William M. “Mike” Gibson, 76, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023.

He was born January 14, 1947 to William Arthur and Dorothy Marie Gibson in Kansas City, Missouri.

Mike married Connie Jane Heimsoth on April 29, 1972 in Alma, Missouri.

Mike and Connie started Papa Murphy’s in 1999 and after many years of working, he retired due to health.

He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War from 1967-1969 and was honorably discharged.

Before moving to St. Joseph, he was a member of Mt. Calvary Church in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. He was baptized March 30, 1947. Mike became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church once he moved to St. Joseph, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Arthur and Dorothy Marie Gibson.

Survivors include his wife, Connie of the home; sons, Brian Gibson (Vaughndena) of Gladstone, Missouri, Kyle Gibson of Owasso, Oklahoma, Anthony Gibson (Flordilez) of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Jeffrey Gibson of Pompano Beach, Florida; sister, Cynthia Phillips (Mike) of Hillsoro, Oregon; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Anderson (Dennis) and Cheryl Nelson (Tom); brothers-in-law, Leslie Heimsoth (Kathie) and David Heimsoth (T-Ann); grandchildren, Alessandra and Amelia Gibson.

Troy, Kansas - Susie M. Cooke, 84, of Troy, Kansas passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Susie was born on May 2, 1938 in Highland, Kansas to Earl and Helen (Ptomey) Ashworth.

She was a member of the Troy Christian Church, Susie worked for H D Lee Company from August 1976, to July 1990. She enjoyed the next few years staying home with grandkids, until most were in pre-school. Best years ever. She then went to work at Tom’s Heating and Cooling part time, then full time for approximately 10 years. Susie loved playing cards with her grandchildren, and attending all her grandchildren’s activities, along with her hobbies of reading, watching football, and playing scrabble. She enjoyed baking her chocolate chip cookies for everyone.

Susie married Don King in 1960, they later divorced. She then married Ron Cooke in 1975, He preceded her in death in 2019. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Bo, Ronald and William “Butch” Ashworth, sisters, Evelyn Brownlee, Jean Thomas and Mary Larkin.

Survivors, children, Donnie King (Denise), Valerie Wiedmer (Mark), Becky Martinez (Leon), and Danny King (Shelbe).

Mary Ann Cook, 79, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at a Wathena, KS health care facility. She was born May 21, 1943 in Safford, AZ, daughter of Marjorie and Albert Spradlin. 

She graduated from North Platte High School, class of 1961. Mary worked most of her life as a caregiver. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, mushrooming and collecting rocks. 

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, former husband John Cox, husband, James Cook and a sister, Martha Bomberger. 

Survivors include daughters, Pam (Kenny) Hughes of St. Joseph and Sonya (Shawn) Wilson of St Joseph, son, John (Traci) Cox of Maysville, MO, sisters, Betty Stancil of Dearborn, MO and Rosella Mathis of Nortonville, KS, grandchildren, Jamie, January, Coby, Patience, Torrie, Blair and Daven, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by husband, Wesley Boyer, her parents, three brothers, Steve, Ronald, and Donald, and her sister, Marilyn Sweet. 

Survivors include daughter, Stacie (Dave) Williams of St. Joseph, MO, granddaughter, Tracie Williams, and great grandson Ryker, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

2023, in St. Joseph, MO. She was born March 13, 1946, in Bolckow, MO, 
daughter of late Evelyn and Roy Nelson. She graduated from Rosendale 
High School. She enjoyed her own home day care, also working at Ashland 
United Methodist, and Wyatt Park Christian day cares. Doris enjoyed 
going to garage sales, traveling, going on vacations and family get 
togethers. She was a member of United Methodist Womens group and the St.
 Paul United Methodist Church. Doris was preceded in death by husband, 
Wesley Boyer, her parents, three brothers, Steve, Ronald, and Donald, 
and her sister, Marilyn Sweet. Survivors include daughter, Stacie (Dave)
 Williams of St. Joseph, MO, granddaughter, Tracie Williams, and great 
grandson Ryker, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family 
will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm on Thursday at the Rupp Funeral

 was born February 11, 1998, to Darby Roach &amp; Misty Ford. Adopted by 
Ralph and Linda (Anthony) Roach in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Allen 
enjoyed being with his friends, playing video games, fishing and 
camping. Loved going to the Skate Park or riding the Park way/fairway. 
He was an avid Chiefs fan. Played Hockey, drums &amp; guitar. Member of 
JROTC. His favorite foods were Grandma’s Spaghetti, burgers &amp; beer. 
His favorite color was Royal Purple. Favorite flowers are Lavender and 
Violets. Allen dreamed of being a dad and having a family. Loved tattoos
 and doing tattoos. Wanted to go to school to learn mechanics.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Linda (Anthony) Roach (adopted mother).

