Early practices in Chiefs training camp on the Missouri Western campus have been key for one rookie running back, transitioning to a new sport.  

Louis Rees-Zammit is a former union rugby player from Wales that has long dreamed of playing in the NFL and is getting his chance with the Chiefs.  

Rees-Zammit says a key for him right now is getting to know the playbook. 

"Cause I'm playing catchup with a lot of people that have played American football since they were little kids, six years old, so there's no time to rest for me," Rees-Zammit tells the media following practice. "I've got to give this my all because ultimately this is my dream and to make it come true then I've got to play, I've got to be a step ahead of a lot of people." 

Rees-Zammit says the first goal to consider his rookie campaign successful is to make the team and knows a big part of that will be contributing on special teams. 

"Been working really hard on that with Coach (Dave) Toub and Coach (Andy) Hill, and just learning the playbook as I said," Rees-Zammit says. "Learning the running back roles, being able to learn pass protection, and then learning my routes off that, I think all of that adds up and the main way I'm going to make this team is by learning pass protection and being able to be a key role on special teams."

Entering a packed tight end room, the Chiefs fourth round pick has one goal in mind during his first Chiefs Training Camp. 

Jared Wiley from TCU says his biggest goal this training camp is just to prove he can contribute 

"I know what's in our room, we've got me, Irv (Smith Jr.), Noah (Gray), Gerrit (Prince), obviously Trav, we have a really talented group," Wiley explains. "So if I can find a way to come in and contribute as much as I possibly can, whether it's on special teams, anything they want me to do on offense, that'd be my biggest goal just to prove that i belong in that room and to be able to be on the field with those guys." 

One more practice will be held for rookies and quarterbacks tomorrow.  The full team reports to St. Joseph tomorrow evening, before the first full practice open to the public on Sunday where there will be a $5 admission fee.

One Chiefs rookie is not just new to the team, but new to the sport

Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks and rookies hit the Mosaic practice fields at Missouri Western State University for the first training camp practice today. 

Chiefs first round pick Xavier Worthy showed off his athleticism in the practice after missing much of the spring due to a hamstring injury.  

Worthy says though with the play calling and route running he felt pretty good on day one.  

"As my time off and even when I was off in OTA's, I took the time to really learn the playbook," Worthy tells the media following practice. "So asked the questions I need to ask and relied on Coach (Matt) Nagy, and I feel like that really helped me."

Another rookie in his first camp is second round pick offensive lineman Kingsley Suamataia who will compete with Wanya Morris for a starting job this camp.  

Suamataia says despite that competition looming, he has a good relationship with Morris.  

"I've known Wanya as a player, he's a great guy and he's friends with a lot of guys I know, we're boys on and off the field just trying to gain that job," Suamataia says. "We're both just working hard the best that we can and whoever comes out on top, you know still boys, but it's business out here." 

Rookie safety Jaden Hicks has been utilized all over the defense by defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo 

Hicks says Spagnuolo matches well with his skillset being able to utilize that versatility.  

"He likes me to do whatever on the field, whether that's cover, playing zone, man, in the box, so it's very versatile," Hicks explains. 

Two more practices will be held for the quarterbacks and rookies before the first full team practice on Sunday.  Players take the field again tomorrow at 9:15.

Chiefs rookies and quarterbacks hit the field for first practice of Training Camp

Chiefs Training Camp is now open with quarterbacks and rookies
reporting to Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes says the Chiefs need to stay
hungry even though they are coming off back-to-back Super Bowl victories.

“We’re back in St. Joe, it’s time to get better,” Mahomes tells
reporters as training camp officials gets underway. “Every season starts
different. You’ve got to come in with the same mentality you had the year
before, even a higher intensity. Even though we won the Super Bowl last year,
we feel like we didn’t play our best football, especially offensively. It’s our
goal to be better that way and we have to come with that mentality every single
day.”

Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid says training camp prepares the
team for a grueling season by sharpening their mental and physical abilities.

“If you’re fatigued then you’re going to be fatigued mentally.
If you’re fatigued physically that’s going to affect you mentally. And if you’re
fatigued period, then you can’t think and you can’t play, at least not to the best
of your ability,” Reid says during the news conference. “So, the objective here
is let’s get ourselves in shape, make sure we’re in football shape. They’re all
going to come back in shape, but let’s get ourselves in football shape.”

