Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has undergone shoulder surgery after battling injuries throughout his second season with the team.

 Worthy tore his labrum in the opening game of the season against the Los Angeles Chargers and also dealt with an ankle injury.&nbsp;Worthy was dealing with a shoulder injury as late as Week 8 of the 2025 season and then a week 13 injury report indicated issues with his ankle.&nbsp; Despite the injuries Worthy was never placed on injured reserve and finished out the season.&nbsp; 

Worthy finished the season with 42 catches, 532 yards, and one touchdown, missing three games due to injury.&nbsp; In a social media post, he expressed his determination for the next season on social media after saying the surgery performed on his shoulder was successful.

Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy has surgery after injury riddled season

Three from Savannah are set to be inducted into the USA Softball of Missouri Hall of Fame later this month.

Wayne Miller, Edwin Smith, and Rodney Gray, will be inducted into the USA Softball of Missouri Hall of Fame on January 24th at Canterberry Hill Winery near Jefferson City.&nbsp;&nbsp;The trio will join fellow Savannah natives Kirby Hatcherm Savannah High School Class of 1970, and Robert Newhart, Savannah High School Class of 1978, in the Hall of Fame.

The inductions honor more than four decades of fastpitch softball excellence. All three were teammates in 1982 on the Walnut Products team of St. Joseph and also represented USA South at the USA Olympic Festival in Indianapolis that same year.

Miller, a member of the Savannah High School Class of 1965, played from 1963 to 1984 for teams in Columbia, Kansas City, Savannah, St. Joseph and Springfield. A dominant pitcher and switch hitter, he earned multiple ASA All-Regional honors and competed in eight ASA National Tournaments.

Smith, Savannah High School Class of 1970, made his mark as a coach and manager from 1968 to 1986, leading teams from Savannah, St. Joseph and Jefferson City. His teams captured an ASA Midwest Regional title, appeared in three ISC World Tournaments and five ASA National Tournaments, and finished fourth nationally in 1981.

Gray,&nbsp; Savannah High School Class of 1978, a catcher and third baseman, played from 1974 to 1998. He won three Junior/Senior Boys National Championships in 1974, 1975 and 1977, along with an ASA Men’s Major National Championship in 1998. 

Gray competed in 13 ASA National Championships and 14 ISC World Tournaments, earning three ASA All-American honors and one ISC All-World Team selection. He has also been inducted into the St. Joseph Sports Hall of Fame with teammates from the Meierhoffer/Frontier Casino era.

Three from Savannah named to USA Softball of Missouri Hall of Fame

A move to two high school's next school year will cause the number of students enrolled at Benton High School to spike, meaning a rise as well in the number of athletes competing in any given sports season.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Despite that enrollment growth, the Benton Cardinals will continue to compete in the Midland Empire Conference for the next two years, according to the St. Joseph School District, making them one of the largest enrolled schools in the conference.&nbsp;&nbsp;Early estimates show that Benton will have approximately 1,070 students next year and MSHSAA uses 9th-11th grade enrollment for classification.

The MEC includes Benton, Cameron, Chillicothe, Lafayette, Maryville, and Savannah.&nbsp; Excelsior Springs is joining in 2026-2027.&nbsp; Lafayette is becoming a middle school and will not be in the conference at the high school level.&nbsp; Benton is set to compete in the conference in 2026-27 and 2027-28, but in April, the MEC superintendents will hold a vote on keeping Benton in the conference following the 2027-28 school year.

School district officials said during Monday's board meeting that the Cardinals would continue competing in the MEC, but&nbsp;Director of Student Services Shannon Nolte did acknowledge that Benton could explore a move into the Suburban Conference in the future, the conference Central currently competes in as part of the Red Division.&nbsp;

Benton has competed in the Midland Empire Conference since 1962.&nbsp;

Benton to continue competing in Midland Empire Conference for now

It's difficult to make an NFL roster off a rookie minicamp invite or as an undrafted free agent, but expectations were high for Carson Steele with the Kansas City Chiefs.