Ilene M. Pillsbury, 84, St. Joseph, passed away Monday, February 6, 2023.

She was born on March 1, 1938, to Arthur Christian and Helen Margaret (Sidor) Theise in Chicago, Illinois.

She
 obtained her associate degree from Joliet Junior College. On July 21, 
1956, she married James “Jim” Pillsbury. They shared 66 wonderful years 
together. Ilene worked for St. Dominick’s Church as a bookkeeper and 
secretary for fifteen years until her retirement. After moving to St. 
Joseph in 1977, Ilene was a member of the Fellowship Bible Church and 
regularly attended prayer meetings and bible study.

Ilene enjoyed 
baking, reading, crocheting, sewing, walking and gardening. In earlier 
years, she loved to go camping and square dancing.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors
 include her husband; children, Debbi Kogler (Tim), Diane Brown, Chris 
Pillsbury, Jamie Pillsbury (Erin), and Julie Ryan (Collin); siblings, 
Diane Theise and Peggy Lathrop; grandchildren, Kristen Inman (Brian),

Ronnie Joe Thomas, 70, St. Joseph, Missouri, entered into glory with his family at his side Wednesday, February 8, 2023.

He was born February 2, 1953, to Herbert and Mary Thomas in Chicago, Illinois.

Ronnie married Catherine Renee Harris on October 26, 2002.

He served the Lord by praying for those in need and working within the prison ministry.

Ronnie enjoyed playing video games with his grandkids and spending time with his wife and kids. He was a major Chicago Cubs fan.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy and Richard; sister, Shirley and Genevieve; and mother-in-law, Katie Harris.

He worked as a welder fabricator for Johnson Controls for over twenty years. He took great pride in his career.

Ralph enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, and playing horseshoes.

Patricia “Pat” Keeney, 87, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the Oregon Care Center.

She
 was born October 8, 1935, in Forest City, Missouri, to Everett “Pat” and 
Alice Boswell. She graduated from Forest City High School.

Pat married Alfred Lee Keeney on March 1, 1954. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2013.

She worked at Gordon Quarries, Marcum Oil, Schmidt Carriage and Keller Construction Asphalt, where she retired as a bookkeeper.

She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and the National Association of Women in Construction.

Pat enjoyed crocheting afghans, shopping, and dancing with Alfred at the Eagles Lodge.

The family would like to thank the Oregon Care Center for the excellent care they gave our mother.

She
 was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Alfred; her parents; 
brother, Joseph Boswell; and son-in-law, Roger “Buck” Jones.

Shirley Jean Goodwin, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023. 

She was born on April 3, 1936, to August and Lucille (Welch) Barmann in St. Joseph, Missouri.

She
 married Larry Dean Goodwin on September 15, 1956, and they shared 65 
years together until his passing in 2021. Shirley took pride in being a 
homemaker for their children and grandchildren for over 60 years. She 
was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for over 
25 years. 

Shirley enjoyed cross-stitching, gardening, being 
outdoors, and she never slowed down. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals
 baseball fan. Shirley loved to bake, especially around the holidays for
 family gatherings. Her favorite pastime was shopping, especially at JC 
Penney’s. She was a wonderful housewife, mother, and grandmother who 
will be missed dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.

 include her daughter, Denise Griffin (Paul); son, Michael Goodwin 
(Sherie); daughter, Susan Trautman (Matt); sister, Sarah Chase (Tom);

Shirley Jean Goodwin

Mary Wilson, 84, of Salina, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on 
January 6, 2023. She was born on July 13, 1938, to Veronica and John 
Ernst of Atchison, Kansas.

