Brian Larry Williams, 67 of rural Stewartsvile, MO went to be with the Lord on December 13, 2024 surrounded by his loving family, after a 4 year battle with glioblastoma. Brian was born on September 30, 1957 to Larry Park and Mary Alice (Hickman) Williams in St. Joseph, MO. He grew up on the family farm in rural Stewartsville. Brian was a member of Bethany Christian Church growing up. Brian attended school in Gower, graduating from East Buchanan High School in 1976. He went on to attend Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, MO. It was at Central that he met his future wife, Becky Jarrell, also a student. Brian and Becky were united in marriage on August 5, 1978 in Kansas City. Brian graduated from Central Christian College on May 8, 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry. In August of 1981 Brian and Becky welcomed their only child, Trisha, into the world. Brian then went on to attend Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, graduating on May 31, 1986 with a Masters of Divinity in Pastoral Care and Counseling. Brian started his ministry serving at several small congregations, including Liberty Christian Church, Cairo, MO, Blue Springs Christian Church, Blue Springs, MO and First Christian Church of Pattonsburg, MO. In September of 1987 Brian started his full time ministry at Community Christian Church in St. Joseph. Brian faithfully served the congregation at Community for over 34 years before retiring due to his health. Along with his role as a full time minister, Brian was a police chaplain with the St. Joseph Police Department. He was also a licensed funeral director for the state of Missouri, serving part time at several area funeral homes, primarily Clark-Sampson in St. Joseph.

Brian was fiercely dedicated to his family and was a devoted son to Larry and Mary. He enjoyed a close relationship with his sister Tammy, as well as his many cousins and extended family growing up. Brian and Becky were the perfect team, serving together in all aspects of the ministry. Beck was always there cheering him on and supporting him in all aspects of his life, and being a devoted care-giver when his health failed. Brian took the greatest pride in being a dad and grandpa. His daughter, Trisha, he would say, was the “apple of her ole dads eye” and they were the best of friends. When he became a grandpa to Natalya, Parker and Jace, that was his favorite role yet. He was the best Papa who adored spending any adventure he could find with his 3 grandkids, and he found a lot. Brian had a servants heart and spent his whole life serving others, often going above and beyond to assist anyone with their physical or spiritual needs. He loved sports, especially loved attending Mizzou football and basketball games over the years with friends and family. He loved vacationing to the mountains, specifically Bear Tooth Pass, and to the beach on South Padre Island. He enjoyed countless shared meals with great friends, and cherished time spent on the family farm. Brian will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but we rejoice that he is now with his Savior. 2 Timothy 4:7- I have fought the fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Brian is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Becky; daughter, Trisha Sprague and son-in-law Ryan; 3 grandchildren, Natalya, Parker and Jace Sprague: parents, Larry and Mary Williams; mother-in-law, Loretta Jarrell; sister, Tammy Blair; nieces Joelle Blair and Kaitlin Bullmaster and husband, Eddie; great niece, Kinsley Bullmaster, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Park and Georgia Williams and Theron and Mildred Hickman; father-in-law, Dean Jarrell; and brother-in-law, Bart Blair.

The family would like to thank the exceptional care provided by Mosaic Life Care Hospice, specifically Cynthia, Taylor and Laurie.

Brian Larry Williams 1957 - 2024

Kenneth A. Winder, 73, of Troy, Kansas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 15, 2024, surrounded by family at the Maple Heights Nursing &amp; Rehabilitation Center.

Kenneth was born on September 16, 1951, in Troy, Kansas to John David and Leora Louise (Holcomb) Winder. He preferred to be called Ken but never complained at any name people gave him, just as long as he wasn’t called late to supper. &nbsp;