Mahomes says it’s important for the team to sequester itself
on the Missouri Western campus and focus on football.

“Being in the building and being at lunch together, being at
dinner together, always kind of being around the guys, you build this kind of
culture and this family-type brotherhood,” according to Mahomes. “I’m excited
to continue to do that with a lot of new faces and then with guys that have
been here before, because we know this is what it takes in order for us to go
out there and be great.”

Not all the team is in St. Joseph. This week, only the quarterbacks
and rookies attend practice. Practices this week are closed to the public. The
full team reports Sunday.

Reid values this time to bring the team together and prepare
for a tough football season.

“Listen, we look forward to being back here. We love the set
up here. The people here treat us great at Missouri Western State University; beautiful
facilities,” Reid tells reports standing outside Scanlon Hall, which will be
their home for the next few weeks. “It’s great to be able to get away from the
city and be able to house guys in the same dorm. I’m saying this as a coach and
they probably aren’t going to say this, but it builds a certain camaraderie.”

Chiefs Training Camp begins for the full team Sunday morning
with a 9:15am start at MWSU. There is a $5 admission fee for the practice on
Sunday, the first open to the public.

The Chiefs return to St. Joseph, seeking a 3rd straight Super Bowl

Mosaic Life Care is once again ready to offer medical services to coaches, players, staff, and visitors to Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp on the Missouri Western State University campus in Saint Joseph.

Trauma and Stroke Services program manager and lead medical contact for training camp, Jonathan Eivins, says there are two triage tents this year, along with cooling stations and a medical building on site.

"We're going to have our staff roving in certain areas and keeping track of everybody and watching out for any kind of conditions that can arise, such as lacerations or heat exhaustion," Eivins said.

With summer temperatures soaring recently, Eivins advises visitors to dress appropriately, wear bright colors to reflect sunlight, and stay hydrated.&nbsp;

Eivins also noted there is equipment available to assist with any potential life-threatening conditions.&nbsp;

Mosaic Life Care is positioned to tend to as many people as possible during training camp. Eivins says in a 2 1/2 hour period, staff can attend to as many as twenty-five to thirty people.

Medical staff will be dressed in electric blue outfits this year, and Eivins encourages attendees to flag down staff if they notice anyone needing help.&nbsp;

Two ambulances will be on sight in the case of life-threatening emergencies.

In front of a packed house, the St. Joseph Mustangs put on a thriller scoring a comeback win over the Warren County Crop Dusters and scoring a 5-4 win.&nbsp;

The Mustangs fell behind early in the second inning, the Crop Dusters Tyler Meyer scoring on a fielding error.&nbsp; Warren County would extend the lead in the sixth inning with two more runs.

Trailing 3-0 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Mustangs would tie up the game at three a piece, Jordan Black scoring on a single from Ike Book, Jackson Glueck scoring on a sacrifice fly, and Darius Freeman coming across on a wild pitch

St. Joseph would take the lead the very next inning, another wild pitch scoring Mason Holton, and after Frank Gall advanced to third on that wild pitch he would later score on a double from Glueck.&nbsp;

The Crop Dusters would score one more unearned run off of Jase Johnson before&nbsp;Archer Ogbourne would strike out to end the game

Freeman led the way hitting going 2 for 5 with one run scored.&nbsp;&nbsp;Trenton Roehler and&nbsp;Michael Infranca pitched three scoreless innings combined from the bullpen.

The Mustangs are now 33-6 on the season with just five games remaining before the playoffs.&nbsp; They will have on off day on Sunday before traveling to Warren County on Monday.

Mustangs score comeback win over Crop Dusters on Taylor Swift night

The Kansas City Royals offense struggled to make any solid contact off Red Sox starting pitcher Kutter Crawford, falling 5-0 in the penultimate game of the first half of the MLB season.&nbsp;

The Red Sox scored all five runs through five innings and held the Royals to just four hits in the shutout, Crawford striking out four, walking one, and giving up two of the hits.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Royals starter Seth Lugo struggled through five innings, giving up 10 hits and all five runs, however he did strike out six batters.&nbsp; Despite the rough start, Lugo still has a strong case to start the All Star game on Tuesday, his record at 11-4 with a 2.48 ERA.&nbsp;

If Lugo does earn the starting nod on Tuesday, he would be the first Royal to start a Midsummer Classic since Bret Saberhagen in 1987.

