Cody Manuel Carreon 17, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 unexpectedly in a Saint Joseph, MO hospital. 

He was born June 5, 2003 in Kansas City, Missouri, and he was a Senior at Central High School. He was an amazing one of a kind human being who lit up the room when he entered. He was outgoing, ambitious, and was a rebel who loved to have fun, and he had a very bright future ahead of him. 

Cody is survived by father, Delfino Carreon, Saint Joseph, MO, mother, Lisa Randall, Raytown, MO, twin brother, Sonny Carreon, brothers, Kevin Carreon, Darrius Randall, and Jayel Randall, sisters, Angelina Randall, Lisa Carreon, Jessica Carreon, and Liz Carreon, and maternal grandmother, Marilyn (Dan) Gilpin, Lake of the Ozarks. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm on Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home, with Memorial Services following at 2:00 PM Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home, Mike Flowers officiating. She was born June 30, 1963 in Cameron, Missouri. She married Wally Hockaday on October 19, 1986, he survives of the home. She graduated from Cameron High School. She enjoyed doing what she loves, and lovin what she does. 

Deborah was preceded in death by her son, Wally Gene Hockaday Jr, grandson, Tyler Jacob Hockaday, mother in law, Geneva Stout, and father in law, Ralph Hockaday.

Marion Frances Keck, 103, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021, at her home.

She was born April 3, 1918 to Theodore and Frances Kaelin in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Marion married Donald L. Keck on June 5, 1943 in the chapel at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina. He died in 1989.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Cathedral Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society, the Ladies of Charity, the Runcie Club, The Opti-Mrs, a volunteer at the Food Kitchen and belonged to several bridge clubs. Marion was an avid world traveler, enjoying destinations such Jerusalem, the pyramids in Egypt and her time living in France, to name a few. Marion graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Elementary Education and taught at Neely and the last twelve years of her teaching career at Noyes School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Donald L. Keck; infant son, Bruce Keck; parents, Theodore and Frances Kaelin; and sister, Theodora Watgen.

Survivors include one niece, Diana Yearman (Darrell) and daughter, Clarissa, Elgin, Illinois; four nephews, Philip Watgen, Elgin, Illinois, Harold Keck (Marla), Dekalb, Missouri, Larry Keck (Sandra), Bella Vista, Arkansas and Sam Keck (Mary), Castle Rock, Colorado; and many loving family and friends.

She graduated from Central High School, and worked as an LPN at several local health care centers. Penny cherished her children and especially her grandchildren. She devoted her life to taking care of her son, she had a huge loving heart.

He graduated from Benton High School class of 1952 and University of Missouri-Columbia with a BA political Science 1958, and achieved his Juris Doctorate June 1960 from the University of Missouri School of Law. He married Charlotte Stamp on December 28, 1988 and she survives of the home. He was elected Buchanan County Prosecuting Attorney in November 1966 and after his term, opened his private law office and practiced law for over 50 years. He enjoyed tennis, bowling, target shooting, and golfing, where he scored a hole in one at Fairview golf course. Tom was a member of Knights of Columbus St. James Council, Missouri Bar Association, St. Joseph Bar Association, he was a member of the Patee House Museum Board, and a member of St. James Catholic Church. 

Tom was preceded in death by father, Jesse Duty, mother, Helen Lanoie, brother, John William Duty. 

Survivors include wife, Charlotte Duty of the home, sons, Greg Duty, St. Joseph, MO, and Jeff Duty, IA, daughters, Stacey (Scot) Calfee, Maryville, MO, Shawn (Randy) Stanton, Gower, MO, step son, Daniel (Sara) Stamp of Richmond, VA, 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and sister, Virginia (Greg) Martinez of Las Vegas, NV.

She was born August 8, 1931 to Martin and Grace Suhr on a farm outside of White Cloud, Kansas.

On June 11, 1950, she married Donald Wilson in Highland, Kansas.&nbsp; They made their home in St. Joseph, Missouri for 55 years.

