St. Joseph Christian has announced that two new coaches have been hired in girls athletics.&nbsp;

Caitlin Thompson has been hired to coach volleyball at St. Joseph Christian for the upcoming year.&nbsp; Thompson has coached volleyball for 12 years across northwest Missouri, most recently at Union Star High School.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Also announced is the hiring of Kerstyn Banks as the head coach for girls basketball.&nbsp; Banks served as a volunteer and assistant at Benton from 2015 to 2017, before becoming the head coach from 2018 to 2020 before moving to the middle school level and serving as the boys head coach at Spring Garden Middle School and then as the girls head coach at Savannah Middle School most recently&nbsp;

After a controversial start to his NFL career, new Chiefs punter Matt Araiza is getting a fresh start in Kansas City during Training Camp in St. Joseph.

Araiza was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2022, but they cut him after sexual assualt allegations. 

Araiza says he wasn't sure if he would ever get a shot in the league again.

"There were times that I didn't, and there were times that I did, it honestly kept going back and forth in my mind," Araiza tells reporters after practice.  "But yeah there was a lot of moments where I thought it was over, so I'm incredibly grateful to be here."

The lawsuit against Araiza was dropped in December.  Kansas City signed the punter in February.

Araiza has a unique trait that not many NFL punters have. He punts with his left foot. 

Special Teams Coordinator Dave Toub has said that's what made signing Araiza appealing, because the ball just comes differently off the left foot. 

Araiza also says he feels like that gives him an advantage. 

"I've punted with a lot of guys in the NFL, a lot of guys come to San Diego during the offseason and train, and the one thing I have over everyone is how much my punts move," Araiza says. "I've caused a ton of drops here, and I'm looking to see that on Sundays I think that will be great, someone muffs a punt that is a huge game changing play."

One fan of Araiza is his head coach Andy Reid

"I like him, just keep working, consistency always as you go, but you can see it I mean he's booming the thing," Reid says. "Be curious to see it in games, let's see how he does there."

Araiza, who has been coined with the nickname 'Punt God', says it will be pretty surreal to step on the field on Sundays after believing his career might have been over.

The Chiefs practiced for just over two hours today.  The only new injury reported from Reid was Chris Jones who took what he called a "stinger" to the shoulder. 

The Chiefs practice again tomorrow on the Missouri Western campus in St. Joseph at 9:15.  It is the last public practice this week before Saturday's preseason game.

Punter Araiza sees Chiefs Training Camp as a fresh start

Trailing entering the ninth inning, the Kansas City Royals got some late game heroics from outfielder MJ Melendez in a 3-2 win over the Tigers on Sunday.&nbsp;

Detroit took the lead off of starting pitcher Michael Wacha in the second inning on an RBI single from third baseman Gio Urshela scored left fielder Zach McKinstry.&nbsp; The lead would be extended in the fifth, a sacrifice fly from Matt Vierling scoring Javier Baez.&nbsp;

With the Royals trailing 2-0 entering the ninth inning, the Tigers brought on closer Shelby Miller.&nbsp; After Hunter Renfroe led the inning off with a single, Michael Massey who pinch hit for Paul DeJong would pop out to third base, but then Freddy Fermin would single.&nbsp;

With two runners on and two outs, after Adam Frazier pinch hitting for Garrett Hampson lined out to center field, the Royals would call on MJ Melendez to pinch hit for Dairon Blanco, and Melendez would answer blasting a three run home run to right field, giving the Royals the 3-2 lead.

Hunter Harvey, who blew a save situation on Saturday, would be brought in again by manager Matt Quatraro for the save, and would give up just one hit on way to his first save of the season.&nbsp;

Wacha pitched six innings and gave up two runs on seven hits, walking four batters and striking out two.&nbsp; Chris Stratton would earn the win in relief after pitching a scoreless eighth inning.

The Royals will now welcome the Boston Red Sox to Kansas City for a three game series starting on Monday.&nbsp; Brady Singer will start for the Royals, looking to follow up a July where he was 4-2 with a 2.27 ERA, while James Paxton will pitch for Boston.&nbsp;

First pitch on Monday is set for 7:10pm with a 6:30 pregame on KFEQ.

Late game heroics from MJ Melendez gives Royals 3-2 win over Tigers

An adjustment this NFL season for fans, players and coaches alike will be to a new kickoff rule.  

People got their first look at the rule during Thursday's Hall of Fame game between the Chicago Bears and Houston Texans.  

