Donald R. Painter went home to be with the Lord on September 15, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends. &nbsp;

He was born in Saint Joseph, Missouri on September 10, 1926, to George and Rose Tindle Painter and lived all his life in the Saint Joseph area. He graduated from Lafayette High School where he participated in sports and was a skilled boxer, eventually boxing at both a semi-pro and pro level.

After graduation from high school, he served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He sailed on tankers in the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans. He was within sight of the USS Missouri when Japan signed the agreement to surrender, which ended World War II.

After the war, he returned to Saint Joseph where he met and married Louise Koneczny, June 25, 1952. He worked for the Railroad in the Corby Building in downtown Saint Joseph. During the Korean War he was drafted and served as First Sergeant on the front lines and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service.

After his discharge from the Army, he returned to his former job at the railroad in Saint Joseph. In June of 1956, he went to work at the American Angus Association as a supervisor. He was named Office Manger in 1958 and Director of Member Services in 1978. He was inducted in the Angus Heritage Foundation in 1992. He was a highly respected and valuable member of the executive team of the Angus Association where he retired in the spring of 2001.

Don was highly respected for his integrity and his strong work ethic. He cared relentlessly for his parents, his wife, and companion, Joyce Watts, in their times of need. He was a man who blessed many others with his generosity. He was a very private man who genuinely cared for others.

Don was an outdoorsman. Over the years he had cabins on area lakes and rivers. The last cabin was on the Missouri River where he enjoyed boating. He had several motorcycles. He was a pilot and owned several planes. Flying was the pastime he enjoyed most.

Don is preceded in death by his wife Louise, his parents, his brother Roy, and his companion, Joyce. He is survived by a special niece who cared for him in his home, many other nephews and nieces and many friends. Don requested no visitation or funeral services.

Ronald Forrest Lynn Zirkle, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023.

He was born October 28, 1936 in St. Joseph to Joseph and Margrete (Klawuhn) Zirkle. He grew up in St. Joseph and was a 1954 graduate of Central High School.

Ronald married Phyllis Starr on May 4, 1958. Together, they shared 65 years of marriage.

He proudly served his country for 32 years, first in the U.S. Air Force, then in the Missouri Air National Guard, retiring from the military in 1985. He also worked for Curtis Industries and Polsky Motors.

Ronald enjoyed spending time with family, visiting with friends as much as possible, and planning Labor Day family reunions at the farm.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Roger Zirkle and Roland Zirkle.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; children, Timothy and Terry Zirkle, Starr and Darryl Richardson, and Rod and Shelly Zirkle; six grandsons, Alexander and Gentry Richardson, Zachary and Kimberly Richardson, Colton and Leslie Zirkle, Dayton and Cassi Zirkle, Wyatt Zirkle, and Logan Zirkle; great-grandchildren, Grant and Audrey Richardson, Maverick Richardson, and Mallory Zirkle; sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

Virginia Ruth (Hazzard) Patee, 101, passed from this life on September 16, 2023. Virginia was born on June 17, 1922 in Gentryville, MO to Otis and Effie (Myers) Hazzard.

Ruth, as she preferred, graduated from Worth High School, Worth MO.

On December 20, 1941 Ruth married the love of her life, Major James C. Patee Sr. in Grant City, Mo. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2009.

Ruth and James worked on a farm in Isadora, MO where their first child was born. In July 1944 James answered the call and they began an amazing 20-year military career in the U.S. Army. Living in California, Kentucky, Hawaii, Germany and many other duty stations and as a military wife she embraced this life with all the strength, courage and love of supporting her husband as he served his country. Ruth and James retired in June1964 after 20 years in the Army.

They returned to St. Joseph, Mo where James started his second career with Sears Roebuck and Company while Ruth began her new life with 2 boys in college, 2 elementary aged girls and an infant son. They bought a beautiful house that had been neglected and together they worked tirelessly to make it their home. Ruth resided in their home for almost 60 years.