She and Don loved to travel together and with their grandchildren.&nbsp; Don drove a semi his whole life.&nbsp; Esther rode with him his last 10 driving years.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen (David) Dunning, grandson Erik (Sandra) Dunning, granddaughter Elizabeth (Rico) and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Pearl (Nina)Breon and sister Dorothy (Tommy) Matz.

She requested a private graveside service.

Richard "Dick" Lionberger, 74, Savannah, Missouri, left his earthly home to be joined with the Lord on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.

Dick was born on October 17, 1946 in Chillicothe,&nbsp; Missouri to the late Clyde and Phyllis (Breeden) Lionberger.&nbsp;

On December 16, 1966 he married Linda Jean Meneely in Chillicothe, Missouri.&nbsp; They celebrated fifty-four years of marriage and to that union, two daughters were born.&nbsp; Dick was a devoted husband and father.

Dick was a man of tremendous faith, preacher of the Gospel and touched the lives of many congregations.

Dick was a member of Big Lake Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, cars and above all spending time with his beloved family.

Along with Dick's parents, he was preceded in death by three infant brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Linda, of the home; daughters, Holly Fletchall (Brent) and Shelly Dawn; sister, Lovie Lightner; grandchildren, Samantha Holm (Greg), Cassie Bryant, Shelby Carter, Bobby Bryant (Taylor), great-grandchildre, Kamden, Kaitlynn, Kaylee and Kadence Holm, Amiya Talbot, Rielynn Woods and numeous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service 1:00 PM Monday, May 3, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel, where the family will receive friends following the service until 4:00 PM.

She attended Benton High School and was a first generation college graduate earning her bachelor’s degree at Missouri Western State College. Her passion was working with children and had opportunities to do this in various roles throughout her life, while also leading Girl Scout troops, volunteering with church youth groups and playing softball.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Debby was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers Bob L. Hale and Ricky Hale. Survivors include her only child whom she referred to as her “pride and joy” Heather (Perry) Richmond, her husband Doug, and “grand-puppies” Bella and Gracie of Weatherby Lake, MO. Survivors also include sister-in-law Sandie Hale; niece Tammi Hale both of St. Joseph, MO, nephew Jeff (Irene) Hale of Hamilton, NJ; cousin Sandy (Larry) Hoecker of Surprise AZ; “California cousins” Donna and Gary Turner; extended family and friends, caregivers and the awesome Mosaic Hospice team.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Debby never met a stranger or was at a loss for words as she loved words - reading (especially the newspaper), playing crossword puzzles, writing poetry and she could even be considered a historian documenting every detail about every thing on every inch of paper or in text would use every emoji she could find! She was a fabulous artist drawing freehand, sketching with colored pencils, stamp art and painting.&nbsp; She loved playing board games, UNO, Yahtzee, Bingo and cards - especially 500 Rummy! She enjoyed music and always had it playing - but she truly enjoyed&nbsp; going to live concerts - especially when cowboys were singing country!&nbsp;

She was a nature and animal lover; and throughout the years enjoyed feeding the ducks at Krug Park, the floral views at Powell Gardens, and the architecture of Unity Village. But her passion was travel - and her favorite place was on the beach overlooking the ocean with her cocktail of choice - Mt. Dew!&nbsp;&nbsp;

Debby’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Heaton-Bowman Smith in St. Joseph, MO. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. with services to begin at 2 p.m.

She enjoyed music and always had it playing - but she truly enjoyed&nbsp; going to live concerts - especially when cowboys were singing country!&nbsp;She was a nature and animal lover; and throughout the years enjoyed feeding the ducks at Krug Park, the floral views at Powell Gardens, and the architecture of Unity Village. But her passion was travel - and her favorite place was on the beach overlooking the ocean with her cocktail of choice - Mt. Dew!&nbsp;&nbsp;Debby’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Heaton-Bowman Smith in St. Joseph, MO. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. with services to begin at 2 p.m.<figure>

Frances Rose Clark passed quietly with family at her side to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, in Lenexa, Kansas.

