He was born November 27, 1957, to Truby and Ruth Jackson in St. Joseph, Missouri.

 enjoyed working on anything with a motor. He liked riding motorcycles 
and mushroom hunting. He would help anyone who needed a hand.

Survivors include his daughters, Keli Lyn Jackson and Kaylee Michelle Jackson; and granddaughter, Adrianna Michelle Clinton.

HOLTON – Helen V. Robson, 91, formerly of Holton, went to be with her Heavenly father and family members for her everlasting life, on Friday, April 21, 2023 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

&nbsp;She was born November 6, 1931 at Harveyville, the daughter of William and Leoti (Mundy) Shaw.

&nbsp;Helen graduated from Burlingame High School in 1953. She then married Loren Robson on June 7, 1953 in Burlingame, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1995.

&nbsp;In her younger years she enjoyed riding horses.&nbsp;&nbsp;She and her husband always had a huge garden.&nbsp;&nbsp;Helen loved to can the produce from the garden. During their marriage, she was a farmer’s wife, preacher’s wife, and a teacher’s wife. Most of these at the same time.

&nbsp;She babysat for various families. She also worked for Aristo Foods on the assembly line. After that, she worked for Adams Business Forms. Wherever she worked, she always gave her best. She was given several awards at Adams, including employee of the year. She retired from working in October of 2002. After retirement, she said she missed working.

&nbsp;She was a member and faithfully attended the First Baptist Church in Holton.

&nbsp;Helen was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Kenneth, Albert, Dale and Elmer Shaw, two sisters, Hazel Smith-Tindal and Gladys Mikulichek.

&nbsp;She is survived by her daughter, Diane Cashman Haynes (David), grandson, Zachary Cashman, step-grandsons, Ross Haynes (Rebecca), Reed Haynes (Claire), and Russell Haynes (Allison) and four step-great grandchildren.

&nbsp;Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 25th at the First Baptist Church in Holton.&nbsp;&nbsp;Burial will follow in the Mayetta Cemetery.&nbsp;&nbsp;Family and friends will meet from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Tuesday.&nbsp;&nbsp;Helen will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton.

Helen V. Robson 1931 - 2023

Joseph Samuel Matthews, 86, of Platte City, Missouri died April 18, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospice House. Joe was born in Beeville, Texas on June 12, 1936 to William Kenneth and Dora Deane Matthews. 

He grew up in Lampasas and Burnet, Texas and graduated from Burnet High School in 1954. In Burnet he met his life-long love Leldon Rose Hammond, and they married on September 8, 1956. Joe graduated from the University of Texas-Austin in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He worked as an Engineer for the U.S. Corps of Engineers and after the Department of Housing and Urban Development was created in 1966, he began working as an Engineer for the Department and moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1970 with Leldon and their three children, Kathy, Ken, and Bill.

In 1971, Joe and his family moved to Platte County, Missouri to begin his future career as a farmer. He became a full-time farmer in 1984 as he “retired” from government employment. Besides farming, Joe was active with Weston Water District #2 for decades, serving as a board member and president, and with several committees at the Weston United Methodist Church.

Joe was smart, thoughtful, and generous, a devoted husband and partner, father, grandfather, and friend. 

Joe was preceded in death by his son Bill and his parents William Kenneth and Dora Deane Matthews. 

He is survived by Leldon, his wife of 66 years, his sister Barbara Bird, daughter Kathy and partner Jenny, his son Ken and wife Kathie, and grandchildren Caleb, Luke, Joshua, Rebekah, Jessica, Nichole, and Mia.

We will miss his intelligence, love, and humor greatly. Our family is especially grateful for the good care Joe received at the Neuroscience Institute at St. Luke’s Hospital and at St. Luke’s Hospice House.

Visitation and memorial service will be at Weston United Methodist Church on Friday April 28, 2023 with visitation at 10:00 AM and memorial service at 11:00 AM.