&nbsp;Steele played in all 17 games for the Chiefs in the 2024 season, rushing for 183 yards and 26 receiving yards during the season, quickly becoming a fan favorite due to his tough running style, along with his pet alligator, Crocky-J, who also became a fan favorite among Chiefs Kingdom.&nbsp; But after a promising 2024, things changed this past season for Steele.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The former Ball State running back, who was working to transition to a fullback role with the Chiefs, spent all of 2025 as a member of the Chiefs practice squad, buried on the depth chart behind Kareem Hunt and rookie Brashard Smith, along with Elijah Mitchell out of training camp, and later a signed Dameon Pierce.

Now, Steele will look to find a place on a new team, after signing a futures contract the the Philadelphia Eagles.&nbsp; If he can learn the fullback role with the Eagles, he could be in a good position, Philadelphia has utilized the fullback position more as of late, having big plans for Ben VanSumeren in 2025, but he tore his ACL on the first play of Week one, and has been out ever since. 

Bringing in Steele to compete at fullback would be the best move for the Eagles, especially considering the running back room in Philadelphia will return all three players from this season with Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, and Will Shipley.

Gov. Mike Kehoe has detailed a comprehensive plan to surge law enforcement and emergency resources to Kansas City this summer, aiming to secure the region as it prepares to host several FIFA World Cup matches.

In his latest budget recommendation, Kehoe requested an additional $63.2 million to support the international event. The majority of these funds are expected to come from federal sources, pushing the state’s total investment in the World Cup past the $150 million mark.

The proposal includes a significant deployment of the Missouri National Guard to assist local agencies. Funding is also earmarked for the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency to provide a mix of security, traffic control, and medical services at matches and official fan events.

Kehoe framed the security surge as a necessity for the state's reputation, noting that the global spotlight offers a unique opportunity to showcase Missouri. He emphasized during his budget presentation that the state must ensure the safety of visitors and residents to successfully present Kansas City to the world.

The 34 year old&nbsp;Arenado is among the game’s most decorated active players with eight All-Star appointments, six Platinum Glove awards, five Silver Sluggers and three NL home run titles to go along with his 10 Gold Gloves, though his recent production has not lived up to that.&nbsp; This past season, injuries limited his playing time following an offseason filled with trade rumors, using that no trade clause to block a trade to the Houston Astros, going on to hit just 12 home runs with a .666 OPS in 107 games for St. Louis.

Arenado finished third in the voting for the National League’s MVP Award in 2022, when he slashed .293/.358/.533 with 30 home runs and 103 RBIs and won his 10th straight Gold Glove.&nbsp; His numbers have dipped significantly since.&nbsp; He hit just 26 home runs in 2023, and then 16 in 2024, before the injury riddled 2025 signaled the end of his time with the Cardinals.

Arenado is still owed $42 million over the next two seasons, $27 million in 2026 and $15 million in 2027, per SpoTrac.com. The final year of the contract was added on when he agreed to the trade from the Rockies to the Cardinals before the 2021 season. The Rockies are contractually obligated to pay $5 million of Arenado’s 2027 salary.

Cardinals rebuild continues trading Arenado to D-Backs

The Kansas City Royals are making a change, announcing today a shift to the outfield walls, and Kauffman Stadium will look slightly different when Opening Day of the 2026 season hits.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The left and right field walls will be moved in nine to 10 feet, starting close to the foul poles and then tapering toward center field, where 410 feet will remain the distance from home plate. The wall height is going from 10 feet to 8 1/2 feet in most places. There will be more seats available, about 150 in left field and about 80 new drink-rail seats in right.

According to a team-provided diagram, the left- and right-field corners are being pulled in nine feet, from 356 and 353 feet, respectively, to 347 and 344 feet. The previous distances of 373 in both left and right fields will be nine feet closer, at 364 feet. Left-center and right-center fields will be moved in 10 feet, from 389 feet to 379 feet.