Ruth was an avid lover of all plants and animals. Feeding, studying and then educating us about her birds, there wasn’t an animal that didn’t love her nor a plant that she couldn’t make grow including her 60-year-old Angel Wing Begonia that is still thriving. An amazing chef, meals were always the highlight of any family gathering. In her spare time Ruth enjoyed reading, watching her “shows” and listening to Tommy Dorsey and Gene Autry country music.

Ruth was a member of the Order of The White Shrine of Jerusalem, as well as a 55-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star,

Her parents, siblings Ruby Allen, Reba Killen, Mary Chowning, Patricia Dunlap, Barbara Catron, Forest Hazzard, Roy Hazzard and great grandson Tyler James Merrill precede Ruth in death.

Charles "Chuck" V. Schott, a lifelong resident of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2023. Born on March 9, 1944, to Leo J. and Juanita M. (Barnett) Schott, Chuck was a kind-hearted man who touched the lives of many.

Chuck graduated from Christian Brothers High School. He went on to serve his country as a member of the Army National Guard. Following his service, he embarked on a fulfilling career with Mead Paper Products, where he worked for 30 plus years. His colleagues at Mead became a second family to him, and he cherished the camaraderie and friendships he formed there.

He was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals, and was a regular at the St. Joe Frontier Casino, where he enjoyed the thrill of the game and the company of friends. An animal lover, he found joy in the companionship of pets. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandson, Tate Buch.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Juanita, and his sister, Janet Corwin.

He is survived by his daughters, Kim, Kelly, Jennifer, and Heather; his grandson, Tate; his brother, Leo "Lee" Schott, Jr. (JoAnn); and his nephews, Matt, Mitch, and Mike, and niece, Mindy, along with numerous other nieces and nephews.

Frank John Byorick, 85, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 15, 2023, after a lengthy illness.

He was born on January 22, 1938, to Frank H. and Hermione D. (Wienczkowski) in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania.

He was a proud member of the United States Navy and later worked as a field manager for Wire Rope until retiring in 2001.

On February 27, 1960, he was united in marriage to Helen Irene Worley, with whom he shared 63 loving years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joan Schneider.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Helen; children, Michael Byorick (Patricia), Robert Byorick (Linda), Anne Bortz (Michael), Stephen Byorick (Sonya), and Mary Boos (Donald); sister, Janet Anderson (Dennis); twelve grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Havin Cole Marrant, affectionately known as "Cole", was born in North Kansas City, Missouri, on March 5, 2002, To Kevin D. Marrant and Jennifer L. Marrant Bingham. Cole's educational journey led him to graduate from Osborn High School Class of 2020. His passion for trucks and tractors led him to obtain his Commercial Driver's License (CDL) at the age of 18. He worked with local farmers and worked as a truck mechanic. He loved his current job trucking for Jimmy Downs. &nbsp;

Cole's memory will forever be cherished by his surviving family members, including his mother, Jennifer (Bruce) Marrant Bingham; his sisters, Alexa Samples and Camille (Daeton) Stevens, and his brother, Clayton (Kaitlyn) Marrant. &nbsp;His grandparents, Jack and Janet Tippit, were a source of immense love and support, and he is also remembered fondly by his Aunt Susanne (Aaron) Perkins, Uncle Mike (Sarah) Marrant, Cole’s niece, Serinna, and a soon-to-arrive nephew, Waylon, will carry forward his legacy, as will his numerous friends.

Sadly, Cole was preceded in death by his father, Kevin D. Marrant, his grandfather, Roy Dean Marrant, and his grandparents, Bennie and Margaret Kathryn Cox.

Havin Cole Marrant 2002 - 2023

Trisha Ferne Brady 53 of Plattsburg Missouri died Thursday September 14, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on January 16, 1970, in North Kansas City Missouri. She was a graduate of Plattsburg High School class of 1988 and a member of the First Christian Church Plattsburg. Trisha worked for Citi Corp Bank as a collection representative. Trisha Ferne loved her family and friends and animals. &nbsp;She loved to have fun!

