Warren Walter Plamann, 73, formerly of rural Hiawatha, died June 27, 2023 at a care facility at Barrington, Illinois. He was 73.

Warren was born at Horton, KS September 27, 1949, one of three children born to Walter and Norma Morgan Plamann. He grew up near Hiawatha where he attended school and graduated high school with the class of 1967. He graduated from Southern Illinois University with a bachelor of science in Hospital Administration.

Growing up on a farm, he was involved with 4H where he showed cattle. &nbsp;In later years, he loved his Great Danes.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Warren served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years &nbsp;advancing to Chief Petty Officer as a hospital corpsman. After the Navy he began another career as a CT Tech for 16 years at Good Shepard Hospital in Barrington. After retiring Warren loved going to movies and enjoyed doing planted pots with his favorite flowers. His love and devotion was this family.

He married &nbsp;Dawn Patricia January 21, 1990. Warren and Dawn were blessed with a son Michael Joseph, and dear brother to Diana Stark and Teresa Allen.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents.

At his request, he was cremated with private services held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha where he was interred on the family lot. Pastor Michael Dunaway officiated. Military honors were a courtesy of the Brown County Veterans Honor Guard.

Les passed away on Monday May 1, 2023 at his home in Spaulding Illinois, Les was the eldest grandson of F. Keith and Ethel M. (Erickson) Straub, the son of Loyd A. and Annalouise (Christy) Straub. Les was born on January 13, 1961 in Hiawatha, Kansas. Les was preceded in death by his grand-parents, parents, one grandson (Keith Straub) and wife Teresa “Terri” L. Straub, who passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

&nbsp;Les and Terri were married on April 8th 1989, and would have celebrated 34 years together. They met while both working at Jewel- Osco in Springfield Il, in 1988. They raised three children and lived in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois. As well as raising their children they have been strong and loving influences for several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. &nbsp;

Les was a 1979 graduate of Mahomet-Seymour High School in Mahomet Il. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University. Through the years Les served as a district manager for Osco Drug and Meijer Inc. most recently worked for Quicksilver Mailing Services. Les was a member and secretary of Joe’s Slovak Club, he was an accomplished trout fisherman, enjoyed golf, Illinois football and basketball as well as a dedicated Kansas City Royals and Indianapolis Colts fan. Les was a loving husband, brother and proud father and uncle, and even prouder grandfather.

Terri graduated from Williamsville High School in 1977. Terri was a loving wife, sister and daughter. She had a unique sense of humor and infectious laugh. With her warm and welcoming heart she wrapped each family members and particularly her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews in a blanket of love and support to last a lifetime.

&nbsp;They are survived by son Shawn (Lindsay) Turner of Colorado, Maria Straub of Indiana and Eva Straub of Illinois. Les’s sister Barb Straub (Ron Hucke) of Nebraska, Terri’s father Jim Stevens of Illinois, Terri’s sister Gail (Nick)Lemmo of Indiana. They have six granddaughters, Juliet Straub, Esme Rock, Katlin and Kendall Cruze, and Margaret and Violet Turner, two grandsons Toby Straub and Kaiden Garrett. Nieces Amy (Ben) Scamehorn: great-nephews Drake and Jackson, and Suzy (Josh) Richardson: great-niece Ashlynn, and many more.

Graveside committal services for Teri and Les is planned for 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 4, 2023 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha (along the NE part of cemetery).

Leslie L. Straub 1961 - 2023

Ron Johnson, 79, of rural Hiawatha, died Friday morning, August 25, 2023, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha where he had been a resident a short time.

Ron was born at Norwich, CT, September 22, 1943, the only child of Margareta Johnson. When he lived at Groton, CT, he worked with General Dynamics building submarines until 1998 when he and his wife Donna moved to the country near Powhattan, KS.

He enjoyed working as a blackjack dealer at Sac &amp; Fox Casino from 1999 until 2011 when he retired.

Ron enjoyed hunnting and fishing in his earlier years. In Connecticut, he had a red sailboat “The Pan” that he loved to sail.

Survivors include his wife Donna Pfister Johnson, two daughters: Ronna (Mike) Keith, Lynn (Rick) Darragh; two grandchildren: Katherine Darragh and William Keith.

At his request, he was cremated with no services planned at this time.

