Damon William Craig was born in St. Joseph, MO on April 15, 1972 to parents Patricia Ann &amp; Robert Lee Craig, Jr.

He attended Central High School and Missouri Western State University.

After moving to Sanibel Island, Florida he met and married Carina Winter. They had 2 children Bailey Ashton Craig and Hannah Isabelle Craig.

He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, he was a Mason and a member of the Moila Shrine Temple.

Through the years he worked as a Bartender, Realtor, Hair Stylist and as a Welder.

He loved to play golf, ride his Harley and hang out drinking with friends.

He is survived by his children Bailey and Hannah Craig, and their mother. His mother Patricia Ann Craig, his father Robert Lee Craig, Jr. and his wife Karen. His sister Shannon Clark and nephew Carter Clark. His half sister Lisa Craig Bone and her husband James, his half brother Dan Craig and his wife Terri, their children and grandchildren.

Mr Craig has been cremated under the direction of the Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.

Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 9:00 AM, Wednesday, April 19th.

The family will receive friends 5:00 - 6:30 PM, Wednesday evening at our Chapel.

Ron Ramsey, 76, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023.

He was born on December 27, 1946, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Otis and Berniece Ramsey. He graduated from Lafayette High School and joined the U.S. Air Force where he served as a fire protection specialist.

He spent two years in Japan and one year in Saigon, South Vietnam, returning home in December 1969. In March 1970, he joined the St. Joseph Fire Department, retiring after 38 and a half years.

Ron was a Christian and a member of the Green Valley Baptist Church, where he served since 1989.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Gloria J. Ramsey (French); son, Bryan J. Ramsey of Columbia, MO; stepson, Rodney Smith of Texas; brother, Larry Ramsey (Jeanne) of Conroe, TX; sisters, Karen Patton (David) and Rita Peden (Ron) of St. Joseph, MO; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Donald Bradley, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023.

He was born March 2, 1932 to Roy Bradley and Elsie Stallsworth in St. Joseph, Missouri.

He married Juana Lee Tietz on August 7, 1959.

Donald worked for St. Joseph News-Press as a photographer for 30 years and then he was a salesman at Car City Chrysler for 14 years.

He was a member of Community of Christ Church.

Donald enjoyed photography, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Vivian Bradley; siblings, Robert Bradley, Loretta Brooks, and Jenny Stewart.

Survivors include his wife, Juana Bradley; daughter, Denise Bradley; brother, Richard Bradley (Diane); grandchildren, Justin Olson (Chrisanna), Paige Olson (Phil); great-grandchildren, Jonas, Jude, and Mary-Therese Olson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Darrell G. Thornton 39 of Plattsburg Missouri died Wednesday April 5, 2023, at a Cameron Missouri Hospital. Born on April 22, 1983, in Kansas City Missouri to Darrell G. and Kathy (Reimund) Thornton Sr.&nbsp; 

He was an avid KC Chiefs fan, he also loved to go arrowhead hunting and cooking was his passion. He made friends with everyone, never met a stranger. Darrell loved politics and the news. He was a family man. On June 21, 2018, he married Rashell Hiser. 

He was preceded in death by his father.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife Rashell of the Home; three children Liam, Lily Anna, and Leah; his mother Kathy Thornton of Holts Summit MO; sister Misty Thornton of Neosho MO; brother Robert Thornton of Clinton MO., and his nephews and nieces and extended family.&nbsp;

Daniel Varga Sr., 79, of Weston, MO, passed away on April 06, 2023, at NorthCare Hospice House. Daniel Varga Sr. was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, to John and Anna Varga on February 8, 1944. 

He went to school in Jersey City. He married Roberta Ann Chidester at Offutt Air Force Base on December 07, 1963. He graduated from The University of Nebraska Omaha with an Associate’s in Electronic Engineering in 1973 and attended the Radio Engineering Institute of Omaha from 1966 - 1968. He worked as an Electronic Engineer for numerous companies, including Control Data, Dysan, Stolley Corp, Digital, SpeedFam, and a Traffic Signal &amp; Lighting Tech with the Arizona Department of Transportation. 