Chiefs Special Teams Coordinator Dave Toub says he was excited to see it in action in an actual game 

"Couldn't wait to see it, I was like everybody else was I was the same way," Toub tells reporters after practice. "I thought there might've been a couple bigger returns, but they kept it kind of vanilla especially in this first game, but you've got a lot more games coming up here Thursday and Friday I guess."

Preseason will be the big evaluation period for how to play into the new kickoff rules.  

Toub says kicker Harrison Butker has spent a lot of time preparing for the new kickoff 

"In the afternoon we're inside, we're kicking off in there, we're working kickoffs inside," Toub says. "So, he wants to kick off all the time, so we've done a lot experimenting with that, and he's got a variety of kicks." 

As the Chiefs special teams unit adjusts to a new kickoff rule, they also continue to search for who could be back returning kicks and punts.  

One option is third year receiver Skyy Moore who has had his struggles producing for the Chiefs since being drafted two years ago.  

Moore says that he sees more opportunities to make an impact in the return game with the new kickoff rules 

"I see the benefit in putting that rule in, it's definitely going to make the game more exciting, more kickoff return opportunities, so I'm excited for that for sure," Moore says. 

It was a lighter practice today for the Chiefs as they held a "10-10-10 practice. 10 offensive plays, 10 defensive plays, 10 minutes of special teams cycling, practicing for just under two hours. 

The Chiefs return to the practice fields tomorrow at 9:15 for the first of three more practices this week ahead of Saturday's preseason game.

During a lighter practice on Sunday for the Chiefs there were no new additions to the injury report, but there were a handful of players that returned to practice. 

Cornerback Jaylen Watson, who returned to practice on Friday in a yellow non-contact jersey, was back in his normal jersey as he hit the practice field.  Also returning to practice was safety Deon Bush and receiver Justin Watson. Both had missed part of training camp with ankle injuries. 

After leaving practice on Friday with a slight shoulder injury, offensive tackle Wanya Morris was also back at practice on Sunday.&nbsp; Cornerback Nahzee Johnson was also back at practice today.

Chiefs Training Camp gives special teams unit chance to adapt to new kickoff rules

Vinnie Pasquantino opened the scoring for the Royals in the sixth inning on his 15th home run of the season.&nbsp; But the Tigers would tie the game up in the bottom half third baseman Andy Ibanez singling to score first baseman Bligh Madris.&nbsp;

Kansas City took the lead back in the seventh thanks to a recently acquired player as third baseman Paul DeJong blasted his 19th home run, and his first as a Royal, to left field and scoring Michael Massey for a 3-1 lead.&nbsp;

Starting pitcher Michael Lorenzen was solid in his debut for the Royals giving up just one run over 5.2 innings and striking out five batters.&nbsp; Relievers Sam Long and Lucas Erceg pitched 2.1 hitless innings, striking out one batter each.&nbsp;

Kansas City would call on Hunter Harvey to get the save, but the Tigers hit the reliever hard, Madris hitting his first home run of the season to get within one run, before a double from shortstop Javier Baez scored third baseman Zack McKinstry to tie the game.&nbsp; It was Harvey's third blown save.&nbsp;

The Royals did take the lead back in the top of the tenth inning, a Bobby Witt Jr sacrifice fly scoring Kyle Isbel.&nbsp; But the Tigers would again tie the game in the bottom half on a double from designated hitter Justyn-Henry Malloy to score right fielder Wenceel Pérez.

After Kansas City scored another run in the 11th inning, Hunter Renfroe singling to bring in Dairon Blanco, the Royals called on James McArthur to close the door, but Detroit would again score on some clutch hits.&nbsp;

After Tigers center fielder Parker Meadows to lead off the frame, scoring outfielder&nbsp;Ryan Vilade, McArthur would intentionally walk Baez to put runners on the corners.&nbsp; But after catcher Jake Rogers grounded into a double play,&nbsp;Perez would single and score Meadows for the walkoff win.&nbsp;

It was the sixth blown save of the season for McArthur and his fifth loss as his ERA ballooned up to 5.32.

The Royals will now look to secure a series win over the Tigers on Sunday.&nbsp; Michael Wacha is set to start the finale against a starter to be determined by Detroit. First pitch is at 12:40 with pregame at noon on KFEQ.&nbsp;

The Royals would draw within one run in the second inning, Salvador Perez hitting his 20th home run of the season to left center.&nbsp; Kansas City would go on to take the lead in the fourth inning.