Ronald Chester Johnson 1943 - 2023

James F. "Jim" Broker was born June 15, 1939 in Oregon, Missouri, and graduated from Mound City High School in 1958.&nbsp;

On September 2, 1958 Jim married Mary Jane Dwyre. To this union two daughters were born. Jim worked construction early in their marriage. In July 1965 he began working for the CB&amp;Q Railroad as a telegraph operator. The CB&amp;Q merged with Burlington Northern Railroad and Jim worked as a railroad agent until his retirement in 1988.

After retirement he worked for the local Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge (now Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge) near Mound City at the front desk, and assisted the refuge naturalist and park ranger in teaching young people about wildlife, the environment and refuge management.&nbsp;

Jim worked as a deputy for the Mound City police department. This inspired his creation of a digital book published in 2014 called, "The Last Marshall." Jim and Mary also owned and operated a real estate agency in Mound City in the 1980's.&nbsp;

Jim was an avid writer and photographer. Over the years Jim wrote and published "Evening Light," a Christian newsletter. He also wrote articles for the St. Joseph News Press and for various magazines. While living in Union, Mississippi in 2001 and 2002 he wrote and edited a weekly column for the Union Appeal newspaper. Jim also had a photography studio in Forest City in the 1970's. Among his many other interests were reloading, archery, leather work, ham radio operator, and target practice.

Most important to Jim was the work of the Lord. He served as pastor at Benton Church in Forest City and later in Gentryville, Missouri, Urich, Missouri, and then Union, Mississippi. He held various revivals all over many states.

Jim felt most called as an evangelist. He traveled through Mexico, Belize, and British Honduras on foot with good friend and fellow minister James Huskey. Jim later traveled to Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand in the late 1980's spreading the word of God.

Jim faithfully read his Bible every night from a young age due to the influence of his grandparents Ezra and Ida Martin, whom he lived with during his formative years.&nbsp;

Jim and Mary celebrated 60 years of marriage before Mary passed away on February 18, 2019. Jim passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at a St. Joseph, Missouri care center. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Survivors include his daughters, Catherine Elizabeth Younger of Mound City, Missouri and Mary Ann (Gus) Pardo of Big Lake Village; four grandchildren, Joshua (Sirena) Younger, Katie Leach, Jason (Falisha) Leach, and Austin Leach; six great grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters. Jim and Mary's biggest request was for all the family to make Heaven their home.&nbsp;

He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Services: Wednesday, September 6, 2023, 2:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Interment: Benton Church Cemetery. Memorials: Benton Church Cemetery or to the Broker family.

Dearle James Wamsley, 75, passed away peacefully at home on August 26, 2023 in Smithville, Missouri surrounded by his family. &nbsp;

Dearle was born during a blizzard in January 1948, at the home of the local doctor. He was the son of Eunice and Daniel Wamsley, and grew up on a farm in Whiting, Kansas, learning the importance of hard work and the love of family. Dearle graduated High School in 1966 and then joined the United States Air Force. A small-town man at heart, he was thrust out to explore more of the world during his time stationed at Hickam Air Force base in Hawaii and Yokota Air Force Base in Japan. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he returned home to Nebraska and married his high school sweetheart, Charlene.&nbsp;

After the family moved to Kansas City, he completed his education as an aircraft mechanic and excelled in his field. Dearle enjoyed a long career with Trans World Airlines where he worked from 1974 until his retirement. He was a mechanic to his core, whether it be car or plane engines. His skills carried over from his profession, and he went above and beyond in every task to ensure they were completed with such quality they would pass any inspection. This profession ignited the true passion he had for flying - a passion that continued through to the end of his life.

He passed along these interests to his children, starting with them bringing him tools to holding the flashlight from the time they were toddlers and could barely walk. During their teenage years, you were most likely to find them sitting in an engine compartment or lying on their backs under a car with their heads next to their dad’s. They have continued to share his love of cars, being able to fix most any problem and restoring classic Chargers and MOPARs for their own enjoyment.

He was never interested in taking the quickest route from one point to another, always finding the most scenic back roads, coasting over the hills, looking out for wildlife, and the next story to tell when he finally arrived at his destination.

Dearle never met a stranger and would strike up conversations wherever he went. He always wanted to know more about the people he met, and they recognized the pure kindness of his spirit and the genuine interest he had in their lives.

