KDOT: More SpaceX tanks moving from St. Joe across Kansas

A Buchanan County jury has found a St. Joseph man guilty on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving with a revoked license.

57-year-old Jeffrey Lynn Nichols of St. Joseph was found guilty of the class C felony of driving while intoxicated as a chronic offender and the class E felony of driving while revoked following a one-day trial on Wednesday.

Nichols was intoxicated at almost three times the legal limit when his vehicle left the road back in late November of 2022.  A homeowner found Nichols sitting inside the vehicle, which was inoperable after the wreck.

Sentencing is set for September 29th. Nichols could face up to 14 years in prison.

As the first day of school approaches, St. Joseph school
officials hope to fill vacancies.

School board member Whiney Lanning says about 20 teachers were
hired this week with more teachers needed. Lanning, though, is quick to point
out the St. Joseph School District needs more than just teachers.

“I think it’s important to keep in mind that not all those are
classroom positions and the classroom positions are really taking priority
right now,” Lanning tells host Barry Birr on the KFEQ Hotline. “The priority will be classrooms and then some of those
positions on that long list of open positions are extracurricular positions,
those types of things.”

Lanning says administrators feel the pressure, not just to
fill vacancies before school starts this year, but to also address the
long-term needs of the district.

“It’s no secret that there’re a lot of things in our district
that need to be addressed and improved upon,” Lanning says. “So, they’re really
tasked with getting ready for the school year and providing great education and
support to our staff, like they would any other year. But then also coming up
with strategies to improve the district long term.”

The school board also is asking district residents to get
involved in the five committees that suggest policy to the board.

School board member Rick Gehring is a member of the Facilities
Committee, which he calls a fiery committee, because of the emotions attached
to all the various St. Joseph schools. Gehring says district patrons can have a
voice in any decisions on the future of schools.

“I just think it’s imperative that, because they’re all going
to be tough decisions coming down the road, and I think it’s imperative that we
have a vision put out there for the community that here’s a tough decision
that’s coming, but please look beyond it, because this is why we’re doing what
we’re doing.” Gehring says during his appearance on the Hotline.

ahead.

“It is no secret that our district and the facilities that we
are in have been largely neglected,” Lanning says. “Our feeder patterns don’t
make a lot of sense. Our boundaries don’t make a lot of sense. I think that’s
why you see the inequity between the enrollment of the high schools,
specifically”

Lanning says the school board has kicked the issue down the
road for too long and must deal with it.

Two school board members and three members of the public sit
on each of the five committees:&nbsp; Culture Committee,
Retention and Recruitment Committee, Academics Committee, Facilities Committee,
and Finance Committee.

St. Joseph still looking for teachers, others as 1st day of school approaches

An 18-year-old St. Joseph man faces charges in Kentucky,
accused of crossing the state line and sexually assaulting a minor.

Owensboro police arrested Caleb Newell after an investigation
accused him of engaging in multiple sexual acts with a 12-year-old.

The Owensboro, Kentucky Police Department reports officers
found Newell sleeping in a vacant Owensboro residence early Wednesday morning.
An investigation led the department to accuse Newell of traveling to Kentucky
to have sex with a 12-year-old girl he had met online.

Newell is in the Daviess County jail, charged with 2nd
degree sodomy, 2nd degree rape, as well as criminal trespassing, and
providing a false name.

Global shocks over the past few years have created an unprecedented “polycrisis” that has disproportionately hurt small-scale farmers and people living in food-deficit countries. 

The data comes from a new report commissioned by Farm Journal Foundation. 

The COVID-19 pandemic, conflicts including the Russia-Ukraine war, and climate change have created far-reaching impacts across global food systems, affecting food, fertilizer, feed, fuel, and financing available to producers. 

The resulting polycrisis has left humanity vulnerable to future “black swan” moments that could have even more severe and far-reaching consequences for global food supplies. 

One of the researchers says, “Already, millions of smallholder farmers and their families were teetering on the edge of survival due to long-term structural challenges, and this polycrisis has pushed countless into disaster.” 

To alleviate global food insecurity, the report says the U.S. should invest more in international agricultural research and innovation. More research is needed across climate change adaptation and mitigation, soil health and nutrient management, crop diversity and nutrition, access to markets and finance, supply chain infrastructure, and local capacity building.

