) Fridlington in Knoxville, Iowa. He grew up in Melcher/Dallas, Iowa until graduating high school and leaving to attend Indian Hills Community College. He went on to attend NE Missouri State University (Truman State) where he earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Psychology and Education. He was later accepted to the Doctoral program at the University of Missouri. Many years of his career was spent with the Missouri Dept. of Mental Health. He continued and ended his career as founder, co-owner and Chairperson of Focus Family Options and Community Supports, Inc.

Fred was an avid reader and writer. He loved his family unconditionally and was a committed friend to many. He loved music, building houses, and the Knoxville National sprint car races as well as Coal Miners’ Day in Melcher. He was known to have a cocktail or two with his friends at the Hi Ho. His sense of humor was cutting edge and sometimes just cutting. His trivia knowledge is unmatched.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Thomas and Daisy Fridlington (Musgrove) and sisters, Faith Stephens (Fridlington) and Shirley Biddle (Fridlington).

Fredrick J. Fridlington 1944 - 2022

Lloyd Butler Finley, 97, of Knoxville, TN, went home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2022.

He was born to Bert and Stella (Butler) Finley on January 12, 1925 in Salem, MO. Lloyd graduated from Salem Senior High School, Salem, MO in 1942. It was there he met his soulmate, Loretta Pearl Hoover. They were not married until October 30, 1945 though as Lloyd joined the Navy at 17 years old to serve his country in World War II. He was on a PT boat in both the Aleutian Islands and the South Pacific before returning home in 1946. He remained in the reserves and was called back to the Korean War from 1951–1953.

Between the wars, Lloyd attended business school to study accounting in St Joseph, Mo. He was hired by Goetz Brewing Company which was later acquired by Pearl Brewing Company. He was promoted through the years to Controller and when the company decided to close the plant in St. Joseph, he was offered one of a few positions with Pearl at their headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. He remained there until his retirement at age 65 in 1991.

Then Lloyd and Loretta moved to Punta Gorda, FL to begin a new chapter as grandparents and #1 babysitters. Once the grandchildren were in school and golf and tennis were not enough to keep him busy, Lloyd went back to work as a courier for a local auto mall. This became a job he truly loved because of the number of people he was able to encourage and support during the day. Lloyd stayed in this position until he decided the company didn’t need the liability of a 90-year-old driving their company car.

Lloyd was the ultimate people person. He had hundreds who called him friend throughout his life — including the friends he made during his last months at the independent living facility and then the skilled nursing center. The one thing he always left people with was his infectious smile and his great attitude. When asked his secret to living so well and so long, he always answered, “Attitude. You choose your attitude and you can always choose to be happy no matter your circumstances.”

Lloyd’s greatest love after his wife was music. He had an iPod and computer filled with over 3,000 songs and he knew the words to every one of them. Lloyd always had a song on his lips and would often sing you a song with your name in it, or one that reminded him of you. Another of his famous quotes was, “you cannot be sad when listening to good music.” Even in his final months as his memory failed him at times, he still knew all the songs. He passed peacefully with his iPod playing next to him.

Lloyd is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Richard) Llewellyn of Knoxville, TN; granddaughter Lauryn (Brent) Fiechtner of College Station, TX; grandson Trey Llewellyn, Sevierville, TN; nephews Mike Loyd and Bud Hoover and nieces Pat Shultz, Marilyn Etherton and Pam Ward. 

He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Claire, his sister Cleo (Everett) Loyd, his son, Ron and the love of his life Loretta Pearl. They were married nearly 62 years when she passed.

A graveside celebration will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO. Arrangements by Meierhoffer Funeral Home.

