Lawson, Missouri……Theodore “Ted or Teddy” Ratliff, age 70, was born March 17, 1954 in Belleville, Michigan the son of Samuel and Armina (Childers) Ratliff and passed away October 15, 2024.

Ted and Marcia Jean Richards were united in marriage on May 17, 1975.&nbsp;&nbsp;To this union five children were born. He was a member of Pro Bowlers Association and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints the Crooked River Ward in Kearney, Missouri. Ted enjoyed bowling, fishing and watching Michigan Football when he had free time. However, his true love was spending time with his family and his beloved dogs.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Celestial; and his sister, Voncille Blackburn.

Ted is survived by his loving wife, Marcy; four children, Chris (Linda) Ratliff, Melissa (Aaron) Clint, Ryan (Rachel) Ratliff, and Lani Holaday; three sisters, Vivian White, Judy Hoffman, and Karen Johnson; and fourteen grandchildren, Porter, Logan, Kameryn, Jaxyn, Brookelin, Baustinn, Kynzi, Peyton, Preston, Paisley, Paige, Parker, Oliver, and Maison.

Maysville, Missouri…Sharon Elaine Wade, age 68, was born December 26, 1955 the daughter of Duane and Anna Maureen Hunsaker in Fort Knox, Kentucky and went home to Jesus on October 15, 2024 while surrounded by her loved ones.&nbsp;

On October 5, 1974 she married Ronald Lynn Wade in Plattsburg, Missouri. Sherry worked many years for Casey’s General Store as the Area Supervisor until she retired in 2013. Sherry was the rock of her family, always there for her kids and grandkids no matter what. Always everyone’s biggest supporter, especially when it came to any sport they were involved in. When it came to her grandkids, they always knew how much their “Nana” loved them and telling them all “I love you Always and Always.” A huge piece of this family is now watching over them all.

Wilma LaVelle Rand was born 8/30/1936 in Windsor, MO. She died on 10/12/2024. Her parents were Wilma (Moore) Rand and Charles Edwin Rand. She grew up in Carterville, MO. 

Her siblings are Charles Edwin Rand, Jr., Donna Rand and Keith Rand. Her daughter’s name is Donna (Fojas) McKown, her husband James Alan McKown. Her niece is Debi (Rand) Greek. Her grandson James Andrew McKown, his wife April (Smith) McKown, great grandchildren E.J. McKown and Emersyn McKown. Jeremy Alan McKown her grandson and his wife, Brittany (Rospierski) McKown.

She graduated from Carterville High School and was valedictorian of her class. She also attended Joplin Junior College.

Norman Glen Cook, Sr., 87, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

He was born July 25, 1937 to Levi L. and Lucille A. (Stigers) Cook in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Norman married Judy Ann Knadler on July 2, 1960.

He retired from the United States Army after proudly serving for 28 years.

He was a member of Harmony Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a Troop 25 Scout Master, and a Tribe of Mic-O-Say Honorary Warrior Star Travois.

Norman enjoyed spending his time square dancing with Judy. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Deborah Richardson; granddaughter, Caitlin Cook; siblings, Homer and Maxine Cook.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years; sons, N. Glen Cook (Lana) and Daniel Cook (Dawn), and Bruce Cook; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Ruby Warner, 96 of St. Joseph, Mo. peacefully passed away surrounded by family at her home on October 13, 2024; Ruby was the seventh of 9 children born to Carl and Elsie Stuart. She graduated from Rosendale High School before marrying John Warner in 1949. He preceded her in death in 1978, along with all of her siblings, her grandson Eric Christgen and son-in-laws William Healy and Jerry Ham.

Ruby had fourchildren, Dixie Ham, Vicki Christgen (Ed), Larry Warner and Janette Healy. Eleven grandchildren: Jason Ham (Cydney), Douglas Ham (Kristen), Dustin Ham (Miranda), Victoria Christgen, Tate Christgen (Lauren), Chris Christgen (Tammy), Brian Christgen, Katie Warner, Savannah Healy, Brianna Roppoli (Kevin), Emerson Healy and 13 great grandchildren.

Ruby's entire life was based on family. First with her Mother, Father and her 8 siblings. They were a very close, loving family for all of their lives. &nbsp; Ruby was always the happiest with a child running around her while she cooked. She absolutely loved cooking, especially big family meals. Her biggest smiles were being with her family with a baby on her lap. She beamed when she was with her grand and great grandchildren.