The National Weather Service warns heat index values could
range from 105 to 110 throughout the Midland Empire.

The Weather Service issued the heat advisory until 9 o’clock
Friday evening, warning that hot temperatures combined with high humidity may
cause heat illnesses. Area residents are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids
and limit outdoor activities.

Also, young children and pets should never be left unattended
in vehicles under any circumstances. Weather officials suggest checking on
relatives and neighbors, especially the elderly.

It will be sunny today with the forecast calling for a high of
101, with a heat index that might reach as high as 110.

Not much of a cool off is expected this evening with the NWS
forecasting a low of 78 overnight.

Sunny and hot Friday, perhaps just a bit hotter with a high
near 102, a heat index again nearing 110.

While NWS expects a high Sunday to back off a little to 90
degrees, it expects temperatures to rise early next week with a high Monday of
95 and Tuesday at 99.

Police report a single shot hit the door of an apartment at
2209 Union Street shortly before nine o’clock Wednesday night. The shot was
fired from the hallway. No one was harmed in the shooting. No arrests have been
made.

Fire heavily damages St. Joseph auto shop, causes visibility problems on I-29

Eric Greitens, the disgraced former Missouri governor whose Senate campaign cratered last year under allegations of domestic abuse, tip-toed back onto the political stage this week with a column for a pro-Trump news site declaring Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ presidential hopes dead.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In the column entitled “Accept It, Already: DeSantis is Done,” Greitens writes that DeSantis “refuses to accept reality” that Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee for president next year.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“DeSantis is done — and for many, myself included, it’s not personal,” Greitens wrote. “We’re in a fight that’s too important, perhaps, the greatest this nation has ever faced: To restore the power to the people.”

DeSantis is the pick of “the establishment,” Greitens contends, and is being “fueled by their money, their airwaves or their henchmen.”&nbsp;

Republicans must nominate “the man with the scars,” Greitens wrote, “who’s taken their arrows and goes back to the mat every single time. From where I stand, only one man fits that bill: President Donald J. Trump.”

Greitens going all in for Trump is no surprise, as his attempt at a political comeback last year hinged on winning over the former president’s supporters.&nbsp;

In the run up to the 2022 U.S. Senate election, Greitens more than any other candidate in the crowded field latched himself to Trump and the grievances that fueled his rise — from lies about a stolen election to the alleged betrayal of so-called “RINOs.”&nbsp;

Greitens was trying to shake off the scandals that drove him from office four years earlier, including accusations that&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article208375284.html">he sexually assaulted a women</a>&nbsp;with whom he was having an affair and that he&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article209422724.html">stole from a veteran’s charity he founded</a>.

In the end, Trump’s endorsement — seen as Greitens’ only hope to win the hotly contested Senate race — fell flat, with the former president&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/08/01/trump-greitens-missouri-senate/">throwing his support behind “Eric”</a>&nbsp;and refusing to clarify whether he meant Greitens or the eventual winner, Eric Schmitt.&nbsp;

It was an ignominious conclusion to a campaign that derailed over accusations by Greitens’ ex-wife that&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://missouriindependent.com/2022/04/05/sheena-greitens-says-she-has-photos-records-to-document-abuse-by-former-missouri-governor/">he physically abused her and his children</a>. Those claims were made in a sworn affidavit by the former First Lady as part of a child custody dispute, and were amplified by&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://missouriindependent.com/2022/06/27/pac-attack-eric-greitens-missouri-senate-primary/">more than $1 million in TV ads</a>&nbsp;aired in the run up to the GOP primary.&nbsp;

With his political comeback dead, Greitens once again retreated from the public spotlight. His federal campaign committee is largely dormant, and he shuttered his state committee in November and donated all of its leftover money&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/government-politics/former-missouri-governor-eric-greitens-gives-big-to-charity-formed-by-ex-campaign-manager/article_9322e086-271c-11ee-bb3c-ab264c83488f.html">to a nonprofit run by his former campaign manager</a>.&nbsp;

His column this week in support of Trump, who is himself attempting a political comeback despite being awash in scandal and indictments, marks the first sight of Greitens since his child custody dispute&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://missouriindependent.com/2022/09/11/missouri-judge-sealed-greitens-ruling-texas-court-provided-full-details/">was transferred to Texas late last year</a>.