In retirement, he was able to spend even more time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed talking to his many friends in Smithville and Nebraska, discussing cars, farming, collecting various one of a kind items, and occasionally sharing stories over a few cuss words and a cold Busch beer. He was a passionate gardener, which allowed him to spend time tending to his family’s land and appreciate the beauty that nature provided. His love for the outdoors brought out his gentle free spirit, but he was the happiest in the company of his family and friends.&nbsp;

Nothing brought more joy to his face and sparkle to his eyes than the pride he felt for his children and grandchildren. He would never take credit for the qualities they portrayed, giving credit for their intelligence and good grades to Charlene, their accomplishments to his children, and not realizing much of the gentleness and honesty they demonstrated were a reflection of himself.

During our time of grief, it has brought us some comfort watching Dearle continuing to experience the things he loved the most. He was able to spend quality time at Roosterville Airport and taking evening flights with his grandson who has developed his love of flying. And just a couple of weeks before he passed, Dearle was able to attend a tractor show with his family and demonstrate the knowledge and interest he had in tractors and old steam engines. Despite being in poor condition, he never wore out or became fatigued while pointing out features and continuing to share his interests.&nbsp;

Dearle’s lasting legacy will always be his profound desire to help and love everyone he met.&nbsp;

Graveside Military Honors will be Friday, September 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd, Leavenworth, KS 66048.

Dearle James Wamsley 1948 - 2023

JoAnne (Jody) Bruggen, 94, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away on Sat. Aug. 26th, 2023, at her home in Kansas City, MO, surrounded by family.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, Oct. 7th, 2023, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Atchison, Kansas with Fr. Jon Hullinger, Rector, officiating. 

A private interment will be in the Trinity Episcopal Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Garden, the Atchison Children's Library, or Crossroads Hospice, and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home who is handling the arrangements. Jody was born on July 12, 1929, in Rochelle, IL, the daughter of Lloyd A. and Margaret (Shear) Koritz. She graduated Salutatorian from Rochelle Township High School, Rochelle IL. She graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Development and Family Relations. 

Jody worked as Director/Teacher of the Atchison YMCA Preschool and the Neenah, WI YMCA Preschool. She was President of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and was a member of the Panhellenic Council. She was elected to the Sigma Chi Sweetheart Court. Jody enjoyed sports in her youth and swam competitively. Mrs. Bruggen was a past President, Vice President, Secretary and Director of the Atchison Hospital Auxiliary, a past Vice President and Secretary of the Atchison Library Board of Trustees, a Girl Scout Leader, member of the Bellevue Country Club, National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in Kansas and traveled to the United Kingdom to participate in their founders’ activities. She served as Secretary for the Atchison Art Association, publicity chairman for the Riverbend Art Fair, Chairman for the National Endowment for Performing Arts 3rd Grade Art Pilot Project, Board member of the Atchison Community Theatre, Publicity Chairman for the United Way Drive &amp; Hospital Auxiliary Follies. 

She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church where she served as a former Sunday School Teacher and on the Altar Guild, Flower Ministry, and member of the St. Martha’s Guild. Jody was a loving wife, mother, and doting grandmother. She had a terrific sense of humor. She made us and all who cared for her laugh and had a way of making life feel lighter even up until the end. However, her life’s most enduring legacy is the incomparable and ceaseless love she gave her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. From her warm hugs to the delicious meals and desserts she prepared, she nourished her family in countless ways. No accomplishment by her children or grandchildren was too small to celebrate. To her family’s irritation at times, she endlessly documented her loves ones’ lives and times spent together with photographs and scrapbooks that will be a treasured testament to the deep love she gave. Jody was a super nurturer who cared deeply for her family and friends. She was a voracious reader, supporter of many charities, genealogist researcher, avid KU fan, and lover of life. She enjoyed family vacations spent in Cabo San Lucas, Baja and the family lake home in Park Rapids, MN. When we think of Jody, we like to picture her here with a good book, laying out and enjoying the sun, on a perfect blue-sky day. Jody was married to her college sweetheart, Richard J. “Dick” Bruggen on June 30, 1951, in Rochelle, IL. 

Mr. Bruggen preceded her in death on June 30, 2007.