When Ruby was 90 she moved to Country Squire and immediately started making friends and mischief. It was a wonderful, loving environment with a wonderful staff and loving friends. She had many challenging health conditions and the residents and the staff helped her face them with love and assistance.

Her family especially wants to thank the Country Squire staff, Mark, Marisa, Velvet, Jace, Cassie and all the loving employees who offered a helping hand, kindness and love.

Also we want to thank all the Freudenthal Ladies, Jennifer E, Donna, Trina, Lisa and Tina for their many hours of service and love. We also are so thankful for the love and service Tammy, our private caregiver, gave her day and night. &nbsp;

Ruby Warner 1927 - 2024

Gregory David Lundry Sr., born on the 8th of March, 1961, died at the age of 63, in his home on October 7th, 2024. 

He was proceeded in death by his parents, David and Leota Lundry, and his two grandchildren, Ryan Parris and Jesse Potter. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Keri Lundry and his dearest sisters Sandy (Darrell) Coons and Regina (David) Pfeiffer.

Greg was a loving husband to his cherished wife Keri and devoted to their children: Tonja (Devon) Scott, Tara Lundry, Gregory Lundry, Melanie (Donald) Green, Sarah (Ron) Hazen, Amanda (Billie) Tippit, Andrew Chilson, Joshua (Kelley) Chilson and the granddaughter they raised together in their blended family, Gabriella Lundry.

Together they have 38 wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren. And many more nieces and nephews that have blessed their many long years together. 

Greg was not only an extremely dedicated man to his family, but that dedication and pride was also in his work. Through each step of his career, Greg formed deep connections, finding not just colleagues but lifelong friends who enriched his life. Greg’s warmth, humor, and loyalty left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege to know him.

He was always the one to have a smile on his face when he entered the room; someone who truly believed that no matter what, it would all be okay. He trusted in the faith he had for his family and friends with unconditional compassion. He will be dearly missed by all of those that were blessed to know him.

Agnes Marie (Dombrowe) Kiehnhoff, age 95, of Wathena, KS went to be with the Lord on October 14, 2024. Agnes was born on July 7, 1929, in Robinson, KS to Emil and Elise (Spiekerman) Dombrowe.

She was a life-long resident of Wathena. She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Wathena. She was a member of Mary-Martha Circle and LWML.

Agnes married Henry Kiehnhoff, Jr., on September 16, 1950. &nbsp;To this union they were blessed with seven children.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a son Donald, her brother Frank Dombrowe, sisters Ann Nimtz and Elsie Ruhnke. 

She is survived by her children Carolyn (John) Wallace, Grapevine, TX; Kathy (Jerry) Lau, St. Joseph, MO; Nancy Foley, Wathena; Marcia (Rick) Stover, Grimes, IA; John (Joy) Kiehnhoff, Wathena; and Mark (Jackie) Kiehnhoff, Wathena; sisters Elizabeth Bahr, Wathena; Mary Howard, Marysville, KS. &nbsp;16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Reagen Scott Toews, 75, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away on Sat. October 12, 2024, at his home. Reagen quietly endured life with Parkinson’s for nearly 20 years.

Reagen was born August 30, 1949, in Hutchinson, Kan., the son of Abraham (Abe) Willem Toews and Fern Esther Rickard. He attended public schools in both Hutchinson and Atchison, graduating from Atchison High School in 1967. Reagen initially worked construction with his father. After many years of experience in the trades, working alongside crews of men he enjoyed and admired, he built his own business using the good-natured motto, “We may be slow, we may be expensive, but gosh darn it, people like us. ”Reagen was a gentle giant who took pride in his work—touching many lives and buildings in northeast Kansas. He had a strong, quiet faith that offered guidance to many a young man who needed a father figure and a generous heart to those in need. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for nearly 50 years. Reagen enjoyed fishing, especially in his beloved Independence Creek, had a great sense of humour, and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, old movies, classic rock, and scaring people. He was a stealth ninja when catching frogs, snakes, crawdads, and climbing out of hospital beds without permission.