“We’ve discussed this possibility for years, and after much work by our Research &amp; Development department, believe this will be a positive change for our baseball team,” Royals Executive Vice President and General Manager J.J. Picollo said in a news release from the team. “We wanted more consistency throughout the season, while making sure the specifics put us in the best position to succeed.”

According to the Royals, these changes will likely create more home runs, along with robbed home runs, more extra-base hits, and more exciting action on the field, also bringing fans closer to seeing it. The decision was made by Baseball Operations for competitive reasons, including to bring "The K" more in line with other Major League ballparks.

Per research from the club, the changes will take the run value of fly balls at Kauffman move from the bottom third of MLB ballparks to the middle, primarily through more extra-base hits.&nbsp; Over the last three seasons, these specific changes would have benefitted the Royals overall, even accounting for more extra-base hits by opponents.

“Making this a fairer ballpark will help with roster construction, but more importantly will allow our players to keep the same approach regardless of where we play,” Royals Vice President of Research &amp; Development/Assistant GM Dr. Daniel Mack said. “Our approach was carefully considered to account for as many factors as possible. The Baltimore Ravens have interviewed Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator and former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy for their vacant head coaching position. 

Nagy, earned the AP NFL Coach of the Year in 2018, his first season in Chicago leading the Bears to a 12-4 record and the NFC North division title, before losing in the NFC Wildcard to the Philadelphia Eagles.&nbsp; Following that season however,&nbsp; Nagy went 22-27 over the next three before being dismissed prior to the 2022 season, returning to the Chiefs in 2022 as the quarterbacks coach before taking over as offensive coordinator in 2023.

Nagy is considered a strong candidate for the Ravens head coaching job after Baltimore fired longtime coach&nbsp;John Harbaugh.&nbsp; The Ravens have also acknowledged&nbsp;interviewing Vance Joseph, Davis Webb, Klint Kubiak, and Kevin Stefanski for the job as well.

The Kansas City Chiefs aren't giving up Arrowhead Stadium just yet with in impending move into Kansas coming in 2031.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In the latest episode of the Chiefs' YouTube series, "The Franchise," the story told focused on the team's future plans, including moving into a new stadium in Kansas City, Kansas in Wyandotte County. Despite some fans feeling sorrow over leaving Arrowhead Stadium, the Chiefs presented the move as a positive development for fans. 

Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt expressed his appreciation for Arrowhead Stadium and emphasized that the team will cherish every season there before the move and will celebrate Arrowhead Stadium for its special memories. 

The episode mostly glossed over the team's final three losses and highlighted the excitement surrounding the upcoming transition to a new stadium.

Chiefs to celebrate Arrowhead before moving across state line

Kansas City Chiefs' center Creed Humphrey was named to the 2025 First Team All-Pro squad.

It's the second consecutive year that Humphrey has received the honor, solidifying the fifth year pro as one of the best offensive lineman in the league and the best overall center.. Despite the Chiefs' struggles on offense, Humphrey made all 17 starts in the season, allowing just one sack and committing just two penalties in nearly 1,100 snaps.

No other Chiefs player was named to the All Pro squad after a disappointing season in which Kansas City missed the playoffs and had their first losing season since 2012.&nbsp; Former Chiefs left guard Joe Thuney, now with the Chicago Bears who are bound for the NFC Divisional round against the Los Angeles Rams, also earned a spot on the first team.

Chiefs center Creed Humphrey named First Team All Pro once again

The Kansas City Current have extended goalkeeper Clare Gagne's contract for one year, keeping her with the team through the 2026 season. 

Gagne, a young talent who joined the team from the collegiate ranks from the University of North Carolina where in 2024 she won a national championship, has shown dedication and resilience in her recovery from a head injury. 

Despite not playing in the NWSL during her rookie season, Gagne provided depth for the team's goalkeeping unit, which achieved impressive records in the 2025 season.&nbsp; Gagne expressed excitement about continuing to grow and compete in Kansas City, highlighting the supportive environment and talented teammates.