He was a member of the Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church, St. Joseph, Missouri and a former member of the First Baptist Church, Troy, Kansas, where he was baptized on December 31, 1961. He was a deacon at both churches, for 10 years and 11 ½ years, respectively. Kenny graduated Troy High School in 1969 and earned his BS degree in mathematics from Missouri Western, with a brief career in education, then moved on. He worked at Pascoe Building Systems, and when they closed in Wathena, he began his stint at Artcrafts and Engraving. From there he went to Oxley Printing and NPG in the prepress department, until that department was eliminated. He wasn’t old enough to retire, so he became a para at Troy Grade School for Doniphan County Special Education, where he was known as Mr. Ken. For several years, he also was the janitor for First Baptist and Doniphan County Home Health in Troy. Kenny retired in May of 2017. In May of 2018 he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, and an autoimmune, Sjogren’s. He handled both with much grace and he never complained. Kenny loved nature and God’s creation, and he was a good steward of both. He especially loved God’s word and was a student of it. He lived his life for Jesus, and always did his work, as unto the Lord. &nbsp;God first, family and friends second, and Kenny always came last. He took painting classes in 1983, where he developed a love for painting. &nbsp;He painted various pictures for family and friends.

Kenny married Virginia Winkel on September 6, 1981, in Troy, Kansas. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Winder and Leora Winder Trant, stepfather, Chester Trant, mother and father in -law, Don and Anna Marie Winkel, brothers, Robert and James Winder and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gene Shelton, Barbara Winder, Mary and John Marriott, Mike Hegarty and a niece, Mendi Marriott.

Norma Gertrude Dame, 92, formerly of Rushville, Mo died on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the Atchison Medicalodge.

Norma Gertrude Zabel was born on May 21, 1932, in Atchison, KS, the daughter of Walter and Elizabeth (Tull) Zabel. She attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and Atchison High School. Norma worked many different places since the age of 13 including the former Hilligoss Greenhouse, Hilligoss Grocery Store, Kresge’s, Fitz Overall Factory, Whitaker Cable Co, St. Joseph, MO and then Saunders Mop Factory for over thirty years retiring in 2002, as a serger. Norma was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church serving as a member of Mary’s Circle, Stephen’s Ministry, as a Kennedy Evangelism Caller, taught Sunday School for many years, and served on the Altar Guild. She was also a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She was married to Bernard Pyles on Dec. 5, 1948. Mr. Pyles preceded her in death in July 1969. She was later married to William “Bill” Dame for 20 years before they were divorced. Survivors include a son Paul (Tammy) Pyles Rushville, MO, four stepchildren Rick Dame, Atchison, Ronnie Dame, Omaha, NE, Kathy Elias, and Janet Chapman both of Atchison, KS, a sister Mary Elizabeth Miller, Arizonia City, AZ, two granddaughters, Jennifer (Bryan) Lentz, Atchison and Paula (Ryan) Halling, Atchison, KS, and four great grandchildren, Landon and Leah Lentz and Emma and Rylee Halling. Jay Alan Gould 67, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024 at his home. He was born July 1, 1957 in St. Joseph, son of Margie and Roy Gould. 

He graduated from Lafayette High School, class of 1975, and attended Platt Business College. Jay was a longtime cook at Perkins Restaurant. He enjoyed bowling and watching football, especially the Green Bay Packers. 

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Janice Hoye. 

Survivors include: son, Anthony (Brandi) Lopez of St Joseph, brother, Jack (Cindy) Gould of Savannah, MO, grandchildren, Destinee, Dallis, Dominick Lopez, brother-in-law, Steven Hoye of New River, AZ, and several nieces and nephews.

Shawn Michael McBride 44, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Thursday December 12, 2024 at the Liberty Hospital. He was born May 21, 1980 in St. Joseph, Missouri. 

Shawn graduated from Central High School, enjoyed working at Mosaic Life Care as a greeter, and was an avid St. Louis Rams fan. He enjoyed sitting outside on nice days, listening to his police scanner where he learned every street and cross street in St. Joseph, and watching his favorite TV shows. 

He was preceded in death by his sister, Theresa Kay Garner and Uncles Thomas and David McBride. 

Survivors include his father, Michael (Kendal) McBride, St. Joseph, MO, mother, Sharon Davis, St. Joseph, MO, siblings: Chris (Becky) Gee, Belton, MO, Rhonda (Geoffrey) Gould, Lenexa, KS, Ginger (Patrick) McGuire, Maysville, MO,  nieces Bianca Gould, Gracie Garner, and Eisley McGuire and nephews Cody Garner and Owen McGuire, Aunts Carol and Evelyn McBride, and cousins Laura McBride and Colter Revels.

