Robert Daniel Porter, 82, Atchison, Kansas died Sunday, December 25, 2022, at his home with his loving wife by his side. He and his wife resided in Dallas, Texas for a number of years until retirement when they moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and moved to Atchison, Kansas four years ago.
Robert was born September 13, 1940, in Houston, Texas the son of Granville Loomis Porter and Mary Elisabeth (Daniel) Porter.
Robert served as a mainframe programmer for MBNA Bank in Dallas, Texas for a number of years.
He served his country in the United States Army from February 1, 1961, until his honorable discharge on January 31, 1964, at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Robert and Carol Ann Rice were united in marriage on October 10, 1970, in Dallas, Texas.
He was a member of the Presbyterian faith. In his spare time and retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening and was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Carol Ann Porter, Atchison, KS; a son, Daniel Clay Porter, League City, TX; a brother, Granville L. Porter, Memphis, TN; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Erron Porter and a brother, John Clarence Porter.
No services are planned at this time. Inurnment will be at a later date in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Cremation care has been entrusted to the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.