Kathy Jo Schmid, 72, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023. She
 was born May 26, 1950, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of John M. and 
Joann C. (Owen) Dunigan. She was a 1968 graduate of Highland Park High 
School and received her Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Management 
and Leadership with Honors from Friends University. Kathy was 
employed by Josten’s American Yearbook, where she met her husband, 
Jerry. She later worked for Kansas Department of Health and Environment,
 Kansas Department of Transportation, Juvenile Justice Authority and 
most recently for Newcomer Funeral Service Group, until retiring. She
 was an active member Highland Park Assembly of God, First Assembly of 
God and later Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene supporting her 
husband Pastor Jerry Schmid. Kathy married Jerry Lee Schmid on 
May 26, 1971, in Four Mile Congregational Church, Humboldt, Nebraska. He 
survives in Topeka. Other survivors include two daughters, Rachelle 
(Jeff) Frank of St. Joseph, Mo., and Brooke Sipes of Topeka; and two 
grandsons, Quinton Bearce and Dawson Sipes. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Steve Dunigan. Kathy
 loved spending time with family, especially her grandsons, holidays 
with family, cooking, baking, swimming, gardening, flowers and Fourth of
 July was her favorite holiday. Her other love was singing gospel music 
with her family and established the In His Presence Singing Trio. She 
was also an avid Kansas State University and K.C. Chiefs fan. Honoring
 Kathy’s request, cremation is planned. A celebration of life ceremony 
will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 5, 2023 at Wanamaker Woods Church
 of the Nazarene, 3501 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS 66614. The family 
will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the Four Mile Cemetery, 63346 706 Road, Humboldt, NE 68376. Kevin Patrick “Pat” Roberts, 62, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023.

He was born March 9, 1961 to William L. Roberts and Ruth L. (Waggoner) Howard in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Kevin served in Desert Storm as a member of the United States Air Force 55th wing as a jet engine mechanic later retiring after 20 years served.

He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1979.

Kevin married Melissa “Missy” Ann Youngblood on September 16, 2005.

Kevin enjoyed working on project cars, riding his motorcycle, grilling, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Roberts; son, Brian Roberts; granddaughter, Maggie.

Survivors include his wife, Missy; children, Steve (Brooke), Jaycie (Rob), Kevin (Caitlin), Dustin (Alyssa), Megan (Mike), Brendan, Brian, Melanie (Travis); grandchildren, Dayden, Skyla, Cash, Arialle, Maisie, and Sandy; mother, Ruth Howard; 3 brothers, 2 sisters; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Debra Lynn Howdeshell 65, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Wednesday April 19, 2023 in Saint Joseph. She was born May 18, 1957 in Joliet, Illinois. 

She graduated from Central High school and a homemaker, who enjoyed collecting elephants and oriental dolls, and was a supporter of the elephant sanctuary. She was a one of Jehovah's Witness. 

Debbie was preceded in death by her husband, Garry Joe Howdeshell,  father, Albert "Pat" Patterson, brothers, Michael Patteron, Fred Robidoux, and Walt Robidoux. 

Survivors include, mother, Patricia "Pat" Patterson, and husband Herbert "Doc" Patterson,  St. Joseph, MO, a sister, Shelly Patterson, as well as several, nieces and  nephews. 

Memorial services following Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall Of Jehovah's Witnesses, on Picket Road.  She will be cremated under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home.

Mary F. Crane, 51, of DeKalb, MO, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023 in Kansas City, MO. She was born July 14, 1971 in Farmington, NM, daughter of Wanda (Wheeler) and Robert Crane. 

She graduated from Bethany High School, class of 1989. She spent many years working as a care taker. Mary enjoyed camping, hunting, especially mushroom hunting, and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her time coaching with the Special Olympics. 

Mary was preceded in death by father, Robert Crane. 

Survivors include mother and step-father, Wanda and Dick McCaulley, her daughter, Autumn Rose Crane, brothers, George (Tammy) Wheeler, Sr. and Joseph McCaulley, all of DeKalb, MO, numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Osborn, Missouri…John Ray Hayter, age 64, of Osborn, Missouri passed away at the Living Community in St. Joseph, Missouri, on April 19, 2023. John was born on March 4, 1959 to Gerald and Dorothy (Dixon) Hayter of Osborn, MO.

