Mary Elizabeth (Jackson) Nigh was born in Oregon, Missouri on July 16, 1945. She was one of six children of Kenneth and Lottie Frances (Baker) Jackson. Mary graduated from Oregon High School in 1963.
She entered the United States Army Medical Corps in 1964 and served as an army nurse. Following her discharge, she worked for several hospitals including the VA Medical Center in Leavenworth, Kansas.
She also worked for the City of St. Joseph on the demolition crew.
Mary passed away on December 23, 2022 at the Oregon Care Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George and Perry Jackson; and granddaughter, Laney Nigh.
Mary is survived by her two sons, John (Marie) Nigh and Mark (Julie) Nigh, both of St. Joseph, Missouri; sisters, Patricia Quillen and Liliea Schultz of San Diego, California; brother, F. Kendall Jackson of Kansas City, Missouri; grandsons, Logan Nigh and Justin (Kristin Zides); niece, Heidi Jackson of Kansas City, Missouri; and great granddaughters, Rachel and Sarah Zides.
Mary has been cremated under the direction of Chamberlain Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held later in the spring.