In moving the case, a Boone County judge concluded there was “<a target="_blank" href="https://missouriindependent.com/2022/07/12/eric-greitens-hopes-for-a-u-s-senate-seat-hinge-on-how-missouri-voters-see-his-past/">no pattern of domestic violence</a>” by Greitens.&nbsp;

The former governor declared himself exonerated, pointing the finger at the media for publicizing the charges. His ex-wife, however, said she never alleged a “pattern” of abuse — only claiming instances of abuse when Greitens was angry or stressed.

A year after Missouri Senate campaign collapse, Eric Greitens reemerges 

St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce officials host members of the
Hawthorn Foundation this week for the first time.

Chamber President Natalie Redmond, who serves as the treasurer
for the Hawthorn Foundation, says St. Joseph is going all out for this visit.

“Why this is critical to economic development in St. Joseph;
it’s the first time we’ve hosted this group,” Redmond tells host Barry Birr on

United States egg production totaled 9.08 billion during June 2023, up four percent from the same time last year. 

USDA’s monthly Chicken and Eggs report shows production included 7.78 billion table eggs, and 1.3 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.2 billion were broiler-type and 95.8 million were egg-type. 

The average number of layers during June 2023 totaled 387 million, up five percent from last year. 

June egg production per 100 layers was 2,348 eggs, down one percent from June 2022. Total layers in the United States on July 1, 2023, were 386 million, up five percent from last year. 

The 386 million layers consisted of 317 million layers producing table or market-type eggs, 65.0 million layers producing broiler-type hatching eggs, and 3.69 million layers producing egg-type hatching eggs. U.S. egg production increased in June

The Department of Agriculture Tuesday announced Emergency Rural Health Care Grant recipients. 

Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small made the announcement in Charlottesville, Virginia. 

The funds will expand access to health care for more than five million people living in 39 states and Puerto Rico. 

Torres Small says, "USDA's Emergency Rural Health Care Grants are helping strengthen rural America's health care infrastructure to build for the future." 

USDA is awarding $129 million to improve healthcare facilities in rural towns nationwide. These grants will help 172 rural healthcare organizations expand critical services. The investments will help regional partnerships, public bodies, nonprofits and Tribes solve regional rural healthcare challenges. 

For example, in the Midwest, Southern Illinois Hospital Services is partnering with local healthcare organizations to build an in-patient psychiatric unit to address a regional need to expand access to mental healthcare services for people in Southern Illinois. USDA announces Emergency Rural Health Care Grants

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Families of transgender children on Tuesday sued to block a&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/transgender-missouri-republican-govenrnor-sports-d0d3ef01544dc7c22592d8ca2464138b">new Missouri law</a>&nbsp;banning gender-affirming health care for minors from taking effect as scheduled on Aug. 28.

The law will prohibit Missouri health care providers from providing puberty blockers, hormones and gender-affirming surgeries to minors. Minors prescribed puberty blockers or hormones before Aug. 28 would be able to continue to receive those treatments.

Missouri’s Planned Parenthood clinics had been ramping up available appointments and holding pop-up clinics to start patients on treatments ahead of the law taking effect.

Lawyers sued on behalf of three families of transgender minors, doctors and two LGBTQ+ organizations. They asked a Cole County judge to temporarily block the law as the court challenge against it plays out.

Lambda Legal attorney Nora Huppert in a statement said letting the law take effect “would deny adolescent transgender Missourians access to evidence-based treatment supported by the overwhelming medical consensus.”

“This law is not just harmful and cruel; it is life-threatening,” Huppert said.

Most adults will still have access to transgender health care under the law, but Medicaid won’t cover it and prisoners' access to surgeries will be limited.

Missouri's Republican Attorney General Andrew Bailey, who tried to ban minors' access to gender-affirming health care through rule change but&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/transgender-care-missouri-emergency-rule-withdrawn-c3ce483448f4013a6f46f666051db6b2">dropped the effort when the law passed</a>, is responsible for defending the legislation in court.

“There are zero FDA approvals of puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones to treat gender dysphoria in children," Bailey said in a statement. "We’re not going to let left-wing ideologues experiment on children here in the state of Missouri.”