He was a 1977 graduate of Osborn High School. John lived his life on the Hayter farm, northwest of Osborn, where he farmed and raised livestock, and was also employed by Arkansas Freightways as a semi truck driver for several years.&nbsp;

He enjoyed his many friends and loved being an uncle to his nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

John is preceded in death by his dad, Gerald Hayter, in 1996.&nbsp;

John is survived by his mother, Dorothy Hayter, Osborn, MO.; brothers and sister-in-laws, Ronnie (Anne) Hayter, Osborn, MO, Suzette Hayter, Cameron, MO; Kenny (Mary) Hayter, Stewartsville, MO; nieces and nephews, Brian (Robin) Hayter, Maysville, MO, Doran (Anne) Hayter, Platte City, MO, Jeff Hayter, Stewartsville, MO, Ashley (Cameron) McClellan, Denver, CO; great-nieces and nephews, Haley Hayter, Bryce Hayter, Clare Hayter, Harper McClellan, Charlie McClellan and one great-great-nephew, Calvin Perkins.

John lived his life on the Hayter farm, northwest of Osborn, where he farmed and raised livestock, and was also employed by Arkansas Freightways as a semi truck driver for several years.&nbsp;He enjoyed his many friends and loved being an uncle to his nieces and nephews.&nbsp;John is preceded in death by his dad, Gerald Hayter, in 1996.&nbsp;John is survived by his mother, Dorothy Hayter, Osborn, MO.; brothers and sister-in-laws, Ronnie (Anne) Hayter, Osborn, MO, Suzette Hayter, Cameron, MO; Kenny (Mary) Hayter, Stewartsville, MO; nieces and nephews, Brian (Robin) Hayter, Maysville, MO, Doran (Anne) Hayter, Platte City, MO, Jeff Hayter, Stewartsville, MO, Ashley (Cameron) McClellan, Denver, CO; great-nieces and nephews, Haley Hayter, Bryce Hayter, Clare Hayter, Harper McClellan, Charlie McClellan and one great-great-nephew, Calvin Perkins.A private family graveside service will be held at the Stewartsville Cemetery. Eli Jacob Cliff, Age 9, Savannah Missouri, left this earth on Wednesday April 19th, 2023, at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO from the result of a brain bleed in a UTV accident.

Eli was born November 24th, 2013, in St. Joseph, MO to parents Jacob and Carla Cliff. Eli was the 6th child of this family and known to be a gentle giant at 150lbs and 5’6”. He loved his cat Zero the Hero and his goat named Gruff. He was a lover of many things, most of all his dad and working on the crew. He was his dad’s mini-me, right-hand man and Best Friend.

Eli attended Amazonia Elementary School where he was in the 3rd grade. He wanted to be a builder when he grew up. Eli is survived by his parents, his brothers, Gavin (Ava) Stroud, River Cliff, Jerrin Cliff; his sisters, Jaylyn Cliff and Julia Cliff; his nephew, William Stroud; his grandparents, Brian and Vickie Schubert; great-grandparent Joanne Schubert and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and so many friends. Rheta Pearl McDowell, 83, of Trimble, MO passed away April 18, 2023.

She was born to Kenneth and Hazel (Bratcher) Clements at home in Walnut Ridge, AR on December 15, 1939. The family moved to Plattsburg, MO in 1953. Rheta graduated from Plattsburg High School in 1956 and from Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, MO in 1958. She taught 5th and 6th grades for 2 years in the North Kansas City School District.&nbsp;

In 1960, she married the love of her life, Wesley McDowell, living in the Kansas City area before moving to Trimble in 1962. In 2008, she and Wesley celebrated their 48th anniversary 2 months before brain cancer took his life.&nbsp;

