She was born on July 24, 1952, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Lee R. and Helen D. (Lonjers) Perry. She attended Lafayette High School.

She enlisted with the United States Marine Corps in 1972. After her time with the Marines, Betty served as a bus driver for Head Start.

Betty enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mark Crabtree, and brother, Danny Perry.

He was a 1998 graduate of Lafayette High School and played baseball at Butler Community College, where he earned his Associate of Arts degree. He spent his last 20 years working at Lincare.

Better known as “Little” by most, he was a big man with a great smile and huge heart. He was our big teddy bear.

Bret loved hanging out with his friends, playing pool, golfing and taking vacations, especially on his Slingshot.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Pearl Poe, and his maternal grandmother, Patty Powell.

Clarence F. Ashler, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away November 23, 2023.&nbsp;

He was born March 14, 1932 to Oliver and Emma (Butler) Ashler in Maysville, Missouri. They later moved to Union Star, Missouri.

He attended grade school at a one room country school and graduated from high school at Union Star in 1950.

He married Sandra Kay McGinness on April 18, 1970 in Ravenwood, Missouri.

Clarence served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War (September 1952 through September 1954) in the 45th Infantry Division, 189th Field Artillery Battalion B Battery.&nbsp;

After military service, he worked at the St. Joseph Stockyards as an office manager, secretary-treasurer and assistant manager. He retired from there in 1996.

He worked at St. Francis Senior Complex from January 1997 to June 2005, retiring from there after 7-1/2 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Gladys Wright, and brother John Ashler.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay Ashler, daughters Janet Peabody and Deborah Hill, 2 granddaughters, 5 great-grandchildren, brother, Omer Ashler and several nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Lafayette High School in 1969. She married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Ray McMillian on August 15, 1970. While her work at Seitz brought her immense satisfaction, it was her role as a devoted caretaker to all around her that truly defined her character.

Judy was an enthusiast of life’s simplest pleasures. Whether it was cooking Sunday dinners, dancing, bowling in the Saturday night league at Olympia Lanes, camping, fishing, or simply hosting a bonfire, Judy infused everything she did with warmth and love.&nbsp;

She is remembered fondly by her surviving loved ones: her devoted husband of 53 years, Thomas R. McMillian; children, Jannel Robinson (Dustin), Tommie Haeberle, and Mindy McMillian (Jumall Perkins); grandchildren, Hayden and Kalyn Haeberle, Tage and Jasmine Robinson, and Jumall Jones Jr. Judy is also survived by her father, Harry Calvert, and a host of extended family and friends.

Mary Kathryn Strunk, beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend, passed away on November 24, 2023 at Two Timbers, Highland, KS, where she received compassionate care the last two and one-half years of life. Born on August 5, 1939, Mary K lived a life rich in experiences, friendships, and a profound love for the arts.

Mary K is survived by her sons, Rus Goodin of Haines, Alaska, and Jon (Alison) Goodin of Houston, Texas, and her sister and husband, Elizabeth and Tom Smith, Highland, KS. She leaves behind three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mary K was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Earl Strunk, her brother Herb Strunk, and her daughter Lyn Collins.

A graduate of Highland High School in 1957, Mary K furthered her education at Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City, Missouri. She spent most of her life in the Kansas City area, holding various positions as an executive secretary. Later, she returned to Highland, where she continued her work at Nek-Cap in Hiawatha, Kansas, cultivating lasting friendships with Marilyn Siebenmorgan, Phyllis Shaefer, and Mary Korneman. Together, they formed a close-knit group known as the Sunflower Shoppers, sharing countless joyous moments.

Mary K’s last professional endeavor was at the HCC Library as the evening library aide, where she continued to make a positive impact in her community.

A woman of refined taste and unrivaled wit, Mary K had a deep love for classical music, especially Mozart, and opera. Her passion for literature was evident in her avid reading habits, and her remarkable vocabulary was a testament to her intellectual curiosity. Mary K’s love extended beyond the human realm to encompass her affection for animals, particularly her beloved kitties. During her time in hospice care, she formed a special bond with Dill, the hospice nurse's cat.

