Thelma N. Geisen, 94, passed away Sunday December 4, 2022, in Kansas City MO.

Thelma was born in Easton, KS to Clarance and Nina Langley on February 26, 1928.

Thelma married Albert Geisen on September 15,1947, to this union were born 2 daughters Judy and Donna. Thelma enjoyed time with her family and bird watching.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Albert, and their lifelong friends Joe and Helen Bristow.

She is survived by her daughters Judy (Benny) of Easton, KS and Donna (Cameron) of Basehor, KS, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and a special niece Carol and her husband Gary, and all her family of friends at Twin Oaks Independent Living.

Services will be held Wednesday December 7,2022 at Davis Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be at 11:00am and funeral services will follow at 12:00, burial will be at Bethel Cemetery following services.

Jimmie R. Roan, 51, of Leavenworth, Kansas passed away on December 1, 2022.

Jimmie was born on May 16, 1971 in Worland, Wyoming to Betty and Jack Roan. Jimmie married Shandolyn Shipers on June 17, 2014 in Leavenworth, Kansas. He acquired an associates degree of Criminal Justin in Wyoming.

Jimmie worked as a correctional officer in the Leavenworth Federal Prison.

Jimmie resided in Wyoming, Korea, Kansas, Arizona. Being in the Army we travel and lived in many places. Jimmie retired as a Staff Sargent in the United States army in 2014. He achieved many awards and recognitions through this.

Jimmie loved to fish and play Call of Duty on the PlayStation. Jimmie attended the Church of the Latter Day Saints.

Jimmie is survived by his two daughters, Angela and Alexis, his parents, &nbsp;ex-wife, Shandolyn Roan of Platte City, and his best friends and co workers, Ralf Bruning and Jeff Richardson.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Leavenworth County Humane Society.

Stewartsville, Missouri…William “Bill” Patrick passed away suddenly on December 1, 2022.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was enjoying a nice evening with a friend and his family and friends are grateful that he was not alone.

Bill was born on April 15, 1949 in Dallas, Texas to Thelma and William Patrick, and later moved to Minnesota.&nbsp;&nbsp;His dad passed away in an auto accident, leaving his mom alone to raise his sister and brothers, Beverly (Ted) French, Lou (Robin) Patrick, Todd (Teresa) Patrick, and Ted (Sara) French.

Bill graduated from Northfield High School and later earned his Business Degree at Campbell University in North Carolina.

Bill was passionate about our country, our Constitution, and preserving freedom. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 1967 and promptly volunteered to fight communism in Vietnam.&nbsp;&nbsp;Bill was a courier in the most dangerous parts of Vietnam and later served as Recoilless Rifle and Base coordinator in the Dong Ha region.&nbsp;&nbsp;Bill was honorably discharged in May 1969 and received numerous distinguished decorations, medals, and ribbons.

After Vietnam, Bill worked many years for the Burlington Northern Railroad.&nbsp;&nbsp;However, his love of country prevailed, and Bill served his country again. Bill served in the Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina from 1982 to 1986 in the 82nd Airborne Infantry division.&nbsp;&nbsp;Due to his stellar performance, he was invited and attended Ronald Reagan’s Presidential inauguration.&nbsp;&nbsp;He received high decorations and awards for his valor.

Bill finished out his military career in the Army National Guard where he met his beloved band of brothers: John Tripp, Barry Brightwell, Russell Underwood, and James Kipper.

Bill was married in January 1971 to Carole Pepper Nelson (Carole Eulinger) and together they raised 3 children, primarily on Minnesota and Missouri farms. Bill was immensely proud of his children and loved them very much. After his first marriage ended, Bill experienced love again with wife, Becky Patrick and later, his significant other, Debbie Ballin.&nbsp;&nbsp;Although Bill was single when he passed away, he remained close to all three woman and cared for them deeply.