The tying run didn't come easily though for Kansas City.&nbsp; A Hunter Renfroe double brough Salvador Perez around third where he was initially called out at home, but after a challenge by Manager Matt Quatraro, the umpires overturned the call and Perez was safe avoiding the tag of Tigers catcher Jake Rogers. Renfroe would later come around to score on a sacrifice fly from third baseman Paul DeJong.&nbsp;

A big six run seventh inning pushed the Royals ahead for good.&nbsp; Vinnie Pasquantino singled to score Dairon Blanco and Maikel Garcia.&nbsp; With Bobby Witt Jr at second base, the Royals would execute a successful double steal, moving both Witt and Pasquantino 90 feet into scoring position.&nbsp;

Royals roll to fifth straight win, stomp Tigers 9-2 

The Chiefs made a splash during free agency signing veteran quarterback Carson Wentz as their new backup to replace Blaine Gabbert who became a free agent.  

Wentz, whose been in the league eight years and started for several teams, provides a solid backup option for Patrick Mahomes.  

In what he's seen from Mahomes working alongside him, Wentz jokingly made an obvious observation 

"He's pretty good, not that I needed to learn that physically being here" Wentz jokes with reporter's post-practice.  "Just kind of the way he sees the game is unique and the way he plays and just the anticipation he plays with, sometimes its maybe not the main throw on a play but he's making things work, so it's just cool to kind of see not only the offense come together but just how he sees it maybe a little different at times." 

When it comes to backup quarterbacks the Chiefs have had rare misses of late when it comes to guys ready to step up when needed.  

Chad Henne, Blaine Gabbert, and this year it's Wentz.

Head Coach Andy Reid says he's been pleased with Wentz thus far in the backup role 

"Really like what I've seen from him, he's got a real good feel for the game, smart kid, real smart, and has picked it up quickly," Reid says.  

Chiefs' fans have been privy to the unique playstyle of Mahomes for a few years now. 

Wentz has also known about it and is getting an up-close look during this year's training camp.  

Wentz says the outstanding things Mahomes can do is just a kid playing ball 

"Playing street ball out there at times is sometimes the joke back there," Wentz explains. "Truthfully I can relate to some of that over my career, that's kind of just how I've seen the game, so it's fun to see it work so well the way he does it." 

The Chiefs are off tomorrow after a two-hour practice today.  They are back on Sunday at 9:15 when there is a $5 admission fee.

One Chiefs player that had been sitting out of practice returned during Friday's practice, and two more were injured but not much else changed from the previous injury report.  

Cornerback Jaylen Watson, who has spent all of training camp thus far on the PUP list, was spotted practicing today in pads and a helmet while wearing a yellow non-contact jersey. Watson is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.  

New to the injury report today was cornerback Kelvin Joseph with a slight hamstring injury.  Offensive lineman Wanya Morris left practice on Friday with a shoulder injury.

Carson Wentz settles into backup quarterback role in Chiefs Training Camp

Vinnie Pasquantino blasted two home runs and the Royals extended their winning streak to four games, blowing out the Detroit Tigers 7-1 to open up a four game series.&nbsp;

The Royals took the early 3-0 lead in the first inning on Pasquantino's first home run of the game to right field, scoring Maikel Garcia and Bobby Witt Jr.&nbsp;

A sacrifice fly from Tigers first baseman&nbsp;Bligh Madris in the fourth inning would give Detroit their lone run of the game, scoring second baseman Colt Keith.&nbsp;

A single from Freddy Fermin in the seventh would drive in one more run, then in the eighth the Royals opened the door even more.&nbsp; After Bobby Witt Jr hit his 20th home run of the season to left center field, Pasquintino would hit his second blast of the evening, again to right field, to go back to back with Witt Jr and pushing the lead to 6-1.&nbsp;

Witt Jr drove in another run in the top of the ninth, an RBI double driving in Kyle Isbel for the final score of the game.&nbsp;

Royals starting pitcher Seth Lugo pitched a gem, going eight innings and striking out three while giving up just the one run.&nbsp; Will Smith closed out the game, walking one batter but strking out two.&nbsp;

Game two of the series on Friday will pit two All Stars against each other as Cole Ragans takes the mound for Kansas City, facing off with Tigers lefty ace Tarik Skubal.&nbsp;

First pitch Friday is again at 5:40pm with pregame at 5 on KFEQ.

Pasquantino's two homer game powers Royals to 7-1 victory over Tigers

The Kansas City Chiefs defense is still discovering its identity during training camp, working to replace some key pieces from last year's squad.  