The Royals and Red Sox will wrap up their series on Sunday before heading into the All Star Break.&nbsp; Brady Singer is scheduled to start against Brayan Bello.&nbsp; First pitch is at 12:35pm with pregame at noon on KFEQ.

Royals add reliever Hunter Harvey in trade with Nationals

Kansas City acquired right handed relief pitcher Hunter Harvey Saturday in a trade that sent third base prospect Cayden Wallace and their Competive Balance A pick, No. 39 overall, to the Washington Nationals. 4

Harvey this season has recorded a 4.29 ERA in 43 appearances for the Nationals. Last season, he had a 2.82 ERA and recorded 10 saves and 19 holds.&nbsp; Since 2022, Harvey has a&nbsp;27.8% strikeout rate and a 6.4% walk rate.

The Royals have been searching for a power arm and more strike-throwing in the bullpen, which ranks 21st in baseball with a 4.26 ERA.&nbsp; Harvey, with his 98 mph fastball, fits the profile

Harvey’s also not a free agent until 2026, giving the Royals a full season of control following this year. That was something the Royals were adamant about acquiring, especially if they had to give up top prospects

Wallace, 22, was the Royals’ second-round pick in 2022 out of Arkansas and has been in Double-A Northwest Arkansas this year, although he has missed a good chunk of the season, first with an oblique strain and now a rib fracture, which he suffered while on a rehab assignment for his oblique. He has a career .265/.342/.420 slash line in the Minors with 18 home runs over the last three seasons.

Royals suffer 5-0 shutout loss to Red Sox in penultimate game of first half

Kansas City Chiefs training camp in St. Joseph is drawing ever closer.

 Staff and equipment have started arriving from One Arrowhead Drive to the Missouri Western campus. Missouri Western athletic director Andy Carter says the Chiefs’ arrival is always a highly anticipated moment each summer - a moment that takes weeks of preparation and many people’s assistance.

"It takes a lot of preparation for our campus and community to get them here and treat them in the way they've grown to expect from us at a high level," Carter said on KFEQ Radio's The Hotline. "It's about a three-week buildup of products and equipment and people arriving, and then in 24 hours, poof! They're gone on the end of it."

This year will mark the 14th season of training camp at Missouri Western.

Chiefs quarterbacks and rookies will report and begin practice on July 16, with the first full practice open to the public on July 21. There’ll be 19 team practices in all with camp wrapping up on August 15.

Carter says the Chiefs appreciate coming to St. Joseph, not only because of proximity, but also because of how the community embraces camp each year.

"Close enough that if they have to go back for something, it's not a big deal," Carter said. "Even their admin people and executives can run up for a day and go back. But, I think it's also the commitment by the community and University leadership that this is important."

Talk of the Chiefs leaving Missouri has ramped up this year with Kansas trying to lure the team across the river.

Voters in Jackson County, Missouri this past April voted down a sales tax renewal that would have funded Arrowhead Stadium renovations and a new Royals ballpark in downtown Kansas City.

Carter says he doesn't know what will happen if the Chiefs leave the Show-Me State, but says there's been talks with the Chiefs about signing a multi-year agreement to keep training camp in St. Joseph for at least a few more years.

"What I can speak to is, they still need a place to train," Carter said of the Chiefs' future. "We've had some conversations about a three or five year agreement that keeps them here when they figure that part out. That's 100% their decision on where they're going to go."

Kansas governor Laura Kelly signed legislation in June that will help both professional sports teams pay for new stadiums if they move to Kansas.

 The Chiefs' and Royals' current lease at the Truman Sports Complex runs through 2031.

Regardless of what happens next with the stadiums, Carter says the pageantry and anticipation of training camp is very real and exciting, considering what the players go through.

"This is part of their job," Carter said. "They're going to work and some of them are here to fine tune themselves for the season. Some are here, trying to make the club. There's high stakes over the weeks that they're here."

Staff and equipment have started arriving from One Arrowhead Drive to the Missouri Western campus. Missouri Western athletic director Andy Carter says the Chiefs’ arrival is always a highly anticipated moment each summer - a moment that takes weeks of preparation and many people’s assistance."It takes a lot of preparation for our campus and community to get them here and treat them in the way they've grown to expect from us at a high level," Carter said on KFEQ Radio's The Hotline. "It's about a three-week buildup of products and equipment and people arriving, and then in 24 hours, poof! They're gone on the end of it."This year will mark the 14th season of training camp at Missouri Western.Chiefs quarterbacks and rookies will report and begin practice on July 16, with the first full practice open to the public on July 21. MWSU ready to roll out red carpet as Chiefs get on campus next week

After being delayed a day thanks to the remnants of Hurricane Beryl, the Kansas City Royals swept the Cardinals in the first half of the I-70 Series, coming from behind for a 6-4 win in game one and winning game two 8-5.