Survivors include her husband Chris Brady of the home; her mother and father Nancy and Larry Webb of Plattsburg; two stepchildren Caitin Brady ( Charlie Muench) of Norristown PA; Austin Brady of KCMO; Brothers Tod (Kelly) Dodson of Kearney MO; Tim (Lisa) Dodson of Plattsburg MO; Travis Webb Denver CO; her niece Chistina (Nick) McElwee; nephews T.J. (Kayla) Dodson; Landon Dodson, Lance Dodson, and Kevin (Kim) Bullard. &nbsp;Brothers-in-law James K. (Loretta) Brady and their daughter Amy (Mark) Hamway. Trisha Ferne Brady 53 of Plattsburg Missouri died Thursday September 14, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on January 16, 1970, in North Kansas City Missouri. She was a graduate of Plattsburg High School class of 1988 and a member of the First Christian Church Plattsburg. Trisha worked for Citi Corp Bank as a collection representative. Donna M. Thonen, 87, of Hiawatha, KS died Saturday evening, September 16, 2023 at the Maple Heights Nursing where she had been a short time.

Donna was born December 6, 1935 in Hiawatha, KS one of nine children born to Guy and Mabel Watkins Corbet. She graduated from Hiawatha High School with the Class of 1953. Donna married Lawrence Thonen November 13, 1955. Donna and Lawrence loved to travel and took many trips over the years, whether it be touring the countryside with the occasional bus trip or taking a cruise. They celebrated 66 years together before his passing February 18, 2022.

During her working career, Donna could be found at the front desk of the Hiawatha Daily World. She would later go to work for the Savings and Loan Bank as a teller. Donna was also very involved in the community. She was definitely a people person and loved her friends. She was always on the go and didn’t sit still long. &nbsp;

Donna spent many hours volunteering at the Brown County Historical Society. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha where you would see her helping with potlucks and cooking and serving funeral dinners. She was also a member of the LWML.

She is survived by two daughters; Sherry (Alan) Ely and Sandy (Bob) Bowen both of Hiawatha, a grandson; Tyler Thieme of Topeka, KS, sister; Edna Mae Futscher of Sun City, AZ, and many nieces and nephews. &nbsp;

Donna was also preceded in death by her brothers; Veryn, Dallas, Dale, Murl, Arlan “Bud”, Kenneth, and Norman.

Friends may call the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Thursday until 5 p.m. that evening. The visitation is planned for Friday, September 22th from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha with Celebration of Life Services to follow at 11 A.M. Pastor Michael Dunaway will officiate. Interment will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha.

Randy Joe Boydston, 69, of Camden Point, MO passed away September 17, 2023.

He was born on June 25, 1954, to Ernest Raymond and Lela Maxine (Wright) Boydston in St. Joseph, MO. Randy grew up on the family farm in Camden Point and graduated in 1972 from North Platte High School.

On March 15, 1974, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Russell. After their marriage they lived in the Camden Point area where they made their home.

Randy farmed for several years until his retirement when he went to work for Clyde Hill. Clyde taught him all he knew about dirt work and running heavy machinery. After Clyde passed away, he continued to work for other contractors in the area.&nbsp;

Randy was a member of the Camden Point Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Lonnie Boydston and his sister-in-law Marti Boydston.

Randy is survived by his wife Cheryl Boydston; siblings, Carolyn Hepler and husband Charlie, Mary Park and husband Larry, and Dean Boydston; sister-in-law Linda Boydston; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Private family services will be held at the Camden Point Cemetery.

Randy Joe Boydston 1954 - 2023

Edna E. Coldsmith passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Gower Convalescent Center in Gower, MO. She was 95.

Edna was born May 1, 1928, in Weleetka, OK to William D. Howell and Theresa M. (Newmaster) Howell. Her family later moved to Okmulgee, OK, where she graduated high school in 1946. She attended the Texas State College for Women in Denton, TX, and transferred to The University of Tulsa, where she graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

She taught elementary school in Overland Park, KS where she met the love of her life, Donald C. Coldsmith in a social circle of friends. Edna and Don married on November 6, 1960, and blended their families, then added daughter Connie to the mix. They soon built a home in the country in Emporia, KS, where they enjoyed raising the girls, Appaloosa horses, chickens, and cattle. Although Edna loved the country life, it was never a good day for the person who tracked barnyard animal manure into the kitchen! She enjoyed being home while the girls were growing up, volunteering as a 4-H leader, cooking and sewing for the family, as well as running the household. Some of her most cherished moments were time spent at Camp Wood YMCA on outings with the Flint Hills Saddle Club, as well as pasture picnics in the Flint Hills of Chase County.