The FDA approved puberty blockers 30 years ago to treat children with precocious puberty — a condition that causes sexual development to begin much earlier than usual. Sex hormones — synthetic forms of estrogen and testosterone — were approved decades ago to treat hormone disorders or as birth control pills.

The FDA has not approved the medications specifically to treat gender-questioning youth, but they have been used for many years for that purpose “off label,” a common and accepted practice for many medical conditions. Doctors who treat trans patients say those decades of use are proof the treatments are not experimental.”

Every major medical organization, including the American Medical Association, has opposed the bans on gender-affirming care for minors and supported the medical care for youth when administered appropriately. Lawsuits have been filed in several states where bans have been enacted this year.

Families sue to block Missouri's ban on gender-affirming health care for kids

History and cemetery enthusiasts are getting the opportunity during local history week to learn about one of St. Joseph's historical cemeteries.&nbsp;

Genealogy Librarian at the Downtown St. Joseph Library Marina Trifan is hosting a headstone cleaning workshop at the Adath Joseph Cemetery.&nbsp;

Trifan says this event, which is part of a local history week held every year, is designed for lovers of two things. &nbsp;

"This is mostly for kind of cemetery enthusiasts, local history enthusiasts, kind of anybody who's well interested just to learn about best practices for cleaning headstones and a little bit of history about the cemetery itself," Trifan tells KFEQ/St. Joseph Post.&nbsp;

Trifan says she was surprised by how quickly the slots for the event filled up. &nbsp;

"I've always really enjoyed visiting cemeteries and learning about them, I wasn't sure how shared that interest was going to be, but I think this will be the third that we've put on and each one fills up pretty much immediately so I am hoping to do another one in the fall, but that's still in the works," Trifan explains.&nbsp;

Trifan says those attending the workshop will learn the history of the Adath Joseph and also learn proper cleaning techniques for headstones. &nbsp;

Trifan says she chose the Adath Joseph Cemetery as the site for the workshop because it is often overlooked. &nbsp;

"It's right there next to Mount Auburn, everybody kind of thinks it's part of the same thing but it's separate, it's one of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in the area and the temple is still active and they're working on a lot of restoration projects for the actual temple," Trifan says. "So, the fact that I could help out with the cemetery was something I was really interested in doing."&nbsp;

The workshop on Friday is already full but Trifan says she hopes to hold another event in the fall that you can join the waitlist for. &nbsp;

Event goers on Friday will learn the history of the cemetery and also learn how to properly clean a headstone on some markers in the cemetery.&nbsp;

Workshop on Friday will teach people the history of the Adath Joseph Cemetery

ATCHISON COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just after 10a.m. Tuesday in Atchison.

According to Police Chief Mike Wilson, a Chevy pickup driven by Steven Metcalf, 65, Atchison was northbound in the 400 Block of U.S. 73.

The pickup was turning east into a business parking lot and struck&nbsp;a southbound bicycle ridden by Marie Moore, 60, Atchison, who was riding on the trail/sidewalk that runs parallel to U.S.73 on the east side of the highway. 

EMS transported Moore to Amberwell Hospital for examination. Police released no additional details.

Kansas woman injured after pickup strikes bicyclist 

A sunny Tuesday morning started the third day of Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp at Missouri Western and slowly became overcast through the practice that was moved up to just under two hours.  

Practice lasted an hour and fifty-five minutes and saw another large crowd at the practice fields at Missouri Western.  

The Chiefs have a young receiver room full of new guys and three new offensive linemen this training camp in St. Joseph.   

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes says as the practices move along, he likes to try different things to test some of those guys.  

"I feel like now I have a good sense of the offense obviously, so I like to try to do stuff and see how guys react," Mahomes tells reporters during the post practice press conference.  "I mean if that's using a lot of cadences throughout practice and see if the offensive line will sit in there with the new guys." 

One guy that has been absent from large team drills has been running back Isiah Pacheco, continuing to recover from offseason surgeries on a broken bone in his hand and a torn labrum. 

Pacheco has been getting limited work during training camp in St. Joseph though, so far donning that yellow non-contact jersey.   

Veteran running back Jerick McKinnon, who has dealt with his own injuries during his career, knows how badly Pacheco wants to work.   