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Air Force from February 1962 to February 1968. In the Air Force, he was a Radio Relay Equipment Repair Man. He enjoyed working on tube radios, fishing, fostering dogs, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. 

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Varga, and his infant son Dennis Allen Varga. 

Daniel is survived by his wife of 59 years, Roberta Ann Varga, children Daniel Jr. (Cindy) Varga, Scott (Michele) Varga, and Susan (Keith) Finn, brother Kenneth (Barbara) Varga, sister Rosemarie (John) Greenip, grandchildren Jerry, Brittany, Halley, and Patrick, step-grandchildren Liam and Sarah, great-grandchildren Sadie, Ellie and Huck and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces.

He was born on June 28, 1997 in Liberty, Missouri. Nate grew up in Lathrop where he attended school. Nate loved his fiancé, Sarah, and his family and spending time with them. He created his own rap songs and his love and hugs were incomparable.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Kenneth E. Moore and Jon Emery; step-mother, Denise Emery.

Kolby Davison, 27, of Bolckow, MO, passed from this life into Heaven on Friday, April 7, 2023. Kolby Gerald Davison was born on November 28, 1995, the son of Dewayne and Jodi (Gray) Davison, at St Joseph, MO. &nbsp;He was baptized into the Rosendale Christian Church.

Kolby graduated from North Andrew High School in Rosendale, MO, in 2014. He worked at the MoDOT Northwest District and raised cattle on his farm. Kolby enjoyed spending time with his dog Patsy Mae and riding his horses, Dolly and Reba. He loved being outside, whether it was riding horses, hunting, boating on the Missouri River, roping, floatin’ or setting bank lines on the 102.

Kolby was committed to his friends and made many lasting memories with them. While grilling out with his friends, Kolby was known as the Grill Master on “family dinner” nights. Ranch rodeoing with his brother and the Pittman brothers was a favorite pastime. In May of 2021 Kolby and his horse, Dolly, won Top Hand and Top Horse at the Jake Marriott Memorial Ranch Rodeo. He liked having fun, but he was also a hard worker who knew what he was doing when it came to farming and ranching. He knew what it meant to put in a good day’s work. Kolby loved his mom’s home-cooked meals, and she loved feeding him. Helping his dad on the farm and working on stuff together were things he enjoyed. He was a very caring guy and would tell his friends he loved them all the time. Kolby will forever be missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gerald &amp; Wanda Davison and Dennis &amp; Mary Beth Gray, and cousin John Davison.

Kolby is survived by his parents Dewayne &amp; Jodi of Rosendale, MO, and his brother Kyle Davison of Bolckow.

Graveside services will be on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 10 AM at Bennett Lane Cemetery.

Kolby Davison 1995 - 2023

Reid B. Ordnung, 93, Savannah, MO; passed away Monday, November 30, 2022 at a local health care facility.

Reid was born on the family farm north of Savannah, MO on October 9, 1929 to Herbert and Mabel Ordnung. He was a graduate of Savannah High School in 1947, the St. Joseph Jr. College in 1949 and the School of Banking at the University of Colorado. While in the Army from 1951 to 1953, he served as a Special Agent in the Army Counter Intelligence Corps.

Reid married Marie DeVault on October 31, 1951. Reid began his banking career with the Tootle National Bank in 1958. He was later Vice-President at the American National Bank and then Vice-President and Director at the Community Bank in Savannah. He retired from the Mercantile Bank in 1994.

Reid held numerous positions at the Savannah United Methodist Church in Savannah over the years and was Chairman of the Rolling Hills Library in the 1970’s.

