Roy Lee “Bull” Cockriel, 59, of Edgerton, MO passed away July 27, 2024, at his home.

Roy Lee was born on February 13, 1965, in Smithville, MO. He grew up in the area with his family and was the youngest son of Larry and Norma (Buckler) Cockriel. He graduated from North Platte High School in 1983.

Roy Lee was a gentle giant showing endless love to his family and friends. His greatest accomplishment later in life was being caretaker to his mother. The pride and joy he took through normal days was working outside keeping the yard manicured, organization of everything in the garage with a little added flower work. Then moving inside of the home, he also enjoyed those jobs like cleaning, cooking, shopping, and with the approved of Mom, some decorating. I guess you could call him “Mr. Meticulous”.

As we say “Goodbye” to our father, son, brother, uncle and friend remember this “Gentle Giant’s” smile, laughter, and great kindness he showed to all that loved and knew him.

Roy Lee was preceded in death by his son Zachary Michael Cockriel and his father Larry Cockriel.

He is survived by his mother Norma Cockriel of the home; two brothers Richard Cockriel and Randy Cockriel; sister Lori (Spencer) Blankenship; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Larry Don Hartell, 77, of St. Jospeh, MO passed away July 26, 2024.

He was born September 25, 1946, to Ronald and Maude Rice (Dale) Hartell in St. Jospeh, MO. Larry grew up in Plattsburg, MO and in 1964, he graduated from Plattsburg High School. Larry attended UMKC and later attended Seminary School.

Larry was a pharmacist for over 50 years and retired from Rogers Pharmacy in St. Jospeh, MO. He also served as a minister, serving several congregations in the area.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Hartell; his parents Ronald and Maude Hartell; his sister Marylyn Dean and his brother Ronald D. Hartell.

Larry is survived by daughter Lisa Hartell Holden; son Brian Hartell; grandchildren Steven Holden, Rachel Bodnar, and Eli Hartell; sister Dorothy Silvius; brother Lowell Hartell; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation: 3:00-6:00 p.m. Thursday, August 1st at Grace Calvary Chapel, St. Joseph, MO. Private Family Graveside service will be held later.

Andrew Michael Stephens, 33, passed away July 23, 2024, at his residence. He was born on February 5, 1991, in Kansas City, MO, the middle of three sons of Mark Stephens and Teri (Treaster) Elton.

He was a strong and caring man who loved his family and friends dearly. His greatest enjoyment was spending time outdoors sipping his favorite Lagunitas beer.

As a kid, Andrew was well known as a skilled boy scout and for his amazing derby car building capabilities. His talent was unmatched. Andrew learned self-reliance through a variety of outdoor activities that included deer hunting. He was loyal, helpful, brave and respectful and carried what he learned into adulthood.

Andrew was a Marine Corps Veteran of the U.S. War in Afghanistan, having served from 2009 to 2013, with overseas duty. He attained the rank of Corporal and flew many flight missions on the V-22 Osprey.

He had a life-long love for fishing, boating, and spending time on the river surrounded by nature. Andrew was passionate about experiencing the outdoors, and spent a lot of time hiking, backpacking, canoeing, kayaking and camping across the country with his brothers, family and friends. Andrew was an expert arborist and excelled at all things tree work related.

He took extreme pride in his beloved truck. He was in his element during the many hours he spent working on and maintaining its condition.

Although a less than average life span, Andrew did not live an average life. He was a jack of all trades, learned what he wanted to learn, fixed what he wanted to fix and loved helping others. There was nothing he couldn’t do, from simple repairs to being an airplane mechanic. He often went out of his way to assist friends and family with projects where he could lend a hand. Andrew was the guy you wanted in your corner and there are many out there who will feel his absence.

He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them- and if you knew him, you knew it.

He was preceded in death by his father Mark Stephens and his grandparents.