"Everybody knows the energy he brings, his motor, the way he's engineered, and the way he works, but at the same time it's a process," Mckinnon says. "Not only is it about camp right now, but it's also about down the road and being healthy for the season, and then having that durability and lasting the season." 

Pacheco did take some reps during 7 on 7 drills during Tuesday’s practice at Missouri Western State University but was still held back from full team drills.   

The team will start padded practices on Friday. They'll be back in action tomorrow at 9:15am. 

New Chiefs defender working on a learning curve

Searching for a replacement for Frank Clark this past offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs signed defensive end Charles Omenihu. 

Omenihu says an Andy Reid training camp is living up to expectations, but with new schemes comes plenty of new things to learn.  

"I think the biggest difference is just dropping, that's something that I haven't done my whole career, so that's something that I'm everyday learning and asking questions and trying to get better at," Omenihu says. "But as far as the role of rushing inside and out, it's been good." 

Omenihu says that without Frank Clark and still no Chris Jones at camp, veterans like himself, Danny Shelton, and Derrick Nnadi have tried to help out some of the young guys during training camp in St. Joseph.  

Head coach Andy Reid says wide receiver Kadarius Toney had surgery on his knee Tuesday morning.  The timetable for his return is still unknown but Reid says he's hopeful for Toney to be back for the first game of the season.  Defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton is still on the physically unable to perform list and once again did not practice.  Rookie linebacker Isaiah Moore also left practice with some knee inflammation

Chiefs complete third day of practice at Missouri Western

Work progresses on just what improvements will be made to Krug
Park with the $12 million designated toward it from the voter-approved park
sales tax.

St. Joseph city officials held a public hearing last week to
gather input.

Assistant Parks Director Jeff Atkins says nothing members of
the public told officials really surprised them.

“But primarily I think the biggest concern, if we add them all
together, I think people are just wanting to make sure that we take care of what’s
there and preserve that the best we can,” Atkins tells KFEQ/St. Joseph Post.

Atkins says most want the city to make sure Krug Park remains
family-friendly, which is how Atkins envisions Krug Park.

“I just see the park being used as a place for families to
gather,” Atkins says. “That’s kind of our goal for all our parks, even in the
sports aspects of it; it’s families.”

The actual total the city has to spend on Krug is $13 million
when money from the Capital Improvement Program sales tax is added.

Structural problems have emerged with the castle. The
structural integrity of the tunnel, built in the 40s, needs to be evaluated.

“And, sadly, a lot of that money is going to be almost hidden
money,” Atkins says. “We could theoretically go up there and spend $2 or $3
million on the castle and when we get done it might not look much different
than it looks today.”

Yet, it appears that is what St. Joseph residents want. Atkins
says citizens have told the city to make sure to take care of what St. Joseph
has before considering additions.

“The money is going to be well spent, but it’s not all going
to be spent on new shiny things,” Atkins says. “It just can’t. We can’t neglect
what’s there just to get something new and shiny.”

Atkins says when he came up through the Parks Department
maintenance crew, he saw first-hand the deterioration of Krug Park due to a
lack of money.

“Finally having money to address that is just wonderful,”
Atkins says. “And hopefully at the same time to, we will be able to, if we don’t
put new things, hopefully we’ll be able to upgrade the current facilities enough
that it will make a huge difference to the public.”

A consulting firm will present conceptual drawings at a meeting
tentatively scheduled for September. Atkins says the city hopes to make a final
presentation to the city council at the end of the year.

money,” Atkins says. “We could theoretically go up there and spend $2 or $3
million on the castle and when we get done it might not look much different
than it looks today.”Yet, it appears that is what St. Joseph residents want. Atkins
says citizens have told the city to make sure to take care of what St. Joseph
has before considering additions.“The money is going to be well spent, but it’s not all going
to be spent on new shiny things,” Atkins says. “It just can’t. We can’t neglect
what’s there just to get something new and shiny.”Atkins says when he came up through the Parks Department
maintenance crew, he saw first-hand the deterioration of Krug Park due to a
lack of money.“Finally having money to address that is just wonderful,”
Atkins says. “And hopefully at the same time to, we will be able to, if we don’t
put new things, hopefully we’ll be able to upgrade the current facilities enough
that it will make a huge difference to the public.”A consulting firm will present conceptual drawings at a meeting
tentatively scheduled for September. Atkins says the city hopes to make a final

Input crucial in future of St. Joseph's Krug Park

California accounts for nearly all renewable diesel consumption in the United States, according to data released last week by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. 