In 1970, Edna was diagnosed with breast cancer, having a radical mastectomy, and in 1971 became the first Reach to Recovery support person in Emporia for the American Cancer Society. She loved helping and encouraging other women with a similar diagnosis. She was active in the Lyon County Republican Women’s organization, where she served as co-president in 2002, and also enjoyed many years working the local election polls and boards, while continuing her work with Reach to Recovery.

In 1985, Edna took recertification classes, renewing her teaching certificate in 1986, and began substitute teaching on a regular basis. Her passion for the classroom then found her teaching 2nd grade full time at Neosho Rapids Elementary School, until her retirement in 1994. That same year, Edna was asked by the District Court system to serve on a committee and citizens review board for Social and Rehabilitation Services, which she was involved with for many years.

Edna and Don were very active in the First United Methodist Church in Emporia, leading a Sunday School class together each week. Her love for working with children then presented an opportunity in the form of La Esperanza mission school, sponsored by the church, and led by Edna. It was a supervised after school program for the Spanish speaking community in Emporia, and brought her so much joy. She was known as “Abuela”, or Grandma, to each of the children, as well as their families. During her time at La Esperanza, she enrolled in a “survival Spanish” class at ESU so that she could communicate more effectively, took them on a field trip to the Historical Museum in Topeka, and even took them to meet the Governor. After handing the reins to the new director in 2001, she continued to serve on the mission committee.&nbsp;

Edna loved to entertain, and people were always welcome at Edna and Don’s home in Emporia. Happy Hour was held every afternoon, and she could whip up a meal fit for company if someone dropped by unannounced, or if she’d planned it for weeks. She entertained many friends, family, dignitaries and assorted others over the years. One of her favorite dinner parties was held for the cast of the movie “Bad Company”, filmed in the area around Emporia and Chase County in the early 1970’s. Don was the cast physician during filming, and the family had gotten acquainted with members of the crew, including the main actor Jeff Bridges. Many of the attendees may still be trying to remember what all happened that night, and those that do remember are still laughing about it. Edna and Don also hosted the annual Sunday School Christmas party at their home, which was the highlight of the year for many of those in attendance. Who knew that a “church” gathering could be that much fun?

Edna loved to travel, and used to say that she must be part gypsy. She always enjoyed a good road trip, and she and Don had many of those together. It was a slow-paced way to see much of the country, and she drove while Don read to her the latest chapters of books he was writing, or other literature. Their favorite trips were to the annual convention of the Western Writers of America, held in different locations each year. Edna and Don had many close friends in that organization, and in 1990 she was selected to be on a panel of writers’ spouses on the topic of “Trails and Trials of a Writers Spouse”, which was a big hit because of the spark and pizazz she brought to the presentation. Other notable trips included a trip with family to Cancun, an Alaskan cruise, and even a trip to NYC for a book signing and some sight-seeing. While the girls were young, there were also many family road trips to the Deep South, the Gulf of Mexico, Washington DC, Colorado and all parts in between.&nbsp;

Everyone who knew Edna, knew what a character she was, and some of the traits that she will be most remembered for are her quick-witted sense of humor, and her contagious laugh that would light up a room. Edna was diagnosed with dementia in 2011, and throughout the remainder of her life, she continued to live happily, sharing her smile with everyone, and bringing many smiles to the faces of her caregivers. She was a 53-year breast cancer survivor, she had Covid twice, and other health conditions that appeared to be impossible to overcome throughout her life. She even seemed to choreograph the final week of her life by allowing plenty of visits from family and friends, sharing smiles, winks and facial expressions that those closest to her will cherish forever.&nbsp;

Edna is survived by daughters April Abril, and Connie Lorenzen, Don’s daughters Carol (Tenney) Smith, and Glenna Coldsmith; grandchildren Nathan (Tia) Edwards, Lacey (Travis) Taylor, Heather (Tyler) Coldsmith Young, Zachary Donald Young, Cassidy (Joe) Toeniskoetter, and Christian (Jessica James) Whayne; 5 great-grandchildren, with a 6th due in November.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents, and sister Jeanne (Randolph) Rhoads, and Don’s daughter Leslie (Richard) Whayne.