JoAnne (Jody) Bruggen, 94, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away on Sat. Aug. 26th, 2023, at her home in Kansas City, MO, surrounded by family.Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, Oct. 7th, 2023, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Atchison, Kansas with Fr. Jody worked as Director/Teacher of the Atchison YMCA Preschool and the Neenah, WI YMCA Preschool. She was President of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and was a member of the Panhellenic Council. She was elected to the Sigma Chi Sweetheart Court. Jody enjoyed sports in her youth and swam competitively. Mrs. Bruggen was a past President, Vice President, Secretary and Director of the Atchison Hospital Auxiliary, a past Vice President and Secretary of the Atchison Library Board of Trustees, a Girl Scout Leader, member of the Bellevue Country Club, National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in Kansas and traveled to the United Kingdom to participate in their founders’ activities. She served as Secretary for the Atchison Art Association, publicity chairman for the Riverbend Art Fair, Chairman for the National Endowment for Performing Arts 3rd Grade Art Pilot Project, Board member of the Atchison Community Theatre, Publicity Chairman for the United Way Drive &amp; Hospital Auxiliary Follies. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church where she served as a former Sunday School Teacher and on the Altar Guild, Flower Ministry, and member of the St. Martha’s Guild. Jody was a loving wife, mother, and doting grandmother. She had a terrific sense of humor. She made us and all who cared for her laugh and had a way of making life feel lighter even up until the end. However, her life’s most enduring legacy is the incomparable and ceaseless love she gave her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. From her warm hugs to the delicious meals and desserts she prepared, she nourished her family in countless ways. No accomplishment by her children or grandchildren was too small to celebrate. To her family’s irritation at times, she endlessly documented her loves ones’ lives and times spent together with photographs and scrapbooks that will be a treasured testament to the deep love she gave. Jody was a super nurturer who cared deeply for her family and friends. She was a voracious reader, supporter of many charities, genealogist researcher, avid KU fan, and lover of life. She enjoyed family vacations spent in Cabo San Lucas, Baja and the family lake home in Park Rapids, MN. When we think of Jody, we like to picture her here with a good book, laying out and enjoying the sun, on a perfect blue-sky day. Jody was married to her college sweetheart, Richard J. “Dick” Bruggen on June 30, 1951, in Rochelle, IL. Mr. Bruggen preceded her in death on June 30, 2007. She attended Lafayette High School,  and she was a home health care Caretaker. She enjoyed taking care of people, she loved music, like the under ground Memphis rap, and her cat baby Bat.

Loric Lippard, 48, of St. Joseph passed away August 28, 2023, at his home. Loric was born December 30, 1974 in Pontiac, Michigan to Clint and Mary (Good) Lippard.

He was a graduate of King City High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University. He worked at several organizations close to our hearts including Progressive Community Services, Silgan Containers and most recently, Nestle Purina.

Loric married the love of his life, Allison Saxton on October 8, 2011, in Oregon, MO. They lived in St. Joseph with their son Elijah, and their beloved dogs, Willow, and Pugsley. Surviving family members include Allison and Elijah, as well as his brothers Mike Lippard, Cliff Lippard (Elizabeth), and eleven nieces and nephews. He was so deeply loved.

He enjoyed throwing cards and cracking packs with his brother Cliff, storytelling with his friends and family around a campfire and most of all he loved to laugh.

Shelly Annette (Rahm) Daffron 59, of Saint Joseph, MO passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023 at her home in Saint Joseph, MO. She was born November 14, 1963 in St. Joseph, MO. 

She graduated from Central High School and worked as a bar tender at Hammer Heads for 15 hears, Nortys Bar and Grill for 5 years, and most recently at the Eagles Lodge. She married Dennis on June 20, 2012 and he survives of the home. She enjoyed traveling, shopping at Ross's, flowers and plants, and spending time with her children, grandkids, and friends. She also loved throwing parties, and was a member of the Eagles Lodge. 

Shelly was preceded in death by father, Dennis Rahn, and sister, Sharee Lynn Brandt. 

Survivors include husband, Dennis Daffron of the home, mother, Sherry Hovey (Chuck"Cowboy" Dubois, St. Joseph, MO, sons, Nathan (Tabatha) Brant and Bryson (Morgan) Brant of St. Joseph, MO, sister, Kelly (Paul) Robreau of Lake Ozark, MO, grandsons, Tatum Shelter, and Seth Shellito, granddaughter, Scarlett Brant, as well as several nieces &nbsp;&amp; nephews.

Melvin "Russ" Marrs, known as Russ, passed away on August 26, 2023, at the age of 86. Born on September 25, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, he lived a fulfilling and joyful life.

Russ was a proud veteran, serving his country valiantly in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958. He was a man of unwavering strength and courage. Post his military service, he married the love of his life, Rosemary Travis, sharing almost 50 years of marital bliss before her passing in 2005.