Survived by his mother Teri Elton; his brothers Steven Stephens and Daniel Stephens; aunts and uncles Nancy Hickman, Jean and Dick Harris, Debby and Donni Reece Larry, Cheryl Treaster, Cheri, Steve, Greg, John and Tracy; numerous cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Alice Ward, 85, of Kansas City, MO passed away, July 26, 2024.

She was born on November 22, 1938 to Lloyd and Evelyn (Holt) Self in Henryetta, OK. She graduated from Liberty High School in Brentwood, CA. Alice graduated from Missouri Western State College and also received her master’s degree in education from UMKC.

On October 4, 1960 she was united in marriage to B. Robert Ward. After their marriage they lived in the North Kansas City area where they made their home. Her husband, Robert, preceded her in death on August 24, 2011.

Alice was a teacher at Linden West Elementary until she retired in 1998. She loved gardening, quilting, animals and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Helen Montes, Sharron Vincent, Robert Self, Jerry Self, and Jimmie Self.

Alice is survived by her children, G. Robert Ward, Melinda Ward, and Matthew (Mindy) Ward; grandchildren, Patrick Ward and Dani Ward; sisters, Sondra (Johnny) Barnett and Jane Oliver; her aunt and best friend, Gladys Chastain; several nieces and nephews, many cousins and friends.

Gwendolyn K Garrison, age 76, passed away surrounded by her family on July 26, 2024 at the Medicalodge of Atchison.

Gwen was born in Atchison, Kansas on October 17, 1947. She attended Atchison public schools graduating in 1965 from Atchison High School. She was a member of the debate team in High School, which served her well throughout her life as she had the upper hand in most arguments! After high school she started her collegiate education at Emporia State College and transferred her sophomore year to Mount Saint Scholastica College. In 1970 she was crowned Miss Kansas for the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C. Gwen worked at Tonsing’s Book Store, Commerce Investment, St. Francis Academy in the Admissions Office and Snowden Mize Wholesale Drug Company, where she met her husband, John. They dated for 3-4 years and then married on Friday August 13th, 1971. And what a ride! It would have been 53 years come August.

Gwen had music in her bones from a young age. It started with the church choir at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, having many solo performances. And when she sang ‘O Holy Night’ in what was to become a ritual at Christmas Eve service, it was magical. Gwen played the lead role in many of the musicals performed at AHS and was also in the Top 30 Chorus. In her adult life she found Sweet Adelines and it became her true passion. She sang for many years with the Saint Joseph Show Chorus. She was also a member of quartets, Synergy and Opus IV. She served in several leadership roles including, Midwest Plains Region 7 Board of Directors, Region 7 Regional Management Team, and President of the Saint Joseph Show Chorus for several years. Gwen received Region 7’s Garee Roger’s Award, which is a lifetime achievement award and the Saint Joseph Sweet Adeline of the year award. Gwen was a HUGE Kansas City Chiefs and KU fan. She knew all the players and coaches and knew what everyone should be doing and how they should be doing it. If you were watching the game with Gwen you’d better buckle up! She loved to travel and won a trip for she and John to Australia. The pair also enjoyed many trips with Sweet Adeline competitions. She particularly enjoyed cruises and Hawaii.

Gwen is survived by her husband John Garrison, her brothers, Ron (Carolyn) Kuhn, Dennis (Sharon) Kuhn, sister, Debbie Kuhn (Pamela Rabin), and sister in-law Karen Kuhn. She is preceded in death by both of her parents and brother Keith Kuhn. Gwen loved her family and will be missed by all.

Jeannie Gail Barboza, 73, of Agency, MO passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Friday July 26, 2024. &nbsp;She was born April 4, 1951 to Leonard and Louanne (Rhoades) Furst. &nbsp;She married Robert Barboza on June 26, 1971. Married 53 years, Jeannie and Bob created a loving life and family.

Jeannie was a stay-at-home mom for many years while also helping her father in the insurance business and working at the Rosendale Lumber Yard as a bookkeeper part time. Later she became a full-time cook for the North Andrew School District, serving meals for many years. She ended her career by working at Walmart and retiring as a Department Manager.