With a defense full of new faces, people have had to learn new roles to step in and fill holes left after the losses of guys like L'Jarius Sneed and Willie Gay.  

But overall, safety Bryan Cook feels while everything does take time, the defense is developing well. 

"Everything that you want to be polishing away so that we can be able to compete at our highest level come the regular season, you're going to take little rinks and kinks," Cook tells reporter's post-practice. "Obviously LJ went on and moved on, and props to him, but now we have the opportunity to come together as a team with new faces and new guys to be brought into the system, so it's a challenge but we're looking pretty good so far." 

The Chief's secondary has had their work cut out for them during training camp, being challenged by some speedy receivers 

Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy, Mecole Hardman, all guys who run a sub 4.5 40.  

Cook says being challenged by all that speed has been great. 

"4.3, 4.2, 4.3, 4.2, so that's a lot of work on our back end but every day we keep grinding, we get a chance to compete with them on the highest level," Cook explains. "Obviously 15 (Mahomes) throwing the pill the way he is, so just every day is a competition, every day we look forward to it." 

In fact, during today's practice Worthy burned past Cook for what would have been a 50-yard score.  

The past week of practice has seen Brown, Worthy, Rashee Rice, and Hardman all on the field at the same time making plays.  

Offensive Coordinator Matt Nagy says they're very optimistic about this year's receiving room, but it's important to get them to work together. 

"Being able to put those three guys together in unison schematically, learning how to win versus man, having a great feel and learning how to get open for Pat in zone, Kelce is phenomenal at that versus zone, so they get to watch Kelce in zone," Nagy says. "So, it's important that the three of those guys get together and we can move them around like pieces of the puzzle." 

The Chiefs practice again tomorrow at 9:15.

One new player was added to the injury report during Thursday's practice, while everyone who left practice on Wednesday remained out.  

Safety Deon Bush was absent from practice today with an ankle injury.  Nick Bolton remained sidelined with an elbow injury and Kadarius Toney sat out practice with an ankle injury.

Chiefs secondary put to the test during training camp by new, speedy receivers

It was a hot and steamy day at Missouri Western State University as the Chiefs returned to practice after a day off on Tuesday.  

Temperatures were up near the 100's and there were a handful of players that left practice with injuries, luckily none heat related.  

Head Coach Andy Reid says the work to keep players on the field in the heat starts before practice making sure guys are staying hydrated 

"We don't have very many of the hydration issues, which is a positive, our trainers do a nice job of that," Reid tells reporter's post-practice. "And then during practice we water break them, so we'll go a certain number of plays, then you'll see the people run the water in and give them a quick shot, and then hop back out." 

During training camp fans and coaches have had their eyes on one receiver looking to make an impact in his second year in the league.  

After spending last season on the injury list, Nikko Remigio has been making big plays in the offense and on special teams 

Remigio says the mentality he takes to get through camp is to just be resilient 

"And that's really been kind of the moral of my entire journey is just staying resilient and continuing to punch," Remigio explains. "I've always been an underdog at every single level of football that I've played at, so being in this position is nothing new to me, so just making sure that I'm still fighting and being the best version of myself every single day." 

Head Coach Andy Reid says he's been impressed with the development of Remigio 

"He's getting better every rep he gets, so that's a positive thing for us," Reid says. 

Remigio also worked during the offseason with quarterback Patrick Mahomes.  Special Teams Coach Dave Toub has been especially impressed with him on punt and kick return.  

The Chiefs return to practice tomorrow at 9:15.

Justin Reid, Justin Watson, and Nazeeh Johnson were all still absent from practicing, though they were all present on the practice fields, as they continue to recover from injuries.  

Head Coach Andy Reid reports that tight end Izaiah Gathings left practice Wednesday with a hamstring injury.  Wide receiver Kadarius Toney, offensive lineman Chukwuebuka Godrick, and offensive lineman McKade Mettauer all left with ankle injuries.  

Middle linebacker Nick Bolton went down during 11-on-11 drills, Reid reports Bolton left practice with an elbow injury.  

In positive news, Chiefs cornerback Jaylen Watson was back in a helmet and pads on Wednesday after passing a physical and being removed from the PUP list.

Chiefs push through heat as they return to practice Wednesday

The Kansas City Chiefs had a lighter practice today during Training Camp. 

The Chiefs held a 10-10-10 practice, cycling through 10 offensive plays, 10 defensive plays and 10 minutes of special teams 

Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo says the value of these types of practice is more mental than anything 

"I think we went three straight days with pads, and I think Coach Reid would tell you the same thing, it's a good way to get a lot of work done but take a little bit of the physicality off and it was about time with our guys," Spagnuolo tells reporter's post-practice. "And now they'll have the day off and it works pretty good." 