Bill lived life to the fullest.&nbsp;&nbsp;He loved the great outdoors and had many adventures.&nbsp;&nbsp;He enjoyed studying history and was a walking, talking encyclopedia.&nbsp;&nbsp;He loved good times with friends and family, alongside a cold beer, or two.&nbsp;&nbsp;He enjoyed laughing and visiting with his brothers Buddy and Teddy.&nbsp;&nbsp;Bill loved his dogs, one of them being his beloved German Shepherd, Dog.&nbsp;&nbsp;In honor of Dog’s service and love of Bill, Dog’s remains will&nbsp;&nbsp;be interred with Bill.&nbsp;&nbsp;Bill believed in his salvation through Jesus Christ and lives on “healthy, wealthy, and wise” forever more eternity.&nbsp;&nbsp;Semper Fi!

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Boyd Patrick and Thelma (Dick) Tuma, his sister Beverly, his brother Todd, and other friends and family.

Bill is survived by his children, Billy Patrick and Melissa (Leonard) Miller, step-daughter Katrina Nelson, bother, Lou (Robin) Patrick, brother Ted (Sara) French, grandchildren, Jordan (Nick) Hale, Shannon (Sabrina) Todd, Caleb Patrick, Brendon Nelson, several great-grandchildren, nieces, and his “adopted family” (Ed and Stephanie Sybert).

Ashton Nicole Smith 33, of Platte City, MO passed away December 4, 2022.

She was born on April 22, 1989, in St. Joseph, MO. Ashton grew up in Platte City and graduated from Platte County High School in 2007. While in high school, Ashton was involved in softball and basketball and was active in Young Life in Platte City.

Ashton had a great love for all animals from the goats on the farm to her chocolate lab, Tyson. She enjoyed playing bingo with the girls, watching movies, going to the lake, riding her bicycle, and attending concerts with her sister Tina. She was an avid sports fan, especially the KC Royals and KC Chiefs. Ashton was known for capturing all life’s funny and beautiful moments through her selfie stick. She had an infectious smile, always making everyone laugh, didn’t know a stranger and was the best daughter, sister, aunt and friend you could ask for and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Virginia and Larry Smith, Jim “Peaches” Brown, and Judie Littleton.

Ashton is survived by her dog Tyson; dad Roger (Lori) Smith; mom Jen (Mike) Vance; sisters Tina (Mike) Reed and Nikki (Todd) Tucker; brother Ian (Jessica) Flynn; niece Elsie Reed; nephews Jaxon Tucker and Vincent Flynn; grandparents Judy Brown, Mary Jo and Ron Misner, Charlie Littleton and Don Reed; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.&nbsp;

Frances Cecilia Sharpe (Schulz), “Fran,” 100, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2022. She is dearly missed by her many loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with&nbsp;God, with whom she had a vibrant relationship. Before her passing, her family was able to celebrate her 100 years of life together with Fran as the guest of honor.&nbsp;

Fran was born to Mary and Christian Schulz, in Staten Island, New York on January 31, 1922. She moved to Kansas after marrying her loving husband, William Sharpe. She worked for years as a nurse, caring for many. She lived a full, energetic life, spiritually, intellectually, and socially. Fran was always reading a book and working through a devotional. Fran was also passionate about flowers and loved shopping for and planting her spring annuals. Perhaps her greatest joy was her great-grandchildren. Fran loved the energy they&nbsp;brought into the house. She was thrilled to meet her newest great-granddaughter this Thanksgiving.&nbsp;

Fran is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, her husband, William Sharpe, her son David Sharpe, and her great-grandson, Landon Jaros. Fran is survived by her children, Dennis Sharpe (Susan), Kimberlee Nichols (Steve), and Kevin Sharpe (Julie); her grandchildren, Ryan Nichols (Colleen), Megan Jaros (Todd), Cara McBride (Josh), Justin Montgomery (Tori), Josh Sharpe (Mari), and Jessi Sharpe. She was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