Some of Jeannie’s favorite times and memories were when she was with her family and friends. Many evenings were spent around bonfires roasting hotdogs and marshmallows, sitting in the stands watching her children and their classmates play sports, having the house full of laughing children and friends, and during summer vacations when the family would travel and spend time together.

Jeannie was a remarkable seamstress, creating and altering many wedding and prom dresses for her daughter, granddaughters and nieces. She enjoyed making homemade Halloween costumes for her grandchildren and seeing their faces light up when they were done. &nbsp;She loved to visit her local library where mysteries were her favorite books of choice and crossword puzzles and word searches kept her mind sharp. Swimming was her favorite exercise and Pepsi was always her preferred drink.

Most of all Jeannie loved her family and friends. &nbsp;She always had a welcoming smile, offered a helping hand, and was a rock of support for those in need. &nbsp;

Those left to carry on her legacy of kindness, friendship and service include her husband, Bob; daughter, Bobbie (Scott) Starmer of Harvey, IA; son, Neil (Danelle) Barboza of Agency, MO; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sister Linda (Randy) Atkins of Rosendale, MO; her brother Greg (Pat) Furst, of Rosendale MO; and several nieces and nephews. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Louanne Furst.

Jeannie Gail Barboza 1951 - 2024

Connie Marie (Purcell) Fattig went to be with Jesus on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at age 76, after battling Parkinson’s Disease for a few years. She was born March 5, 1948 to Hiram and Dorothy Purcell, who proceeded her in death.

On March 11, 1966, she married her high school sweetheart, Gerald Fattig. He survives her at home. During this 58-year marriage, they raised three children.&nbsp;Connie attended Lafayette High School. Many years later, she decided to pursue her high school diploma and graduated from South Park Christian Academy in 1996. Connie retired from the school district, after nearly 20 years as a cook at Central High School.

Connie became a born-again Christian in 1971. For more that fifty years, she served God and her church in many capacities. Connie also enjoyed many crafts, with sewing being her favorite. She spent many hours making things for her loved ones, and she especially loved doing crafts with all her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Family Worship Center 12293 County Rd 438 (John Glen Road), Country Club, MO 64505. Family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the church. Chaplain Kyle Harrison will officiate.

Connie Marie (Purcell) Fattig went to be with Jesus on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at age 76, after battling Parkinson’s Disease for a few years. She was born March 5, 1948 to Hiram and Dorothy Purcell, who proceeded her in death.On March 11, 1966, she married her high school sweetheart, Gerald Fattig. He survives her at home. During this 58-year marriage, they raised three children.&nbsp;Connie attended Lafayette High School. Many years later, she decided to pursue her high school diploma and graduated from South Park Christian Academy in 1996. Connie retired from the school district, after nearly 20 years as a cook at Central High School.Connie became a born-again Christian in 1971. For more that fifty years, she served God and her church in many capacities. Connie also enjoyed many crafts, with sewing being her favorite. Rodney Marion Parker, 71, of Troy, Kansas passed away on July 26th, 2024 at Medicalodge in Atchison, Kansas.

Rodney was born on September 9th 1952 in St. Joseph to the late Ray and Virginia (Hanlin) Parker. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Troy, Kansas where he learned of salvation and was baptized into Christ with all of his family on the same day. Rodney graduated from Troy High School in 1970 and went on to receive his Associates in Arts degree from Highland Community College in 1972. &nbsp;

His career always centered around the sale of auto parts. First he worked in the family owned business of Parker Auto Supply and then moved on to other retail auto parts stores.

Hobbies throughout his life included roller skating, fishing, nostalgia, working on computers &nbsp;and classic car knowledge.

He is survived by his brother, Ray Parker of Shawnee Mission, Kansas and his sister, Sherry (Bill) Duley of Rolla, Missouri. Other survivors include a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM, Monday July 29th at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph, Missouri. A graveside service will follow in the Ashland Cemetery. Family and friends are all encouraged to attend either or both services.