The Cardinals did take an early 3-0 lead in game one of the series, thanks to home runs from Nolan Arenado and Alec Burleson, but the Royals would score three in the fifth inning to tie the game up.&nbsp; The very next inning, Salvador Perez would hit a home run to give Kansas City the 4-3 lead.&nbsp;

Two more runs would score for the Royals in the eighth inning, Maikel Garcia scoring on a sacrifice fly and Bobby Witt Jr coming across on a single from Perez.

The Cardinals Paul Goldschmidt homered off of closer James McArthur in the ninth to narrow the gap, but McArthur would earn his 16th save of the season.&nbsp; Alec Marsh would earn the win, pitching six innings and striking out eight batters, giving up three runs.&nbsp;

St. Louis would again take an early lead in game two thanks to a solo home run from Lars Nootbaar&nbsp; in the second inning, but MJ Melendez would hit his 10th home run of the season tying the game up in the third inning.

Perez would again be the one to give the Royals a lead in the fourth inning, a sacrifice fly scoring Bobby Witt Jr.&nbsp; Hunter Renfroe would add another run driving in Pasquantino with a single. But the Cardinals would narrow the lead in the bottom half, a Nolan Gorman ground rule double would push in Nootbaar.&nbsp;

Adam Frazier would again extend the lead in the fifth inning, driving in Kyle Isbel with a single, however Frazier would end up at third base on the play.&nbsp; As left fielder Brendan Donovan attempted to throw out Isbel at home, Frazier would advance to second, then with no one covering third base would proceed to take that base as well.&nbsp; Frazier later scored on a sacrifice fly from Witt Jr.

St. Louis would again narrow the lead to one run in the bottom of the fifth inning, a double from Burleson scoring Willson Contreras.&nbsp; After Burleson ended up at third thanks to a throwing error from Witt Jr, he would score on a single from Goldschmidt.

In the sixth inning, Perez would hit his second home run of the day to extend the lead again, and then in the seventh the Royals would push ahead by two runs on a single from Pasquantino that scored Isbel, Kansas City holding a 7-5 lead.&nbsp;

It was the second time in Perez’s career that he homered in both games of a doubleheader, a feat that’s been done 18 times by 13 different Royals.

Contreras would drive in a run on a ground out in the bottom of the seventh for the Cardinals final run.&nbsp; Isbel would put the final nail in the coffin in the ninth, hitting a solo home run to right field.&nbsp; McArthur would again close the game, earning his second save of the night and 17th of the season.&nbsp;

Michael Wacha, pitching against the team that drafted him in 2012, earned the win for his sixth of the season, striking out three and giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits over five innings.&nbsp;

The series win was the first on the road for the Royals since they took two of three from the Tampa Bay Rays near the end of May.

Kansas City will have an off day on Thursday, with the final series of the first half starting on Friday in Boston against the Red Sox.&nbsp; Cole Ragans is scheduled to start the first game, the starter for Boston has yet to be announced.&nbsp; First pitch at 6:10pm with pregame at 5:30 on KFEQ.

Royals sweep Cardinals in I-70 Series doubleheader

Kansas City Royals’ catcher Salvador Perez, shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. and starting pitchers Seth Lugo and Cole Ragans were all named to the American League All-Star roster announced Sunday afternoon on MLB Network.

It’s the first time since 2016 that the Royals have four All-Star representatives, and Ragans and Lugo are the first Royals pitchers to be named to an All-Star Game since Jason Vargas in 2017.

This is also the first time in franchise history that the Royals have two All-Star starting pitchers in the same season.

Salvy will be playing in his ninth career All-Star Game. He notched his 1,500th career hit Sunday against the Rockies after hitting his 250th career homer earlier this season. Salvy and George Brett, who was a 13-time All-Star, are the only two players in Royals history to reach both of those milestones.