Rheta was an active member of Trimble Baptist Church, where she was Treasurer and led Music/Choir for more years than we can remember. She was also Treasurer for the Heartland Baptist Association for many years, as well as involved in music with the Association. Sunday mornings started when she sat down at the piano to practice the songs for church. We didn’t necessarily appreciate this alarm system, but it was effective. Love of music was a big part of her life as she and Wesley frequented gospel sings, returning to the same ones year after year, making friends wherever they went, even arriving at the campground a week or two early to join the other regular attenders in meals, conversation, and lots of laughter. She also wrote the weekly Trimble Talk column for the Plattsburg Leader, for which she collected all the local news (gossip) for many years, and which gave her the chance to engage in one of her favorite things: talking to people. It was her privilege to talk to many people each week and hear all about vacations, family visits, accomplishments, and any other items a small town might consider newsworthy.

She loved people and they loved her back. Wherever she went, people were drawn to her, even in her last days when she wasn’t talking much. She took a sincere and active interest in people she encountered in all kinds of places, found out names and stories, and remembered them. But she loved kids the most. Her grandkids and great grandkids were her greatest joy. It was very hard for her when she could no longer carry them or watch them, but she cherished every visit, and they adored her, as did countless other kids through the years, most of whom called her Nana or Aunt Rheta. She loved them all.&nbsp;

The relationship that was most important to her was the one with her Savior, Jesus. It colored everything she did and we believe she kept a running conversation with Him, praying for her kids and grandkids, friends, other loved ones. If you knew her, she prayed for you.

Rheta is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister, Lorna Clements, and grandson, Tyler McDowell.&nbsp;

She is survived by her three children: Curtis of Kansas City, Carl (Christine) of Independence, and Colleen (Doug) Magee of Kansas City; 5 grandchildren: Alex (Courtney), Jessica (Matt), Katelyn (Jimmy), Aaron and Alise, and 1 step grandson, Ben; 9 great-grandchildren: Hannah, Lainey, Curtis, Wesley, Gracelynn, Joseph, Jericho, Micah, and Jocelynn (due in August); step great-grandchildren JJ and Tristen; nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.&nbsp;

Donna "Ann" Crockett, 90, of Weston, MO, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at a Lansing, KS health care facility. She was born December 13, 1932 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Alice and Ralph Sandlin. 

Ann graduated from Benton High School, class of 1951. She married George "Hoop" Crockett on December 23, 1951 in St. Joseph. She retired from TWA after 17 years, working in fleet service. She loved watching her kids and grandchildren play sports. She was a great cook and enjoyed traveling alongside her husband, Hoop. Ann was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Platte City and Weston United Methodist Church. 

She was preceded in death by husband, George "Hoop" Crockett in 2022, her parents, her siblings, Charlotte Sandlin, Mary Holtsclaw, Ralph Sandlin, Jr. and John Sandlin. 

Survivors include children, Doug (Debbie) Crockett of Faucett, MO, Steve Crockett of Weston, MO, Mike (Cathy) Crockett of Atchison, KS, Michelle (Dennis) Stanton of Weston, MO, and Linda (Brian) McCown of Kansas City, MO, sisters, Ruby Taysen, Peggy Carter, Dorothy Eisenbarger and Alice Faye Seever, all of St. Joseph, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

James Edgar Cunningham 96, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023 in a Leavenworth, KS. health care center. He was born September 15, 1926 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Georgia and Elmer Cunningham. 

He served in the United States Army and is a veteran of World War II. He was owner and operator of Cunningham &amp; Merritt Construction for over 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, traveling, going to Las Vegas, playing cards. 

James was preceded in death by wife, Maxine Cunningham, parents, brothers, George and John Cunningham, sisters, Delora "Sis" Phoenix, Wilma Jean Sollars, and Florence "Babe" Penland. 

Survivors include sons, Jim F. (Mary) Cunningham, Joe (Janesa) Cunningham, and both of St. Joseph, MO, grandchildren: Erin (Buster) Drowns, and Jamie Coy, great granddaughter, Kendalynn Coy, brother, Walt Cunningham, and sister, Leah Carroll.