A loving father, Russ is survived by his children, Sean Marrs (Mandy), and Elizabeth West. He relished his role as a grandfather, cherishing his grandchildren, Hayden Marrs (Emily), Dylan Marrs, and Erica White. His joy multiplied with the arrival of his great-grandchildren, Abel White and Jupiter Ingleheart. His sister Mildred Brooks; brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Sally McIntyre, Janice McCormack, Martha Ideker (Ron), and Sam Creed, along with numerous nieces and nephews, also survive him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Mildred (Bolda) Marrs, his son, Troy Marrs, brothers Chuck (Donna) and Ronald (Virginia) Marrs, and his in-laws, Dorothy and Denzil Travis; brothers-and-sister-in-law, Sonny McCormack, Owen McIntyre, Ralph Travis, Jerry Travis, Linda Creed; nephew, Eric McIntyre.

He was born August 23, 1960 to Monte Dee Sr and Pat Ruth (Lane) Yager in St. Joseph, MO. He grew up in St. Joseph and graduated Lafayette High School.&nbsp;

In 1984 he was united in marriage to Dina Nelson. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph and had two children.&nbsp;

Wes worked at Continental Screw Conveyor in St. Joseph for over 20 years and retired from Summit Truck Bodies in Wathena, KS. He was an avid outdoorsman and a car and truck enthusiast.

Wes was preceded in death by his mother and his daughter, Christine Marie Yager.

He is survived by his son, Cole Yager; father, Monte Yager, Sr; brother, Monte Yager, Jr and wife, Becky; grandson, Andrew Bennett; former wife, Dina Yager; several nieces; other relatives and friends.

On August 25, 2023, Joyce Lynne (Morgan) Gandy passed away peacefully at her home in Gower, MO surrounded by her family.&nbsp;

Joyce was born to Alfred Leroy and Frances Irene (Hibler) Morgan on September 13, 1942, in Independence, MO. 

She grew up in Kansas City, MO where she graduated from East High School. In 1961, she met the love of her life, Dale Gandy, and they united in marriage later that year on September 1st. Dale and Joyce built their first home in Trimble, MO, where they resided until later moving to a farm outside of Gower, MO that would become their forever home.&nbsp;The light of Joyce’s life were her children and grandchildren. Her happiest times were caring for her grandchildren when they were young, often taking them on outings to the Mid-Continent Public Library in Edgerton, MO. A major fulfillment in her life was making sure others always had something to bring them happiness. 

For approximately thirty years, she found joy in delivering books and visiting with residents in various care facilities in surrounding areas as well as making sure every resident had a wrapped gift to open during the Christmas season. Joyce found the good in everyone and it was not uncommon to be called “Sweetie” in her presence. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be missed dearly. 

There was no kinder or more genuine soul than Joyce on this planet and she will be irreplaceable to all those who knew and loved her.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband Dale Gandy; parents Alfred Leroy and Frances Irene Morgan; brother Wilson “Bud” Morgan; and favorite dog Harley.&nbsp;

David Leon Wilson, 61, of Lancaster, KS died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, of an apparent heart attack at the Amberwell Health Care Center, Atchison, KS.

A Celebration of Life service will begin at 6:00 pm on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:00 pm. The body will be cremated following the services and the burial of his cremated remains will be at a later date in the Pleasanton Cemetery, Pleasanton, KS. David was born on June 27, 1962, in Ft. Scott, KS, the son of Richard L. and Marjorie (Weems) Wilson.

 He graduated from Pleasanton High School in Pleasanton, KS. He earned a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Pittsburg State University. 

David worked as a Lab Technician in hospitals around the area including Winchester, Horton, formerly Atchison Hospital, Truman Medical Center, KC, St. Frances Hospital, Topeka, Mosaic Hospital, St. Joseph and presently at Amberwell Health, Atchison. 

He was a member of the Bikers for Babies, Bikers Against Child Abuse, and enjoyed motorcycle riding and traveling on his bike. His last rides were to the Devils Tower, North Dakota and the Tail of the Dragon, in North Carolina. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with family.