Shawn Michael McBride 1980 - 2024

Douglas "Doug" Mehrer, 61, of De Kalb, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, in a Kansas City health care center. Born on August 23, 1963, in Omaha, Nebraska, Doug graduated from East High School in Iowa. He dedicated over 25 years of his career to working as a Conductor at Burlington Northern. A passionate fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, Doug also enjoyed spending his time fishing.

Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Halverson, and his grandson, Braxton Meyer. He is survived by his daughters, Makayla R. (Zack) Meyer of Dearborn, MO, and Sammie Rogers of Kansas City, MO; his former spouse, Bridget Mehrer of De Kalb, MO; his grandchildren, Reagan Shelton, Tatum Laughlin, and Emmitt Meyer; his great-granddaughter, Huntley Bates; and his brother, Ron Mehrer of Omaha, NE.

A passionate fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, Doug also enjoyed spending his time fishing.Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Halverson, and his grandson, Braxton Meyer. Lloyd Wayne Jewett, 82, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024. He was born to Guy and Josephine Jewett on May 11, 1942, in Craig, Missouri. He graduated from Craig High School in 1960.

Wayne was a car enthusiast and worked as a service and detail manager, among other jobs. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially Kentucky Wildcats basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. 

Wayne's father called him Toughy when he was younger. That toughness served him well later in life. He had a giving spirit and was a friend to many.

Wayne is survived by his children, Marty Jewett, Chris Jewett, and Dianna Jewett; grandchildren, Jory Jewett (Leudy), Anthony LaMarche, and Meghan LaMarche (Daniel); great-grandchildren, Maria, John, Anna, and Barnabas Jewett; brother, Guy (Phyllis) Jewett; and sister-in-law, Kay Jewett.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Gene, siblings Colleen, Oliver, Harold, Joan, Shirley, and grandson Jeremiah. 

The family wishes to thank Mosaic Hospice and his caregivers at Abundant Acres Care and Rehab. 

Wayne was cremated under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home.

Rex Jones, 69, lost his fight with esophageal cancer and passed away on December 15th.&nbsp;

He was born on October 7th, 1955 to William O. and Betty J. Jones. He graduated from Central High School in 1974 where he had done wrestling and weightlifting. After that he attended Hobart Institute. He worked at Jones Plbg and Htg, Archdekin &amp; Jones Plbg and Htg, Jones and Son Plbg and was also the plumbing inspector for the city of St. Joseph.&nbsp;

He enjoyed bowling, shooting pool which he had been in several leagues, fishing, camping and boating on the Missouri River.

He married Cindy DeSpain on March 4th and for the short time they had together shared a lifetime of love.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter Charissa Michelle Jones. He is survived by his wife Cindy and siblings - Owen L. Jones (Pati), Francie R. Archdekin (Joe) - all of St. Joseph and Cecil W. Jones (Melinda) Dallas TX, children Crystal Linder (John), Cherie Thompson (Derek), Rex Jones II, Tiffany Stanton (Walt), Aaron DeSpain (Emmalee) and several grandkids, nieces and nephews and three great grand children.

A visitation for Rex will be held at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel Wednesday, December 18th, from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. A Memorial Service will follow after the visitation.

Elizabeth Ann Burton, age 90, of Easton, Missouri passed away peacefully on December 12th, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert ("Bob") H. Burton, Jr., daughter Mary Ellen Burton, her parents Phillip and Mary (Harrington) Carmichael and sister Mary Frances Crouse.

She is survived by her daughters Martha Burton of Colstrip, Montana and Katherine (Tim) Morris of Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren Bridget Morris, Tom (Ashley) Morris, John (Alicia) Morris, Brian (Kait) Morris, and Michael (Tracie) Morris and eleven great-grandchildren.