He is survived by his wife, Marie, of the home; daughter, Barbara Yunker; and son, Michael (Patti) Ordnung: grandchildren, Regina Yunker (Mike Rudnicki), Megan Yunker (Matt Higgins), Brett ( Elizabeth) Ordnung and Brennan Ordnung. Reid was proud to be a great-grandfather of Maxwell Rudnicki, Graham Higgins, Emmelyn Higgins, and Brooks Ordnung.

In addition to his parents, Reid was preceeded in death by his son-in-law, John Yunker.

The family would like to thank the staff at Vintage Gardens for the care they provided Reid.

He was born on April 10, 1964, in King City, Missouri the son of William Dean and Virginia (Jones) McCrea.

Doug served on the King City R-1 School Board and was a member of the King City Presbyterian Church. He received his FFA State Degree, enjoyed antique western memorabilia, hunting, and collecting guns. He loved the water especially boating and fishing. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, especially Travis Kelce.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William B. and Cleone McCrea and Bill and Goldie Jones.

Doug is survived by children, Dylan McCrea, King City, MO, Madison McCrea and Cash McCrea both of St. Joseph, MO; his parents, Dean and Virginia McCrea, King City, MO; granddaughter, RaeLynn Dean McCrea; sister, DeeAnn McCrea, Columbia, MO; niece, Megan McCrea, Columbia, MO and aunts, Gloria Carlson and Ellen Wyatt.

Maysville, Missouri…….Doris Aileen Owen was born December 21, 1926 to Luther Marsden and Velma Ethel (Flanders) Owens on a farm near Fairport, MO. She passed away April 10, 2023, at Sunset Home with family at her side.

Doris attended elementary school at Oak Grove and New Harvard Country Schools and Maysville Elementary. She graduated from Maysville High School in 1945. She then attended Platte-Gard Business School in St. Joseph and worked at Standard Oil Co.

On November 10, 1946, she married John Howard Owen at Stewartsville, MO.&nbsp;&nbsp;After getting married, Doris worked as a secretary for the Veterans Farm Training program. They soon moved to the farm where she became a housewife who not only kept her house immaculate but the yard and garden as well. John and Doris made their home on the farm all their married life where they raised their four children: Ronnie, Rickey, Randy, and Ronda.

Doris’ love was family, horses, gardening and sewing. She made clothes for herself and the family and repaired some articles of clothing that was almost beyond repairing. She could put a “patch” on top of another “patch” to get some more “wear” out of chore clothes. Stories and pictures of her horse “Tommy” made her smile these last few months. She spent hours in her garden keeping it looking good and growing food for her table, family and friends. She probably canned more green beans than anyone in the county.

After 59 years of marriage, John Howard preceded her in death on May 22, 2006. She continued to live on the farm until her health declined requiring her to leave the farm and live at the nursing home.

Besides Johnny, Doris is also preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Velma.

She is survived by her sons, Ronnie (Sue) of Rock Port, Rick (Alda) of Fairport, Randy (Robin) of Maysville, and her daughter, Ronda (Charles) of Maysville and by eight grandchildren: Brady (Ann) Owen, Brandi (Isaac) Gipson, Jake (Christina) Owen, Kate (Nathan) Noland, Aaron Bridgeman, Emily (John Henry) Parkinson, Jimmy (Tricia) McClure, and Brian (Christine) McClure.

She is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren: Isla and Marsden Gipson, Olivia and Adam Owen, Logan, Haley, and Landon Noland, Alexa Edwards, Buck Beems, Taelyn, Halleigh, and Connor Parkinson, Kason, Kennidee, and Kenzee McClure, and Jerrilyn and Cody McClure.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2023 at Turner Family Funeral Home of Maysville with burial following at Shambaugh-Cope Cemetery, Weatherby, Missouri.&nbsp;&nbsp;Visitation is 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Raymond Henry Puvogel, 95, of Hiawatha, Kansas passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, April 8, 2023, surrounded by family.&nbsp;