Mary Kathryn Strunk's life was a tapestry woven with love, friendship, and a genuine appreciation for the finer things in life. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

She was born on June 22, 1932 to Cecil L. and Jennie Mae (Muse) Windsor in Faucett, MO. Mary Lou's life was a tapestry of love, adventure, and community spirit. In 1950, she married William C. Moss and together they built a life on a farm outside Stewartsville, Missouri, raising their three sons.&nbsp;

Mary Lou's zest for life shone through her veracious travels, which included cruising to Alaska, exploring the vibrant streets of New York City and Washington D.C, and cherished vacations with her sons and grandchildren. Her adventurous spirit remained undimmed well into her late 80s, exemplified by her enthusiasm for canoeing.&nbsp;

An active member of the community, Mary Lou found joy in her monthly Bunko game with friends, volunteered at Bethany Church, and expressed her creativity through playing her organ. Her baking skills were legendary; she was always eager to share her latest recipe and welcomed visitors with her delicious cakes and cookies. An ardent fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, she shared her passion for sports with all who knew her.&nbsp;

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Jennie and Frank Warren and Cecil Windsor; her husband, William C. Moss; siblings, Larry Windsor, Patty Mallen, and Joan Schleicher; and grandson, Dalton Moss.&nbsp;

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her sister, Pam Carlson; her children, Bruce and Kathy Moss, Gregg Moss, Dean and Lisa Moss; her grandchildren, Deanna (Troy) Dessert, Dale Moss, Spencer Moss, Mackenzie Moss, and Rachel Hawkins; and her great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Christian, Hagen Moss, William Luebbert, and Sandi Luebbert.&nbsp;

She was born on July 19, 1975, to David Coleman and Carol Anne (Myrvold) Roy at the Navy Hospital in Guam. She graduated from Burleson High School, in Bruleson, TX in 1993 and in 1995 she received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland.

Angela was married for 22 years, Bryan Bisel. While living in Aurora she worked as a controller for multiple large restaurant chains. She loved baking, cooking and hosting large events. Angela was a free spirit who enjoyed living her life on her terms.&nbsp;

&nbsp;She is survived by her parents David and Carol Roy; sister Jenniffer Sammons; brother Michael Roy and wife Suzy; nieces and nephews Micheala, Christopher, Tyler, Austin, Josie, and Garrett; other relatives and many friends.&nbsp;

He worked at Wire Rope &amp; Blue Side Tanning as a fork life operator. He enjoyed fishing, cowboy movies, and the Kansas City Chiefs.  Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Angela Nasilowski, former wife, Patricia Lynn Hoffman, and  granddaughter, Heather. Richard Keith Edwards, 82, Erie, Kansas; formerly of Fillmore, Missouri; passed away, Saturday, November 25, 2023.

Keith was born on August 10, 1941 in Fillmore, Missouri; to the late Charles and Imo (Lance) Edwards. &nbsp;He was a graduate of Fillmore High School.

Mr. Edwards served his country in the Air National Guard from 1960-1966.

In addition to being a lifelong farmer, Keith retired from Allen County Road and Bridge as a heavy equipment operator.

Keith’s hobbies included farming on the family farm and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Keith married Nancy Jane Edwards on February 14, 1995 and celebrated twenty-eight years together. Keith had previously married Ramona Hughes, and from that union had four children.

Keith is survived by his wife, Nancy, of the home; daughter, Tanya Edwards; son, Richard Edwards (Jennifer); daughter, Ginger Mason (Dan); step-son, Loren Lance (Regina); step-daughter, Nyla Wright; grandchildren, Zack Wright (Teresa), &nbsp;Jacob Grubb (Chauncey), Robert Tyler Cheek (Kassie), Cody Edwards (Maggie), Wyatt Mason (Sarah), Kensey Dyer (Zach), Conner Mason, Emma Mason; step-grandchildren, Korenne Wolken, Lydia Gable and Rebecca Smith; ten great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-granddaughter; sister, Charlynn Edwards and dog/son, Buster.

In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by his daughter, Tamey Grubb and brother, Gary Edwards.

Donald Wayne Schweder, 91, was born and raised in the French Bottoms of St. Joseph, MO to Herman and Lela (Milbourn) Schweder. &nbsp;Don passed away November 22, 2023 in the company of his family.

Don was a union sheet metal worker for Local 2 at Hausman Metalworks and Roofing. &nbsp;He was a founding member of Green Valley Baptist Church. &nbsp;In 1951, he married Virginia Gill who preceded him in death in February 2009. Don was also preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Vicky Lynn Schweder and a brother; Herman Henry "Junior" Schweder.

He is survived by four daughters; Susan Walker (Bill), Janet Didlo (Ernie), Donna Vogel Roberts, Robbin Talbot (Martin) and a sister Barbara Stanton. &nbsp;He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; Billy Walker (Nichole), Dustin Didlo (Dena), Ryan Vogel (Jennifer), Joseph Talbot (Tori), Jason Talbot, Lana Poland, Rachael Bailey (Stephen), Tabitha Mercer (Winslow) and Ginny Didlo (Anthony); &nbsp;17 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

He was born on April 22, 1952, in Dalhart, Texas to Fred and Alva (Hancock) Brown.