Ann was born on September 25th, 1934. She was a lifelong resident of Easton and graduated from Easton High School. Ann and Bob were married in April of 1953. She was an avid gardener and reader. Ann loved history and took many trips with Bob to see places that were of significance to their family's past. She had fond memories of their trip to Ireland. She loved her farm and wished to preserve it for future generations. For many years, she served as the Democratic Committeewoman of Tremont Township. Ann was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Easton, Missouri, and member of the Altar Society. Ann will be remembered by family for her warmth, wit, her ability to "cook for an army" every time her grandchildren would visit, making the best dinner rolls, continuous lists and fierce loyalty to her family.

Services will be held Friday, December 20th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Easton, Missouri. Visitation and rosary will be at 10:00 A.M. followed by the funeral mass at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery at Easton, Missouri. Funeral luncheon will follow the service at the parish hall.

She was born in Saint Joseph, Missouri on March 30, 2024, to Rose (Mitchell) and Joseph T. Miller.

Velma's life was defined by the love she bore for her family and her zest for life.

Affectionately known to all as "Sis," she devoted much of her time enveloped in the joy of her grandkids, each of whom she held dearly in her heart. Her fondness for family extended to her siblings; many of her days were spent recounting cherished memories and creating new ones. Alongside family, Velma had a passion for sewing and crochet.

An endearing fan of "The Golden Girls", Velma's evenings were often spent with laughter as she indulged in sweets—the perfect accompaniment to her favorite network shows. Her warmth, compassion, and sincere camaraderie will be remembered by all who knew her as the family gathers to honor her legacy of love and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lonnie Clayton Lykins; her daughter Mildred; and her grandson Lonnie.

Becky as she was known by everyone began her heavenly life on December 11, 2024.

Becky was born March 8, 1935, one of ten children born to the late Roscoe and Zollie (Kerns) Foster, in Falls City, Nebraska.

She attended country schools until she was in junior high then high school, in Falls City.

On August 23, 1953, she married the love of her life Donald R. Butrick. To this union five children were born: William, Zollie, Cynthia, Larry, and Peggy. They raised their family in White Cloud, Robinson communities before moving to Hiawatha to make their home in later years.

She worked at the Brown County Infirmary, Belmont Casket Company in Falls City, Wilde Tool Company in Hiawatha, and Hammersmith Manufacturing in Horton.

Becky loved to cook, bake, growing flowers, watching wild birds and listening to them sing. She enjoyed sitting on the deck and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren ‘to the moon and back’.

Survivors include her children: Larry Butrick (Christie), William Butrick (Joyce), and Peggy Hanesworth (Larry); 10 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Becky was preceded in by her parents, husband Don, April 5, 2018, daughters Zollie, and Cynthia; grandson Dyllon, great-grandson Brock; and all nine of her siblings.

Rebecca A. "Becky" Butrick 1935 - 2024

Joe Miller was born in Walla Walla, Washington on July 20, 1948, passed away after a long battle with Parkinsons on December 10, 2024.

Joe grew up in Phoenix, Arizona where his father worked as a master carpenter. While growing up, his father passed on his carpentry skills, and Joe used them to make beautiful wood artifacts. During this time, Joe also learned to tinker with cars and trucks. In recent years Joe loved to attend car shows and to tinker with his pride and joy, a 1948 Ford truck.

Joe graduated from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in Evanston, Illinois, and Northwestern University’s Navy ROTC program. He flew for the Navy from 1970-1978. He instructed in the T-28 and flew the US-2, C-117, C-131, and CT-39. While flying the C-117 in the Far East, Joe became a Cubi Dog Centurion having completed over one hundred missions at Mama Lee’s in Taegu, Korea. He was hired by Braniff in 1978 and was a “plumber” on the DC-8 out of Miami to South America, until he got caught by the furlough in 1980. Joe worked with his dad for a couple of years building a custom home near Phoenix, then worked at Motorola’s Tactical Electronics Division for two years. Joe went back to the Far East with the Navy from 1986-1987 flying the C-12, then returned to Braniff 2 as a Captain on the B737 in 1988. This time, Joe’s Braniff career lasted all the way to bankruptcy in 1989. Joe joined America West in 1990 and served as Captain on the B737 and A320. In 1992, Joe went through a final furlough as America West went through bankruptcy. He was recalled to America West in 1993, after a brief period of flying for Ryan International, and medically retired in 2008 from US Airways, which by this time had merged with America West. Joe retired from the Navy in 1996 at the rank of Captain.