Reagen and Kathleen (Katie) A. Corrigan were united in marriage at Trinity Episcopal Church, Atchison, Kan., and celebrated 25 years together in 2024. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include two sons, Levi (Jessica) Toews of Garden City, MO; Peter Corrigan of Denver, CO; one daughter, Rebecca Welch of Atchison; three siblings: Steve (Helga) Toews of Athens, AL; Kathleen (Don) Swanson, Shoreview, MN; and Christy Toews of Nortonville, KS; two granddaughters, Madison and Mackenzie Welch; five nieces and nephews; and beloved members of his extended Toews, Corrigan, and Cyr families. After many years of experience in the trades, working alongside crews of men he enjoyed and admired, he built his own business using the good-natured motto, “We may be slow, we may be expensive, but gosh darn it, people like us. ”Reagen was a gentle giant who took pride in his work—touching many lives and buildings in northeast Kansas. He had a strong, quiet faith that offered guidance to many a young man who needed a father figure and a generous heart to those in need. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for nearly 50 years. Reagen enjoyed fishing, especially in his beloved Independence Creek, had a great sense of humour, and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, old movies, classic rock, and scaring people. He was a stealth ninja when catching frogs, snakes, crawdads, and climbing out of hospital beds without permission.Reagen and Kathleen (Katie) A. Corrigan were united in marriage at Trinity Episcopal Church, Atchison, Kan., and celebrated 25 years together in 2024. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include two sons, Levi (Jessica) Toews of Garden City, MO; Peter Corrigan of Denver, CO; one daughter, Rebecca Welch of Atchison; three siblings: Steve (Helga) Toews of Athens, AL; Kathleen (Don) Swanson, Shoreview, MN; and Christy Toews of Nortonville, KS; two granddaughters, Madison and Mackenzie Welch; five nieces and nephews; and beloved members of his extended Toews, Corrigan, and Cyr families. Katelyn Mendoza, 27, of St Joseph, Missouri passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024 in Kansas City, MO. She was born August 17, 1997 in Kansas City, MO, daughter of DeDe Mendoza and Eugene Fanning. 

Katelyn attended Central High School. She was a free spirited girl, loved being around her family and her kids and enjoyed drawing and listening to music. She enjoyed her time working with Sisters of Solace.

Clarence Edward Burley 1953 - 2024

Russell Dale Teschner entered his eternal glory on October 14, 2024, after a sudden health issue in Cleveland, Ohio. Russ was born on November 23, 1952, to Clyde and Rufena (Judy) Teschner in St. Joseph, Missouri.

 He graduated from Benton High School in 1971, where he excelled in sports, was nicknamed "Bird," and met his wife, Gail Falkner. They married on May 10, 1974, and became the proud parents of Erik, Erin, and Nathan. Their log cabin home in Stewartsville was the site of many birthday parties and holiday gatherings. They also traveled in the family station wagon, embarking on vacations around the country.&nbsp;Russ accepted Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior as a young boy and was baptized on the same day as his mom at King Hill Baptist Church. He wholeheartedly believed the promise of Romans 10:9, "If you confess with your mouth 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." 

Over the years, Russ faithfully served at King Hill Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Stewartsville, and New Harvest Church.&nbsp;Throughout his life, Russ enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad, sons, brother Kent, nephews, and best friend Steve Rock, including yearly pheasant hunts in South Dakota. Russ also spent many hours cheering on his children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren at their sporting events and school activities. Hannah, Clay, Madison, Haidyn, and Teagan could count on “Papa Russ” to be in the stands. Russ worked most of his career at Quaker Oats then at Boehringer Ingelheim before retiring to Castalia, Ohio.

With his family and friends, Russ was known for his humor, wit, and rambunctiousness. Ask any of them, and they can tell you a Russ story. But they will also tell you how his gentle spirit encouraged and supported everyone around him. Russ will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, dad, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Especially to his children and grandchildren, the example Russ set is one they will follow for the rest of their lives.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jennifer Teschner, and brother Kent Teschner.

Faustino (Faust) C. Barbosa, 94, of Saint Joseph Missouri, peacefully passed away surrounded by family at his home on October 12, 2024.

Faustino was the fourth of 14 children born to Mauricio and Pachita (Cruz) Barbosa on February 15, 1930. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School and was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Antonia Fernandez on September 27, 1957 and she passed away in 2007.

He worked for Swift &amp; Company and later retired from the Gas Service Company.

He had 2 children, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild that he dearly loved.

He generously dedicated his time helping with several organizations in Saint Joseph, especially within the Latino community receiving numerous recognitions for his selfless service.

