Jerre A. Halbirt, 81, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care. 

She was born January 20, 1940 in St. Joseph, daughter of Dannette and A.D. "Tommy" Thomson. She attended Sacred Heart High School. Jerre loved spending time and taking care of her family. 

Jerre was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband, Donald Halbirt, 2nd husband, Tommy Halbirt and daughter, Kimberley Watkins. 

Survivors include,children, Dawn Kretzer of St. Joseph, Jeff (Sharon) Halbirt of Houston, TX, Michael Halbirt of Phoenix, AZ, Deanie (Joe) Donovan of Des Moines, IA, Craig (Kathy) Halbirt of Scottsdale, AZ and Christopher (Janice) Halbirt of St. Joseph, brother, Thomas (Lorraine) Thomson of St. Joseph, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Ms. Halbirt has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. Inurnment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery will be at a later date. Memorials are requested to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Elsie Mae Edwards, formerly of St. Joseph, MO and resident of Union Star, MO since 1983, passed away peacefully in her home on September 10, 2021.

She is preceded in death by her husband Richard L. Edwards, brothers Walter, Paul and Earl Rich and sister Viola Griffin.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Rickey and Gail Edwards,&nbsp; grandsons Benjamin and Travis Edwards and daughter Teri Nigh as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Elsie worked for many years at Chase Candy Co. and later at St. Joseph State Hospital.&nbsp; She was a member of the Union Star Baptist Church.

A caring, generous and outgoing person, she was well known in the Union Star community.&nbsp; She will be missed by many.

The family would like to thank all the friendly and caring people of the community, friends and extended family who helped Elsie to be able to remain in her home until her passing, as was her wish.

Services will be held Saturday, September 18th at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph.&nbsp; Viewing will be from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM.&nbsp; Memorial service at 11:00 AM followed by a graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph.

Edwin “Ed”&nbsp;&nbsp;Pauly, 66, of St. Joseph, Missouri died Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Mosaic Hospital in St. Joseph.&nbsp;

Ed was born in Wathena, Kansas on March 18, 1955 to Harold and Patsy (Bruns) Pauly.&nbsp;&nbsp;He grew up in Wathena graduating from Wathena High School in 1973. Following graduation he served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 22 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;After his military career he was a chief engineer on a Casino boat.&nbsp;

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and longtime girlfriend, Tina Harris.&nbsp;

Survivors include his 2 brothers; Rocky and Andy Gillpatrick both of St. Joseph, Missouri&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Nieces, nephews, step-children and many grandchildren.&nbsp;

Robert (Bob) Dean Hirsch, Sr (Pup) passed away September 13th&nbsp;at Amberwell Hiawatha, Hiawatha KS. &nbsp;

He was born February 8, 1932 in Fairbury, NE, the second son to Alvin Carl and Veda Mae Hirsch.&nbsp; The family moved to Powhattan when he was 8 years old where Bob attended Powhattan Grade School and graduated in 1950 from Powhattan High School.&nbsp; Bob had a football scholarship to play at Kansas State University, but due to an injury he lost his scholarship.&nbsp; He joined the Kansas Army National Guard in 1949 and served over 30 years with 154th&nbsp;FA BN &amp; 2nd BN 130TH&nbsp;FA, retiring with a rank of CSM and 10 years in the Retired Reserves.&nbsp; He was mobilized in 1968 with the 69th&nbsp;Bde to Fort Carson Co where he volunteered to serve in Vietnam.&nbsp; He was inducted into the Ancient Order of Saint Barbara of the Field Artillery.

On December 6th, 1953 he married the love of his life, Barbara Harvey, to this union were 6 children.&nbsp; They spent the majority of their lives in Powhattan KS, where he worked many years for Bartley Grain Elevator, Brown County Coop, and later the Robinson Coop.&nbsp; He was very active and dedicated to his church, community and country. He was a lifelong member of Powhattan United Methodist Church and longtime Powhattan School Board member, where he served as president for many years.&nbsp; He was a member of Hiawatha Elks Lodge 1741 and later Atchison Elks Lodge 647. where he served many years on the Kansas Elks KETCH board, was District Deputy for the National Grand Lodge of the Elks and coordinated many hoop shoots.&nbsp; He was a member of Hiawatha Masonic Lodge #35, Life time member of the Powhattan American Legion Wenger Post 373. Life time member of Sabetha VFW Post 7285.&nbsp; In his later years he got involved with making Sleeping Mats for homeless vets.&nbsp; He continued this until his hands wouldn’t let him due to arthritis.

Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara, Daughter in Law Susan Hirsch Netawaka, Peggy (Rick) Hutchison Wakarusa KS, Fred (Joan) Abilene KS, Terry (Jean) Hiawatha KS, and Ron, Sabetha KS. Celebration of life service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 17, 2021, at the Powhattan United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Interment will follow with military honors at Powhattan Cemetery.

Sylvia M. Wallner, 97, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away September 10, 2021.

Sylvia was born January 6, 1924 in Stanley, Tasmania, Australia, the daughter of Albert and Margaret (Muir) Horton.

She joined the WAAF (Women’s Auxiliary Air-force) from 1942 to 1944. On a ship from Australia in 1946 she came to the United States of America and became a citizen five years later in 1951.

On May 15, 1959, she married Markus Wallner. The couple lived in St. Joseph all their married life.

Mark and Sylvia loved to travel. They took many trips to Las Vegas, two to Australia, and one to Germany. They also loved air shows and traveled to many around the country.

They had an amazing garden at their home and shared with the family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack; and husband of 57 years, Mark.

Sylvia is survived by her children, Merlene Jones of Plattsmouth, NE, Dianne (Dennis) Gillespie, of Omaha, NE, and Merle (Pat) Derry, of Lincoln, NE; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Bert (Shirley) Horton of Tasmania, and Max (Judy) Horton of South Australia; and many nieces and nephews.

&nbsp; John Fostek Sr., 74, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. 

He was born October 30, 1946 in Germany, son of Maria and Stefan Fostek. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School, class of 1967. John was a U.S Marine Corps Veteran. He worked at Mead Products and later Triumph Foods. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, especially with his grandson, painting, drawing, going to the shooting range. John was also a Halloween enthusiast. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Mikola, Nicholas, Steve and Bill Fostek. 

Survivors include, son, John Fostek Jr. of St. Joseph, daughter, Laura Fostek of St. Joseph, step-daughter, Lesley (Michael) Gill of Norwalk, IA, siblings, Mary Reichert of Centrailia, MO, Greg (Pam) Fostek of St. Joseph, Anna Wolf of St. Joseph, grandchildren, Zane, Michael, David, Ayden and Selena and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gordon Lee Raker, Jr., 67, of Amazonia, died September 12, 2021.&nbsp; Lee was born January 8, 1954 in Clinton, Illinois to Gordon Lee Sr. and Harriett Frances (Hudson) Raker.

Survivors include friends Kevin, Angie, Cody, Seth, Michael, and Gabriel Hummer, and Jeff Luin.

He enjoyed wood working, drawing, and being with animals.&nbsp; He went to Panama with the Peace Corp, and traveled all over the Midwest for work as an iron worker. &nbsp;He was a man of true character and very trusting of other people.&nbsp; Lee was a long time supporter of the outdoors and nature.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the home of Kevin and Angie Hummer, &nbsp;8675 State Route T; Amazonia, MO&nbsp; 64421.

Cheryl Anne Botts, 73, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021, at her home after a lengthy illness.&nbsp; Cheryl was born July 28, 1948 in St. Joseph to Philip N., Jr.&nbsp; and Florence (Thompson) Johnson.

She was a 1966 graduate of Troy HIgh School.&nbsp; She had worked as a nurses aide for the State Hospital, Sisters Hospital and Methodist Hospital all of St. Joseph.&nbsp;

Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother Dink Douglas.

Survivors include her companion Ethan H. Mabin; aunt Pauline Johnson; numerous cousins and friends.

She enjoyed watching soap operas, traveling, knitting, movies, cooking, pottering, and loved going to garage sales and estate sales.

