Tracy Kay Thorburn 53, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025 in St. Joseph, MO. She was born April 19, 1972 in St. Joseph, MO, and graduated from Benton High School. She then entered the United States Army and proudly served for six and a half years before being honorably discharged. Tracy was working at Altec industries for the last 20 years.
She married Chris Thorburn on August 30, 2019, who admired and adored her immensely, she was his world. Tracy was an avid Harley Rider, who loved taking trips with her family on her trike. When she started riding solo, she took riding courses along side her son J.R. She loved the long rides around the country especially to Sturgis, actually making this trip by herself this year. Her biggest joy and top priority was her family, sharing rides and memories, she was looking forward to the arrival of her first grandson Kash this coming November. She loved spending time with her children, attending all their sporting, concerts, and school events, most recently she loved going to breakfast with her girls after work. Every holiday was also important to Tracy, once the decorations were down for one, she would start the next. Simply, Tracy was an amazing wife, amazing mother, grandmother and friend, who will be missed by all who knew her.
Tracy was preceded in death by father, Kenneth Lee Hughes and a brother, Tim Hughes. Survivors include husband, Chris Thorburn of the home, her mother, Janet (Steve) Worth of Savannah, MO, four children: Cody Ford, Wilmington, NC, Zarah (Cody) Hullinger, Maysville, MO, Karah Ford, St. Joseph, MO, and Walter Edward Nichols Jr., St. Joseph, MO, step children: Tori (Jimmie) Heinen, Bedford, IA, Christine (Rocky) Hancock, Martinsville, MO, and Samantha (Colby) Millslagle, Algona, IA. and one grand child on the way, expected in early November, as well as several other step grandchildren, her siblings are; Jerry Hughes, Kenny (Pam) Hughes, Becky (David) Rehm, Kimberly (Gary) Roberts, and Rick Hughes.
The family will receive friends from 5- 8:00 PM on Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Inurnment with full military honors will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, October 10, 2025 at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, leaving the Rupp Funeral Home in procession at 10:00 am Friday. Memorials are requested to the Patriot Guard.