Edna’s family would like to express gratitude from the bottom of their hearts to the angels at Gower Convalescent Center, and Three Rivers Hospice for the amazing care that they have provided over the years, as well as other caregivers at her previous facility who became lifelong friends.&nbsp;

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Edna’s life will be scheduled in the fall in Emporia, KS when family and friends can gather together in her honor.

She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was married to Bill Park on June 4, 1955, in Atchison, KS. 

Mr. Park preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1999.

Linda Bryant, 84. of Savannah, MO passed away Saturday September 16, 2023 at Gower Convalescent Center Gower, MO. She was born February 25, 1939 to Albert &amp; Lois (Chittle) Osmun. She married George Bryant in Yuma, AZ on October 23, 1955 and he preceded her in death in 2022. &nbsp;

Linda was a very creative person and enjoyed restoring antiques, making stuffed animals, gardening, was an avid reader and garage sale-ing. She also enjoyed family gatherings with her large extended family. She always focused on her family by being the glue that held them all together. We will see mom again soon in Glory.

Linda attended Woodson Chapel, Brookdale Presbyterian in St Joseph MO, and First Baptist Church Savannah.

Survivors include her children, Janine (John) McIntosh of Tremble, MO, Robert (Kim) Bryant of Pilot Grove, MO, and Daniel (Marisol) Bryant of Country Club, MO; Sister, Beverly Bunch of Lacey, WA; grandchildren, Michael Shelton, Nathan Shelton, David Bryant, Zoe Bryant, Ella Bryant, Cassandra Carter, and Robert Bryant. Minnie L. Haenni, 89, Savannah, passed away peacefully on Sept. 16 at her home surrounded by family. Minnie was born on November 23, 1933, to Julius C. and Minnie (Jann) Bunse. She graduated from Clarksdale High School. She married Jack R. Haenni on February 15, 1958 and he preceded her in death in 2015.

Minnie was a beloved wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma and spoke often of how her family was everything to her. She cooked Sunday dinners for whichever family members could be there up until her health declined. She also lovingly tended to her annual flower and vegetable gardens which brought her great joy. She looked forward to each year’s bounty and spent countless hours canning vegetables and making jelly. She was a wonderful neighbor and friend to many. Minnie was a member of the Savannah United Methodist Church.

Surviving family includes: brother Wilbur (Barbara), St. Joseph; sons, Randy, Savannah and Jim (Stephanie), St. Joseph; daughters, Lori Mitchell (Mark), Tarkio, and Serena Loving (Michael), Smithville; eleven grandchildren, Elise Haenni, Beth Ann Kerns (Zach), Grace Haenni, J.R. Mitchell, Jacob Mitchell (Brittany), Christopher Mitchell (Allison) Sophia Henry (Blake), Lily Loving, Maggie Loving, Lucian Haenni, and Harper Haenni; great- grandsons, Raymond and Andy Mitchell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Loris, Charles, and John, and great-granddaughter Willow Henry.

Frank Lee Gibson 70, of Agency, Missouri, passed away surrounded by the love of several family members on Friday,  September 15, 2023 at his home. He was born August 25, 1953 in St. Joseph, Missouri, son of the late Pauline &amp; "Bud" Franklin Gibson. 

He worked at Johnson Controls, and enjoyed  hunting, fishing, spending time with family and friends, going to bingo, junking, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs play. 

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, Elizabeth, son, Lyle Ray, brothers: RD Bo, Dennis "Denboy", Ray, and Ernie Gibson, and a sister, Jackie Sue Gibson. 