Joe is survived by his wife Caryn, and their two children, Jacob and his wife Lindsay with their two children Adalei and Ember, Robyn and her wife Melissa with their two children Evan and Sonder, as well as his sister Marilyn Owendoff and her husband Jim and their two sons, Joe’s nephews, Nathan and John and their families.

He will be missed greatly by all whose lives he touched.

She spent much of her early years living in California. In 1991, she married Richard Graves in Troy, KS. She was a California girl who loved the beach. She also enjoyed playing bingo, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. 

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Elder.

Joyce Ann Graves 1949 - 2024

Patty Richey passed away on December 11, 2024, after putting up a very brave battle with brain cancer for over a year, with her son, daughter-in-law and grandson by her side. Their unwavering love the last years was amazing, making many trips to Mayo Clinic and KU.

Patty was the daughter of Robert (Tom) Richey. She is survived by her son, Matt Mace (whom she loved dearly), grandson Miles and Nikki Mace, daughter-in-law. Also surviving, brother Glenn Richey and sister-in-law Sharon Richey.

Her Dad taught her many things in life, especially a hard work ethic, how to care for and maintain vehicles, while her older brother, Glenn, taught her to “think like a carpenter.” She and Glenn had lots of good memories together.

God has a way of bringing Angels into your life when you really need them. My thanks to these Angels, Linda Johnson, Desiree Cambrom, Kathy Lewis, Connie Klingensmith, Rita Mitchell, Julie Gallagher, and Tina Chapman.

Patty worked as a Biological Pharmaceutical Sterile Fill Operator for 24 years and was very passionate about her work.

Patty was clothed in strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of her future.

Their unwavering love the last years was amazing, making many trips to Mayo Clinic and KU.Patty was the daughter of Robert (Tom) Richey. She is survived by her son, Matt Mace (whom she loved dearly), grandson Miles and Nikki Mace, daughter-in-law. Also surviving, brother Glenn Richey and sister-in-law Sharon Richey.Her Dad taught her many things in life, especially a hard work ethic, how to care for and maintain vehicles, while her older brother, Glenn, taught her to “think like a carpenter.” She and Glenn had lots of good memories together.God has a way of bringing Angels into your life when you really need them. Doris May Lieb, 90, of Onaga, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at her home.

She was born January 23, 1934, the daughter of &nbsp;Charles Wallace and Zinna June Matzenbacher Dungan in Alva, OK. She graduated from Avard High School in Avard, Oklahoma.

Doris married Stanley Eugene Fiscus in 1953. &nbsp;From that union she had four children. They were divorced. She married Charles Lieb in 1983 at Westmoreland. He survives, of the home.

Doris worked in hospitals at Waynoka and Alva, Oklahoma, and for the Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline in Moorland and Weatherford, Oklahoma. She worked in construction of the pipeline in Havensville, KS and Lineville, IA. Doris also worked in the kitchen at the nursing home and restaurants in Onaga, KS. She also helped Charlie on the farm.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two grandsons, Michah Fiscus and Josh Smith, a daughter-in-law, Linda Fiscus, three brothers, Charles, James and Bud, and two sisters, Joann and Lydia.

Other survivors include two sons, Terry Fiscus, Blackwelll, OK, John Fiscus (Pam) Waynoka, OK, &nbsp;two daughters, Stana Fiscus Zehr, Wichita, KS, Conla Fiscus Brotzge (Dave) Louisville, KS, sister-in-law Margaret Huffman, Marysville, KS, a brother-in-law, Mark Lieb, Onaga, KS, nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Aaron, Tyler, Sarah, Seth, Jason, Melissa, Jessica and Kody, and twenty great grandchildren.