"It's a little agonizing for me sometimes because you can't do anything physical" Spagnuolo jokes about the 10-10-10 practice. 

The Chiefs got a big boost to their offensive line over the weekend as guard Joe Thuney was cleared to return to action and was back at practice on Monday. 

Thuney had spent all of Training Camp to start on the physically unable to perform, or PUP, list after suffering a pectoral injury in last year's playoffs. 

Center Creed Humphrey says it's great to get a veteran like Thuney back 

"Getting to have him back doing some group install stuff, some indy (individual) stuff, it's been good and obviously he's a big-time leader for us, he has a ton of experience, and he's a heck of a player," Humphrey says. "So, whenever you get a guy like that back its great." 

Thuney worked with the starters during the teams install period, but seems to be working back slowly, giving snaps during drills to rookie Hunter Nourzad

Roles are shifting all over the Chiefs defense as defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo looks to replace some key players from last year's squad.  

Cornerback Trent McDuffie, an All-Pro last season, has seemingly been tabbed as the number one corner to replace L'Jarius Sneed who was traded.  

McDuffie says even in an all-pro season he was still learning in his role as a nickel corner, and now replacing Sneed he says is a whole different ball game. 

"Inside you've got help here and there, you can do things a little differently, but on the outside on the island, you have to be a technician," McDuffie explains. "And coming into this camp knowing that I might have to do some more of that, it's been each and every day working little by little on technique, technique, and just trying to perfect myself out there." 

Spagnuolo says while they have their number one corner in McDuffie, there is still much evaluation going on for who else will fill out the secondary.  

The Chiefs are off from practice tomorrow. They're back at 9:15 on Wednesday

Chiefs have a lighter training camp practice ahead of Tuesday off day

The St. Joseph Mustangs overcame adversity after losing the first game of the MINK League championships, coming back and winning the next two games for their ninth title in 15 years.&nbsp;

The Mustangs defeated the Clarinda A's 3-1 on Saturday at Phil Welch Stadium.

The matchup was a pitching duel through the first three innings as Mustangs starter&nbsp;Trenton Roehler and A's starter&nbsp;Brennan Sefrit gave up a combined five hits.&nbsp; The Mustangs would break through in the fourth inning.

After Darius Freeman singled, and proceeded to steal second base, a single from catcher Dom Felix would score Freeman to give the Mustangs a lead.&nbsp; That lead would be extended in the fifth as Easton Bruce would single to score Trevor McCollum.&nbsp; Two batters later, a groundout from&nbsp;Carson Schrack would bring in Jordan Black.&nbsp;

The A's would score their lone run in the top of the sixth inning, an RBI single from&nbsp;Evan Smallwood scoring&nbsp;Conner McKnatt.

Roehler would earn the win in the start, pitching 5.2 innings giving up seven hits and one run while striking out four.&nbsp; East Buchanan alum Bronco Whitt pitched two scoreless innings of relief and Jaren Guck got the save.

It was an outstanding year for the Mustangs, finishing with an overall 40-9 record while going 33-8 in the conference, one of the best records in the history of the franchise.

At the end of such a special season, Manager Johnny Coy says what's made this season so special is all of the great players they recruited to play here.&nbsp;

"Bringing a lot of good players in here, it makes it easy when you have fans that we have here, guys want to come here, it's a big attraction, huge fans, we win a lot, we've got a lot of things that other teams in the league don't have, other teams in the whole area whether it's this league or not don't have" Coy tells reporters following the win.&nbsp; "It's just a crazy thing that in St. Joseph, Missouri we have such an awesome thing going on here and it's only going to keep getting better and better every year."

It was the last game at the collegiate level for Noah Bodenhausen, a Savannah alum and Northwest Missouri Bearcat.&nbsp; Bodenhausen says its great to have the season end this way.&nbsp;

"You can't ask for a better way to end it, we were just trusting the process, what we've been doing all year long, we had a lot of wins this year and we just tried to keep it rolling through the playoffs and we did that pretty well," Bodenhausen says.&nbsp;

And it was also special for Bodenhausen to bring home the championship in front of the home crowd at Phil Welch Stadium.&nbsp;

"I know a lot of these people that are here, I've grown a relationship with them over the last four years being here, and it just feels great to be able to go out and get it done for them," Bodenhausen explains.&nbsp;

With the 2024 season in the rear view mirror, the Mustangs now turn their attention to 2025 and hope to bring home a 10th title.&nbsp;

Mustangs beat Clarinda A's 3-1 to claim ninth MINK league title in 15 years

After an exciting offseason that saw Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce trotting around the globe, he's now back with the Chiefs seeking to make history.  