California's consumption of renewable diesel was more than eight times the amount produced there in 2021. 

Instead, most of California’s renewable diesel was produced in other states or was imported. California’s renewable diesel consumption grew substantially after its Low Carbon Fuel Standard went into effect in 2011. 

Between 2011 and 2021, consumption grew from one million barrels to 28 million barrels per year, over 18 times its original volume. Six states—Louisiana, North Dakota, California, Wyoming, Washington, and Kansas—accounted for all renewable diesel production in the United States in 2021. 

Many of the plants in the other states have exclusive agreements to send all of the renewable diesel they produce to distributors in California. U.S. renewable diesel production capacity could more than double by 2025, boosting domestic production.

A group of lawmakers last week introduced legislation to exclude reporting of routine emissions from livestock farms to state and local emergency response authorities. 

The National Pork Producers Council supports the legislation. Pork producers and other livestock industries have engaged with federal and state regulators for decades over permitting and reporting of air emissions. 

This engagement has included both the air consent agreements that many producers signed, exempting them from having to file emergency reports to first responders. 

In 2018, Congress permanently exempted livestock farmers from having to report emissions under the Superfund law to the U.S. Coast Guard’s National Response Center. At the same time, EPA exempted those same farms from making similar reports to state and local first responders. 

Following litigation, the Biden Administration agreed to re-open that rulemaking to reconsider the exemption from the emergency release reporting rule. 

The new legislation would clarify that the 2018 Farms Act, and EPA’s prior regulations, were correct and that livestock farms should not be required to inundate local fire departments with emission reports.

Legislation would exempt farms from emission reporting

Missouri Treasurer Vivek Malek may have to fend off at least two of his fellow Republicans in the GOP primary next year, after another state legislator joined the race on Monday.&nbsp;

Malek, who was appointed treasurer by Gov. Mike Parson in January, was already facing a primary challenge by state Rep. Cody Smith, a Carthage Republican and chairman of the powerful House budget committee.&nbsp;

Smith officially launched his campaign earlier this month, though he signaled his intentions in April by filing paperwork with the state ethics commission declaring he would run for treasurer.

On Monday, state Sen. Andrew Koenig joined the race, kicking off his candidacy with a fundraiser in St. Louis. He told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he is running because “<a target="_blank" href="https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/government-politics/st-louis-county-senator-joins-race-for-state-treasurer/article_533d2fc4-2a39-11ee-9765-2f0386d9ecf8.html">we need conservatives up and down the state ticket</a>.”

The treasurer’s office was vacated by Scott Fitzpatrick last year after he was elected state auditor.&nbsp;

Since taking office, Malek has post huge fundraising totals — especially for a first-time candidate.&nbsp;

Between his candidate committee and an independent PAC created to boost his campaign, Malek reported roughly $2 million cash on hand this month. He recently launched a TV ad introducing him to voters by&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/MalekVivek/status/1682384804208160769">highlighting his journey from India to America</a>.&nbsp;

“There’s a lot that divides us,” Malek says in the ad. “But the one thing that unites us all is our love for this great country.”

Smith reported this month roughly $300,000 cash on hand between his campaign and supporting PAC. Koenig had around $80,000.&nbsp;

Lucas Johnson, a business owner from St. Louis County, is running in the race as a Democrat.

GOP primary for Missouri treasurer now a three-way race

CLINTON COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just after 8a.m. Monday in Clinton County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2014 Dodge Durango driven by Stephanie M. Robbins, 33, Gower, was southbound on U.S. 169 four miles south of Gower.

The vehicle turned left into the path of a northbound 2022 Chevy Trailblazer driven by Heidi R. Shoemaker, 45, Kansas City. The Durango struck the Trailblazer.

After impact, the Trailblazer became airborne and overturned. A private vehicle transported Shoemaker to North Kansas City Hospital. Robbins was not wearing a seat belt and refused treatment at the scene, according to the MSHP.