He was married to Valerie Hunt on September 21, 1996. They were later divorced. Survivors include his daughters, Mikayla Wilson, Atchison, and Ashley (Nathan) Stark, Winchester, KS, sons Jerome Brown, Basehor, KS, Jeremy Brown and Josh Brown, both of Parkville, MO, Jerrett Brown, Leavenworth, KS, and Joseph Hunt, Atchison, KS, a brother Dennis (Susan) Weems, Salina, KS, and two grandchildren, Lilyan Stark, and Dalton Hunt.

Donna Jean Shreve 96, of Savannah, went to be with the Lord Friday, August 25, 2023 at Laverna Village in Savannah. She married Otis Shreve on June 20, 1945 in Shannondoah, Iowa and he preceded her in death.

Donna grew up near Fillmore, MO and after her marriage they moved to South Dakota then settled in Ames, Iowa. After her husband passed Donna, with Jackie and Linda, returned to St Joseph then finally to Savannah. She retired from the Andrew County Health Department. After retirement she loved to spend time outdoors. She loved to tend to her flower garden in front of her home every year.

Survivors include daughter, Jackie McNair of Savannah; brother, Ed Steeby; sister, Faye Atkins; and granddaughter, Sarah Fisher. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Linda Kay Fisher; siblings, Zelpha Steeby, Mildred Johnston, Bill Steeby, Floyd Steeby, and Bernita Hughes. &nbsp;

Tyler Joseph Wilmes, 38 of Bolckow passed away Friday, August 25, 2023. He was born in St. Joseph, MO on July 2, 1985 to Roger and Marilyn (Rosenbaum) Wilmes. He married Tiffany Cox in Rosendale, MO in May of 2010 and she survives of the home.

Tyler enjoyed coaching softball and baseball teams of his children. He never met a stranger. He was involved in tractor pulling and was a member of the Northwest Tractor Pulling Association. He loved working on the farm, boating, and spending time with his family. &nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Tiffany, mother, Marilyn; children, Maddox Wilmes and Makenna Goldizen; brothers, Timothy (Heather) Wilmes and Tristen (Leigh) Wilmes; god sister, Samantha Thuringer; in-laws, Richard (Retha) Leader and Cindy Leader; brother-in-laws, Seth Leader, Zach Leader, and Jake Leader; nieces and nephews, Gracie Wilmes, Raylen Leader, Tyson Wilmes, Corbin Wilmes, and Cayden Wilmes; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and family. Tobi Rae Cox 65 of Savannah passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at a local hospital in St. Joseph. Tobi was born July 29, 1958 to Wilber Boicourt and Sharon Nelson. She married David Cox III in St. Joseph on July 10, 1976 and he preceded her in death.

Tobi was tiny, but had the biggest of hearts. She adored her family, animals, friends, and traveling. She loved spending time with family and friends, working on her family genealogy, and used to compete in several tractor pulls. To know her was to love her.

Survivors include her brother, Russell Nelsen of St. Joseph; sister-in -laws, Shirley Simmons and Evelyn Muse both of St. Joseph; with many nieces’, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. &nbsp;

Susanne Arnold, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, following a wonderfully lived life.

Surrounded by love, she is survived by her husband Jerry, with whom she shared an incredible journey spanning 70 years of companionship and devotion.

Susanne's love and care extended to her children: Tim (Tammy) Arnold of St. Joseph, MO; Joseph Arnold (Cynthia) of Indianapolis, IN; Jon Arnold of St. Joseph, MO; and preceded in death by her beloved daughter Shelly Scott, who remains cherished in our memory.&nbsp;Her legacy continues through her 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, a testament to the beautiful family she nurtured over the years. She was preceded in death by her grandchild Ella Reese Scott.

She was welcomed home by parents Lester and Gladys (Slater) Jarret, brothers Robert (Bob), Donald (Bud), Jerry and James Jarrett, sister Janie Daring, and two half-sisters, Dorothy Valentine and Harriet Fellows. Her parents had instilled in their children a love for each other that has been passed down through several generations and persists today.&nbsp;

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, evident through her membership at The Clarksdale Baptist Church, where she joyfully played the piano for 30 years. Her spirituality was an integral part of who she was.

In 1964, Susanne lent her voice to the Sweet Adelines. The chorus of her life also included singing in the choir while a member at Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church.

A new chapter began in 1972, as she and Jerry embarked on the adventure of Arnold's Grocery in Clarksdale Mo, a grocery store that became a part of the community &nbsp;for 15 remarkable years and a part of their lives together for which they are fondly remembered. For over two decades, she devotedly served her community as a driver for OATS Transit, touching the lives of many and leaving behind a legacy of kindness and service.&nbsp;Among her many passions, her deep reffection for her grandchildren stood out prominently. Their happiness and well-being held a special place in her heart, reflecting her nurturing and selfless nature.