Mary Katherine (Reagan) Fulton, 93, St. Joseph, MO passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024.

Mary was born April 24, 1931, in St. Joseph, MO, to Olive E. Ramsel and Tom Reagan. She graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1949.

On May 21, 1950, she married Zell Wayman Fulton of St. Joseph. She was proud to work for over 50 years with Boehring Ingelheim and its predecessors.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Zell Wayman Fulton, her parents and one grandson Todd Leslie Fulton.

Survivors include son, Terry Leslie Fulton and his wife Cheryl of St. Joseph; daughter, Zella Katherine Harness and her husband Brian of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Services will be Friday, August 2, 2024 at 10:00 am at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel with David Majia officiating. Burial will follow at High Ridge Cemetery in Stanberry, MO. The family will receive friends Thursday, August &nbsp;1, 2024 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

King City, Missouri….JoElla (DeFreece) Gilbert of King City, MO passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Parnell, MO on July 19, 1938 to the late Goldie Mae (Prather) and Henry DeFreece and was one of thirteen children. She was born and raised in the Parnell area, attended Lafayette High School for three years and then moved to Ravenwood where she graduated from Ravenwood High School on May 10, 1956.&nbsp;

After high school, JoElla began working for Hartford Insurance with the St. Joseph Livestock Commission at the stockyards of St. Joseph, MO and continued working there until 1965. During that time she had the pleasure of meeting her husband, Dean Gilbert, a farmer in the Pleasant Hill area whom she wed on October 14, 1961. After they married, JoElla joined her husband on the farm and continued to make their business endeavors and farm successful. She did whatever it took to keep the family farm and business running while raising three children. She cooked daily meals for any number of people her husband brought in from the farm, kept books, and carried the mail while they owned a mail truck business. Once her children were older, she began working outside of the home for SSM In Home Health and continued working there for over 15 years. Whether it was helping her husband, raising her children or taking care of the elderly, JoElla was always a caretaker at heart. She always made sure everyone was okay, well fed and she made sure the candy jar was full.&nbsp;&nbsp;

JoElla’s main passion was for her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy was watching them play sports and grow up. You could always count on her to be at every game and fortunately when she was stuck at home, she could enjoy them through the live streaming.&nbsp;

Anyone who knew JoElla knew her love and passion for sports. Not only did she like watching sports, she grew up playing them, along with her siblings. She played softball as a first baseman for the Schlitz softball team and the St. Joe Beacons during the 60’s and was even able to go to state. In the late 80’s she put together two family slow pitch teams, the Silver Bullets for the older ones, and the Sluggers for the younger ones, where she coached and showed her love for the game. In the late 90’s she played in many Good Life Games, recruiting all of her friends and family who were over 50. Softball was her favorite, but she also played basketball for the YMCA. JoElla earned numerous awards and medals for playing sports throughout her life and wanted that for any young athlete. She loved to talk about or watch any kind of sporting event or be a part of it somehow whether it was on TV, with her family or within her community. If it was a competitive sport, JoElla enjoyed it.&nbsp;

In addition to her parents, JoElla was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, sisters Virginia Perkins, Jeanette DeFreece, and Marilyn Runde. She is survived by her children Darin Gilbert, Toby and Anita Gilbert, and Brooke and Sean McKinnon who are all of King City. Her grandchildren, Shae and Devin Breckenridge, Braden Gilbert, Carleen Gilbert, Wylie McKinnon and Lyla McKinnon. Her siblings Mona Rogers, Helen Beal, Kathryn Langley, Jimmy DeFreece, Jack DeFreece, David DeFreece, Vickie Kling, Debbie Busby, and Sharon DeFreece and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 ~ 8:00 p.m. with Rosary starting at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Turner Family Funeral Home in Maysville.

Dortha Marie Fletchall, 83, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024.

She was born on June 14, 1941, to Earl and Doris (Lawson) Wilfong in Mound City, Missouri.

She was united in marriage to Virgil L. Fletchall on March 10, 1962.