Faith and family were foremost, he was devoted to praying the rosary, attending Saint Patrick’s Church, and Mir House of Prayer. He was also a Communion Minister and volunteered for the Food Pantry. Faust was well known for his inviting conversations, sincere compassion, and infectious smile. He is proceeded in death by his beloved wife Antonia Barbosa, son Damacio “Don” Barbosa, grandson Zachary March, and brothers E.C. (Pelen), Merced, Rico, Jason Barbosa; sisters, Lupe Cathcart, Christina, Torres, Mary Helen White, Ruth (Cuca) Curtin, and Bernie Ceglenski; infants, Robert and Damacio.

He is survived by daughter Elizabeth Barbosa, grandchildren Nicholas Matt (Evelia), Amber Matt (Jim), Noah March, Jaselyn Barbosa, Olivia Barbosa (Kyler), and great grandchildren, Jimena Garcia (Robert), Damian Matt, Gage Matt, Jesse Mason Jr. (Kailey), Kymber Mason, Mia Matt, J March, and great-great-grandchild Violet, brother Jesse Barbosa (Wanda), sister Julia Burris, as well as many dearly loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was born September 15, 1943 in Green Castle, Missouri to Emil and Flossie Ames.

Virginia married Eugene McIntosh in August 1990. He survives of the home.

She worked at Western Water Management for over 20 years. After that, she worked another 30 years in retail at Dillard’s and Macy’s.

Virginia enjoyed antiquing, camping, and spending time at their house by the lake in Warsaw, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary Young; and brother, Ed Ames.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene; son, George Jasper; daughter, Heide Wheaton; two grandchildren; sister, Linda Brasher; and two stepsons, Mike and Steve McIntosh and families.

Kenneth (Kenny) Lee Edie, born on February 3, 1950, in Highland, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on October 13, 2024, in Robinson, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents Louise and Kenneth A. Edie, daughter Jenny Edie, sisters Connie Edie, Brenda Trainer, Kathy Leeper and his brother Gary Edie. He was a devoted husband to Glenda Edie and a loving father to his two sons, Mark and Adam. Kenny was a proud grandfather to Daylon and Jacob, who brought immense joy to his life.

Kenny served honorably in the Army and the National Guard, demonstrating his commitment to his country. He had a successful career as a machinist, where he was respected for his skills and work ethic. In addition to his professional achievements, he contributed to his community by serving in the honor guard and the voluntary fire department, showcasing his dedication to helping others.

Known for his kind and loving nature, Kenny had a remarkable ability to connect with everyone he met. He is survived by his wife Glenda, sons Mark and Adam, grandsons Daylon and Jacob, his brother Ronnie, and sister Mary. Kenny's warm spirit and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Charles Edward Broyles, 62, of Horton, Kansas passed away at the KU Medical in Kansas City, Kansas surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 13th, 2024.

Ed was born on November 3rd, 1961 in Louisville, Kentucky to John and Armanda (Throop) Broyles. He graduated from Salem High School in Salem, Arkansas in the class of 1979. Following graduation Ed joined the Army serving from 1980 to 1986, being stationed in Germany. After receiving his honorable discharge in 1986, he then later continued his work with the military working as a private contractor building generators overseas during Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom for the Air Force bases and various branches of the military. Ed was currently employed by Hiawatha Tire &amp; Lube in Hiawatha, Kansas for the past 8 years working as a tire technician, and operated the onsite service truck.

Ed and wife Karen, were joined in marriage on March 15th, 1997 at Mountain Home, Arkansas. Prior to moving to Horton, Kansas; Ed and Karen had lived in Mountain Home for many years, raising their family.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Lee Broyles. Survivors include: wife, Karen of the home, Brother, Jim (Doni) Broyles of Salem, AR., children: Charlie (Candice) Broyles of Virginia, Raechel Juber of Horton, KS., Shari (Ryan) Wayland of Mountain Home, AR,. Ian (Jordan) Calloway of Holman, WI., Cameron Broyles of Hiawatha, KS., and Chris (Mikayla) Broyles of Mountain Home, AR. Ed was also blessed with the following 16 grandchildren: Mitchell, Paige, Sadie, James, Mya, Seth, Emma, Trent, Gavin, Lucille, LaNora, Rorie, Silas, Keegan, Abel, Willow, and another grandchild on the way.

After a long day of hard work, Ed enjoyed nothing more than coming home to spend time with his growing family and dear friends.

He was a custodian at the Methodist and State Hospitals and Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church.

Ray collected Coca-Cola and John Wayne memorabilia, and was an avid reader and walker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother David; and nephew, Kenneth Thomas Gentry.