“I’m incredibly excited to be staying in Kansas City for another year,” said Gagne in a news release from the team. “This is a special environment to grow in, and I’m grateful every day for the opportunity to train and compete alongside such talented players and the most wonderful people. The support I’ve felt throughout my return-to-play journey has meant everything to me, and I’m proud to continue representing this club and community.”

KC Current reserve goalkeeper Clare Gagne resigns with team through 2026

Missouri Western State University will officially introduce alcohol sales at all Griffon basketball games starting Jan. 10, 2026. 

The new policy follows a late-2025 decision by the university’s Board of Governors to approve the transition, aiming for a 2026 launch that prioritizes safety and fan experience.

MoWest Athletics is partnering with Aramark, the university's current dining service provider, to facilitate the sale of beer and wine inside the MWSU Fieldhouse at the Looney Complex. While the program is currently limited to basketball, university officials noted they will continue to evaluate the initiative for potential expansion to other sports and venues in the future.

Athletic Director Andy Carter noted that the shift aligns Missouri Western with broader trends in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) and college sports nationwide. Carter emphasized that the university worked closely with leadership to develop a responsible plan intended to enhance the atmosphere for spectators.

To maintain a safe environment, sales will be conducted from a designated area on the east end of the Fieldhouse. Service is scheduled to begin at the tip-off of the women’s game and will conclude when 10 minutes remain in the men’s game. All concession staff have been trained to follow local and state regulations strictly.

Under the new guidelines, fans 21 and older may consume beer and wine in both the home and visitor seating areas, provided they present a valid government ID. For safety purposes, all alcoholic beverages must be served in plastic containers.

Negotiations are no longer happening between the Kansas City Royals and Clay County for a new stadium as the Royals pursue a move out of Jackson County at the end of their lease at Kauffman Stadium.

Clay County Commissioner Jason Withington announced that he is no longer negotiating with the Royals for a new stadium in the county, saying in a social media post that the "sense of joy has been drained&nbsp; out of him" over a lack of progress, also expressing frustration with the business of baseball and called negotiations with the team a closed chapter.

 Withington stated that the county will now focus on other priorities, such as upgrading the existing county jail or building a new one. 

The Royals' lease at Kauffman Stadium in Jackson County expires in January 2031, and while the Chiefs have announced plans to move to a new stadium site in Wyandotte County on the Kansas siide in 2031, the Royals have not revealed their next steps for a new ballpark. 

There has been word on a potential stadium site in Overland Park that has emerged, but some residents are not in favor of the idea.

Clay County done negotiating with Royals for new stadium

The Kansas City Chiefs are aware of&nbsp; allegations of domestic violence against wide receiver Rashee Rice made by his ex-girlfriend on social media. 

"The club is aware of the allegations on social media and is in communication with the National Football League," the Chiefs said in a statement. "We have no further comment at this time."

The team is aware of the accusations and is in communication with the NFL office.&nbsp; Rice, who recently completed his third season in the NFL,&nbsp; also has not addressed the allegations publicly after&nbsp;Dacoda Nichole Jones, Rice's ex-girlfriend&nbsp; posted on her Instagram account Wednesday afternoon photos that show bruises and wounds on multiple parts of her body, alleging abuse for numerous years. 

Jones does not name Rice or anyone else in the post, but she says that the person who abused her is the father of her children. Rice has two children with Jones.&nbsp; The Chiefs also did not specify that the allegations involve Rice.&nbsp;&nbsp;As of Wednesday night, Jones has yet to file a police report of domestic violence in Overland Park, Kansas, or in Dallas, the two places mentioned in her post where she says abuse occurred.

Rice previously served a six suspension for his involvement in a fatal car crash in 2024 and received a five year probation and 30 days jail time as part of the legal consequences. Despite these off-field issues, Rice has been a key contributor to the Chiefs' offense, particularly in his rookie season when he helped the team win a Super Bowl.

The Missouri Western State University women picked up their MIAA conference win with a 75-67 victory over Washburn at the Looney Complex.