On February 17, 1979, he married Pamela Jane Allen, with whom he shared 43 years before she passed away on January 3, 2022.

He was a member of the United States Air Force. Richard was employed as a truck driver for 57 years, traveling all over the country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Pamela and sister, Wanda Bevans.

Survivors include his sons, Geoffrey Brown (Teresa) and Doug Brown (Lucia Zamarron); two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and sister, Nelda Estes.

She was born May 22, 1947 in Carthage, Missouri to Lorenzo and Clara (Horn) Brandon. She grew up in St. Joseph and graduated from Central High School.

Victoria married Gerald Francis Berry on March 22, 1974. He preceded her in death on October 22, 2023.&nbsp;

She earned her Certified Medical Assistant degree from Vatterott College, then worked at Tiffany Square Nursing Home. Later, she was a bookkeeper for several years at McDonald’s until retirement.

Victoria enjoyed horseback riding, camping and, in her younger years, riding around with her brother-in-law Melvin on his Triumph motorcycle. She loved to read and watch classic Western movies with Gerald.

Victoria loved having the whole family over for big holiday dinners.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Gerald; daughter, Belinda; a great-grandson, Beau; her parents; and siblings, Norman Brandon, David Brandon, Margaret Price, and DeeDee White.

Survivors include her children, Ruth Ann Rippey (Steve), James Berry (Dianne), Gene Berry (Katie), and Dean Berry (Charlotte); 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and cousin, Carletta Arnold.

Victoria C. Berry 1947 - 2023

Leroy C. Miller Jr., 79, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed from this world on Saturday, November 18, 2023, while holding the hands of his children, and was reunited with his wife Glenda and grandson Colt in Heaven.

He was born on December 15, 1943, to Leroy C. and Betty L. (Carpenter) Miller in St. Joseph, Missouri. Leroy was a proud graduate of Central High School class of 1962 and he attended Northwest Missouri State University on a football scholarship.

On May 11, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart, Glenda Kay Middaugh. Glenda was the love of his life. Since her passing, he always said they should have had “at least 10 or 15 more years” together. Glenda preceded him in death on February 2, 2011.

Together they had two loving children, who were his pride and joy. Leroy enjoyed volunteering to coach their athletic events as children and supported them in every aspect of their childhood and adult lives. They were both by his side as he reunited with his true love.

He dedicated 30 years to Procter &amp; Gamble as a regional sales manager until retiring in 2009. He supervised and mentored many, many people who became life-long friends. He received numerous awards for leadership and sales excellence. His career with P&amp;G was fulfilling and rewarding.

Leroy enjoyed retirement, spending his time reminiscing with his friends from high school. He was very active in his graduating class luncheons and reunions. It was said that he always knew how to work a room and he never knew a stranger. Leroy embraced a passion for the outdoors. He particularly loved camping. He spent much of his time in Branson, MO camping with family and friends. He had a great love for nature and wildlife, especially favoring buffalo and cardinals. He was an animal lover who had a special place in his heart for horses, dogs, cats, and many other fur babies. Leroy was a lifelong John Wayne and Clint Eastwood fan. He spent his free time watching his favorite Westerns and his all-time favorite, ‘Jerimiah Johnson.’ He also enjoyed spending time woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 47 years, Glenda Kay, his precious grandson, Colt Daniel Lee Jordan, his dog, Boone, who he referred to as “his pard,” and his cat, Boo.

Survivors include his children, Tyron Miller (Judy) and Amelia Zane Anne Jordan (Daniel); cherished grandchildren, MyKayla Miller and Stephan Jordan; sister, Cheryl Jordan (Larry) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his long-term companion, Linda Stiles of Leavenworth, Ks.

Leroy’s children would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Living Community for their dedication and care during Leroy’s final journey. He was described by staff as “a shining light who brought laughter and joy to those around him.”

He was an animal lover who had a special place in his heart for horses, dogs, cats, and many other fur babies. Leroy was a lifelong John Wayne and Clint Eastwood fan. Bethany, Missouri…..Henry William “Bill” Bane, age 71, was born December 12, 1951, in St. Louis, MO, the son of &nbsp;Albert Marion Bane Jr. and Marie Teresa (Lutostanski) Bane passed away November 19, 2023, in Bethany, MO.&nbsp;

Bill served in the United States Marine Corp 12 1/2 years during Vietnam, where he served two tours as a Helicopter door gunner.&nbsp; During Bill’s second tour of duty in Vietnam his helicopter took fire and went down.&nbsp; Bill sustained injuries that earned a purple heart. &nbsp;On December 17, 1993, Bill and Carol Ann Best were united in marriage in Liberty, MO.&nbsp; Bill and Carol raised their family in the Kansas City area where Bill was a computer software/hardware engineer for the Kansas City Water Department.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Dennis, Alfred, and Frances; and granddaughter, Autumn.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Carol; two daughters, Julie Wiltse (Tim) and Lisa Loftin-Jones; three siblings, Alvenda Bane, Hazel Proffett, and Richard Bane; six grandchildren, Mercedes, Brett, Jehrell, Caroline, Frederick, and Maxwell; great-grandson, Luke, with another on the way; &nbsp;and numerous nieces and nephews.