As we fondly remember Susanne Arnold, let us celebrate the love, warmth, and compassion she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit lives on in the hearts she touched, and her memory will forever bring smiles to those who hold her dear.

As we bid her a temporary farewell, her laughter and unwavering love will continue to live on within us, reminding us to live life in such a way as to honor her memory.

Helen J. Mosher, 91, St. Joseph, MO; went to her heavenly home while surrounded by family, Friday, August 25, 2023. Helen was born on April 16, 1932, in Highland, Kansas to Charles and Jessie (Curry) Meers.

She married George E. Mosher on February 14, 1957, in St. Joseph, MO. Together they had three children, Jason, Melanie, and Tracy.

Helen was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She loved to decorate for her favorite holiday, Christmas, and if you looked close you could find a Christmas tree in her house all year long. She also enjoyed garage sales, walking, and Senior Saints Luncheons.&nbsp;

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jessie Meers, her husband, George Mosher, son Jason Mosher, and daughter Melanie Mosher.

She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Whorton, of King City, MO;&nbsp; grandchildren, Jessica Newberry (Ryan), Jonathan Lewis (Brandi), Robbie Pfleiderer, and Hannah Pfleiderer (Cody Chapman) &nbsp;Great-grandchildren; Hailey, Tanner, Dallas, Rose, Cash, Leslie, Cody, Parker, Ben, Boston, and Baylee. Numerous &nbsp;nephews, and nieces, including Tammy Hulet, Lori Schoenfelder, and Patti Bennett, and her beloved dog, Gideon.

Sue Baublit, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 25, 2023.

She was born January 12, 1932 in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma to William and Audrey (Hawks) Herron.

Sue married Monroe B. Baublit on June 26, 1947 and were married for 51 years before his passing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, all of her siblings, and multiple grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, George Baublit, Pam Manson (Bill), Monty Baublit (Debbie); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Sue Baublit 1932 - 2023

John M. Weber, 71, beloved family man and friend to many, passed away after a brief battle with brain cancer, on Friday, August 25, 2023. Born on August 8, 1952, in St. Joseph, MO, John was a cherished son to the late Martin and Stephanie (Mihelich) Weber.

John leaves behind a beautiful family including his wife, Vada Leanne Weber; children, Brook Weber, Laura Blackmore, and Shane Weber (Wendy Le); grandchildren, Judah and Hazel. His sister, Stephanie Heater, his three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews also mourn his loss.

A proud alumnus of Christian Brothers class of 1970, John devoted 42 years of his life to the Albaugh Chemical Company, rising to the position of Production Manager. His professional commitment was matched by his love for the life he built outside of work.

John was an avid golfer and an unwavering Chiefs and Royals fan. He had a penchant for road trips and derived immense pleasure in planning and implementing them. His love for his home saw him build three family homes and maintain a beautiful yard. His green thumb had a magic touch, making gardens bloom and flourish.

Described as lovingly mischievous, John was known for his quick wit which got him out of many tricky situations. His grandchildren were his prized treasures.

Acknowledged as a beacon of love, wisdom, and joy by all who knew him, John M. Weber will be profoundly missed.

Billie “Bill” Ray Patton, a loving husband, father, grandfather and devoted friend, passed away Friday, August 25, 2023, at his home after a short battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Eula Patton.

Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon; his son, Brett (Gena) of Columbia, Missouri; daughter, Debra (Dustin) Patrick of O’Fallon, Missouri; granddaughter, Taylor Patton of Kansas City, Missouri; grandson, Bennett Patton of Columbia, Missouri; sister, Marilyn (Frank) Power of St. Joseph, Missouri; nephew, Brad Power (Lori) of St. Joseph; many special friends he thought of as family; cousins; and granddogs, Verzi and Merle.

Bill graduated from Lafayette High School in 1961 and Northwest Missouri State University, and was employed by American Family Mutual Insurance Company for 39 years.

He spent many happy hours on a ballpark bench being a very proud Grandpa, watching softball and baseball. Bill enjoyed golfing with his many buddies at Moila.

As a member of a small group at Brookdale Presbyterian Church, he enjoyed sharing God’s love and support. His church family was an important part of his life.