Gayle Ellen Grace, 68, of Leavenworth passed away April 16, 2023 at Providence Medical Center.

Gayle was born on February 19, 1955 to Hank and Mildred Inkman at Muncin Army Hospital on Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Gayle married Edward Grace, Jr. on December 29, 1978 in Leavenworth, Kansas. Gayle graduated from Leavenworth High School and obtained some college credits. Gayle retired from Fort Leavenworth in 2010.

Gayle loved bowling, darts, and was a dish collector. &nbsp;She was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed her diamond paintings.

Gayle was a very loving mother, wife, and an all-around beautiful soul.

Gayle is preceded in death by her son, David Lee Grace, and her parents, Hank and Mildred Inkman.

Gayle is survived by her husband, Edward Grace, Jr, of Leavenworth, Kansas, children, Jason Grace, of Lenexa, Kansas, Patrick and his wife Alyssa Grace, of North Carolina, grandchildren, Conner Sellers-Grace, Jayden Grace and Reece Grace.

Gayle Ellen Grace 1955 - 2023

Harlan “Nick” Newton Reynolds, Jr., was born May 28, 1937, in Horton, KS, because there was no hospital in Hiawatha, KS, where the family lived. He passed away October 31, 2022, in Wellstar North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, GA. He was the son of Harlan N. Reynolds and Katherine D. Zavitz. He was the grandson of Newton Reynolds, former mayor of Hiawatha and owner of Newt Reynolds &amp; Son, General Contractors, builders of commercial and residential buildings in Hiawatha and surrounding areas for over 40 years.

At age 16 Dad married Peggy G. Abbott and had 3 children—Debra (Debi), Dirk, and Darla. They were married for 20 years. He later married Francis Valiant “Val” Powell McBride who brought to their union her daughter Marian. They were married 30 years.

Nick was the name he preferred to go by. He got that name from his grandmother who wanted him to have a “nickname”, hence Nick. The family moved to many places throughout his younger years. His favorite places to live were Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs, CA. His parents had a pool hall in Desert Hot Spring where he became a very skilled pool player. He worked to pass those skills onto his kids, but only son Dirk came close to Dad’s skill level. Dad also cherished his times in Hiawatha and Morrill, KS, around his close-knit family. The Reynolds family has lived in the Robinson, Hiawatha, Morrill, &amp; Fairview area over the past 175 years. The Reynolds extended family are the Peckinpaugh, Zavitz, and Lambertson.

Dad started in the grocery business at 16 that had his family moving from St. Joe, MO, to Atchison, KS, to Topeka, KS—where he became manager of 3 different Safeway stores. He then moved to Hiawatha, KS—his hometown—to open his own IGA store. He then moved to Greenville, MS, then to Jackson, MS, to become a partner in Paper Wholesale of Jackson and where he retired. Then he moved to Brookdale in Roswell, GA, to be closer to his daughter Darla and step-daughter Marian. Darla was his very capable and dedicated caregiver for 5 years until her passing.&nbsp;

Music was dad’s first love—attending operas, musicals, leading sing-a-longs at Lions Club meetings (where he also served 2 terms as president), participating and leading in Brookdale sing-a-longs, and having theatrical roles in Oklahoma and Bus Stop while in MS. His next love was poetry. After discovering a poem his grandmother Grace Peckinpaugh Reynolds had written in her teens, he found passion and talent for writing his own poems, sharing with his Brookdale poetry club, family, and friends.