James Floyd Creal, 94, of Edgerton, MO passed away, November 20, 2023.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was born on June 13, 1929 to Lewis Floyd and Marie (Horn) Creal in St. Joseph, MO. He grew up in Edgerton, MO and Wichita, KS and graduated from high school in Wichita, KS. He then served his country in the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge in 1950 he first settled in Bakersfield, CA, and later in Visalia, CA. While living in California he first worked for Carnation Dairy. He then became a manager for an office that rented/sold equipment mostly used for farming and irrigation. He later owned and electrical alarm business and did most the electricians work there as well. Jim returned to Missouri in the late 1970’s where he owned and operated his own electrical business.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

He is survived by his daughter, Lynn (Greg) Stevenson; grandchildren, Peter (Rebecca) Stevenson and Sarah (Josh) Woodworth; great-grandchildren, Rita Woodworth, Robert Woodworth, Wesley Stevenson, and Andrew Stevenson; sister, Margaret.

Sister Jo Ann Fellin, OSB, 89, a Benedictine sister of Mount St. Scholastica, Atchison, Kan., died on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, at the monastery. The vigil service will be Friday, Nov. 24, at 7 p.m. in the monastery chapel, and the Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated there Saturday, Nov. 25, at 10:30 a.m.&nbsp;

Sister Jo Ann was born in Marshfield, Mo., the youngest of three children. After finishing high school in Springfield, Mo., she attended Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas. In 1956 she entered the Mount Benedictines and then earned her M.A. and PhD. from the University of Illinois, Urbana, Ill. She taught mathematics at Mount St. Scholastica (later Benedictine) College for 40 years. In her religious community, she served on the community council, senate, formation team, and numerous committees. In honor of her Aunt Mary, she established the Fellin Lecture series to bring noteworthy women speakers to Benedictine College. In addition, she received many awards, including the Benedictine College Distinguished Educator award and both the Kappa Mu Epsilon Distinguished Member and Distinguished Service awards. She also produced an extensive body of presentations and articles on various aspects of mathematics.

Sister Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Peo Fellin and Anna Millie Sperandio. She is survived by her brother Phillip and sister Rose Marie, nieces and nephews, and her monastic family. Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.&nbsp;

Juanita Rose (Field) Moberg of Savannah, Mo. passed away Sunday, November 19th, 2023 at local care facility in Savannah. &nbsp;She was born near Savannah to Harry and Dollie “Susie” (Nold) Field on October 28, 1925. She attended the Howard School near Savannah for eight years and then went on to Savannah High School, graduating in 1943.

Following graduation, as her plan through high school was to go into office work, she entered Platt-Gard Business School in St. Joseph. Following this, she went to work at Tootle-Campbell Wholesale Dry Goods as secretary to the credit manager, then the treasurer, then the president, then on to accounts payable clerk for both their St. Joseph and Omaha offices for 17 years. In 1969 she went to work for Glen Zahnd in his law office in Savannah as his secretary, retiring in 1988.

On February 12, 1950, she married Kenneth Moberg of St. Joseph at the Savannah United Methodist Church. They lived in St. Joseph until 1964 when they built their home on her home-place on Route T, Savannah.

She was an active member of the Savannah United Methodist Church most of her lifetime being Church Treasurer for many years. &nbsp;She was a member of Business and Professional Women’s Club, Cheerie Housewives (formerly Extension CIub), Friendly Neighbors Club, Rosendale Garden Club, The Jesse James Red Hat Club of St. Joseph, and the Savannah Women"s Club. &nbsp;Her favorite hobby was working in the yard with her many flowers.

Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Kenny in 2002, her father in 1977 and her mother in 1994. She is survived by many cousin sand friends who were very dear to her.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, November 25th, 2023 at The United Methodist Church in Savannah, MO. She was a member of Cornerstone Church of Savannah. She enjoyed her family, going to church, playing bingo, and her friends at the Andrew County Senior Center. &nbsp;

Maggie is survived by her church family, several cousins, extended family, and numerous friends. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Julia Mae Pettijohn.

Derald was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dean, Danny, and Cecil Cannon, sisters, Denise Cannon and Darla Cannon.