The family would like to thank Mosaic Hospice, nurses, and doctors, that took part in her care.&nbsp; The family requests that masks&nbsp;be worn&nbsp;to the service.

David M. Dishon, 71, of St. Joseph, Missouri formerly of Troy, Kansas passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

David was born on October 26, 1949 in Elwood, Kansas to Robert and Doris (Paden) Dishon.&nbsp; He graduated from Wathena High School, served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.&nbsp; David worked for Nash Fuel Transport as a fuel transport driver.

He attended Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church in St. Joseph, Missouri.

David married Marilee Gaither on March 23, 1974 in St. Joseph, Missouri.&nbsp; She survives of the home.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rex Dishon.

Additional survivors include his children; Stefanie Dishon (Jeremiah Horn) of Grain Valley, Missouri

Scott Underwood, 39, of Overland Park, KS, formerly of Atchison, KS, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021, at University of Kansas Health System. Celebration of life service will be 2:30 PM, Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS, with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as Celebrant. He also enjoyed watching sports and going to the lake. Scott was the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Operations at Orizon Aerostructures, Kansas City, MO. He loved his family, and his children were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed watching sports and going to the lake. Grace Alice Frisch 91, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021 surrounded by her family, in Saint Joseph, MO. 

She was born September 11, 1930 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Bessie and Henry Brewer. She attended Central High School and was the church secretary for the King Hill United Methodist Church and Wesley United Methodist Church. Grace was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout Leader, Past President Benton PTA, she enjoyed working hard in her garden, bowling and won the most improved bowler award, she was a big Jeopardy fan, and enjoyed writing poetry, but most importantly she loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. 

Grace was preceded in death by husband, Gordon Frisch, her parents, son, Eric Frisch, brothers, Ben, Otto, Emmons, Lewis, Kermit, Floyd, Lee &amp; Ellis Brewer, and sisters, June McCrea, Gladys Broomsfield, and Lavelta Cardiff, and son in law, George Oliver Horner.

Nadine Yocum Bowman, 89, passed away peacefully on the early morning of September 13, 2021 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Nadine was born October 7, 1931, in Santa Rosa, Missouri and was the youngest of seven children.&nbsp; She lived in northwest Missouri most of her life.&nbsp;&nbsp; After graduating from Lafayette High School in St. Joseph, MO, she moved to Kansas City to attend business school and then to work as an executive secretary to the commander at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base.&nbsp; Then she married her husband, G. Ralph Bowman in July 1957, moved to the Savannah, MO farm and started a family.

Nadine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, G. Ralph Bowman; her darling granddaughter, Megan Cobb; her brothers, Gerald, Lloyd, Lynn and Lother; her sister, Elsie Meers; and her parents, Perry and Sarah (Huff) Yocum.

She leaves behind her children, Gina Bowman, Kansas City, Nathan and Jeni Bowman, Savannah; Stacey and Bob Cobb, Savannah; her grandsons, Marcus Cobb and Cy Bowman; her sister, Bonnie Lavonne Sunstedt, Antelope, Montana and many adored nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Savannah, serving as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher; she enjoyed playing bridge and other activities with her many friends; enjoyed helping others and making a difference in the lives of those in need.&nbsp; She volunteered for girls scouts, boy scouts, PTA, curricular school activities.&nbsp; She was instrumental in raising money for a major burn unit in a local hospital and helping with the beginning of Head Start in Andrew County.&nbsp; Most of all, she enjoyed being a mother and grandmother, she enjoyed having fun, laughing and making others laugh.

The family invites you to a Graveside Service 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the Savannah Cemetery.

Alma Beth Faires, 98, Savannah, Missouri went to her heavenly home Saturday, September 11, 2021.

Born September 30, 1922 at home near Barnard, Missouri to Loren and Opal Turner.&nbsp; Beth as she was known, was the first born and three sisters followed. Beth was raised in that area and graduated from College High School in Maryville.&nbsp; That same year she met and married her husband, Donald Eugene Faires.&nbsp; They were married June 22, 1939.&nbsp; They were parents of Jean, Jim and Jerry.&nbsp; They bought a farm in Rosendale where they lived their life until Donald passed away in 1992.

