Melvin "Russ" Marrs, known as Russ, passed away on August 26, 2023, at the age of 86. Born on September 25, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, he lived a fulfilling and joyful life.
Russ was a proud veteran, serving his country valiantly in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958. He was a man of unwavering strength and courage. Post his military service, he married the love of his life, Rosemary Travis, sharing almost 50 years of marital bliss before her passing in 2005.
A loving father, Russ is survived by his children, Sean Marrs (Mandy), and Elizabeth West. He relished his role as a grandfather, cherishing his grandchildren, Hayden Marrs (Emily), Dylan Marrs, and Erica White. His joy multiplied with the arrival of his great-grandchildren, Abel White and Jupiter Ingleheart. His sister Mildred Brooks; brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Sally McIntyre, Janice McCormack, Martha Ideker (Ron), and Sam Creed, along with numerous nieces and nephews, also survive him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Mildred (Bolda) Marrs, his son, Troy Marrs, brothers Chuck (Donna) and Ronald (Virginia) Marrs, and his in-laws, Dorothy and Denzil Travis; brothers-and-sister-in-law, Sonny McCormack, Owen McIntyre, Ralph Travis, Jerry Travis, Linda Creed; nephew, Eric McIntyre.