She was married on September 28, 1963, to Walt Wilson of Huron, 
Kansas, to whom she was married for 51 years. They had 2 children, Karen
 and Steve, and resided in Salina all of their married life. Mary worked
 as a registered nurse at St. John’s Hospital, Salina, from 1963 to her 
retirement in 1981. Upon retirement, she did insurance physicals for 
local insurance agents and also was a delivery driver for Jim’s Pharmacy
 until the late 1990’s. After retirement from the workforce, she kicked
 her nursing skills back in place by taking care of her husband until 
his passing in July of 2015. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved
 spending time with her family, friends, and her dog, Mollie, as well as
 her granddogs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt, of Salina; parents, 
John and Veronica Ernst, of Atchison; and her twin brother, John Ernst, 
also of Atchison. She is survived by her kids, Karen Laas (Mark), of 
Brookville, and Steve, of Salina; sister, Betty Larson, of Everest, 
Kansas; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been chosen. Family and friends were invited to stop by
 Ryan Mortuary between 12 and 5 pm on Friday, January 13, 2023, to sign 
the register book and collect a memorial folder.&nbsp;

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2023, at

John E. “Jack” Fleck, a lifelong resident of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023. He was 81.

Jack was born March 21, 1941 to John Elmer, Sr. and Doris Louise (Waller) Fleck in St. Joseph, Missouri.

He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1959 where he was class president and then earned his bachelor’s degree of Science and Criminology at Missouri Western State College in 1974.

Jack married the love of his life, Jannette Marie Stiles, on June 7, 1963. They were married for nearly 60 years.

His 21 year career in Law Enforcement began as a blue coat in 1963. As a young detective, Jack was featured in a four page spread in the January 13, 1970 edition of Look Magazine. Jack became Buchanan County Sheriff from 1974-1979 and Deputy St. Joseph Chief of Police 1979-1984. He was a committee member of the Law Enforcement Center Commission which created and designed the current Law Enforcement Complex.

Jack entered the private sector as Chief of Security for Heartland Health and was quickly promoted to Director of Risk Management. Serving Heartland for 32 years, he treated everyone with warmth and respect, whether they were top executives or entry level employees.

Jack was a lifelong member of Ashland United Methodist Church where he was a dedicated vocalist in the church choir, various quartets and took great delight in participating in the yearly Last Supper play. He was a member of many groups, including St. Joseph Lodge 78 AFAM, York Rite and Moila Shrine Temple. Jack was a past president and founding member of the Fraternal Order of Police, United Cerebral Palsy Board, and Missouri Association of Healthcare Risk Managers. He coached his sons in St. Joseph Boys Baseball and Bantam Football and followed their high school sports careers with dedication.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John, Sr. and Doris Fleck; sister, Nancy Fleck Long; and grandmother, Velva Beam Waller.

Survivors include his wife, Jannette; sons, Chris Fleck of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Tyler (Sonia) Fleck of Leander, Texas; granddaughter “daughter” Seciley (Chris) Keck of Plattsburg, Missouri; granddaughters, Marissa (Wesley) Jordan and Lourdes Fleck; great-grandchildren, Rowan Jackson Keck, Wesley Andrew Jordan and Wyatt Alexander Jordan; brother-in-law, Steve (Donna) Stiles; sister-in-law, Marilyn Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10:00 A.M. Saturday, Ashland United Methodist Church. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home &amp; Crematory. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to the Alzheimer’s Association. Paul Hedrick, 90, formerly of Merriam, Kansas, passed away Monday, February 6, 2023 in Beaverton, Oregon with his daughter, Susan and son-in-law, Bill at his side.

Paul was born May 15, 1932, in Atchison, Kansas to Gilbert and Eva (Keller) Hedrick.

As the youngest of three children, Paul grew up surrounded by a loving, extended family. The family were members of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints currently known as the Community of Christ.

While attending Atchison High School, Paul, his brother Myron, and sister Ruth participated in music. As a member of the marching band, Paul had fond memories of traveling by rail to New York City to march with the drum and bugle corps during the 1948 American Legion Parade.

Paul was a Boy Scout and earned the Eagle Scout rank while in high school. He was proud that his sons and grandsons also participated in Scouts, with one, Weston Hedrick, achieving the Eagle Scout award as well.