Beth then moved to Savannah, Missouri where she lived the next 29 years.&nbsp; Beth became very active in the community.&nbsp; Volunteering at the museum, member of the Rosendale Garden Club, and loved her time with other ladies in the community quilting.

Beth was a wonderful and talented seamstress, making clothes for all of her granddaughters from infants to young ladies.&nbsp; Beth was also a fabulous cook and baker.&nbsp; Her family loved everything she made with her loving hands.

As a lover of flowers there was not a variety that she could not put her magic hands on and make them thrive.

Beth was able to celebrate all three of her children's 50th wedding anniversaries which was such a blessing to all of them.

Beth's life will be forever cherished by her children, Jean (Faires) Allen, Jim Faires, Jerry (Sonnie) Faires; granddaughters, Shelley (Faires) Wilcox, Cindi (Faires) Misak, Pamela (Allen) Emmerich, Kara (Faires) Peek and Kandice (Faires) Ray, their spouses; her seven great-grandchildren, her sister, Fern Tibbles and nieces.

Carol Ann Brower, 59, died September 9th, 2021 at her home after a long and tenuous illness.&nbsp;

Carol was born July 28th&nbsp;1962 in St Joseph, to Donald and Margaret Lambing.

She was born and raised in St. Joseph.&nbsp; Carol graduated from Bishop LeBlond High School in 1980.

In May of 1990, Carol married Gregory S. Brower, who survives her of the home along with her son Preston Brower.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents.

&nbsp;Surviving are her sister Donna Lambing and her brother Donald Lambing, along with numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Carol was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in St Joseph.

Carol loved her family, friends, and her puppies.&nbsp;

Carol retired from Lamar Outdoor Advertising (selling those darn billboards, her dream job) in Jan 2016.

Now, the fun part:&nbsp; Carol was an energetic, caring, and loving person who touched everyone who ever met her.&nbsp; Her contagious smile, attitude, and faith, even through the toughest and darkest of times, were what made her who she was and why we all loved her.&nbsp; She had a fire there that lit everyone up or in a case or two, burned it all down.&nbsp;&nbsp; We will all miss her dearly!

Joan Lavon (Giles) Clayton, 73, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021.

On March 29, 1948 she was born to Joseph William and Lois Lavon (Preston) Giles in Mount Moriah, Missouri.

Joan married Otto Clayton, he precedes her in death.

For 28 years, she was a dispatcher at the St. Joseph Communications Center.

Joan was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police NWMO Lodge 3. More than anything she enjoyed taking care of her children and grandchildren and watching them play sports.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Terry Clayton; daughter, Michelle Lynn Clayton; grandsons, Jacob Ryan Clayton and David Lee Burns; brothers, George William “Butch” Giles and Gordon Leslie “Bub” Giles.

Gerald “Jack” H. Weishaar, 95 of Nortonville, KS, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.

