KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The MIAA announced conference schedules for spring sports on Friday. All 2020-2021 schedules were approved by the Association's CEO Council on June 15, and the Institutional Representative Council (IRC) on June 9.

In response to the NCAA requirements in maximum and minimum allowable contests for the 2021 baseball, softball, and tennis seasons, the MIAA Scheduling Subcommittee modified the existing schedules for each sport. The MIAA Scheduling Subcommittee is comprised of an athletic administrator at each member institution.

This year's baseball schedule is comprised of 11-weekend conference series in a doubleheader and single-game format. In softball, teams will play a doubleheader against each conference opponent. Men's and women's tennis will conduct its Association matches over a five-week period beginning on March 22 and concluding on April 25.

The temporarily reduced maximum contest numbers for all three sports will allow for non-conference competition. Non-conference schedules for all three teams will be released at a later date.

MWSU's MIAA schedules released for baseball, softball & tennis

MARYVILLE, Missouri – The MIAA has released its 2021 baseball schedule that has the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats playing host to six home weekend series next spring.

In response to the NCAA requirements in maximum and minimum allowable contests and dates for the 2020-2021 season, the MIAA's CEO Council approved a new 33-game conference schedule.

The MIAA Tournament will take place May 12-15 in a double-elimination format at a pre-determined finals site.

Head coach Darin Loe is entering his 22nd season leading the Bearcat baseball program. Loe's 526 victories are the most in school history. Loe has helped lead the Bearcats to 19 20-win seasons and an MIAA regular season title in 2018.

The MIAA Championship Tournament will be contested May 6-9.

The Bearcats will be under the direction of 15th year head coach Ryan Anderson. Anderson has accumulated a program-best 327 victories since taking over in 2007. He has guided Northwest to 11 20-win seasons.

The Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association has approved its women's and men's tennis schedules for spring 2021.

All 2020-2021 schedules were approved by the Association's CEO Council on Monday, June 15, and the Institutional Representative Council (IRC) on Tuesday, June 9.

The Northwest Missouri State University women's and men's tennis teams will play host to three home duals on the Frank Grube Courts at the Mark Rosewell Tennis Center.

The 2021 MIAA men's tournament will be a four-team bracket consisting of two MIAA teams and two more from the Great American Conference. It will be contested April 29-30.

The 2021 MIAA women's tournament will consists of six teams and will be played May 1-2.

Bearcat tennis has thrived under the guidance of 37th-year head coach Mark Rosewell. Rosewell has tallied 1,103 coaching victories at Northwest and holds the distinction of being only the second MIAA coach in any sport to reach 1,000 wins. He has coached 38 teams to NCAA Tournament competition.

MIAA announces Northwest's spring league schedules

The Nebraska athletic department is reducing its 2021 budget 10% because of projected revenue shortfalls tied to the coronavirus pandemic.

Nebraska's budget was $140 million last year, meaning it is looking to save about $14 million this year, the school said.

Athletic director Bill Moos said 10% of administrative positions across the department will be eliminated, and teams will schedule more regional nonconference games to reduce travel costs. There will be no merit raises or increases in sports programs' budgets.

Staff travel will be restricted, except for recruiting, and summer programming for athletes will be limited in 2021.

"While many of these necessary changes are difficult, especially those impacting our employees, we hope that they will be the only ones necessary in the months ahead," Moos said. "I am confident that we will weather the storm."

Football coach Scott Frost ($5 million guaranteed annual salary) and men's basketball coach Fred Hoiberg ($3 million) announced Thursday they would donate portions of their salaries to the department's general operating fund.

Nebraska cutting 10% of 2021 athletic budget because of coronavirus

MWSU will make the trip to Claremore, Oklahoma, on Nov. 19 to open the season at Rogers State before playing at Northeastern State the following Saturday. The Griffons will try to extend last year's domination inside the MWSU Fieldhouse on Dec. 3 when they begin a three-game stretch on Tom Smith Court to open the home portion of their schedules. The first three home opponents will be Lincoln, Central Missouri and Northwest Missouri State. MWSU will close out the 2020-21 season at home with games against Fort Hays State and Nebraska Kearney.

The MIAA CEO Council also approved changes to all MIAA Championships for the 2020-21 academic year. In basketball, the top eight teams in the conference standings will advance to the postseason tournament at Kansas City's Municipal Auditorium. The two team reduction in the tournament will also eliminate one day of competition.

Both Griffon basketball teams are coming off memorable seasons. Candi Whitaker will guide the women's program for a second season after posting a 21-8 record in year-one that included a tie for fourth place in the MIAA standings. Griffon basketball schedules released for the 2020-21 season

The Northwest men finished the 2019-20 season ranked No. 1 in the nation with a 31-1 overall mark. Northwest Missouri State basketball schedules set for 2020-21

Nebraska Head Football Coach Scott Frost and Head Men’s
Basketball Coach Fred Hoiberg will each donate a portion of their salaries for
the upcoming fiscal year back to the Husker Athletic Department’s general
operating fund. The amount donated to the department will be determined as the
Athletic Department finalizes its budget in the near future. 