Services will be at Brookdale Presbyterian Church on Monday December 12, 2022, with a visitation at 10 a.m. and a service at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest at&nbsp;St. Joseph Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mary E. (Christenson) Simpson, 91, of Troy, Kansas passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022, at the Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.&nbsp;

Mary was born on January 19, 1931, in Troy, Kansas to Jule and Mary (Turpin) Christenson.&nbsp;

She worked for Big Smith and then for Golden Star for over 30 years.&nbsp;

Mary married Jack Simpson. They later divorced and preceded him in death.&nbsp;

She was also preceded in death by her parents, sons, Ronnie and Kevin Simpson, son-in-law, Richard Smith, brothers, Robert, John, Kenny and Jim Christenson, and a sister, Norma Stewart.&nbsp;

Survivors: sons, Dave Simpson, Steve Simpson and Donnie Simpson.&nbsp; Daughters, Jackie Smith and Tammy Campbell.&nbsp;6 Grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.&nbsp;Sister, Sharon Wood.&nbsp;Numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Visitation: 6-8 Friday evening at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Troy, Kansas. Friends may call after 9 A.M. Friday.&nbsp;

Jeannine Louise Marshall, 92 of Savannah passed away Friday, December 2, 2022, at a local hospital in St. Joseph. She was born February 8th, 1930 to Eli &amp; Hazel (Deaver) DeTar. She married Harvey Levi Marshall in Albia, IA on July 23rd 1950 and after almost 40 wonderful years, he preceded her in death in 1990.

Jeannine grew up during the depression on a family farm near Albia, Iowa and told stories of teaching school in a one-room schoolhouse. She attended William Penn College in Iowa where she met Harvey. She and Harvey were most proud of raising 6 children who all graduated from colleges. Throughout her life, Jeannine cared for people of all ages, including working as a medical technician at nursing facilities for several years. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and music and was very interested in current events and will be remembered for her cheerful optimism.

Survivors include her children, Muriel Hopkins of Savannah, MO, Alan (Kathy) Marshall of Sedalia, MO, Laura Pope of Carlsbad, CA, Anne (David) Barr of Savannah, MO, Mark (Laura) Marshall of Boise, ID, and Elaine (Fritz) Alberty of Savannah, MO; grandchildren, Sarah Livesay, Daniel Marshall, Amanda Barr, Nathaniel Pope,&nbsp; Eric Barr, Benjamin Pope, Jacqueline Marshall, Julia Marshall, Scott Alberty, James Alberty, and Emma Alberty; great-grandchildren, Caden and Hazel; and two sisters, Evelyn Houska of White Heath, IL and Lois Clare DeTar of LLano, CA. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dean DeTar and Dale DeTar and by sons-in-law Michael Hopkins and Robert Pope.

Christopher S. Cline 59, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022 at his home. He was born October 14, 1963 in St. Joseph, son of Mary and Phillip Cline. 

Chris graduated from Lafayette High School, class of 1983. Chris worked as a Forklift Operator for several area industries. Chris was of the Catholic Faith. He loved his music, cookouts, being outdoor, and his cats. He was an avid pool player, and he also enjoyed his drinks.

Virginia B. Stillman, 91 of St. Joseph, MO., was called into GLORY on December 01, 2022.

Born to Oliver S. and Irene Brewer on March 12, 1931, in St. Joseph, MO, Virginia was a graduate of the former Bartlett High School and Hillyard Technical School.

In 1952 Virginia married William “Day” Stillman and created a family together. She was a mother and hard worker who love her community and later retired as a cook from the St. Joseph School District. Upon retirement she remained a life-long resident of St. Joseph. Virginia was a Christian and knew the Lord. She was a member of First Baptist Mount Union, until its closing. She later found another church home and united with St. Francis Baptist Temple.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband William “Day” Stillman; her parents Oliver and Irene Brewer; siblings, Oliver Brewer, James Brewer, Katherine Boggess; her son William Jr. and daughter, Lisa Stillman.