Jack was an avid farmer, who raised cattle, pigs early on in his life along with being a row crop farmer. He loved raising animals and taking care of them along with showing his children the necessities of making sure the animals were given good care and it takes hard work for the animals to grow and be ready for market. The farm was his livelihood and his success of raising good animals and having good crops was his passion. Jack took great pride in his work while instilling the proper values in his children and raising them well by proper examples. Other things he took great pride in during his long life were straight rows of corn &amp; beans, good looking Angus cattle and Hampshire hogs, while maintaining his well-maintained homestead. His life evolved around farming &amp; being a true “Steward of the Land” as evidenced with his Soil Conservation Award he received in 1992. Jack basically did most of his own work on the farm with the help of his children while they lived at home. When it came to constructing buildings or maintaining farm equipment, he did most of his own work. He also liked to grow a big garden where much of the food was grown and raised on the farm. He worked well into his eighties. He didn’t want to give up farming, but still helped his nephew with items around the farm like driving tractors and other mild work. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus for 76 years. Jack married Freida Noll on December 26, 1956; she survives of the home. He is also survived by his children Randy and Sandy Weishaar, Flower Mound, TX, Rick and Debby Weishaar, Nortonville, KS, Russell “Rusty” and Lori Weishaar, Wathena, KS, Glen and Rebecca Weishaar, Nortonville, KS, Deb and Mike Reagan, Rushville, MO, a brother William Weishaar, Nortonville, KS, seventeen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Chris Weishaar, a brother, Harold Weishaar, five sisters, Ruth Forge, Dorothy Domann, Marceline Weishaar, Mildred Weishaar and Geraldine Weishaar.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Other things he took great pride in during his long life were straight rows of corn &amp; beans, good looking Angus cattle and Hampshire hogs, while maintaining his well-maintained homestead. His life evolved around farming &amp; being a true “Steward of the Land” as evidenced with his Soil Conservation Award he received in 1992. Jack basically did most of his own work on the farm with the help of his children while they lived at home. When it came to constructing buildings or maintaining farm equipment, he did most of his own work. He also liked to grow a big garden where much of the food was grown and raised on the farm. He worked well into his eighties. He didn’t want to give up farming, but still helped his nephew with items around the farm like driving tractors and other mild work. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus for 76 years. Jack married Freida Noll on December 26, 1956; she survives of the home. He is also survived by his children Randy and Sandy Weishaar, Flower Mound, TX, Rick and Debby Weishaar, Nortonville, KS, Russell “Rusty” and Lori Weishaar, Wathena, KS, Glen and Rebecca Weishaar, Nortonville, KS, Deb and Mike Reagan, Rushville, MO, a brother William Weishaar, Nortonville, KS, seventeen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Chris Weishaar, a brother, Harold Weishaar, five sisters, Ruth Forge, Dorothy Domann, Marceline Weishaar, Mildred Weishaar and Geraldine Weishaar.&nbsp;&nbsp;<figure>

George “Bud” Kautz, who grew up on a farm in Atchison County and lived most of his life in Atchison, Kansas, passed away on September 9, 2021. 

He was 88 years old, born on January 15, 1933. His family was with him throughout his life and at the time his life here on Earth ended. George passed as he lived his life, surrounded by his three girls and JoAnn, his high school sweetheart and spouse of 67 years. He is survived by JoAnn, his children Kathryn Barrett, Leesa Willming and Janelle Kautz Hegarty, his son-in-laws Gene Barrett and Mark Hegarty, his grandchildren Kadi (and husband Joe), Michael, Blake, Spencer and granddog Bo, and his great-grandchildren, Landon and Luke. George’s family also included his son-in-law Bill Willming, brother Glen Kautz and his parents, George and Etta Kautz, who preceded him in death. His family loved him dearly and will keep in their memories and hearts his quiet way and selfless love and look forward to when they will be reunited with him in God’s Kingdom. George graduated from the Atchison County Community High School and proudly served in the Army during the Korean War, where he was elected to leadership school. After serving his country, George worked at the LFM foundry and Kansas Grain Inspection Department before joining the United States Postal Service. He retired from the Postal Service after 37 years. George and JoAnn stayed active in retirement, traveling, spending time with their family and volunteering for many years at the Atchison Hospital and delivering books to the homebound for the Atchison Library. In 2018, George and JoAnn received an award from the Northeast Kansas Library Association. George was also a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The Rosary for George will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Becker Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, 800 Kansas Avenue, Atchison, Kansas. Visitation will follow the Rosary until 8:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday September 14, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 705 Spring Garden Street, Atchison, Kansas. Peggy O'Neill Weigelhofer, 79, of St Joseph, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021 in St Joseph. 

She was born October 31, 1941 in St. Joseph, daughter of Evelyn (Scott) and Robert O'Neill. Peggy worked many years at Martin Marietta and later for the IRS as a computer analyst. Peggy's hobbies included ceramics and art and attending family gatherings. She also enjoyed traveling, especially the Florida Beaches and the Colorado Mountains. 

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Tina McCambry, sister, Janice O'Neill, and brother, Robert ONeill. 