Nick is survived by his brother Steve Reynolds. Daughter Debra “Debi” Eskie (Dennis), step-daughter Marian McBride Stelling (Jonathan), daughter-in-law Laura Reynolds.&nbsp; Granddaughters Leah Eskie (Greg Anderson), Erin Merrill (Fred Curtis), grandson Levi Reynolds (Lexi), granddaughters Shelton and Samantha Stelling, step-granddaughter Ana Saldivar. Great grandchildren Chyler and Chandi Eskie, Evangeline “Evie” and Elise Merrill, and step-great grandchildren Logan and Chloe Schlosser and Miles Guick.&nbsp; 

Preceding him in death is his first wife Peggy Parker, his wife Val Reynolds, son Dirk Reynolds, daughter Darla Urbantas, dad Harlan Reynolds, mother Katherine Zavitz Reynolds Dawson, and sister-in-law Sue Buhman Reynolds.

The service will be at 11:00 am on April 29, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church that Grandpa Newt Reynolds built. Nick will be laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery following the service. There will be a reception at First Presbyterian Church following the burial. All interested persons are invited.

He passed away October 31, 2022, in Wellstar North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, GA. He was the son of Harlan N. Reynolds and Katherine D. Zavitz. He was the grandson of Newton Reynolds, former mayor of Hiawatha and owner of Newt Reynolds &amp; Son, General Contractors, builders of commercial and residential buildings in Hiawatha and surrounding areas for over 40 years.At age 16 Dad married Peggy G. Abbott and had 3 children—Debra (Debi), Dirk, and Darla. They were married for 20 years. He later married Francis Valiant “Val” Powell McBride who brought to their union her daughter Marian. They were married 30 years.Nick was the name he preferred to go by. He got that name from his grandmother who wanted him to have a “nickname”, hence Nick. The family moved to many places throughout his younger years. His favorite places to live were Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs, CA. His parents had a pool hall in Desert Hot Spring where he became a very skilled pool player. He worked to pass those skills onto his kids, but only son Dirk came close to Dad’s skill level. Dad also cherished his times in Hiawatha and Morrill, KS, around his close-knit family. The Reynolds family has lived in the Robinson, Hiawatha, Morrill, &amp; Fairview area over the past 175 years. The Reynolds extended family are the Peckinpaugh, Zavitz, and Lambertson.Dad started in the grocery business at 16 that had his family moving from St. Joe, MO, to Atchison, KS, to Topeka, KS—where he became manager of 3 different Safeway stores. He then moved to Hiawatha, KS—his hometown—to open his own IGA store. He then moved to Greenville, MS, then to Jackson, MS, to become a partner in Paper Wholesale of Jackson and where he retired. Then he moved to Brookdale in Roswell, GA, to be closer to his daughter Darla and step-daughter Marian. Darla was his very capable and dedicated caregiver for 5 years until her passing.&nbsp;Music was dad’s first love—attending operas, musicals, leading sing-a-longs at Lions Club meetings (where he also served 2 terms as president), participating and leading in Brookdale sing-a-longs, and having theatrical roles in Oklahoma and Bus Stop while in MS. His next love was poetry. After discovering a poem his grandmother Grace Peckinpaugh Reynolds had written in her teens, he found passion and talent for writing his own poems, sharing with his Brookdale poetry club, family, and friends.Nick is survived by his brother Steve Reynolds. Daughter Debra “Debi” Eskie (Dennis), step-daughter Marian McBride Stelling (Jonathan), daughter-in-law Laura Reynolds.&nbsp; Granddaughters Leah Eskie (Greg Anderson), Erin Merrill (Fred Curtis), grandson Levi Reynolds (Lexi), granddaughters Shelton and Samantha Stelling, step-granddaughter Ana Saldivar. Great grandchildren Chyler and Chandi Eskie, Evangeline “Evie” and Elise Merrill, and step-great grandchildren Logan and Chloe Schlosser and Miles Guick.&nbsp; Preceding him in death is his first wife Peggy Parker, his wife Val Reynolds, son Dirk Reynolds, daughter Darla Urbantas, dad Harlan Reynolds, mother Katherine Zavitz Reynolds Dawson, and sister-in-law Sue Buhman Reynolds.The service will be at 11:00 am on April 29, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church that Grandpa Newt Reynolds built. Nick will be laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery following the service. There will be a reception at First Presbyterian Church following the burial. All interested persons are invited.<figure>

Daniel was born July 20, 1967, in Atchison, Kansas to Melvin and Avis (Piper) Owens.&nbsp;

Daniel married Cheryl Danese August 22, 2009, in Troy, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;She survives of the home.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gaylord “Bud” Owens.&nbsp;

Additional survivors include his children, Taylor, Alexus, Skylar and Janie Owens. Lynn was born on March 24, 1955, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Billy E. and Norma Jo Ann (Liechti) Frump.

