Henry "Jay" Ehart III April 26, 1959-September 21, 2025

Henry John “Jay” Ehart III was born in Winchester, KS on April 26, 1959 to Henry J. Ehart Jr. and Mildred Mae Ehart (Dobbs). He grew up on his parents' farm in Springdale with his siblings, where he learned the value of hard work. Jay attended Jarbalo Elementary where his Aunt Dorothy was his teacher and then went on to attend Tonganoxie High School. He began his career at Sunshine Biscuit in 1989 where he carried many titles and responsibilities until his retirement in 2014.

Jay had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a firearms enthusiast and had an affinity for anything with a motor. However, his life truly started when he met Melissa A. Wright in 1998! She was his one true love and they united that love through marriage in 2002. They shared their life together enjoying retirement in Colorado until Melissa’s untimely passing in 2017.

He returned to Kansas where he eventually purchased the same home that his sister, Sharon, once lived in many years ago. He lived in his Easton, KS residency until he was called home to the Lord on September 21, 2025.

Jay is survived by his children: Ashli Garbrandt of Celina, TX, Candace (Jon) Hill of Pittsburg, KS and Jessie (Jeramie) Greathouse of Gladstone, MO; his grandchildren: Ford, Charlie and Natalie; his brother: Michael (Marcia) Ehart of Prim, AR; his nephews and nieces: Kris Plum, Scott Plum, Jon (Frances) Plum and Rachel (Shaun) O’Neil; plus many great nieces and nephews, extended family and life-long friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife: Melissa Ehart; his parents: Mildred and Henry Ehart; his sister: Sharon Plum and his nephew: Russell “Rusty” Ehart Jr.

Services will be held on October 25, 2025 at Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee St. Leavenworth, KS 66048. Visitation will be from 10am-11am, funeral at 11am with a graveside service immediately following at Mount Muncie Cemetery, where he will be rejoined eternally with Melissa.