She leaves to celebrate her homegoing her children; Coleen Boone, Timothy (Gina) Stillman; nephews Alec and Jeffery Stillman, and a host of grandchildren nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 8, 2022, 12:00 p.m. at St. Francis Baptist Temple, 1610 Angelique St. St. Joseph, MO. Family visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.

Marion was born November 13, 1943, in Atchison, Kansas, the daughter of Albert and Francis (Funk) Wagner. She graduated from Mount St. Scholastica Academy.

Marion worked for the City National Bank before having children and becoming a homemaker. She enjoyed working and once her children were all in school, she joined Dr. Arkom Tivorsak in his billing department until her retirement. She took great care of her flower gardens, loved spending time with her grandson, was part of the Naughty Nine and cherished her dog, Brady.

She and Paul Blodig were married February of 1965, at St. Patrick’s Church, South of Atchison. They were married for fifty-seven years before Mr. Blodig preceded her in death on January 9, 2022. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Teresa Wagner, Lois Chambers, Joan Kramer and a brother, Tom Wagner. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Louise (Johnson) Kenyon, 90, died Thursday, December 1, 2022, at a nursing home in Grant City, MO.

She was born September 14, 1932, in Fillmore, MO, to Emmet and Mable (Davis) Davis.&nbsp; She moved to Stanberry, MO, and married Herschel Johnson October 22, 1962.&nbsp; They had three children:&nbsp; Grenda Lewis, Lawson, MO; Darwin (Brandy) Johnson, Stanberry, MO; and Dalton Johnson, Stanberry, MO.&nbsp; She had a son, Dale Davis, who pre-deceased her September 2022.&nbsp; Her husband Herschel Johnson pre-deceased her April 1989.&nbsp; She then married Bobby Kenyon April 29, 1995, who pre-deceased her May 2020.

Louise raised six stepchildren with her first husband Herschel Johnson:&nbsp; Alan Johnson, deceased 2008; Norman Johnson, deceased 2021; David Johnson (Reva), Des Moines, IA; Georgia May Lewis (Tom), Hermann, MO; Renee Lee Hazelwood, Agency, MO; June Cline, Albany, MO.

Louise is survived by three of her four children, 10 grandchildren; four of her six stepchildren, and 9 step-grandchildren.&nbsp; She is also survived by two of her three brothers: Herschel and Melvin Davis.&nbsp; Her brother Herbert pre-deceased her in 2002.&nbsp; Her father pre-deceased her in 1992 and her mother in 2006.&nbsp; Louise is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Louise was baptized at the age of 11 at the Fillmore Baptist Church, Fillmore, MO.&nbsp; She has been a long-time member of the Island City Christian Church, Stanberry, MO.

She performed many jobs during her lifetime; such as elder care, cleaning homes, and commercial cook.&nbsp; She is most remembered as being a school bus driver for the Stanberry R-II Schools.&nbsp; She was much loved by the children that rode on her bus.

Louise had many interests and passions in her life.&nbsp; The priority in her life was as mother/stepmother.&nbsp; She was a great cook, loved gardening, sewing/knitting/ crocheting, and reading.&nbsp; She really loved traveling and visited 45 out of the 50 states.

She was born June 2, 1943, in San Diego, California. Leslie graduated from Central High School and Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri. Leslie was a teacher at Benton High School. She loved teaching and working with students brought her great joy. She completed her Master Degree in Administration at NWMSU. She was also a track and volleyball coach. She especially enjoyed sponsoring the Freshman Cheerleaders. She was a proud member of the Benton Red Coats.

Leslie enjoyed being a courtesy driver for Anderson Ford and Enterprise Rental. She also loved spending time with her cats.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie (Les) Abersold and Drusilla Smith.

He was born November 14, 1943 in St. Joseph, Missouri, son of the late Narcissus &amp; Herbert Shane. He graduated from Benton High School, and he retired from the Military. Wilbur Edwin Whitacre, 98, of St. Joseph, MO passed away from his earthly life into the presence of his Lord on December 1, 2022 at Mosaic Medical Center.