A native of Wood River, Neb., Frost is in his third year as
the Huskers’ head football coach. He was a two-year letterwinner at quarterback
for Nebraska in 1996 and 1997, leading the Huskers to the 1997 national
championship. His parents are both University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduates and
his mother, Carol, is a member of the Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame. 

“These are difficult times across our country and in college
athletics, and Nebraska Athletics is not immune to the financial crunch,” Frost
said. “This athletic department has been so important to my family for several
decades. Before I ever played or coached here, I was a Nebraska Cornhusker fan
first. I wanted to do my small part to help ensure our athletic department and
all of our teams have the necessary resources to compete for championships
moving forward.”

Hoiberg is entering his second season leading the Nebraska
men’s basketball program and has deep family roots to the University of Nebraska.
Both of his parents are Nebraska graduates and his grandfather, Jerry Bush, was
the Huskers’ men’s basketball coach from 1954 to 1963. 

“When I took this job, one of the things that stood out to
me most about Nebraska was its complete commitment to the student-athlete, not
just in football or men’s basketball, but in all sports,” Hoiberg said. “After
a little more than a year here, I am even more impressed with the resources
available to our young men and women. It is important to me to contribute to
keeping Nebraska a leader in student-athlete support and services.”

Griffon volleyball reveals revised 2020 schedule

Missouri Western soccer to open 2020 season against Missouri Southern

MARYVILLE, Missouri – The Northwest Missouri State University women's soccer program will play a 14-match regular season schedule in 2020.

In response to the NCAA requirements in maximum and minimum allowable contests and dates for the 2020-2021 season, the MIAA's CEO Council approved a new 14-match women's soccer schedule.

Northwest will play home matches against Missouri Western (Sept. 20), Central Missouri (Sept. 27), Washburn (Oct. 2), Emporia State (Oct. 4), Central Oklahoma (Oct. 23) and Newman (Oct. 25).

Northwest is guaranteed at least six home games and could earn more opportunities in the MIAA Tournament.

Northwest Missouri State soccer schedule announced

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State University has announced its kickoff

Missouri State announces start times for home football games

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State Athletics will honor a
group of 11 outstanding individuals with induction into its Athletics Hall of
Fame in September, school officials announced today.

The 2020 Hall of Fame class includes three football greats
in David Allen, Jordy Nelson and Darren Sproles, Laurie
Koehn (women’s basketball), Liz Wegner (volleyball), A.J. Morris
(baseball), Mike Wreblewski (men’s basketball), Attila Zsiovczky
(track and field) and Marty, John and Mary Vanier (contributors).

“This year’s group of 11 individuals is a star-studded
class, and we are excited to welcome them into the K-State Athletics Hall of
Fame,” said Kenny Lannou, Executive Associate Athletics Director for
Communications and K-State Athletics Hall of Fame Chairperson. “Each of these
inductees has made a lasting impact on K-State Athletics and Kansas State
University, and we look forward to welcoming them back to Manhattan this fall
for a special induction weekend.”

The class is the 13th in the history of the K-State
Athletics Hall of Fame, including the charter class of 1990, and will be
honored during the weekend of September 5. Official induction ceremonies will
take place on Friday, September 4, before the inductees are recognized at
halftime of the football game against Buffalo the following day.

More ceremony details will be announced later this summer.

K-State Athletics Hall of Fame – Class of 2020
Biographies

David Allen starred for K-State football from 1997 through
2000 as a running back and return specialist. Despite an injury-shortened
senior season, Allen left K-State as the all-time leader in career punt return
average, yards, attempts, and touchdowns, with his seven career punt return
touchdowns tying a NCAA record. A three-time All-Big 12 honoree, Allen burst
into the national spotlight as a sophomore in 1998, becoming the first and only
player to return a punt for a touchdown in three consecutive weeks while
setting an NCAA record with four punt returns for touchdowns in a season, earning
Consensus First Team All-American honors. In 1999 as a junior, Allen earned
First team All-American honors again and was named one of five finalists for
the Mosi Tatupu National Special Teams Player of the Year Award. Allen earned
the starting running back spot as a senior in 2000, but an injury in the first
game of the season ended his career at K-State. Allen went on to play six years
of professional football, including five years in the NFL. In 2008, Allen was
placed in the Ring of Honor at Bill Snyder Family Stadium and in 2018 was
inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame.