While growing up in Atchison, his father worked on the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He and his family enjoyed travel by rail, and his father helped create a love for model trains while Paul was a young boy. From that point on, wherever Paul lived, he designed and built an O-gauge model train layout. He enjoyed sharing his passion and running his trains for friends and family. This became an important hobby that he enjoyed well into his late 80s.

After high school, Paul earned an associate degree from the church affiliated Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. From Graceland, Paul enrolled at the University of Kansas and received a BS in Business Administration in 1954. While at KU, he played the snare drum with the KU marching and concert bands.

Most importantly, Paul met his love, Janice Mason of St. Joseph, Missouri, at KU. Upon graduating, Paul was drafted into the Army and stationed in Alaska during the Korean War. In 1955, he persuaded Janice to fly to Alaska in the dead of winter for a visit. While she was there, they were invited to a Christmas celebration with Fairbanks church friends, where he proposed to her.

His work-career encompassed many interesting endeavors such as finance, personal banking, real-estate, and operating a personal transportation business. In conjunction with these, he and Janice developed a large Amway distributorship from which they created long lasting friendships.

Paul was a Priest in the Community of Christ church, and the family attended the Mission Road congregation in Prairie Village, Kansas. As devoted members for 64 years, he and Janice served the congregation in many ways. For all those years he sang in the church choir which Janice directed.

Family togetherness and time spent with his children and grandchildren were his greatest joy: attending sporting or musical events, playing games, having family dinners together or just talking to them over the phone (even sending silly texts) filled him with happiness.

Paul and Janice had a loving and adoring 64-year marriage, and he cared for her until her passing on October 8, 2020. Paul continued to bring warmth and concern for all until his peaceful passing.

He was preceded in death by his wife Janice; his parents; sister, Ruth Bosshardt; brother, Myron Hedrick: and grandson, Grant Hedrick.

Survivors include his children, Stephen Hedrick (Mary), Russell Hedrick (Debbie), Douglas Hedrick (Maria) and Susan Rehm (William).

His grandchildren Mitchell Hedrick (Alison); Allison and Greg Hedrick; Hannah, William, and Christopher Rehm; and Mason and Weston Hedrick. One great-grandson, Lane Hedrick (Mitchell) and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life is set for March 4 at 1 p.m., at Community of Christ, 7842 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS 66208. This service will celebrate the lives of both Paul and Janice.

Gilbert Paul Hedrick 1932 - 2023

Marleen Mavis Clark, 72, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023.

Marleen was born on May 2, 1950 in Boston, Massachusetts to Mavis Louise Nieforth and Harold Gerard Costa, Jr. Marleen married Donald Sherman Clark on April 17, 1971 in Millis, Massachusetts. She achieved an Associates Degree in Accounting from KCKCC.

Marleen was the accounts receivable person for the University of Saint Mary. She resided in Leavenworth and Lansing, Kansas area for the majority of her life. Her hobbies include crafts and crochet.

Marleen is survived by her children, Jeff and Lisa Clark of Lansing, Greg Clark and Stephanie Nicholes of North Kansas City, six grandchildren, Lexie, Brianna, Jordyn, Andrew, Brady and Donald, and two siblings, Mary Cavender and Daniel Costa.

Marleen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Sherman Clark on August 7, 2010 and her son, Timothy Donald Clark in August of 2022.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with a funeral service following at 5 p.m. Burial will be on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Leavenworth National Cemetery at 9 a.m. with the procession leaving Davis Funeral Chapel at 8:30 a.m. to go to the cemetery.

David D. Biggins, Sr. passed away the evening of 2/9/2023 at his home in Leavenworth. He was surrounded by his loving family and beloved dog Elsie. David was born to Mildred and Jack Biggins on October 25, 1943. He is survived by Vickie Biggins, whom he was previously married to for 31 years; Also his 3 children with Vickie:&nbsp; Stephanie (Chris), David Jr., and Douglas (Theresa), several grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.&nbsp; &nbsp;He is also survived by his wife Merri Roberts of California.David was preceded in death by his mother Mildred Biggins, brother John Biggins, Jr., and sisters Elaine, Jackie and Debbie.David requested cremation, and no service.<figure>