Wilbur was born on September 2, 1924 in Chillicothe, MO to William Orville and Anna (Dowell) Whitacre.

After high school Wilbur worked on the family dairy farm with his father and brother until serving his Country became his calling. He enlisted in the United States Navy on February 9, 1944 serving dutifully through World War II and received his honorable discharge on June 15, 1946 as a Seaman First Class.

Upon returning to Chillicothe, Wilbur met and married the love of his life, his wife, Lena Pyrtle on June 20, 1948. Wilbur spent his career as a telephone repeaterman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company retiring after nearly 40 years of service. In retirement, Wilbur and Lena enjoyed their travel trailer and spent most Winters in Florida or Texas riding bikes and square dancing.

Wilbur was a deacon at Wyatt Park Baptist Church where he and Lena have remained faithful members since 1956. The church was, in Lena’s word’s, the “center of their universe”. Most notably Wilbur had a heart for serving those less fortunate, whether it be building homes in Belize or feeding the homeless at local soup kitchens.

He is preceded in death by a son, Douglas Edwin Whitacre, his parents, a brother, Carl Lee Whitacre, and a sister, Mary Evelyn Babb.

Surviving relatives include his wife of 74 years, Lena of St. Joseph, MO, sister Helen Ann Stanley of Kearney, MO, sons and daughters-in-law William and Joan Whitacre, Boise, ID, Craig and Barbara Whitacre, St. Joseph, MO, Marilyn Whitacre, Smithville, MO, and Travis and Susan Whitacre, Smithville, MO, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Nellie Kathleen (Tracy) Twombly, went home to be with her Lord and Savior December 2, 2022.

Kathy was born to Gerald and Mervene (Windmeyer) Tracy on April 6, 1943, at Dr. Minnegar’s office in Highland, KS.&nbsp; Kathy was the second of six children raised on a farm near White Cloud, Kansas.&nbsp; She graduated from Highland High School with the class of 1961.

Kathy married Bobby Dean Twombly on June 2, 1961 in Fanning, KS.&nbsp; They had five children:&nbsp; Robert “Scott”, Michael (Judy), Mary Jane Smith (Sherman), Dan Edward (deceased) and Paul (Jodi), 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She is also survived by two brothers:&nbsp; Jere Tracy, and Dick Tracy (Jan).&nbsp; She was a wonderful homemaker, cook, wife and mother.&nbsp; Everyone was welcome in her home and she always had a meal to share with whoever stopped by.

Kathy graduated from Benedictine College in 1993 with a Bachelor’s degree in secondary English Education.&nbsp; She graduated Cum Laude.&nbsp; She taught the majority of her teaching career at DeKalb, MO R IV schools from 1994-2009.&nbsp; Kathy absolutely loved teaching and touched the lives of countless students with her wit and wisdom.&nbsp; Kathy earned her Master’s degree from Friends University in 1999.&nbsp; She retired in 2009, but then returned to teaching from 2018-2020 at D-West High School.

Kathy was a world traveler.&nbsp; Some of her travel included Venice, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, and Alaska.

Kathy loved her Church family and served as elder at Fanning Community of Christ.&nbsp; She was also a Sunday school teacher, member of the Dozen and ½ Club, SLK Club, Doniphan County Library Board, Retired Teacher’s Club, Doniphan County Historical Society, Highland High School Alumni Association, and a dedicated longtime Highland Vidette/Kansas Chief correspondent of the Highland news.&nbsp; She treasured her “girls” at bridge club.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, son Don Edward, siblings:&nbsp; Bonnie Maschler, Jane Winters, Myra Tracy, daughter in law Leigh Ann (Blevins) Twombly and great granddaughter Scarlett Jane Meng.

Kathy lived life to the fullest.&nbsp; Nothing meant more to her than family.

Celebration of life service for Kathleen is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, at Fanning Community of Christ.&nbsp; Mark Twombly will officiate. Private inurnment will be at later date at Olive Branch Cemetery, White Cloud.