Ray was born on December 25, 1927, to Richard and Ida (Brandt) Puvogel in Hiawatha where he spent nearly his entire life. He graduated from Hamlin High School in 1946. On March 25, 1951, Ray married the love of his life, Loretta Jane (Retta) Owen. Together they raised 3 daughters and 1 son. Ray had many occupations throughout his long life; farmer, grain elevator operator, and most notably owner of Puvogel Construction from 1980 until 2013. His son Steve, son in laws, grandsons, and granddaughter, worked by his side at some point in their lives. Ray's handy work is still visible all over the area, especially in the trim and finishings of the First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Hiawatha, the renovation of the Framke Funeral Home (now Chapel-Oaks in Hiawatha),&nbsp; and the construction of the Maple Winds Apartment Complex in Hiawatha.&nbsp;

In addition to his working years, Ray also served in the Kansas Army National Guard, 2nd Battalion, 130th Field Artillery Division in Hiawatha from 1949 until 1952, when he was discharged at the rank of SGT, he farmed for 10 years in the Hamlin area before moving to Hiawatha. Ray was the assistant manager at the Ben Franklin Store, sales and repair for Davies Implement, and the Streib &amp; Son Service Shop, and a self-employed carpenter, all of Hiawatha.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Ray and Retta were longtime members of the First Baptist Church of Hiawatha. Ray served for several years as a deacon and trustee, where he built many strong, long lasting, relationships. In later years, he returned to serve on the trustee board, where he was instrumental in the construction of the new Family Life Center. He enjoyed putting together puzzles, playing card games, and his most important pastime was spending time with his family. His greatest joy and accomplishment was the strong family he and Retta built.

&nbsp;Survivors include his three daughters: Paula Rake (Dennis) of Lake Lotawanna, MO, Mary Kay Davies (Kevin) of Savannah, MO, and Jane Wagoner (Steve) of Leavenworth, KS, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren (with another due in July), and many nieces and nephews.

&nbsp;Ray was preceded in death by his parents, wife Retta in 2021, son Steven Puvogel in 1994, and two brothers and 4 sisters. &nbsp;

A Celebration of Ray’s Eternal Life is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Hiawatha.&nbsp; Pastor James Callaway will officiate.&nbsp; Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.&nbsp;

Friends may call at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home after 12 noon until 6 p.m. Thursday.&nbsp; The family will greet friends from 9:30-11 a.m. Friday at Church.

Bette Jane (Price) Lampton, 100, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023.

She was born on December 17, 1922, to Edward and Faye (Glaze) Price in St. Joseph, Missouri.

She graduated from Central High School and retired from Ross Frazer Supply Company as a clerk. Bette was baptized at the First Christian Church in St. Joseph, and a longtime member. She was also a member of SEMO.

Bette was a talented artist, and enjoyed dancing, watercolor and oil paintings, and ceramics. She was an animal lover, and especially fond of her dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Faye; husband, O.L. ”Bob” Lampton, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Survivors include her daughter, Robyn Modlin (Martin), son Craig P. Lampton (Kelly); grandchildren, Laura Bowling (Ryan), Grant Modlin (Chelsea), Cort Lampton (fiancée, Ashley Norton) and Paige Hancock (Josh); great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Benjamin, Meredith, Maverick and Brooks, and numerous extended family members.

The last six months of her life, Bette made many friends and received excellent care while living at Corby Place. The family wants to thank Corby Place and Traditions Hospice for their compassionate care.