Dortha was a proud wife and homemaker, providing a loving environment for their four children. Making memories with her family was her favorite pastime, and she loved to shop and go out for lunch with her daughters.

She enjoyed camping, playing cards, crossword puzzles, reading, music, sewing, and quilting. Dortha also had a collection of baby dolls that she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Darlene Budine, Gerald “Butch” Wilson, Joyce Carver, and Winston Wilson; and her son-in-law, Mike Nolen.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Virgil Fletchall; children, Donald Fletchall (Alicia), Virginia Griffith (Mark), Carla Nolen and Becky Ruoff (Randy); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will continue to cherish their special memories of Dortha’s life.

Ruth M. Martin, 104, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024.

She was born on August 4, 1919, to Thomas and Bessie (Fischer) Krejci in Crete, Nebraska.

She graduated from Crete High School in 1937.

Ruth married Edgar E. Martin on August 16, 1942, in Chula Vista, California. During World War II, she worked at an airplane factory while in California. Her husband was stationed in San Angelo, Texas, for a time, and then their family relocated to St. Joseph, Missouri. They shared 56 years together before Edgar passed away in 1998.

During her lifetime, Ruth was an active member of various organizations. She was active in the Lindberg and Lafayette PTA, even serving as president, a Girl Scout leader, a board member of the St. Joseph Rainbow for Girls Assembly #12, member of the Grand Cross of Color, member and past president of the Social Order of Beauceants, and for 77 years she was a member of Areme Chapter OES; serving as worthy matron twice, district deputy grand matron and grand representative to Bolivia.

Ruth was of Christian faith and belonged to Marvin McMurry United Methodist Church until the doors were closed. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, helped with vacation bible school and served as alter guild president. She was also active in Church Women United.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Bessie; beloved husband, Edgar; brother, Rudolph Krejci; and sister, Dorothy Bozak.

Survivors include her daughters, Carol Duke (Larry) of Platte City, MO and Sandra Mann (Gary) of San Antonio, TX; three grandchildren, Paul Simms of LaDue, MO, Stacey Culpepper (Joel) of Round Rock, TX, and Sheryl Crump (Winston) of San Antonio, TX; five great-grandsons, Trey Simms, Collin Simms, Harrison King, Griffin Crump and Max Crump; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Katie was born November 17, 1985, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the daughter of Brian L. Winans-Smith and Velora “Jeannie” Matt.&nbsp;

As a child she enjoyed hunting and fishing. Katie was a sports fan and loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs. Above all else she loved her children and spending time with her family.&nbsp;

Survivors include her children, Danikqua Thomas, Rodney Kennerly, Jr., Jayden Kennerly, Ty’Lee Thomas, Ta’Vion Thomas, her father Brian Winans-Smith, her mother, Velora Matt, and her sisters, Crystal Smith, April Robinson and Heidi Smith.

Debra Kaye Penick, 62, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

She was born August 11, 1961 in Paola, Kansas to Arthur and Ruth (Maynard) Austin. She grew up in Paola, then attended college in Kirksville, Missouri, where she met Randy Lee Penick. They married on July 16, 1982.

Debra lived and raised her children in Hawaii and California while Randy was stationed there in the Navy. They later moved to St. Joseph to be near family.

She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love for her family.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Maynard.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Randy; children, Ryan, Amanda and Cassandra Penick; granddaughter, Maddie Penick; father and stepmother, Arthur and Betty Austin; siblings, Ken Austin (Barbara), Diane DeGrado (John), and Denise French (John); other extended family and friends; and her beloved dog, Princess.

Barbara was born May 2, 1932, in Rushville, Missouri, the daughter of Arthur &amp; Nora (Jones) Cummings. She was married to Robert Henning, and he preceded her in death on December 21, 2005. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and embroidery.

She is survived by her sons; Gary Keling (Pamela Williams), Robert (Barbara) Keling, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, brother, Gene Cummings.

     She was born October 24, 1940 in rural Gentry County, Missouri the daughter of Edwin and Maxine (Gotschell) Toombs.