He was born July 14, 1961 in St. Joseph to Charles and Marylou (Wood) Larson. Gregg graduated from Savannah High School in 1979, the University of Missouri, and Creighton Law School. He had his own law practice in St. Joseph.

Gregg married Mary Frances Neel. She preceded him in death on April 23, 2006.

He was a member of the Missouri and Nebraska Bar Associations, Kappa Sigma social fraternity, Pony Express Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Tribe of Mic-O-Say (where his name was Least Hippo in Hole), and the Moila Shrine.

Gregg was very active and enjoyed participating in scouting and particularly in Mic-O-Say with his son and all of the tribe. He volunteered many hours over the last 40 years to enhance the scouting experience at Camp Gieger.

He was preceded in death by his wife; and father.

Robert married Sarah Jane Smith on October 31, 1981. She preceded him in death on January 22, 2012.

He worked at Farmland Industries for 39 years.

A quiet man who was a little bit ornery, Robert loved fishing and drinking beer.

Heaven got a little brighter (and louder) when Sarah Smiley Burnham, 48, surrounded by family and friends, was welcomed there on October 10, 2024. Now completely healed, her joy and laughter can once again be heard at the greatest celebration of all. In 2016, Sarah was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer - a battle she won. When she was diagnosed a second time with metastatic breast cancer, she valiantly fought courageously to the very end. But Sarah’s story is much more than cancer.

Sarah was born on October 4, 1976, to Beverly and Dennis Smiley in Sioux City, Iowa. As the “surprise” baby of the family, she was a Daddy’s girl from her first breath and was adored and spoiled by everyone, especially her siblings, Suzy and Matt. Sarah graduated from Columbus Catholic High School in Waterloo, Iowa in 1995. There she was a stand-out athlete and nearly broke the three-point record for girls’ basketball in the state of Iowa. After graduation, Sarah attended Washburn University and worked in the banking and mortgage industries.

Sarah married Andy Burnham and moved to St. Joseph, Mo., where they welcomed son Otis and daughter Brecklyn. Sarah’s life revolved around the kids and their activities and wherever she went, she had circles of friends that were drawn to her kindness, vulnerability and honesty. Sarah loved to hunt, have chats on her patio, navigate life with her neighborhood friends and cheer on the Royals and Chiefs. Her dream was to retire in Destin, Florida, where she treasured her time with family at the beach. On the Fourth of July, Sarah was the biggest kid of all and made sure the fireworks show was unforgettable. Her authenticity and warm spirit were evident in her volunteerism, through meal-trains for friends or when she offered a caring space to listen. She attended Brookdale Church for many years and her gentleness drew friends to her wherever she went.

Sarah’s family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to the many people that showed their love and support through the years while she fought cancer. From her childhood Iowa friends, to her sports Moms group, to her friends that cared for her in the most beautiful way at the very end — thank you. A special thanks to Amy Wetlaufer who coordinated a private flight home to Iowa one last time so Sarah could say goodbye to her Mom and Dad. James D. “Jim” Rogers, 74, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024.

He was born June 21, 1950, in Marysville, Kansas to Glen and Julia (Miller) Rogers.

He graduated from Holton High School in 1968 and later attended Highland Community College.

He served with the United States National Guard in Kansas for six years.

Jim was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in St. Joseph.

He spent 50 years working as a newspaper pressman/foreman, working at Kansas State Collegian, Holton Recorder and later at Manhattan Mercury, where he retired in 2016.

Jim married Susan Ruhnke on September 16, 1972, in Hiawatha, Kansas. She survives of the home.

Jim enjoyed wood working, an interest he inherited from his father. Together they crafted special gifts for family members and also sold these items at craft shows.

He was a model train enthusiast with a collection of model train sets, along with John Deere and other classic tractors and farming equipment.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Julia Rogers; brother-in-law, Jerry Bueker; and sister-in-law, Marcia Janzen.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Susan Rogers; sister, Terry Bueker; sister-in-law, Joan (Don) Peterson; brother-in-law, Jim (Marge) Ruhnke; several nieces, nephews, their families and many friends left to cherish his memory.

She worked as a machine operator for Mead, cashier at Midway, and previously worked for many years as a cosmetologist.

Sharon enjoyed woodworking, crafting, crocheting, bowling, and playing pool. She loved her plants and flowers.