She was born February 27, 1929 in Union Star, Missouri to Kathryn (Weddle) and Lawrence O. Schildtknecht. Frances graduated from North Andrew High School in 1947 and earned her teaching certificate from Northwest Missouri State College.&nbsp; She married the love of her life, Paul A. Clark on June 12, 1949 at the Whitesville Baptist Church. They had a happy devoted marriage for over 66 years. She enjoyed teaching throughout her life as a school teacher, substitute teacher, 4-H leader as well as sharing the gospel of Christ as a Sunday school teacher and music leader.&nbsp; She was a member of the Whitesville Baptist Church, where she was pianist/organist for over 50 years,&nbsp;where she had many dear friends. She radiated positivity in all that she did.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Frances also loved to share the joy of music through piano lessons and had dozens of students whom she stayed in touch with over the years.&nbsp; She taught her students to play in their favorite genres. For several years she took a large group of students to Chillicothe, Missouri, for judging their skills by the National Piano Guild.&nbsp;

Her love of family, farm life and community resonated in all her activities.&nbsp; She had been a member of the Missouri Cattlewomen, P.E.O., and Daughters of the American Revolution.&nbsp;She was a doting grandmother and always treasured time with her only granddaughter, Andrea, and they shared a very special bond.&nbsp;

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Allen and son, Keith, sister, Marthalene Dowis, brothers, Argyl Schildtknecht and Lawrence Ray Schildtknecht; sister-in-law, Arthena Schildtknecht and brother-in-laws, Linwood Birkenholz and Bob Dowis.

She is survived by her daughter, Kristin Clark, Merriam, KS; daughter-in-law, Gloria (Doeschot) Clark, Hickman, Nebraska, granddaughter, Andrea (Alec Deardeuff) Clark, Rockwell, Iowa, brother, Paul Schildtknecht, Omaha, Arkansas; sister, Margaret Birkenholz, Hopkins, Missouri and sister-in-law, Martha Schildknecht and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family thanks all of her care managers at Sunrise Lenexa for their care and compassion over the past year and especially during Frances' last few weeks.

The family will receive friends 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at the Whitesville Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00 PM. Interment, Whitesville Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Whitesville Baptist Church.

Frances Rose Clark  1929 - 2021

Hiawatha lost one of their beloved teachers after a courageous battle with cancer.&nbsp; Chris Vitt, surrounded by his family, passed away peacefully April 28, 2021 at the Hiawatha Community Hospital.&nbsp; He was 59.

He was born in Colorado Springs, CO, December 14, 1961, one of four children of Greg and Barbara Beckenhauer Vitt.&nbsp; The family moved to Seneca where Chris grew up, attended schools and graduated with the class of 1980 at Nemaha Valley High School. As he was attending Emporia State University, he developed an interest in teaching.&nbsp; He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Emporia in 1984.

Chris came to Hiawatha and started teaching biology at Hiawatha High School which ended after 35 years of love and dedication.&nbsp; This became more of a passion of his, which was obvious as students loved to take his class.&nbsp; Through the years, he was always taking field trips not only locally, but out of the country to places like San Salvador and Bahamas.&nbsp;&nbsp; Chris was loved by students and teachers alike, along with the community.&nbsp; He had a love for nature, still finding time to fish, hunt, and play poker with the guys!&nbsp; His greatest love was his family.

He married Michelle Hummel, August 2, 1986, at Seneca.&nbsp; They made Hiawatha their home, raised their family with Michelle being a teacher at Hiawatha Middle School.&nbsp; She survives at home.

Also surviving are sons Jeremy Vitt (Melissa), Ryan Vitt, his parents Barbara and Greg Vitt, brothers Joe Vitt (Kim), Dave Vitt (Davina), brother in law Gary Graber, with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister Bernadette Graber, grandparents Margaretha &amp; George Beckenhauer, Florence Venetucci and Alfred Vitt.

A Celebration of Chris’s life is planned for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Hiawatha Memorial Auditorium, with Shane Spangler and Father Dan Gardner will officiate.&nbsp; Private inurnment at Powhattan Cemetery.

Caroline Lightle, 77, North Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021.

She was born August 14, 1943 in San Diego, California to Melvin and Fern (Dreyer) Woodcock.

Caroline married Donald Ray Lightle on September 28, 1963. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2018.