     On April 19, 1957, she married Harlen Stegman in Union Star, MO.  

     Carolyn became a License Practical Nurse and served as Administrator for King City Manor.  She later worked at Our Lady of Rickenbach in Clyde, MO.  Carolyn was a member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Berlin, MO, Opportunity Workshop Board and Grand River Ambulance Board.  She loved camping and taking her grandchildren to the beach.  She was a selfless servant.  Watching Hallmark movies was one of her favorite past times.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Leisa Bryson and two sisters, Marilyn Propheter and Sherry Compton.

John "Rocky" Lloyd Townsend, 80, Platte City, Missouri; passed away Monday, July 22, 2024.

John &nbsp;was born on November 22, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a 1962 graduate of North Andrew High School.

Mr. Townsend, a Military Veteran, proudly served his country for over twenty years, and retired as an E-6 Tech Sergeant.

John was a talented and skilled truck mechanic for over forty-three years and retired from ABF Truck Lines after twenty-three years of dedicated service.&nbsp;

Mr. Townsend was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 222, and a faithful member of the First Nodaway Church Savannah. John was an avid baseball and softball player. He not only enjoyed playing for numerous years but also enjoyed coaching his sons and grandchildren as well. They shared many fond memories on the ball field together.

John married Jima Kunels on September 26, 1974 in St. Joseph, Missouri, they were looking forward to celebrating their upcoming 50th Wedding Anniversary in September.

John &nbsp;is survived by his wife, Jima, of the home; two sons, Russell Townsend (Trisha) and Chad Townsend (Shephathiah); five grandchildren, Cheyenne, Dakota, Jordan, Payton and Grayson; sister, Cathy Townsend; nieces and nephew, Kristen, Nicholas and Hannah.

Stewartsville, Missouri……Barbara Don Antle, age 90, was born June 7, 1934, in DeKalb County, Missouri the daughter of Forest Ralph and Gletha Wilma (Norris) Tyer and passed away July 22, 2024, with her family at her side.

Barbara and Robert “Bob” Duane Antle were united in marriage on May 24, 1958, in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, at Reverend Miller’s home. To this union three children were born. 

Barbara was a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University with a master’s degree in Elementary Education and she was proud to be a Bearcat. She spent most of her life as an educator in the St. Joseph School District. She was a lifelong member of Culbertson Chapel United Methodist Church where she faithfully played the organ. Barbara was an avid reader and a member of MRTA and Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority. Her true love was her family. She loved attending all the events of the children and grandchildren.&nbsp;

Survivors include her loving husband, Bob, of 66 years; three children, Mark (Michele) Antle, Scott (Lisa) Antle, and Diana (Kevin) Grier; seven grandchildren, Megan (Brian) Free, Myles (Maggie) Antle, Drew (Mallory) Antle, Tyler (Georganna) Antle, Blake Antle, Shane Grier, and Haley Grier; and nine great-grandchildren.

Jeremy Honeycutt, 42, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, 20, 2024, in Wentzville, Missouri.

He was born on October 26, 1981, in St. Joseph, Missouri to parents Jim and Carole Honeycutt.

He was a graduate of Central High School and later graduated from Missouri Western University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science.

Jeremy began a career with HQ Mobile Installations as a project manager in Webster, Texas. His work allowed him to travel, which he loved.

Generous to a fault, Jeremy was a Christian who was described by his friends as the best person they knew. As a member of the Huffman United Methodist Church, Jeremy began serving the radio ministry at the age of 15. He continued serving Huffman as a member of the sound team for over 15 years.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Helen and Olin Matter, and Clarence and Dorothy Honeycutt; the love of his life, Brooke McKinney; and his beloved dog, Tucker.

Survivors include his parents, Jim and Carole, his sister, Christy Shalz (Todd); niece and nephew, Allie and Carter Shalz; uncles, Bob Matter (Sandra) and Tom Matter (Marcia); aunt, Mary White (Mark); and numerous cousins and other family members who will cherish his memory.