He was promoted through the years to Controller and when the company decided to close the plant in St. Joseph, he was offered one of a few positions with Pearl at their headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. He remained there until his retirement at age 65 in 1991. Then Lloyd and Loretta moved to Punta Gorda, FL to begin a new chapter as grandparents and #1 babysitters. Once the grandchildren were in school and golf and tennis were not enough to keep him busy, Lloyd went back to work as a courier for a local auto mall. This became a job he truly loved because of the number of people he was able to encourage and support during the day. Lloyd stayed in this position until he decided the company didn’t need the liability of a 90-year-old driving their company car. Lloyd was the ultimate people person. He had hundreds who called him friend throughout his life — including the friends he made during his last months at the independent living facility and then the skilled nursing center. The one thing he always left people with was his infectious smile and his great attitude. When asked his secret to living so well and so long, he always answered, “Attitude. You choose your attitude and you can always choose to be happy no matter your circumstances.” Lloyd’s greatest love after his wife was music. He had an iPod and computer filled with over 3,000 songs and he knew the words to every one of them. Lloyd always had a song on his lips and would often sing you a song with your name in it, or one that reminded him of you. Another of his famous quotes was, “you cannot be sad when listening to good music.” Even in his final months as his memory failed him at times, he still knew all the songs. He passed peacefully with his iPod playing next to him. Lloyd is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Richard) Llewellyn of Knoxville, TN; granddaughter Lauryn (Brent) Fiechtner of College Station, TX; grandson Trey Llewellyn, Sevierville, TN; nephews Mike Loyd and Bud Hoover and nieces Pat Shultz, Marilyn Etherton and Pam Ward. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Claire, his sister Cleo (Everett) Loyd, his son, Ron and the love of his life Loretta Pearl. They were married nearly 62 years when she passed. A graveside celebration will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO. Arrangements by Meierhoffer Funeral Home.<figure>

Loretta L. Browning, 88 of Rushville, MO passed away Monday, April 11, 2022, at the Medicalodge of Atchison, KS. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with Rev. Tim Champ officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Creek Cemetery, Rushville, MO. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.&nbsp; Loretta was born January 8, 1934, in Atchison, KS, the daughter of Harry and Lucille (Meyer) Highfill. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1952. Loretta was insurance clerk at Bell Agency and secretary at Commerce Company. She was a member of the Rushville Christian Church. Loretta enjoyed coloring books with her granddaughter, puzzles and hearing what her grandchildren were up too, word searches, reading, hummingbirds, cats and cooking. Loretta married William Browning on July 9, 1966, at Rushville Christian Church, he preceded her on November 13, 2015.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan and Charlie Kramer, Atchison, KS, grandchildren, Dillon, Blaine and Carlie Kramer. She was also preceded by her parents, and an infant son Thomas Browning.

Joyce C. (Elliott) Rush, 87, of Bendena, Kansas passed away, Sunday, April 10, 2022, at the Living Community in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Joyce was born on March 6, 1935, in Hastings, Nebraska to Victor Thornton and Gretchen “Grace” Henrietta (Schmidt) Elliott.

She earned her teaching degree from Missouri Western College and taught English for the Highland High School. She was a member of the Denton United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Doniphan County Teacher’s Association and served on the Highland Community Junior College Board of Directors.

Joyce married Frank Rush on September 5, 1954, in Robinson, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 13, 2001. She was also preceded in death by a son, Stephan, her parents and a brother Lester Elliott.

Survivors: sons, Larry Rush (Ann), Bendena, Kansas. Bill Rush (Linda), Dekalb, Missouri. David Rush (Karyl), Eldorado, Kansas. Danny Rush (Jerre), Bendena, Kansas. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren,

Jo Ann Tindle, 83, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022.

On May 30, 1938 she was born to William and Dolly (Wilson) Harris in St. Joseph, Missouri.

She married Buford Tindle on June 9, 1956. Together they enjoyed 65 years of marriage. Jo Ann was a devoted, loving wife and mother. A favorite of hers was the big Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations at her house with everyone present. She also discovered her love of gambling in Las Vegas, later in life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Nanette Hale and Patsy Ridpath; and brothers, Dr. William Harris and Dr. Sidney Harris.

She is survived by her husband; sons, Gregory Allen Tindle (Cynthia Griggs), Steven Lee Tindle, Jeffrey Scott Tindle (Vickie Gregory), David Leon Tindle (Beth); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family.

Jackson Aaron Veale, 27, St. Joseph, Missouri, left this earth Friday, April 8, 2022 to take a job answering technical calls above for the Best Buy in Heaven.

He was born March 7, 1995, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Michael and Cynthia (Zoubek) Veale.

Jackson was a technology advisor at Best Buy and enjoyed his job to the fullest. He enjoyed fishing, helping others, video games, camping, but most of all spending time with his family and friends. Jackson loved his Best Buy family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Longin and Lorraine Zoubek, Charles and Marilyn Veale; uncle, Bruce Veale.

Jackson is survived by his parents, Michael and Cynthia Veale; brother and best friend, Brandon and wife Alexandrea Veale; nephew, Benjamin Dean Veale; aunts and uncles, Ron and Barb Zoubek, Linda Zoubek, Leigh Ann and Kevin Pray; numerous cousins, friends and extended family.