Luella May Darr, 88, of Smithville, MO passed away April 7, 2023. &nbsp;

She was born on November 12, 1934, to James H. and Hazel I. (Downing) Hope in Green City, MO where she grew up and graduated from Green City High School. &nbsp;On January 5, 1952,&nbsp;

Lu was united in marriage to Frederick Gordon Darr. Fred and Lu settled in Smithville, MO where they owned and operated Darr’s Elite Cleaners and Laundry in Smithville and Platte City for many years. Fred passed away on October 30, 2014. &nbsp;

Lu was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Smithville. She volunteered at St. Luke’s Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, playing the piano and most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Darr; her parents James and Hazel Hope; her sisters Zelma (Marvin) Cox and Ramah Hope; her brothers James (Eleanor) Hope and Don (Louise) Hope; and her brothers in law Jim Armstrong and Art Phariss &nbsp;

Lu is survived by her Children Michael (Ann) Darr, Steven (Linda) Darr, James (Tiernie) Darr and Janet (David) Anderson; grandchildren: Jennifer (Jason) Ayers, Jeromy (Ashley) Darr, Kimberly (Tom) Casebolt, Christopher Darr, Christina (Scott) Cross, Jonathan (Amy) Darr, Stephanie (Chris) Ross, Phil (Susan) Anderson, Marcus Anderson, Joshua Darr, Courtney Darr and Felicia Anderson, and her love continued for her 28 great grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters; her two sisters Jeannette Armstrong and Lyndall Phariss; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.   &nbsp;

Marjorie "Marge" Kinzer (Hammond) 1940 - 2023

Robert (Bob) Brittain (73) passed away Saturday April 8th, 2023 peacefully at his home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born October 20, 1949 in Springfield, South Dakota to Merl &amp; Dorothy (Frye) Brittain. He graduated from North Andrew High School in 1969.&nbsp; In July, 1969 he married Norma Kay Cavey. Bob left for Army boot camp in October 1969 serving for 6 years.

Being a "jack of all trades and a master of none" as he put it, he became an auto body repairman at various shops over the years. In 1990, he owned and operated his own business, Bob’s Body Shop in Savannah, MO. He also worked as a truck driver for Norris Quarry, MODOT, and Sur-gro retiring at the age of 70.

Through the years, sports, hunting, and fishing took up his free time. He played slow pitch ball until the age of 50. Then camping and boating on the Missouri River took priority along with "Brittain Family Fun" vacations and cheering on the grandkids in sports.

Bob leaves behind his wife Kay; children, Jami Brittain of Savannah, MO and Cody (Susan) Brittain of Bolckow, MO; grandchildren, Chase (Anna) White of Fremont, NE, Clayton (Krystal) White of Rosendale, M0, Austin, Bryce and Cassidy Brittain of Bolckow, MO; great-grandchildren, Rudy White and Callan White; sisters Cheryl (Dean) Blair of Clarksdale, MO, Pat (Carey) Rhoten of North Falmouth, MA, Barbara Davis, The Villages, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Robert (Bob) Brittain (73) passed away Saturday April 8th, 2023 peacefully at his home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.He was born October 20, 1949 in Springfield, South Dakota to Merl &amp; Dorothy (Frye) Brittain. He graduated from North Andrew High School in 1969.&nbsp; In July, 1969 he married Norma Kay Cavey. Bob left for Army boot camp in October 1969 serving for 6 years.Being a "jack of all trades and a master of none" as he put it, he became an auto body repairman at various shops over the years. In 1990, he owned and operated his own business, Bob’s Body Shop in Savannah, MO. He also worked as a truck driver for Norris Quarry, MODOT, and Sur-gro retiring at the age of 70.Through the years, sports, hunting, and fishing took up his free time. He played slow pitch ball until the age of 50. Then camping and boating on the Missouri River took priority along with "Brittain Family Fun" vacations and cheering on the grandkids in sports.Bob leaves behind his wife Kay; children, Jami Brittain of Savannah, MO and Cody (Susan) Brittain of Bolckow, MO; grandchildren, Chase (Anna) White of Fremont, NE, Clayton (Krystal) White of Rosendale, M0, Austin, Bryce and Cassidy Brittain of Bolckow, MO; great-grandchildren, Rudy White and Callan White; sisters Cheryl (Dean) Blair of Clarksdale, MO, Pat (Carey) Rhoten of North Falmouth, MA, Barbara Davis, The Villages, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;A Celebration of Life Visitation will be 6:00pm – 8:00pm Friday, April 14, 2023 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home Savannah, MO.<figure>

He was born May 23, 1967 to Charles Thomas Boh and Mary Louise Gordon in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Todd enjoyed riding his Harley and spending time with his family.