Survivors include, son, Douglas (Karen) O'Neill of St Joseph, brother, Mike O'Neill and his partner Anna, of St. Joseph, her dogs and her companions, Baby and Layla, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Funeral services will be 6:00 pm, Monday, September 13, 2021 at Rupp Funeral Home, Pastor Leanna Van Zandt-Nauman officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday at the Rupp Funeral Home. A Private Graveside Service and Interment will be at the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Phyllis Koelliker, surrounded by family passed from this life into eternal life September 8, 2021, at her home in Hiawatha.&nbsp; She was 80.

Phyllis was born December 23, 1940, at Troy, one of two children born to James Daniel and Helen Margaret Garvin Hopkins and has lived in the northeast Kansas area nearly all of her life.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She grew up at Troy where she attended schools.&nbsp; Phyllis was a licensed cosmetologist, working with her mother Helen in the beauty shop they operated in Highland.&nbsp; She loved being around kids of all ages and cooking allowed that opportunity.&nbsp; She was a cook at Highland High School, and at Highland College Student Union for a while, and was a Head Start Teacher.&nbsp; She was dedicated to Gary and the kids.

Phyllis had the biggest heart!&nbsp; If someone needed help, she was there whether it was family, church, or community, you could count on her.&nbsp; She was a longtime member of the Community of Christ Church, where she cooked for Peacemakers.&nbsp; In her spare time, she loved to quilt and made one for the children and grandchildren.&nbsp; While quilting, the TV was on and she enjoyed Matlock and Perry Masson series.&nbsp; She read Amish books written by &nbsp;Janette Oke, and enjoyed making pizza, scotharoos and potato salad for family and friends.&nbsp; Phyllis also sang for several churches in the area as part of their service.&nbsp; It was always a date:&nbsp; the day after Christmas, she and the grand-daughters went shopping to spend their Christmas money!

She married Gary Koelliker, December 9, 1959, at the Fanning Church.&nbsp; They made Highland their home until just a few months ago when they moved to Hiawatha.&nbsp; An interesting note is an opportunity presented itself for them to be chosen to work &nbsp;for a time for Ewing &nbsp;and Muriel Kaufman in Kansas City:&nbsp; she cooked and he worked maintenance.&nbsp; Gary survives of the home.

Also surviving are her son Gregg Koelliker of Palmyra MO, daughters:&nbsp; Angie Cluck (David) of Highland, Julie Bachman (Jim) of Hiawatha, Grandchildren:&nbsp; Tyler Koelliker (Lora), Morgen Irvin (T.J.), Amelia Atkinson (Steven), Nick Cluck, Matt Cluck (Jennifer), Miranda Jensen (A.J.), Jordan Cluck (Tiara), Molly Wallenberg, Meghan McClintock (Tyrel), Michael Hurd (Michelle), Gary “Bear” Koelliker (Taylor), and Adam Wilmes.&nbsp; Phyllis was blessed also to have 22 great-grandchildren in her life and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Randy Koellker, a daughter Penny Koelliker and a brother James Daniel “Bud” Hopkins.

A Celebration of Phyllis’s eternal life is planned for 11 a.m. Monday, September 13, 2021, at Community of Christ in Fanning.

The family will meet with friends one hour prior to service.

Janice E. Dilley (Black), 77, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 6, 2021.

She was born December 3, 1943 in St. Joseph to Rev. William and Sylvia (Taylor) Black. She was raised in a Christian family. She played accordion at the church and had a beautiful singing voice as well.

Janice married Harold Dilley on December 14, 1973. He survives of the home.

She was a manager for rental properties in Texas from 1985-1993. She and Harold moved back to St. Joseph in 1993, where she worked for Heartland Hospital until 1996.

Janice loved holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, and loved playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Charlotte Walker; and brother, Billy Black.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Amber Evon Maxine Adamson, Tonya Dee Kirkpatrick (Shawn), and Carol Eugina Kilborn; stepchildren, Randy Eugene Dilley, Candy Marie Dilley, and Tonya Laray Dilley; brothers, Lloyd Black (Edith), and Joseph Black (Denise); 10 grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