She started out as a hairdresser, then later worked as a purchasing agent for TWA/American Airlines for many years.

Caroline was an avid scrapbooker and shopper. She loved visiting with family and friends and helping others. She loved flowers and enjoyed planting them each year to create many beautiful displays. She regularly attended Northland Cathedral in Kansas City, North and fulfilled a lifetime dream of joining and singing in the church choir. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Phyllis; and brother, Stan.

Survivors include daughter, Stephanie Fray (William); granddaughter, Jessica Bye (Michael); two great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Woodcock-Counsell; and her two beloved cats.

She retired in 2015 after approximately 25 years. Mary Lou was a member of the Cummings Christian Church, the VFW Auxiliary, a member of the Lady Elks # 647, Atchison, the Lancaster Saddle Club and enjoyed quilting, sewing, bowling, gardening and yard work and attending the grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. She was active as a 4-H Leader for the Lucky Clover 4-H and in helping with the Veteran’s programs through the Elks and the KETCH Program. She was married to Gary Wilson on April 6, 1962. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son Dan (Misti) Wilson, Cummings, KS, a daughter Margie (Travis) McConnaughey, Valley Falls, KS, two brothers Bud (Kathy) Kirkham, Stark KS, and Harry Dean (Tossie) Kirkham, Valley Falls, KS, two sisters Beverly (Skip) Nitz, Cummings, KS and Nancy (Jim) Kenny, Palmdale, CA and three grandchildren Ryan (Cheyenna) Myers, Bethany (Tyler) Jacobson, and Bailey Wilson, and one great granddaughter Reese Nicole Jacobson.

Timothy Pritchett, 52, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at his home. 

He was born September 27, 1968 in St. Joseph, son of Sandra and Robert Pritchett. He attended Benton High School. Tim worked in construction, working with his father-in-law at Matthews Construction. He loved to fish, mushroom hunting, playing softball and coaching his kids ball teams. 

Timothy was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Davis. 

Survivors include, father, Robert Pritchett of St. Joseph, his companion for over 30 years, Sheila Matthews of St. Joseph, children, Sean (Ashley) Pritchett and Heather Pritchett of St Joseph, brother, Jeff Pritchett, 3 sisters, Andrea, Elorie and Colin, 4 grandchildren, Skyler, Kobe, Creed and Jessa, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Timothy Michael Pritchett  1968 - 2021

Kenneth R. Glauser (81) of St. Joseph, MO passed away at his home Sunday, April 25, 2021.&nbsp;

Ken was born March 13, 1940.&nbsp; He attended Neeley Elementary School until the 5th&nbsp;grade when he joined the workforce to help care for his family.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He served his country in the US Army where he received a Good Conduct Medal, and Expert (rifle) and Sharpshooter (m-14) medals as well.&nbsp; He also served as a Fire Crewman during his time in the Army.

After serving in the military Ken married the love of his life Frances Harriet Glauser.&nbsp; In his 30’s Ken obtained his GED from Lafayette High School &nbsp;He had a very successful career in Insurance Sales for Reserve National Insurance.&nbsp; Ken enjoyed collecting and selling antiques, playing poker and making others smile.

Ken was a very loving , caring and humorous man.&nbsp; Family was his number one priority, he raised his children, several grandchildren, as well as had a hand with several great-grandchildren.

Ken Is Survived by his wife Frances Harriet (Younger) Glauser;&nbsp; Sisters Shirley Myers and Joyce Glauser.&nbsp; Brothers- Jack Redmond; Sister-in-Law Mary Glauser.&nbsp; Daughers- Cynthia (Fox) Bennett, Dina (Nelson) Yager.&nbsp; Son- Jerry Nelson &amp; Teri,&nbsp; Grandchildren- Amber Fox &amp; Nate, Andrea DeSpain, Ashley(Smashley) DeSpain &amp; Brent, Aaron Coy, Misty Shade, Paden Nelson, Cole Yager, Chris Coy, and Jason Shade &amp; Sammy.&nbsp; Great-Grandchildren-&nbsp; Chloe, Sebastian, Rose, Collin, Andrew, David, Brenton, Jerzi, Sawyer, Thomas and Lexi. Ken was preceded in death by his mother Adelia (Beahler) Glauser, Granddaughter Christine Yager, Brothers John &amp; Carl Glauser, and nephew Carl Wayne Glauser.