John Ralph Stafford, 84 of Smithville, MO passed away November 30, 2022.

He was born January 25, 1938, to George A and Dolores (Richmond) Stafford in Kansas City, MO. John graduated from Cleveland Heights High School. He then served his country overseas in the United States Marines Corps. After his honorable discharge, he began his career at Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, OH as a quality inspector and retired as a Plant Senior Executive in 1995.

On January 23, 1960, he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Ryhal. After their marriage they made their home in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio where their raised their two sons. After his retirement they moved to Smithville, MO.

John served as a Priesthood member at the Community of Christ in Smithville, MO. He was an avid golfer and Ohio State fan. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Dolores Stafford; his brother Bobby Ford; and his son Bill Stafford. John is survived by his wife Mary Jane Stafford; son John Stafford, Jr. and wife Krista; grandchildren John III, Jason, Billy, Caitlyn, Anna, Jacob, and Mathew; great-grandchildren Graham, Leo John, Archie, Nina Jane, and Bennett; sister Sue Peterson; other relatives and many friends.&nbsp;

The world became a little dimmer on November 30th when Aaron Paul Swopes started a new beginning along life’s path. Born in Colorado in 1982, and raised up proper in Missouri, he became a man of integrity and loyalty. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the title of Fire Starter of the Tribe of Mik-O-Sey. He knew the ways of our Native American Brothers and Sisters and held in his heart the respect of the earth and all that dwelt on it.

He was a skilled outdoorsman and was able to kindle the warmth of a fire with a wooden bow-drill, patiently bringing forth a flame, just as he brought forth the values in his children that anyone would envy.

Aaron served as a Corrections Officer in Cameron, MO. After attending the Police Academy in St. Joseph, Missouri, earning acknowledgment as the number one student in his class, he served as Law Enforcement Officer at Platte City, Mo. He then worked for Union Pacific Railroad in the Kansas City yard.

A product people enjoyed, much like the man himself, a man of quality and consistency. Orders for his whiskey were being taken as fast as he could produce it. Just a week ago, Aaron was looking at purchasing more equipment to meet the demand.Aaron’s sons Colton (21), Andrew (16) and Logan (11) adored their Dad, and he in return deeply loved his sons. Aaron adopted his daughter, Halle (20), and loved her as his own. Aaron so very much loved his Mother Christine Knott and when they were together, he would swallow her diminutive frame in his arms and give her the best hugs a mother could ever want. Aaron’s Dad, Marlin Swopes taught him to become a man of will and determination. And Marlin taught Aaron a thing or two about fishing. Apparently, Aaron paid attention (Except for that one time at 3 in the morning when he was sporting for catfish at Smithville Lake with his bonus Dad Dewayne and fell asleep; losing his pole and nearly falling out of the boat. But most times, he could out-fish nearly everyone around and was pretty handy with a fillet knife, too. Aaron’s sister, Jennifer (Swopes) Clark and son Evan (9), moved to Utah and Aaron continued to reach out to her across the miles. Aaron embraced Sara (Knott) Eckhardt as a sister, both of them having respect for each other that goes beyond friendship. Anyone who knew Aaron knew that when they smelled that BBQ smoke coming from his driveway, there was going to be some good eating. Aaron enjoyed cooking whether as a charcoal purist or in the kitchen with his wife Juanita. They enjoyed spending time trying to outdo each other at the stovetop and singing country songs together.The family and friends of Aaron are blessed to have been part of his circle of life and to know his good-hearted spirit of mischief. He valued loyalty, honesty, and trust; a friend to everyone who lived by these values. The circle is broken, but only for a moment, it will mend. The moment may seem as an eternity, but Aaron’s intense desire to always teach the right thing will live through those who loved him and through his children and his children’s children. Memorial Service:&nbsp; 6:30 p.m. Monday, December 5th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville with visitation following until 8:30 p.m.<figure>