Rose Marie Hillyard, 91, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023.

Rose was born May 15, 1931 in St. Joseph to John Millard Ballew and Georgia (Greenrod) Ballew. She graduated from Lafayette High School and shortly after went to work at Hillyard Chemical, where she worked until retirement age.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Rex Ballew of Puyallup, WA, and Ronald Ballew of Long Beach, CA; and her husband, R. Haskell Hillyard, with whom she made many happy memories.

Rose was a loving mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy was her family.

Survivors include daughter, Kelly (Joe) Barber; grandson, Drew; granddaughter, Jillian; and great-grandson, Corvin.

Rose Marie Hillyard 1931 - 2023

Eugene Francis Young passed away on Thursday, April&nbsp;6th at age 94.&nbsp; &nbsp;He is happy to be wrapped in his loving wife's arms again.

Gene was born on July 26, 1928, in his aunt's home in Lansing, the third of four boys born to Frank and Edith Young. The family lived at 107 North Main Street across from the prison. As a born and raised Lansing resident, Gene was proud to attend&nbsp;Lansing Schools and be a part of the community. Gene was blessed in love as he married the girl down the street, Ada Mondero, on June 3rd, 1950. They raised four children,&nbsp;David (Wanda), Michael (Vickie), Ann&nbsp;(John Hoins),&nbsp;and&nbsp;Thomas (Teresa),&nbsp;in their home of 70 years before moving to Homestead Assisted Living in March 2021. He lost Ada, his side-by-side partner, in August of 2022.

Gene claimed to be a "starter" and his many firsts included joining the new volunteer fire department when he was 18 and being elected to the first Lansing City Commission when Lansing was incorporated in 1959. He petitioned to get the four lane highway through Lansing in the mid 60's, was active with the inception of the Leavenworth County Artists Association, the Lansing Kiwanis Club, the Lansing Pride Committee, the Lansing Tree Board, The Lansing Historical Society, and the Lansing Library. Gene was instrumental with other organizations such as The Salvation Army, the Lansing Booster Club, and the Leavenworth-Lansing Chamber of Commerce. Gene and Ada were extremely active in their church, St. Francis de Sales in Lansing. They served at every capacity and were the Knights of Columbus family of the year both locally as well as Statewide. He received awards for his great volunteerism that are too numerous to mention.

Gene started working at age 16 at All Star Dairy in Kansas City. He retired as Production Manager in 1978 to start another new venture: Young Sign Co. in Leavenworth. The family business included daughter, Ann, son-in-law John Hoins, and several years later, his son Tom. His grandsons Eric, Chris and Jeff were literally born and raised in the business and had great pleasure in being able to spend so much time with Grandpa.&nbsp;

The family is known for their artistic talents and Gene helped develop the skills of his children, grandchildren and many other young people who wanted to develop their talent. He would always take the time to encourage them and give advice. His special character was "the Funny Man" which Gene would draw on napkins at restaurants, any empty chalkboard and on sidewalks. It always brought a smile to anyone who viewed them.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, baby sister Elizabeth, brothers Thomas and Arthur, and his wife of 72 years, Ada.

Gene is survived by his brother Bill, four children, their spouses, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren,&nbsp;and many loving nephews, nieces, and cousins. Gene and Ada were affectionately called "Mr. and Mrs. Lansing.”

The Rosary will be said at 4pm on Friday, April 14&nbsp;at St. Francis de Sales Church in Lansing, followed by Visitation until&nbsp;8pm. The funeral mass will be said at 10am on Saturday, April 15th, at the church with burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu&nbsp;of flowers,&nbsp;Gene's memorial wish is the addition of a new bridge and the finishing of the sidewalk pathway to join the parking lot at the church to the Gazebo/Grotto&nbsp;to make it handicap accessible. That is what his dear Ada wanted.

