Russell C. Myjak, age 58, a current resident of Atchison, Kansas, died Monday, September 29, 2025, at his home with family by his side.
Russ was born on September 3, 1967, in Richland, WA, the son of the late Raymond Myjak and Mary Piccolo Myjak. He graduated from Kamiakin High School in Kennewick, WA before moving away from the area to attend college at Seattle University and later Stanford.
Russ was a software engineer at Intel for 34 years until he retired last September. In high school, he enjoyed programming an early IBM PC that his father bought for the family. He created hundreds of programs including planetary motion simulations, a Spanish vocabulary quiz, a Pac-Man clone, and a calligraphy design program. The skills he developed then proved very useful to his future career, where he was known as the “go to guy” for people with software and scripting issues.
A big hobby was model trains, which his grandfather introduced him to. He enjoyed making model railroad layouts with both his brother and his sons. At his old home in Oregon, he even built an outdoor railroad with their help. This railroad was probably the most positively-remarked-upon feature of the home. :)
Russ also loved organ music and was a proficient organist. When he was 15, and a competent pianist, his pastor pulled him aside and told him he was now going to play organ. He then gave Russ introductory lessons, which Russ built on with a class and with much practice. He shared his love for organ music and sacred music by volunteering to play for Mass at various parishes for over 35 years.
Russ and his family relocated to Atchison, Kansas, in 2020, and have been members of St. Benedict Parish ever since.
He married Suchitra Krishnan on May 15, 1993, in Santa Clara, CA, and they have shared thirty-two years together, enjoying life and raising their family. Russ is survived by his wife, Suchi Myjak; three sons, John Myjak, Matthew Myjak and James Myjak; a brother, Mitchell (Nicole) Myjak, of Richland, WA; and a sister, Sr. Mirjana Myjak, MC, of Pereira, Colombia.
Mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Church, con-celebrated by Rev. Jeremy Heppler, OSB and Rev. Jay Kythe, OSB. A rosary will begin at 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the Requiem Mass. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