Stewartsville, Missouri…Marilyn Faye Stevenson, age 88, was called home by her Lord and Savior on December 10, 2024. She was born September 5, 1936 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of Oliver and Anna (Downs) Daniels.&nbsp;

She married the love of her life, Joe Stevenson, on July 11, 1974, in Plattsburg, Missouri. Marilyn worked as a nursing supervisor for the&nbsp;State Hospital in St. Joseph, MO, for many years. She and Joe owned an antique store in Jamesport, MO, and later opened a store in Stewartsville.

She enjoyed auctions and going to garage sales. She loved cooking, gardening, reading, crocheting, antique jewelry, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was&nbsp;a member of the Community of Christ Church in Stewartsville, MO, where she was also baptized.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Julie Donahoo; and sister, Linda Daniels.

She is survived by her husband, Joe, of the home; children, David Donahoo, Andrea Stadjuhar (Terry), Debbie Black (Rodney), Daniel Stevenson (Debbie); brother, Gordon Daniels (Emily); sister, Judith Moutray; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and numerous other family and friends.&nbsp;

Charles Dwayne Ham, 75, of Saint Joseph, MO, passed away on December 10, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Born on October 9, 1949, in Saint Joseph, MO, Charles was a lifelong resident of the area. He married Linda (Taylor) Ham on February 6, 1971. Charles dedicated 25 years of his career to Mead and later retired from Tyson after 14 years of service. He enjoyed bowling, calling and playing bingo, going to the casino, and spending time with his family.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Cheryl (Ham) Morriss, son Michael Ham, his sister Sandy (Ham) Thompson, and brothers Jerry Ham and Kirby Ham. He is survived by his loving wife Linda, his sons Jeff (Tara) Ham and Chris (Emeli) Ham, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several other family members.

Maxine VanDyke, 102 passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

Maxine was born with twin sister Allene (Glander) on July 11, 1922 at home in Gallatin, Missouri to Martha E. (Ballard) Drummond, and Homer P. Drummond. Maxine was a graduate of Gallatin High School in 1942. Maxine married Glen F. VanDyke on December 11, 1942 in the Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. They were married 48 years. Maxine is preceded in death by her Mother and Father, six siblings, husband Glen and son Robert. Maxine worked until retirement for the Gallatin School District (both High School and Grade School). Maxine at 102 still could remember most of the students and their stories from her years as a School Secretary. It was remarkable. Maxine was a lifelong member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Eastern Star. &nbsp;After Glenn’s passing, Maxine went to live with her twin Allene in California. Allene passed in 2018, and she returned to Missouri for the remainder of her life.

Maxine is survived by, son Max W. (Linda) VanDyke of St. Joseph, MO. Grandchildren, Tammy (Mike) Hedrick, Robbie(Jessica) VanDyke, Ryan(Tyson) VanDyke, Nicholas(Brittney) VanDyke. Great Granddaughter, Sydney VanDyke. What can you say about a 102 year old who lived full life? Memory was 100%, better than most of us. Maxine loved her family, making pies, golf, fashion and a little gambling. God blessed her many happy years.&nbsp;

Maxine requested no service. The family will have a celebration of life in the spring of 2025.

Jack Edward Platz, 96, St. Joseph, Missouri; passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Jack was born on July 5, 1928 in Fairview, Pennsylvania to Earl and Ethel Platz &nbsp;He was one of seventeen children and subsequently, would be the last one to survive death. Jack lived in St. Joseph, Missouri with his wife, Patricia Mortimor Platz.

He worked for True Temper for forty-eight years, first in Lake City, Pennsylvania, second in Amory, Mississippi and finally as Plant Manager in Kansas City, Missouri.

Jack grew up in and around Girard, Pennsylvania. He attended Union High School where he met and married the late Mary Louise West. &nbsp;They had five children together.

Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved sports. In later years he enjoyed planting a garden and being with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Patty; two sons, Thomas Edward Platz and John Charles Platz (Renee); three daughters, Suzanne Grissom (Butch), Patricia Mae Crotwell (Steve) and JoAnn Louise Cavanah (Deriek); three step-daughters, Teresa Cross (Mike), Terri Jennings (Ray), Renee Mortimor, eleven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and even some great-great grandchildren.