The Griffons, who have now won eight of their last nine games against Washburn since 2022, got down 28-23 late in the first quarter, but responded with a strong defensive effort in the second quarter, MoWest outscoring Washburn 18-10 in the frame and holding the Ichabods to just 2-of-10 shooting, taking a 44-38 lead by the halftime braeak.

The second half was all MoWest as the women never falterd, leading by as many as 15 points with&nbsp; 6:02 remaining in the third quarter. Washburn did get the deficit to within nine points twice after that, but never got closer.&nbsp; The Ichabods were just 10-of-35 from the field over the last three quarters combined, and just 1-of-8 from three-point range in that time as well.

It was also a defensive showcase as the Griffons forced 26 turnovers, scoring 21 points off of them, with MoWest recording a season best 17 steals in the matchup. Washburn was limited to 20-of-54 shooting, going just 5-of-15 from beyond the arc.

Ana Oliveira Dias and Nakiya Harris led MoWest with 16 points each. Dias also recording eight steals and eight assists.&nbsp; Mia Morel chipped in 12 points, while Lindsey Kelderman and LaNicia Parker each had 10 points in the effort to round out the double digit scoring.

The MoWest men meanwhile fell to the nation's top-ranked team in the undefeated Ichabods 87-75 at the Looney Complex.

Washburn came out firing in the opening half, shooting 65.5% from the field and 44.4% from three-point range, pouring in 48 points before the break as the Griffons had difficulty establishing an offensive flow, managing just 25.0% shooting through the first 20 minutes, and the Ichabods took a 48–29 advantage into the halftime break.

The second was a different story for MoWest however, as the Griffons found a better rhythm offensively, trimming the deficit to 53–39 with 15:54 remaining, but Washburn's advantage proved too large to overcome despite the Griffons outscoring the Ichabods 46–39 after the break.&nbsp; MoWest finished the game shooting 38.7% from the field and the Griffons connected on 21.4% from beyond the arc.

Noah King led the Griffons with 14 points. Bode Goodman and Devin Butler each followed with 12 points, while&nbsp;William Kiburis chipped in 11 points to round out the double digit efforts.

MoWest continues their four game homestand on Saturday, hosting Central Missouri.&nbsp; The women tipoff at 1:30, while the men tipoff at 3:30pm following.&nbsp; It will also be&nbsp; Griffon Basketball Alumni Night, with several former Griffons in attendance.

MoWest women earn first conference win, men fall short against Washburn

The Northwest Missouri State women haven't had the start to the new year they had hoped for after another loss on Wednesday evening to begin a four game homestand.

The Bearcat women saw their losing streak move to three games, falling to UCM 66-61 as the Jennies came from behind in the fourth quarter to steal the win.&nbsp; Even in a loss it was a bounce back from a poor performance Saturday against Nebraska Kearney, where Northwest shot 36% and were outrebounded 41-32. 

Sophomore forward Sadie Maas says it's important to not let things snowball

"This isn't the same team as last year, and we're so much more capable when it comes to just bouncing back when we get hit," Maas tells reporters following the game.&nbsp; "So I think just sticking together as a team and having everybody on the same page and just continuing to do that is going to be really key."

Head Coach Austin Meyer says with more tough MIAA opponents ahead, the team needs to take lessons from this game knowing another good team is around the corner

"There were some things we did, gave them some open threes that we didn't need to, and there's plenty of little things that despite everything else we still could have won the game," Meyer says.

The Bearcats have a tough slate ahead as they face Washburn on Saturday, before hosting and facing for the second time in two weeks Nebraska Kearney and #6 Fort Hays State.

The game also marked a return to the area once again for a former Riverside Cyclone, forward Taylor Weishaar, who also had the opportunity to battle her old AAU teammate, Northwest forward Maggie Collins

Now a sophomore for the Jennies, Weishaar says that first year in the college system obviously gave her a year of experience, but also even more

"It helped me become more comfortable, more confident, and since we have six freshman just stepping into that leadership role where I can," Weishaar says.