He is survived by two sons: Frankie Leroy Gibson and Joe Kerns,  daughter, Kristine "Krissy" Galvan, brother, David Gibson, sisters, Teresa Jean Goldizen, Tammy Shelter, and Brenda Severson, grandchildren, Dylan, Bailey, D.J., Tiffany, Colton, Faith, and Amanda, several great grandkids, and nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

John Andrew Lutz, son of John and Barbara Lutz, was born on June 10, 1989. Always an avid sports fan, he loved the Chiefs, the Royals, and the Jayhawks. He was a dedicated student and friend to many.&nbsp;

He met the love his life, Kayleigh, and they were married in 2011.&nbsp;

Just before then, John was diagnosed with a brain cancer. After numerous surgeries and countless hours of treatment, he made a strong recovery. He and Kayleigh have been blessed with three wonderful children: John Jude, Logan, and Gemma.&nbsp;

In the summer of 2022, John’s conditioned worsened. On September 17, 2023, surrounded by family and fortified with the Sacraments, John passed from this life to his Father in Heaven.&nbsp;

He will always be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor, and his love of family and friends. John fought hard till the end and he will be missed by so many.&nbsp;

Visitation 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Tuesday, September 19th at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with rosary 11:30 AM and funeral mass at 12:00 PM.

Ann Louise Pile Stephens passed away peacefully on Friday, September 15, 2023 at the age of &nbsp;84. She was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Glen and Louise Pile on January 5, 1939. 

She graduated from Christian College in Columbia, MO and married the love of her life, Glenn William Stephens Jr. and they had three children. 

Ann was active in the St. Joe community for over 60 years &nbsp;including &nbsp;the Junior League of St. Joseph, PEO, and a successful realtor with Coldwell &nbsp;Banker. She was a great cook, an avid reader, enjoyed crafts of all kinds, gardening, history, storytelling and most of all animals. A pack of well-loved dogs would always greet you when you rang her door bell. Ann was a natural leader and very spirited. She lived life her way as the Frank Sinatra song says. &nbsp;&nbsp;

She is survived by her sister, Cookie Ready from Colorado; daughters Kathie Stephens of North Carolina and Cindy Santens of Japan; daughter-in-law, Diane Lindgren of St. Joseph; grandsons &nbsp;Josh Fasching, Ray Lindgren, Matthew Santens, and Mark Santens; granddaughters Emily Fasching and Kelly Lindgren; seven great grandchildren; nephew, Bradley Ready, and an extended family Zach, Sarah, Jackson, and Taylor Morton in Savannah. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenn &nbsp;and her son, Sarge Stephens.

David Davenport 69, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023 at his home. He was born January 7, 1954, son of Berbie and Edward Davenport. 

He graduated high school in Versailles, MO. He worked at Acme Vending for 28 years, and later Triumph Foods. Dave enjoyed bowling, playing league bowl for many years, and he also enjoyed mushroom hunting. 

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Jimmy Davenport and Sandra McKinzie. 

Survivors include: wife of 28 years, Patt Davenport of the home, 2 boys he raised, Chris and Travis of St. Joseph, his siblings, Ruby Davenport of Versailles, MO, Hershal Davenport of Versailles, MO, and Charles Davenport of Gravois Mills, MO, and granddaughter, Mallory Sherlock of St. Joseph.

Tom worked many years at General Mills. He was often referred to as "Tom Turkey". He enjoyed going fishing and hunting, bowling, and playing cards and horseshoes. &nbsp;Tom also was an excellent cook. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Cheryl Orr, and daughter, Paula Miller.

Helen Maxine Evans Young died on September 15, 2023 at LaVerna Senior Living, Savannah, MO. She was born March 3, 1926 in King City, MO, to Everett and Stella (Williams) Evans, who proceeded her in death. 

Maxine graduated from King City High School in 1944.On April 8, 1949 she married Russell E. Young. They were married for 60 years, living all their married life in St. Joseph, MO. Russell proceeded her in death on May 14, 2009.Maxine worked at three local banks, retiring from American Bank after 30 years. She then retired from K-Mart in 2002. She also volunteered for InterSery and Kendallwood Hospice. Maxine was a member of the Robidoux Rebekeh Lodge for 38 years, having held several offices. Maxine was of the Christian faith.