Paul A.Cluck Sr. 76, of Troy, Kansas passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at his home. He was born July 29, 1947 in Troy, KS, son of Josephine and Clarence Cluck. 

He married Beverly Smith on September 1, 1970 in Fanning, KS . Paul was a collector of coins, enjoyed watching westerns and working on the farm, especially riding horses, working calves and with tractors. He was a hard worker and enjoyed helping others. Most of all, he was a family man and loved his family. 

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dale, Clarence Jr. and Dean Cluck and granddaughter Marissia Teague. 

Survivors include wife, Beverly Cluck of the home, children, Mary (David) Teague,  of Troy, KS, Paul Jr. (Ruth) Cluck of Highland, KS and son, James (Terra) Cluck of Troy, KS, brothers, George T. Cluck of Springfield, MO and Roger Cluck of Wathena, KS, sisters, Alice Clary of Troy, KS and Mabel Springs, of St. Joseph. 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was born June 21, 1948, in Bethany, Missouri, the first child and only son of James Eldon and Anna May (McCollum) Gillespie. He died July 24, 2024.

Jim graduated from King City High School in 1966 and attended CMSU. After serving four years in the US Navy, he graduated from Missouri Western State College with a business degree. Over the following years, he worked for King City Feed and Grain Elevator, the King City school district, C. Pettijohn Ford Mercury, J.J. Wayman Lawn, Todd’s Tire Service, Archer Lawn Service, and Fairview Golf Course.

Jim was both an avid golfer and bowler, achieving induction into The St Joseph Bowling Hall of Fame in 1994. He was a voracious reader and a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs &amp; the St. Louis Cardinals—and the KC Royals when not playing the Cards. He could watch a game on TV at the same time he read a book and know what happened in both. Jim also enjoyed a game of poker with good friends and looked forward to card games and triple Yahtzee with family.

He is survived by his significant other, Tammy Power; sisters, Karen Gillespie of Marietta, GA, Kathy Darnell of King City, Terri Gillespie of Independence, and Judy (Dennis) Chambers of Savannah; nephews, Jordan (Alacey Monconduit) Chambers and Brett (Katy Herman) Chambers and niece, Shelby Dudley; grand-nephew, AJ Herman and grand-nieces, Bristol and Saylor Dudley; and numerous cousins and a multitude of great friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, former wife, Sharon Gillespie, nephew, Austin Chambers, and brother-in-law, John Tompkins.

He was of the Methodist faith. Per his request, there will be no services.

Jim also enjoyed a game of poker with good friends and looked forward to card games and triple Yahtzee with family.He is survived by his significant other, Tammy Power; sisters, Karen Gillespie of Marietta, GA, Kathy Darnell of King City, Terri Gillespie of Independence, and Judy (Dennis) Chambers of Savannah; nephews, Jordan (Alacey Monconduit) Chambers and Brett (Katy Herman) Chambers and niece, Shelby Dudley; grand-nephew, AJ Herman and grand-nieces, Bristol and Saylor Dudley; and numerous cousins and a multitude of great friends.He was predeceased by his parents, former wife, Sharon Gillespie, nephew, Austin Chambers, and brother-in-law, John Tompkins.He was of the Methodist faith. Per his request, there will be no services.

He was born on August 12, 1964, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Larry I and Marie (Greene) Schussler.

Larry was a member of Grace Baptist Church and served as an alderman for the city of Plattsburg, Missouri. He loved the country lifestyle away from the bustle of city life.

He was also a very giving person, often dedicating his time to helping others and doing charitable work.He was preceded in death by his parents and his children, Anthony Lewis and Catrina Lynn.Survivors include his children, Larry J. Schussler III and Merynda Schussler; his grandchildren, Emmet Michael, Elijah Mason, Ezra Miles and Oliver Jordan; and his siblings, Stacie Jones, Wesley Schussler, Teresa Young, and Amber Mahoney.Natural Farewell under the direction of Meierhoffer Funeral Home &amp; Crematory.