The Jennies, led by former Missouri Western State University head coach Dave Slifer, won their first game in Maryville in the last three tries, coming from behind in the fourth quarter. 

Now, Slifer will return to his old stomping grounds on Saturday, as UCM travels to St. Joseph to take on the Griffons. The ties go deep Slifer says

"I've got Olivia Nelson on staff who played for us for four years, so looking forward to seeing her," Slifer says.&nbsp; "And they have played a big time schedule, and they may not have the most robust record right now, but I did see they were ahead of Washburn right now, so they are battle tested so they can play a little bit."

MoWest did go on to beat Washburn for their first conference win.  Nelson is an assistant coach for new Griffons head coach Luke Scheidecker.

For Northwest in the loss, Central alum Ella Moody scored 13 points for the team lead.&nbsp; Andrea Lopreato added 12 points to round out the double digit scoring.&nbsp; Bailey Birmingham converted three beyond the arc for a total of nine points.

The Northwest men also narrowly fell to Central Missouri in Bearcat Arena, falling 76-72.&nbsp; The Mules improved to 13-4 overall, 4-1 in MIAA play, while Northwest moved to 9-7 overall, 2-3 MIAA.

Despite a balanced offense with four players scoring in double digits, Northwest could not hold off the Mules, who outscored them by 14 points in the second half.&nbsp; Royce Williams secured an early lead for Northwest with a three pointer nearly one minute into the game and the Bearcats maintained a narrow edge through effective scoring in the paint through the first half.

UCM kept the contest tight, matching Northwest in both field goals and three-pointers, resulting in multiple lead changes and ties throughout the half. However, Northwest regained control in the final minutes, with Mikhail Abdul-Hamid securing a layup at 00:27, ending the half ahead 35–31.&nbsp; Out of the half, the Bearcats initially extended their lead with an early three-pointer from Williams, but the Mules responded with a series of successful offensive plays eventually evening up the score.

The Bearcats briefly recaptured the lead with a three-pointer by Presley Ibeh, but Central Missouri quickly tied the game again, then as the half progressed, Northwest struggled to maintain its lead. Trey Moala did convert a layup at 8:54 after a critical steal by Aiden Gair, giving the Bearcats a narrow 58–57 advantage. However, Central Missouri capitalized on a late turnover and foul, securing the win with a final free throw at 0:10.&nbsp;

Williams led the team with 18 points. Moala contributed 11 points, while Abdul-Hamid chipped in 12 points.&nbsp;Larenz Walters rounded out the double digit scoring with 10 points.

The Northwest men and women will next play Washburn on Saturday in Maryville.&nbsp; The women tipoff at 1:30pm, the men will follow at 3:30pm in Bearcat Arena.&nbsp;

Northwest women fall as Jennies rally back, Bearcat men narrowly lose as well

The Kansas City Royals have signed utility player Josh Rojas to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training. 

Rojas, a seven-year MLB veteran, struggled with the White Sox last season, batting .180 with two home runs in 69 games, but has shown potential in the past.&nbsp; Originally drafted by the Houston Astros, Rojas was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2019, and had his best season in 2022 with the Diamondbacks, hitting .269 with nine home runs.

The left-handed hitter has experience playing multiple positions and could provide depth for the Royals, likely to be used mostly though at second base. Rojas will compete for a reserve infield role on the team, his signing could indicate the Royals will not be bringing back utility player&nbsp;Adam Frazier.

Royals sign utilty player Josh Rojas to minor league contract

The Kansas City Current have named their new man in charge as&nbsp;Vlatko Andonovski transitions from being the teams head coach to the role of sporting director.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In a big announcement, the Current are hiring Chris Armas, a National Soccer Hall of Fame inductee and decorated Major League Soccer player, as the newest head coach of the women’s soccer club.&nbsp; &nbsp;Armas was most recently the head coach of the Colorado Rapids.