This year's Midsummer Classic is Tuesday, July 16 at 7 p.m. The game will be played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

The Kansas City Royals offense was hot and snapped a five game losing streak on the road Sunday afternoon, defeating the Colorado Rockies 10-1 in Denver.

After a scoreless first inning, the Royals would hang a four spot in the second inning, the biggest hit coming from the bat of Maikel Garcia in the form of a three run home run to left center field.&nbsp; It was Garcia's first home run since May 17th.

From there the game went scoreless until the final three innings.&nbsp; Royals starter Brady Singer again looked sharp on the mound, throwing seven innings and striking out seven, giving up just one run on six hits.&nbsp; Singer has now given up just four runs over his last four starts, throwing a combined 24.1 innings in that stretch.&nbsp;

MJ Melendez would add to the scoring in the seventh inning for Kansas City, a solo home run to right field that just barely cleared the large wall at 385 feet.&nbsp; The Rockies would score their lone run in the bottom half, Nolan Jones singling to score Jake Cave.&nbsp;

After scoring two more runs in the eighth inning, a three run homer from All Star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr capped the scoring. Witt Jr led all hitters on the day going 3 for 5 with 3 RBI's.&nbsp;

Four Royals were named to the American League roster for the 2024 All Star Game in Arlington, Texas.&nbsp; Three for the very first time.

Starting pitchers Seth Lugo and Cole Ragans along with shortstop Bobby Witt Jr were named to the All Star Game for the first times in their career.&nbsp; Catcher Salvador Perez is heading to the All Star Game for a ninth time.

Witt and Perez were finalists to be starters for the American League but lost the fan vote to Orioles duo Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutschman, respectively, so they were expected to be on the AL roster and were voted in by their peers on the player ballot.

Lugo, too, was virtually a lock to be an All-Star, earning his first trip in his ninth Major League season. In just his second season as a full-time starter, following years of pitching in relief for the Mets, Lugo leads the American League with a 2.21 ERA and 11 wins this year across 19 starts. He ranks first in innings (122) in baseball and has dominated hitters nearly every time he steps on the mound, logging a quality start in all but four starts this season.

Ragans was the one player who wasn’t completely expecting the selection, evidenced by the fact that he’ll have his wife bring his suit to Boston next weekend before they head to Texas. But the 26-year-old lefty whom the Royals acquired from the Rangers last year is just as deserving, with his 3.28 ERA that ranks 19th in baseball and 134 strikeouts that ranks third.

Royals clobber Rockies 10-1 to avoid sweep, four Royals named to All Star Game

The Royals would take the lead back in the fourth though, Garrett Hampson driving in Freddy Fermin on a fielders choice out.&nbsp; The Rockies would tie it up again in sixth with Brendan Rodgers scoring on a single from Elias Diaz.&nbsp;

Ragans was pushed to the limit in the start, pitching seven innings and throwing 106 pitches, striking out five and walking one giving up the two runs.&nbsp; John Schreiber would come on in relief in the eighth inning.&nbsp;

The eighth is where disaster struck, the Rockies getting to the Royals bullpen which has struggled much of the season. With the bases loaded against Schreiber, after a walk to Diaz, Brendan Doyle would hit a ground rule double scoring two and putting the Rockies ahead for good.&nbsp;

Kansas City did make some noise in the ninth inning, with Fermin and Nick Loftin leading the inning off with back to back singles, but nothing would come of it as the game ended on a groundout from Maikel Garcia.&nbsp;

Royals fall to Rockies 4-2 as bullpen falls flat once again

Despite fireworks from Bobby Witt Jr on Independence Day, the Kansas City Royals could not keep up with the bats of the Tampa Bay Rays, falling 10-8 on Thursday at Kauffman Stadium.&nbsp;

The Royals fell behind 4-0 early on in the game, the biggest blow coming on a solo home run from the Rays Jonny DeLuca.&nbsp; Kansas City cut into the lead though in the bottom of the second inning, a solo home run from Michael Massey soaring 399 feet to right field.&nbsp;

Tampa would extend the lead in the third inning, DeLuca singling to score Brandon Lowe, but the Royals would again answer in the bottom half with two runs, a sacrifice fly from Witt Jr and a single from Vinnie Pasquantino driving in the runs.&nbsp;

After giving up five runs, the Royals would pull starting pitcher Alec Marsh to start the fourth inning, bringing on Carlos Hernandez, who would pitch a scoreless fourth inning, but disaster struck in the fifth.&nbsp;