Vicky Lynn Mick 67 of Plattsburg Missouri died Monday April 10, 2023, at her residence. Born on April 25, 1955, to Ivan and Shirley (Stroud) Eckard. She worked as a paraprofessional for the Clinton County R-3 School District. Vicky loved her family and friends. On September 14, 1983, she married Dennis Mick.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather Roger Johnston.

Survivors include her husband Dennis of the home, sons Mitchell Mick of Plattsburg MO; David Mick of St Joseph MO; daughter Jill Maxwell of Iowa; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Vicky Lynn Mick 1955 - 2023

Ruby E. Chambers, 82, of Hiawatha, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, April 8, 2023, with family by her side at the home of her daughter’s in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Ruby was born near White Cloud on the Iowa Reservation, September 7, 1940, one of four children born to Henry and Mary Louise White Cloud Rhodd and has lived in the northeast Kansas where she attended country school near White Cloud. Ruby spent most of her working years in factories in St. Joseph and Kansas City. That being said, she was a homemaker, dedicated to caring for her husband and children.

Mrs. Chambers was a member of the Iowa Tribe of Northeast Kansas-Southeast Nebraska.&nbsp;

She married Eldon “Jim” Chambers in December 1956. They were married nearly sixty years before his death December 11, 2014.&nbsp; Ruby was also preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter Tonya, brother James White Cloud Rhodd, two sisters: Doris Bailey and Regina Jensen. She was a direct descendent of Chief White Cloud of the Ioway Tribe and sister to Jimmy Rhodd, their last tribal chief.

Survivors include two daughters:&nbsp; Chambers, Starr Evans; two brothers:&nbsp; James Chambers and Larry Chambers; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha after 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday. Family and friends will gather for visitation and Drum Services at the George Ogden Building on the Iowa Reservation, after 6.p. m Friday.

A Celebration of Ruby’s life is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at the George Ogden Building with Tim Barnett officiating. Interment will follow at the Partlow Cemetery on the Reservation.

Warsaw, Missouri - Tommy L. Remmers, 83, of Warsaw, Missouri, formerly of Wathena, Kansas passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Tommy was born on July 21, 1939, in Auburn, Nebraska to Thomas and Lela (Gerdes) Remmers.

He graduated from Auburn High School in 1958. Tommy went to work for State Farm Insurance in 1958, then moved to Wathena in 1976, and retired from State Farm in 2008.

He was a member of the St Ann’s Catholic Church in Warsaw, Missouri and Knights of Columbus in Wathena, Kansas.

Tommy married Kay Phillips on September 6, 1958, in Auburn, Nebraska. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jerry Lee Remmers, brother, Ervin Remmers, and sister, Norma Dart.

Additional survivors, Kim Manthe, (Ray), St. Joseph, Missouri, Pam Whetstine, (Roger), Troy, Kansas. Sue Remmers, St. Joseph, Missouri. 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Tommy’s wishes were to be cremated with no services.

Michael S. Kates 65, of St. Joseph, MO passed away peacefully Saturday, April 8, 2023 at his home. He was born July 30, 1957 in St. Joseph, son of Nancy (Sampson) and Wilbur Kates. 

He graduated from Benton High School, class of 1975. He married Jamie Lue Matthews on April 22, 2005. Michael worked at General Motors, retiring after 30 years and was a member of the UAW Local 31. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed listening to the police scanner and was the family weather man. 

Michael was preceded in death by his parents. 

Survivors include his wife, Jamie Lue Kates of the home, his siblings, Jim (Kris) Kates of St. Joseph, Terri (Mike) Rampola of Trimble, MO, and Debby (Larry) Filley of Cameron, MO and several nieces and nephews and great- nieces and great-nephews.