Visitation will be Monday, May 3. 2021 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.&nbsp; The Service will follow at 4pm at the funeral home.&nbsp;

Kenneth R. Samuel J. Blythe, III, 92, of Highland, died unexpectedly April 27, 2021, at a care home in Newton, Kansas.

Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland after 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, where the family will meet with friends from I until 3 p.m.

A Celebration of Sam’s eternal life is planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at the Troy Baptist Church.&nbsp; Pastor Dennis Jennings will officiate.&nbsp; Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery, with military honors a courtesy of Dillon Bales American Legion Post, and the Brown County Veterans Honor Guard.

Sam was born August 17, 1928, in Atchison, Kansas to Samuel J Blythe Jr and Lucy Crawford Blythe, the oldest of four children.&nbsp; He attended Atchison schools, graduating from Atchison high School.&nbsp; He graduated from Ottawa University in 1950 and was immediately drafted into the U S Army, serving in Korea. He was severely injured by an incoming mortar and carried those injuries for the rest of his life.&nbsp; Following the release form the Army he lived and worked in San Antonio for several years and returned home to work with his father on the family farm in 1957.&nbsp; Sam continued to live with his father until his father’s death in 1979.&nbsp; Sam had a great passion for the Lord and was always willing to share his faith.&nbsp; In 1975 Sam began to pastor the Baptist Church in Sparks Kansas.

&nbsp;In 1980 Sam moved to Highland, Kansas and became involved in Midland Ministries where he served on the board. He had a great passion for the souls of young people and did volunteer service in several youth camps.&nbsp; During this time he began nursing home visitation where he would play familiar hymns on the piano.&nbsp; He continued this until he became a resident in Highland Healthcare.&nbsp; Sam was known for his generous spirit always willing to help someone giving them a hand up.&nbsp; He was awarded appreciation certificates by several nursing homes in the area and was honored by the Doniphan County Chamber of Commerce given the title of “Quiet Hero” which well describes Sam.&nbsp;

&nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother John Blythe, and sister Mary Blythe.&nbsp; He is survived by one brother Paul Blythe and eleven nieces and nephews.&nbsp; His friend Raymond Neibling who was an advocate for Sam’s care also survives.&nbsp;

Roy D. Johansen, 77, of Hamlin, died April 25, 2021, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.&nbsp;

Roy was born March 16, 1944 in Bingham, NE, one of eleven children of James and Edna Brammer Johansen and had lived nearly all of his life in Brown County where he attended schools.&nbsp; He joined the 2nd&nbsp;BN 130th&nbsp;FA, Kansas Army National Guard for which he served for over 18 years before retiring.&nbsp; Roy worked as a backhoe operator with the Gas Service Company for many years before retiring.

He married Marilyn Glenn January 1, 1965.&nbsp; They made their home at Hiawatha for several years before she died March 16, 1995. &nbsp;He was also preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Janette Jill, and a son Michael and his wife Laura.

Survivors include his son Jeff Johansen (Kim) of Topeka, two grandchildren, step son Matt Adam (Bonnie) with 3 step-grandchildren.&nbsp; He is also survived by his siblings:&nbsp; Jim Johansen, Hazel Hester of Burlington Junction, MO, Pat Davidson of Wymore, NE, Barbara Boyles, Betty Hayes, John Johansen, Sandra McClenny, Susan Mowry, Tom Johansen, all of Hiawatha, David Johansen of Nevada, MO, Eric Dreher of Kansas City, MO.

The family would like to thank the many who stopped to visit.&nbsp; Roy loved life, his many friends, especially those at the Sabetha Hospital and Brown County Law Enforcement. Once you became a friend of Roy’s, you were a friend for life! Roy was a “pay forward” friend and was often seen assisting others who needed him.&nbsp; He had a strong faith in God.&nbsp; He also was involved with scouting, and had been a scout leader.

Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, anything that had to do with being outdoors.&nbsp; He got great pleasure being able to pass on for example, his hunting skills, and watch it pay off….Roy got more excited than the hunter!!

Charles Dean “Charlie” Brockhoff, of Fairview, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, April 27, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital-KU Campus, Topeka.&nbsp; He was 63.

Charlie was one of three children born to Norman and Nancy Bloom Brockhoff, March 17, 1958, at Hiawatha, and was a lifelong Fairview area resident, attended Fairview grade school until they unified with Hiawatha, he then attended Robinson Middle School prior to graduating from Hiawatha High School with class of 1976.&nbsp; In his life, he was a ‘jack of all trades’.&nbsp; He spent his early years working on the family farm—Brockhoff Feed Yards, then a time at the Fairview Elevator, driving a semi along with having his own welding shop.&nbsp; The last 30 years he worked as manager of the Brown County Landfill.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Fairview; volunteer firefighter for the Fairview-Walnut Fire Department for 45 years, serving a number of years as Fire Chief.&nbsp; One of Charlie’s favorite ways to spend time was doing controlled grass burns for the fire department.&nbsp; He spent several years as a reserve officer with the Brown County Sheriff Department. His passions included hunting, mowing jobs, and re-building Cub Cadet mowers.

Charlie was quite the prankster, never knew a stranger, and loved being with friends whom he could tease and banter back and forth.

Survivors include a son Brad Brockhoff (Meagan) of Hiawatha, his mother Nancy Brockhoff of rural Fairview, a brother David Brockhoff also of Fairview, aunts Joyce Brockhoff, Diane Brockhoff, cousins Hazel, Cathy, Mike Brockhoff, and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp; His best friend was Pam Ukele of Sabetha.

He was preceded in death by his father Norman, and sister Teresa Althouse.

Lawrence F. Ruhnke, 81, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021.

He was born March 4, 1940 in Wathena, Kansas to Lawrence and Louise (Risner) Ruhnke.

Lawrence graduated from Central High School in 1959. He joined the Air National Guard June 16, 1959 and served until April 23, 1965. Lawrence married Myrna Barnett in 1963. They had two children, Marty and Kelly. He worked for TWA, then American Airlines for 36 years. Larry married Karen (Hertel) Powell November 19, 1994. She survives of the home.

He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Larry loved spending time with his family, especially all of his grandchildren. He took them for rides on his 4-wheeler and lawn mower. He was happiest being outside on a sunny day. Larry also loved to take family vacations.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Henry; numerous uncles, aunts, and many cousins.

Additional survivors include sons, Marty Ruhnke (Amy), Larry Mullen (Angela); daughter, Kelly Butterfield (Darren); step-daughters, Tonya Prater (Farryl), Tasha Goldesberry; step-son, Damon Powell (Crystal); sister, Evelyn Harr (Myron); brothers, Milton Ruhnke, Robert Ruhnke (Patricia), John Ruhnke (Mary Beth); sister-in-law, Dixie Ruhnke; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

John Louis "Louie" Thompson, 80, of St Joseph, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 at his home in St. Joseph. 

He was born July 23, 1940 in St. Joseph, son of Molly and John Thompson. He married Ruth Embrey on May 15, 1964 in St. Joseph. John was a self taught musician, and had a longtime gospel opry show. He also played country music shows in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska. He was a member of the former Highway to Heaven Church. 

John was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Jody Turner, Susie Smith and Shirley McKnight.

John Louis "Louie" Thompson, 80, of St Joseph, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 at his home in St. Joseph. He was born July 23, 1940 in St. Joseph, son of Molly and John Thompson. He married Ruth Embrey on May 15, 1964 in St. Joseph. John was a self taught musician, and had a longtime gospel opry show. He also played country music shows in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska. He was a member of the former Highway to Heaven Church. John was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Jody Turner, Susie Smith and Shirley McKnight. John "Louie" Thompson  1940 - 2021

Jean Renee Roach, 72, of Country Club Village, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. 