Her family remembers her for being the “best cook ever” and enjoying her home cooked meals. She was also a die-hard Zelda fan and loved gaming.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Winifred Corkins; her son, Jonathan Judkins; and her brother, Stanley Corkins.

She was born May 9, 1959 in St. Joseph to Clifford and Leila (Bootman) Frakes. Pamela grew up in Stewartsville, Missouri, and earned her bachelor’s degree from Missouri Western State University.

Pamela married Kenneth Dean Brown on June 30, 1990. He survives of the home.

She was an excellent cook known for her chicken and noodles. She also enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel and the Chiefs, and going to estate sales. Fall and winter were her favorite seasons, and Pamela loved decorating for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Above all, Pamela was a great mother, wife, sister, and grandmother to many people. She was passionate about her family and they meant everything to her. She definitely left everyplace she went better off than she found it.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Haley Triggs; and siblings, Delmar, Richard and Jeffery Frakes.

Clarence J. Jacobs, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024.

He was born April 18, 1938, to Myrtle (Jacobs) Nussbaum in St. Joseph, Missouri.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force 1955-1959, and on June 24, 1960, he married his sweetheart Sandra McDowell. Bob retired in 2000 after working for 32 years as a maintenance mechanic for Wire Rope Corporation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle and Lloyd Nussbaum; his daughter Patricia Lee Jacobs; his grandson Caleb Graham Smith; and his brother Albert L. Jacobs.

Survivors include his wife; daughter Cynthia A. Smith (Tayne) and son Jefferson L. Jacobs; grandsons Jefferson L. Jacobs II (Catherine), Matthew E. Jacobs (Laura), and Tayne A. William Joe “Bill” Rockey passed away on October 11, 2024, at Good Samaritan Valley Vista in Wamego, KS. Born on December 21, 1944, he was the third child of Oliver Chadleigh and Vinita Frances Sutherland Rockey in Horton, KS.

William Joe “Bill” Rockey passed away on October 11, 2024, at Good Samaritan Valley Vista in Wamego, KS. Born on December 21, 1944, he was the third child of Oliver Chadleigh and Vinita Frances Sutherland Rockey in Horton, KS.Bill grew up in Robinson, KS, and graduated from Robinson High School in 1962. He was actively involved in various sports and clubs during his school years.On November 28, 1964, Bill married Connie Jimeson in Hiawatha, KS. They were excited to celebrate their 60th anniversary this November.Bill proudly served in the US Army, being honorably discharged in December 1967 after his time with the 7th Army in Germany.For 37 years, Bill worked for the KS Gas Service. After retiring, he became a talented benchman for several local jewelry stores, crafting custom pieces. He particularly enjoyed making jewelry for his children and grandchildren, creating special items that they will cherish for years to come. His passion for woodworking also shone through in the beautiful wooden pieces he crafted, each reflecting his dedication and creativity.Bill loved hunting and riding his motorcycle, and he created many wonderful memories with Connie as they traveled all over this beautiful country. In December 2014, they moved to Wamego, KS, to be closer to their kids and enjoy their grandchildren's activities.A dedicated member of the Bethany United Church of Christ, Bill served on the consistory and helped with various projects. He also volunteered as an assistant troop leader for Boy Scout Troop 313 and was involved with the Mic-O-Say tribe at Camp Geiger in St. Joseph, MO. He was a former president of the Brown County Chapter of Quails Unlimited and was affiliated with the American Legion and the Steel Workers Union. Bill was a hard worker, a talented craftsman, and a devoted father and grandfather.He is survived by his wife, Connie; son Shane; daughter Shannon and her husband, Michael Leitch; and grandchildren Darby, MaryKate, and Quinn Leitch, all of Wamego. He is also survived by his siblings: Vinita Thonen, David (Vicki) Rockey, John (Renee) Rockey, Virginia (James) Collins, and Nancy (Gary) Oswald, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be remembered by his brothers-in-law Sam Jimeson and Phil Schaider, and his sister-in-law Merrie Jimeson.A celebration of Bill’s eternal life is planned for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 19, at the Bethany United Church of Christ in Hiawatha with Shane Spangler officiating. The family will visit with friends in fellowship hall following the service.Military honors will be a courtesy of the Brown County Veterans Honor Guard.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Bethany Church Piano Fund sent in care of the funeral home, 124 S 7th St., Hiawatha 66434.Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home until 4:30 Thursday and Friday afternoonsIn honor of Bill’s love for his jeans, the family requests casual attire - preferably denim - for those attending the service.<figure>