He was a member of the Eagle’s Lodge, St. Joseph and a former member of the Elwood Baptist Church.

Lynn married Jeanette Marie Davis on November 9, 1974, in Elwood, Kansas. She preceded him in death on June 23, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his father, nephew, Joey Frump, brothers-in-law, Glen Lyons and Richard Davis and father-in-law, Albert Davis.

Survivors: daughters, Trina Earl (Dan), Jennifer Edie (Jon) and Heather Frump (Joey Dean). Grandchildren, Kaliey Smith, Shawn Dean, Hunter Smith and Zoee Edie. Ronald E. White, 51, Plattsburg, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023.

He was born February 23, 1972 in Independence, Missouri to Jerry and Diane (Armstrong) White.

Ron was a wild soul who loved hard and did his best to cherish all aspects of life. He was rough around the edges, but underneath it all he had a heart of gold.

He worked hard all his life and never backed down. He was far from perfect, but he always tried to make up for it in any way he knew how. He loved his family, loved the outdoors, and barbecue. He will always be loved and never be forgotten.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Steve White.

Iva was a bookkeeper/secretary for Bushman Construction Co and retired from Welsh Plumbing in 2006.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Richard.

Melanie Simpson 1980 - 2023

CW4 (Ret.) Donald Earl Bohnsack, Leavenworth, quietly passed into the arms of the Lord Jesus on Wednesday evening, April 12, 2023.&nbsp;

He was born on February 20, 1940 in San Diego, CA to Earl and Lucille (Dick) Bohnsack. The family soon moved back to the Eudora, Kansas area where they farmed. Donald joined the Army upon graduation from high school in 1958, serving at many posts both in the U.S. and abroad. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam receiving injuries to his back and knees.

On August 26, 1961, Donald married Madelyn Ann Mace in Brookfield Missouri. They had four children, Michael (Candice) Bohnsack of Lansing, Donna (Douglas) Gentle of Waynesville, MO, Michelle (stillborn), and Jeffery (Heather) Bohnsack of Leavenworth. Madelyn faithfully traveled with him wherever he was stationed until he retired from the Army in 1980 having served for a total of 22 years. They made their home in Leavenworth and Donald worked at Fort Leavenworth in AG and Housing until retiring on January 3, 2003. During that time Donald cared for Madelyn after she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis until she passed in January 1998. On October 27, 2001, Donald was united in marriage to Linda D. Zacher and gained three step-children: Susan (Charlie) Hogshooter of Eldon, MO; Samuel ‘Brad’ Zacher of Lawrence; and Amanda (David) Smith of Independence, MO.&nbsp;

Don and Madelyn—and later Linda--served as the leaders for the MS support group in the Leavenworth area.&nbsp; Donald also volunteered with several other groups—American Red Cross, Leavenworth Hospice, as well as the Retiree Committee, the Commissary Committee and various others on Fort Leavenworth and at the VA. Donald was a long-time member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, serving the church in many capacities. He also served on the Board of the Frontier Community Credit Union for many years.&nbsp;

Donald is survived by his wife Linda of the home, daughter Donna, son Jeffrey, step-daughters Susan and Amanda and step-son Brad, six grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren and his cat Buttons—who misses him dearly.&nbsp;

A funeral service will be held in his honor at 11:00 am on Friday, April 28, 2023 at First Christian Church, 6th&nbsp;and Seneca in Leavenworth.&nbsp; Condolence calls for the family will be held from 9:00-10:45 am prior to the service and burial will take place immediately following at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