Armas began his coaching career in 2008 in Chicago, as an assistant with the Fire, before spending four years as the head women’s soccer coach at Adelphi University, his alma mater, from 2011 to 2014.&nbsp; He returned to the MLS in 2015 as an assistant with the New York Red Bulls, holding that role until 2018, when he moved into the head coaching job, until 2020.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In 2019, under Armas, the Red Bulls finished sixth in the Eastern Conference and were eliminated by the Philadelphia Union in the first round of the playoffs. The Red Bulls were then eliminated in the group stage of the MLS is Back Tournament after they were defeated by FC Cincinnati. Armas parted ways with the club on September 4, 2020, one day after a 1–0 loss to D.C. United.

In 2021, Armas was hired as the head coach of Toronto FC, but was fired midway through the season following the largest loss in the club's history and a league record of one win, eight losses and two draws.&nbsp; He went on to serve as an assistant overseas with Manchester United the the remainder of the year and into 2022, and then with Leeds United in 2023.&nbsp; He was also named the Co-interim coach of Leed United that year, helping&nbsp; oversee a 2–2 draw at Old Trafford with Manchester United.&nbsp;

Armas has since been with the Rapids back in the MLS during the 2024 and 2025 seasons.&nbsp; As the man in charge in Colorado, Armas helped lead&nbsp; the Rapids to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs in 2024, and earned the team a third-place finish in the 2025 Leagues Cup, as well as back-to-back Rocky Mountain Cup titles.

Armas also has success as a player, regarded as one of the best midfielders in Major League Soccer according to the Current.&nbsp; Armas&nbsp;is one of only five players in MLS history to have been named to the MLS Best XI five times and be a six-time MLS All-Star. Additionally, in 2003, Armas was named the MLS Comeback Player of the Year after recovering from an injury that ended his season in 2002. In that same year, he was named Chicago Fire FC’s MVP.

As the Missouri legislative session begins today at noon, a Republican senator has introduced bills aimed at the Kansas City Chiefs and their impending move to Kansas.

Senator Nick Schroer has introduced three bills targeting the Chiefs after the team announced plans to build a new stadium in Kansas, as well as a new practice facility and a new team headquarters based in Olathe.&nbsp; If lawmakers feel snubbed, after approving a package during a special session in June, the three bills could make it to the floor during the session.

One bill would impose a $50 surcharge on each ticket sold for events hosted by the Chiefs and a 5 % surcharge on sales made within the sports facility during those events.&nbsp; Another would make any lessee of a public facility with a capacity of 60,000 or more liable for the reasonable costs of demolishing the existing facility if it is not left in a condition that is usable for another purpose when the lease ends.

The final bill being introduced from Schroer would deny any professional sports team playing in a facility with a capacity of at least 75,000 people the ability to receive tax credits.&nbsp; It is not known if all three bills will be heard, or debated, during the legislative session.

Despite efforts to keep the team in Missouri, the Chiefs confirmed their move to Kansas City, Kansas for a $3 billion state-of-the-art facility by 2031.&nbsp; The proposed legislation could impact the Chiefs' plans for a new stadium and mixed-use entertainment district.

Benedictine's Rashad Beckham is the winner of the Rimington Award for the NAIA level, one of four given out to the top centers, all this year to first time selections.&nbsp;

Beckman, a senior from Oceanside, Calif., was also named an All-American by the Victory Sports Network and the AFCA in 2025. He was a four-year starter for the Ravens and started 50 games in his career at center, never missing a game. 

Beckham anchored an offensive line that allowed just four sacks all season with a 476.6 yards per game average. He is the fourth Rimington Award winner for Benedictine College.

Other division winners were Trent Fraley of North Dakota State for the FCS, Slade Edwards of Central Washington for NCAA DII and Caleb Bayer of Trinity University (Texas) for NCAA DIII.&nbsp;Other NAIA finalists this year for the award were Ryan Saddler of Grand View University, Blake Perry of Keiser University, Chris Foster of McPherson College and Joel Akers of Dordt University.