She was proceeded in death by her brother, W.D. "Bill" Evans and his wife Helen, sister, Geraldine Bracken and her husband Charles, brother-in-law, Marion Spiers, and son-in-law, John Hood. 

She is survived by three daughters; Jacqueline Zimmers, Powhattan, KS, Constance Rankin and husband Michael, St. Joseph, MO, and Marilyn Rodriguez-Hood, St. Joseph, MO. &nbsp;Seven grandchildren; Vickie (Barry) Schuetz, Rhonda (Caleb) Crook, John (Candice) Zimmers, Christina (Brad) Sievers, Trisha Rodriguez, Brandon (Kristen) Rodriguez, and Brittany Rodriguez. Nine great-grandchildren; Carolyn Schuetz, Alexandra Crook, Raven, Ava and Liam Zimmers, Abigail and Ava Sievers, and Crosby and Charleigh Rodriguez. Four step great-grand-children, Devon, Dennis, Vienna, and Scarlett Bruna. One great-great grand-daughter, Briar Chilcoat, and one great-great grand-son, Wyatt Tripp Huestis. Lena D. Adams, 85, Leavenworth, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023. Lena was born September 30, 1937 in Leavenworth, Kansas, the daughter of Gus R. Schonherr and Addie Knapp Schonherr. On December 31, 1953 she married James E. Adams, he preceded in death on June 10, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four siblings, and daughter in law, Darcie Adams.

Lena leaves behind her three children, Jim Adams, Tom (Kathleen) Adams and Denise (Billy) Dillon, five grandchildren, Katie (Doug) Bray, Allison (Jared) Rogers, Ryan Dillon, Molly (Ethan) Behne, Aaron (Baillie) Adams and five great grandchildren, Holly Bray, Nora Behne, James Adams, Myles Rogers, and Isaiah Adams.

Lena was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Women’s Eagles Auxiliary.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Council on Aging (Animal Program) &nbsp;P.A.L.S.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 P.M., Monday, September 25, 2023 at Davis Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be 11 A.M., Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Davis Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

David L. Stahl, 65 of Morrill, Kansas passed away peacefully at Stormont Vail Hospital on September 14th 2023, surrounded by his family.

David was born in Hiawatha, Kansas on October 27th 1957. He was the 4th of 6 children born to Larry and Darlene (Lehmkuhl) Stahl. David attended Hiawatha Schools, graduating from Hiawatha High School with the class of 1976.

He worked at MAC/Schenck Equipment for many years. David loved spending time watching his children doing things in life they enjoyed. His hard work and determination to never give up is something that was never unnoticed. He will join the love of his life with open arms.

He married Jane M. Spicer on January 18th 1978 in Fairview, Kansas. They had 43 wonderful years together. David is survived by his children: Eric (Kayla) Stahl of Sabetha, Jennifer (Seth) Hanes of Topeka, Jill (Stephen) Severin of Sabetha, Jodi (Dylan) Folk of Whiting; and 9 grandchildren: Katie, Brenden, Bayleigh, Tucker, Brody, Easton, Brylee, Ellie, and Tylee. Also surviving are his brothers, Art and Joe Stahl, sisters Leisa Stahl, Denise Pfeifer, and Sheri Lay. David was preceded in death by a grandson Bowen Neal Stahl.

David struggled with many physical conditions, but never complained. He lived the last few years for his grandchildren. David loved taking his grandchildren hunting and fishing. He was the best grandpa his grandchildren could have asked for. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and the family would like to encourage family and friends to attend his services in Chiefs gear.

Friends may call the funeral home after noon, Sunday. The visitation is planned for Sunday September 17th from 3-5PM at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha. The celebration of life service is planned for Monday September 18th at 2:00PM at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Richard Lehmkuhl, with burial to follow at the Cornielson Cemetery near Reserve, Kansas.

Timothy G. Davenport, 84 years old, of Atchison, Kansas, died September 14, 2023, at the University of Kansas Medical Center.&nbsp;

Tim’s life will be celebrated on Monday, September 18, 2023, at St. Benedict Church, with a rosary at 10 am followed by visitation until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to MH-MA or St. Benedict Catholic School, left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with whom cremation care has been entrusted.&nbsp;