Mr. Platz was cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel. There are no services or visitation scheduled at this time.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry Dean Burton, husband, father, and brother. Born on January 17, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri to Roy “Lucky” and Lucille Burton and passed away on December 8, 2024 at his home in St. Joseph, MO. 

Larry was a hard worker who could always be counted on for any project. &nbsp;In 1968 Larry graduated from Appleton City High School. He went on to marry his high school sweetheart Diana Love, they were married for 14 years and had two sons, Chad and Daniel Burton of Tampa, Florida. After high school Larry went to work for the Local 83 Boilermakers, he later purchased the NAPA store in Appleton City and operated it for several years after which he transferred his NAPA ownership to St. Joseph, Missouri. Larry operated a NAPA franchise for several years. After selling his NAPA business Larry went on to work as a Boilermaker for Local 83 until he retired.&nbsp;

On December 30, 1998, Larry married the love of his life Rufena Greenhaw, they enjoyed 26 wonderful years of marriage before his passing. Larry was baptized at New Home Baptist Church and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. Larry enjoyed traveling with Rufena and had a passion for vintage vehicles.&nbsp;

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Rufena; sons, Chad and Daniel Burton; step daughter, Charo Davis; step granddaughter, Meghan Davis; sister, Linda (Eddie) Hairgrove; brother, Glen Burton; sister, Roxann (Corey) Lusk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ronald Dean Carrington, 79, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away on Saturday, December, 7th 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Ronald was born on December, 24th 1944 to the late Fay and Fern (Pike) Carrington in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was a 1963 graduate of Lafayette High School.

Mr. Carrington proudly served his country in the US Army from 1964-1988, serving as a Military Medic for 24 years. &nbsp;

After retiring from the military, Ronald earned a BSN degree from Missouri Western State University, and continued his medical career as a Registered Nurse for several more years.&nbsp;

Ronald was united in marriage to Marva Wolfe on September, 21st 1964 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Together they were blessed with and raised their 3 children; son, David Carrington and daughters; Lisa Carrington and Amy Gongis.&nbsp;

Survivors of Ronald include his wife, Marva; sister, Brenda Mozingo; children, David Carrington, Lisa Carrington, and Amy Gongis and honorable grandson, Andrew Edwards.&nbsp;

Ronald Carrington 1944 - 2024

Ronald F. Cummings, 82, formerly of Chandler, Texas, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 25, 1942 in Jackson County, KS, the son of Raymond and Minnie Marshall Cummings. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Ronald worked as a truck driver for various trucking companies in Texas. &nbsp;He was very active in local car clubs and a member of the Tyler, Texas Mustang Club. He also had a love for dogs and was an avid dog owner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Connie Lorranie Taylor, Arlene Bridget Cummings, and Rose Ellen Saothoff, and five brothers, Felix Virgil, Charles Neal, Raymond Eugene, Earl William and Paul Laverne Cummings.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary Catherine Merchan, Mobile, AL and Ruth Ann Cook, Chinchilla, AL, and nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 12th at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mayetta, KS. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday prior to Mass.

Cummings, 82, formerly of Chandler, Texas, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center.He was born July 25, 1942 in Jackson County, KS, the son of Raymond and Minnie Marshall Cummings. &nbsp;&nbsp;Ronald worked as a truck driver for various trucking companies in Texas. &nbsp;He was very active in local car clubs and a member of the Tyler, Texas Mustang Club. He also had a love for dogs and was an avid dog owner.He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Connie Lorranie Taylor, Arlene Bridget Cummings, and Rose Ellen Saothoff, and five brothers, Felix Virgil, Charles Neal, Raymond Eugene, Earl William and Paul Laverne Cummings.Survivors include two sisters, Mary Catherine Merchan, Mobile, AL and Ruth Ann Cook, Chinchilla, AL, and nieces and nephews.Mass of Christian Burial will 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 12th at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mayetta, KS. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday prior to Mass.<figure>