She was born October 14, 1948 in St. Joseph, daughter of Ruby and Howard Lawhon. Renee graduated from Benton High School, class of 1966 and married William "Bill" Roach on June 7, 1968 in St. Joseph. Renee had worked at Sinclair Realtors for 13 years and prior to that working at Far West Credit Union and St. Joseph Postal Credit Union. She loved to knit and crochet. She has made numerous prayer shawls, chemo caps and many other comfort items for people in need. She also loved spending time with her family and going on vacations. Renee was a longtime member of King Hill Christian Church, where she was a member Christian Women's Fellowship - Evening Circle and was currently a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. 

Renee was preceded in death by her parents. 

Survivors include, husband of nearly 53 years, William "Bill" Roach of the home, son, Brent (Mandy) Roach and daughter, Alison L (Chester) Brown of St. Joseph, honorary son, Robert (Kristin) Jenkins, grandchildren, Spencer Roach, Katie (Aaron) Cooper, Mary (Jason) Carden, Liam Roach, Ryan Roach, Brittnie (Keith) Morgan, Melissa Brown and Clayton (Mackenzie) Brown and 7 great-grandchildren.

Kelsey Michelle Patterson 27, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 in Saint Joseph. 

She was born June 26, 1993 in St. Joseph, Missouri, daughter of Brandee &amp; Mike Patterson. She graduated from Benton High School, class of 2011. She loved being a pit bull mom to Zahra, Ghost, and Cooper, helping anyone in need, but most especially loved spending time with her family. She met the love of her life Kyle Roland working alongside him at 54 Street Bar and Grill. They were engaged on Christmas Eve 2020, she loved the idea of spending the rest of her life with him. 

She is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Bert and Mary Patterson, and Aunt, Sherry Belinda Wooten. 

She is survived by her fiance, Kyle Roland, parents, maternal grandmother, Darlene Sampson, St. Joseph, MO, sisters, Brittany Rivera, St. Joseph and Amber (Chris) Hurst, Cameron, MO., brother, Jeremy (Kauri) Patterson of Stewartsville, MO, Uncle, Richard Patterson, Granbury, TX, Aunt, Vicki Cortellini, Midland, TX, five nieces and four nephews, and  numerous life long friends.

Cathy Ranae Bowman,&nbsp;67, Savannah, Missouri; passed away peacefully, Monday, April 26, 2021 at her home in Savannah, MO.

Cathy was born on January 12, 1954 to the late Russell Barnes and Mary (Patrick) Barnes in Albany, MO.&nbsp;

In addition to her parents Cathy was predeceased by her brother George Barnes; &nbsp;father-in law and mother-in-law Earnest and Mary Catherine Bowman, and a bonus granddaughter Stephanie Bradberry.

Cathy graduated from Savannah R-3 High School, Class of 1972.

Cathy married Walter Bowman on July 16, 1971, in the Savannah United Methodist Church.&nbsp; He survives of the home.&nbsp; Other survivers include her daughters:&nbsp; Amy Bowman (Billy Joe Jordan), Becky Bowman (Bill Kelly); Son, C. J. Bowman (Jessica).&nbsp; Grandchildren, Kaysha, Kirsten, Joshua, Jay, Macray, Jaden, and Jillian.&nbsp; Great-Grandchildren Jay Patrick, Brooklyn, and Paislynn.&nbsp; Sister:&nbsp; Ann Bougher. and nephew Ricky Bougher; niece, Erin Robertson.&nbsp; and Great-Nieces Taryn, and Laynie Robertson

Cathy is remembered from the Country Kitchen, Walter Brothers and 20 years at the Savannah License Bureau.&nbsp; She found joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, having fun at the casino, and reading on her Kindle.&nbsp;

Evelyn Kay Kiefer, 2 months old, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

She was born February 6, 2021 to Abby Plumb and Jacob Kiefer. Even at such a young age, Evelyn had a fiesty, fighting spirit with beautiful red hair.

Her parents will remember her sweet, adorable little feet. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Beverly Plumb; grandfather, Bob Coats; great-grandparents, John and Ramona Weiland.
