James E. Hardeway, 67, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023.
He was born on September 15, 1956, to Frank and Edna (Owens) Hardeway in Kansas City, Missouri.
He was a proud member of the National Guard and earned several honor awards during his service, including an award from Fort Leonard Wood. James was also a member of the New Life Baptist Church.
James was an avid KC Chiefs fan, with red being his favorite color. James had a caring heart and loved helping strangers. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was always smiling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Theresa Washington, and aunt Dorothy.
Survivors include his wife, Hurlicia Hardeway; son, Mekkos Beech (Jennifer); stepchildren, Lakeisha Gregorio, Marcus Young, and Stephanie Burton; siblings, Frank Hardeway Jr. (Doris), Lora Hayes, and Trilby Gillum (Allen); grandson, Malcolm Beech; 8 additional grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