Kelce says that it hasn't been much of a transition to get back to work at training camp, and calls St. Joseph his "sanctuary" 

"St. Joe, year 12, that means I've spent just about an entire year of my life up here in the dorms," Kelce tells reporter's post-practice. "Everybody may see that as pretty grueling, but I enjoy it man, there's something about this place that gets you ready every single year and I'm not going to lie I got pretty excited as the time started counting down to get out here and get this thing rolling." 

Kelce says the biggest challenge this offseason was getting his body ready after the toll taken on it last season.

There is a lot of excitement this Chiefs Training Camp about new faces that promise to make an already dynamic team even more competitive.  

Kelce says he's excited about a lot of those new pieces. 

"We got new chess pieces, guys that have different traits and we're just trying to blend that all together to make the best team possible, both on offense and defense and obviously special teams," Kelce says.  "It's just the ultimate grind session of working together." 

"We have to be more together right now then even, well I don't want to say during the season, but right now this is where you really build that togetherness, that chemistry, that ability to lean on each other and fight for each other." 

While there are a lot of new faces on this year's Chiefs team stepping into new roles, it's the same story for one not so new face on the defense. 

The Chiefs lost linebacker Willie Gay to free agency this offseason, and now it's expected that third year linebacker Leo Chenal will have his role expanded to fill that gap.  

Chenal says right now he's just doing whatever coaches ask him to do.  

"I have certain strengths to my game, whether it's getting on the line or addressing blockers, so it's really just doing whatever Spags asks me to do," Chenal explains.  "Lining up in the A gap, on the edge, off the ball, I'm getting more and more comfortable with the things I didn't do in college and hopefully it will get me more time on the field, and I can help the team out as best I can." 

Chenal says it's been good to learn all these different formations and says he's been working with guys like George Karlaftis, Chris Jones, and defensive line coach Terry Bradden on ways to line up and defensive line moves.  

The Chiefs held their second practice in full pads and practiced for nearly two hours today.  They practice again tomorrow at 9:15 at Missouri Western State University.

The Chiefs know whose kicking, but who could be returning kicks?

Kansas City Chiefs special teams coach Dave Toub knows who's going to be kicking off this season, but as for punt and kick returns that's still being determined. 

Toub says every practice he has at least 19 guys working out at punt and kick return, but realistically in his mind there are five or six that could take the job.  

"(Xavier) Worthy no question, (Kadarius) Toney is in there, Mecole, Hollywood he's exciting to think that he can do it," Toub says. "And the guy that's done a really good job is Nikko Remigio." 

Toub says he's already tabbed Harrison Butker as the guy who will be kicking off this season, under new kickoff rules, which Toub says he's both excited and nervous about. 

"We've been working on it a lot, we'll work on it again tomorrow in practice, you work on it in walkthroughs almost every time," Toub explains. "But there's a lot of unknowns with it, how are teams going to attack you, what are they going to do and what are the kickers going to do, what's going to be the philosophy, and how are they going to officiate it too."  

Toub says it's going to be an ongoing learning process and stresses the importance of this year's preseason games.

Chiefs' receiver Justin Watson was again not in pads for practice today.  Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid said on Friday that he's day to day with an ankle injury.   

Watson was spotted after practice getting some work in taking passes off the jugs machine kneeling on one knee.  There was no boot, no noticeable wrap, no noticeable limp before he headed back to the training complex. 

Cornerback Nazeeh Johnson again left practice early following cornerback and wide receiver drills.  He did walk off the field on his own power and seemed to want to return to practice before leaving for the training complex.

After traveling the globe, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce glad to be back in St. Joseph

The St. Joseph Mustangs forced a decisive game three in the MINK League championship series, defeating the Clarinda A's 5-3 in St. Joseph on Friday night.

The Mustangs took the first lead of the game in the second inning, left fielder Noah Bodenhausen, a Savannah alum, hit a two RBI single scoring Jordan Black and Trevor McCollum.

But the A's would snatch that lead in the top of the third scoring three runs when designated hitter Conner McKnatt would drive in one and then one at bat later first baseman Drake Cobb would reach on an error from shortstop Mason Holton and drive in two runs.

The A's last won the championship in 2013.