Three more runs from the Rays would push the lead to 8-3, the Royals would score one run in the bottom half of the fifth, but Tampa would add another run in the sixth, a solo home run with two outs from Brandon Lowe.&nbsp;

Trailing 9-4, the Royals would have a big inning of their own in the bottom of the sixth, three runs being driven in by Hunter Renfroe, Garrett Hampson and Nick Loftin.&nbsp; But leading by just two runs the Rays would score their final run in the seventh inning.&nbsp;

Royals fall short on Independence Day against the Rays in 10-8 loss

The Kansas City Royals battled mother nature and the Tampa Bay Rays in their series opener on Tuesday at Kauffman Stadium, falling 5-1 following a two and a half hour rain delay.

Royals starter Brady Singer had given up just one run as the Rays Richie Palacios scored on a wild pitch in the second inning, but heading into the sixth crew chief&nbsp;Adrian Johnson called for the tarp to be pulled onto the field and players to leave as thunder and lightning boomed and dark clouds surrounded the stadium.&nbsp;

Not long after the storm hit, leading to a two hour, 32 minute rain delay, that lasted longer than the actual game itself.&nbsp;

The game didn't resume until 11pm and Singer did not return to the mound, with John Schreiber taking over in the sixth, surrendering a double to Palacios scoring Josh Lowe and putting the Rays up 2-0.&nbsp;

The Royals did narrow the gap in the bottom half of the inning on a home run from Bobby Witt Jr, his 13th of the season, but the Rays would score two runs in the seventh, and their final run in the ninth inning to hold the lead.&nbsp;

Singer lowered his ERA to 3.05 across his 17 starts this season but was handed his fifth loss because of one sequence in the second inning and no run support. Singer has been given just two runs or fewer of support in 13 of his 16 starts, including each of the last seven -- a stretch in which he’s 0-3 and the Royals have scored a total of five runs in his 37 2/3 innings.

The St. Joseph Mustangs lost at Clarinda Tuesday, 5-2. The Mustangs (26-5) trailed 5-0 after the fourth and scored their only two runs of the game in the top of the ninth, but fell short in their rally attempt.

Clarinda outhit St. Joseph 13-7. The Mustangs also stranded 10 baserunners. Trevor McCollum was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

The St. Joseph Mustangs broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the top of the ninth inning, defeating the Carroll Merchants 3-1 Sunday at Merchants Park in Carroll, Iowa.

With bases loaded and one out, Benton grad Carson Schmidt singled, scoring Lafayette grad Jayden Little along with Trevor McCollum.

 McCollum was 3-for-4 with a run scored in the game. Schmidt was 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.

Carson Schmdit’s brother, Tanner, got the save in the ninth, striking out one. The Mustangs are 26-4 on the season. They beat Jefferson City Saturday 5-0 after losing to Clarinda Friday, 11-3.

Mustangs eek out win at Carroll Sunday, scoring go-ahead run in the ninth

St. Joseph native and former Missouri Western golfer Brad Nurski claimed his fourth Missouri Amateur Golf Championship Sunday at St. Joseph Country Club, defeating Presten Richardson of Mount Vernon in Match Play 11 &amp; 9.

Nurski did not lose a hole in the scheduled 36-hole match.&nbsp;Nurski finished with a 66 on his first 18 holes, while Richardson carded a 72. Nurski shot a 32 on the next nine, while Richardson totaled a 38.

Nurski becomes just the sixth player in the tournament’s 117-year history to win four titles. This win is his first in the event since 2018.

Nurski has earned himself an exemption into the 2024 U.S. Amateur Golf Championship in Chaska, Minnesota, which will take place from Aug. 12-18.

After Kyle Isbel struck out to start the third inning, the Royals would score three more runs before another out was recorded, runs being driven in by Vinnie Pasquantino, Perez, and MJ Melendez.&nbsp;

Isbel would homer in the fourth inning to add one more, a Freddy Fermin sacrifice fly in the fifth inning would push the Royals lead to 7-1.&nbsp; The Guardians finally responded scoring runs in the seventh and eighth inning.&nbsp;

Kansas City would extend the lead more in the bottom half of the eighth with another three run inning.&nbsp; Maikel Garcia would score on a wild pitch before Pasquantino would hit the fourth home run of the game for the Royals, a two run blast to right field.&nbsp;