Laurie Koehn was one of the greatest sharpshooters in
women’s NCAA history while at K-State from 2002-05. She is the all-time leader
in 3-point field goals made in Big 12 history with 392 (also a NCAA record
until 2020) and in attempts at 942 while also holding the Big 12 record for
career free-throw percentage at 87.7. Named the ESPN.com Rookie of the Year as
a freshman, Koehn helped the Wildcats explode onto the national spotlight with
a 26-8 season and a Sweet 16 appearance in 2002. The Cats followed up that
season with a school-record 29-5 campaign in 2003 before claiming the program’s
first-ever Big 12 Championship in 2004. Koehn was named All-Big 12 three times
during her career and was a two-time Academic All-American. Koehn ranks fifth
in school history in career points with 1,733 and remains littered in the
record book for 3-pointers. Koehn signed a free agent contract with the
Washington Mystics for the 2005 season and went on to enjoy an eight-year
professional basketball career both in the WNBA and overseas. Among Koehn’s
career international playing highlights was a gold medal as a member of Team
USA’s U18 team in July of 2000 at the FIBA Americas Championship and a silver
medal as a member of Team USA again in 2003 at the Pan American Games. Koehn
was inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.

A.J. Morris led the Wildcats as a junior to their first-ever
NCAA Regional appearance. Morris ended the season with a school-record 14 wins
a 2.09 ERA, earning Big 12 Pitcher of the Year, First Team All-Midwest Region
honors, District Player of the Year, and NCAA Houston All-Regional team honors.
Morris was a finalist for two national awards, the College Baseball Foundation
Pitcher of the Year Award, and the Golden Spikes Award, given to college
baseball’s annual top player. He also became the second Wildcat and first
pitcher to ever be named Consensus First Team All-American. Morris set four single-season
records including wins, innings pitched, and strikeouts, and saved his best
games for the best opponents, going 7-0 with a 1.93 ERA against ranked teams.
Morris was a fourth round draft choice by the Washington Nationals in 2009 and
played seven seasons in professional baseball, making his MLB debut in 2016
with the Cincinnati Reds and playing with Team Italy at the World Baseball
Classic in 2017.

A walk-on safety from Riley, Kansas as a freshman in 2003,
Jordy Nelson eventually switched to wide receiver and blossomed into one of the
greatest at that position in program history. As a senior in 2007, Nelson
totaled 122 catches for 1,606 yards, both school records that stand today.
Named as one of three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the
nation’s top college wide receiver, Nelson also was named All-Big 12 as a
receiver and as a returner, and became the 10th Wildcat to ever be named a
Consensus First Team All-American. His 206 career receptions and 2,822 career
yards receiving still rank third all-time, while he also finished his career
with six punt returns for touchdowns. A second round draft choice by the Green
Bay Packers in 2008, Nelson reached stardom with the Packers and in the NFL,
winning Super Bowl XLV in 2011, setting the Packers’ single season receiving
record in 2014 and earning his first Pro Bowl selection. Nelson also earned the
NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year award in 2016 after missing the 2015 season
with an injury and leading the NFL in receiving touchdowns. Nelson retired from
the NFL in 2019 after 11 seasons with over 600 receptions, nearly 8,600 yards,
and eight Green Bay franchise records. Nelson was placed into K-State
football’s Ring of Honor in 2015 and is set to be inducted into Wisconsin’s Sports
Hall of Fame in 2020.

Arguably the greatest running back ever to play at K-State,
Sproles became a three-time All-American while with the Wildcats. In 2003,
Sproles was tabbed First Team All-American, finished fifth in the Heisman voting,
and third in the voting for Associated Press Player of the Year, all while
helping the Wildcats upset No. 1 Oklahoma en route to their first Big 12 title.
Sproles still holds numerous school records, including rushing yardage in a
single season with 1,986 yards and in a career with 4,979 yards. A gifted
returner, Sproles also still holds all-purpose yardage school records for a
single season and in a career. A fourth round pick by San Diego in 2005,
Sproles became an instant fan favorite, eventually setting the Chargers
franchise record for career kickoff return yards. A few years later in 2011
with the Saints, Sproles set the franchise and NFL single season record for
all-purpose yardage at 2,696 yards. Sproles earned his first Pro Bowl selection
in 2015 after leading the NFL in yards per punt return while with the Eagles
and went on to earn three Pro Bowl selections and All-Pro honors in his 15-year
NFL career. Sproles retired in 2019 ranking fifth on the NFL’s career
all-purpose yardage list with 19,696 yards. A Super Bowl winner with the
Philadelphia Eagles in 2017 and a member of the San Diego Chargers 50th
Anniversary Team, Sproles was also named to the NFL’s All-Decade team for the
2010 era and placed in K-State football’s Ring of Honor in 2015.

The children of K-State legacy family Jack and Donna Vanier,
Marty, John, and Mary Vanier have continued the tradition of tremendous support
of Kansas State University and K-State Athletics. In addition to their many
University, civic, and local honors, awards, and gifts, Marty, John and Mary
Vanier have contributed or been part of many critical K-State Athletics
projects benefiting Wildcat student-athletes and fans from multiple sports,
including but not limited to the K-State Golf Course Foundation at Colbert
Hills, the Baseball-Soccer Campaign, the Ice Family Basketball Center, the
Football Stadium Capital Improvements for the West Stadium Center, the Vanier
Family Football Complex, and the current South End Zone/Building Champions
Capital Initiative. Notably, all three were part of the 2005 Vanier family gift
to K-State Athletics, then in 2014, the Vanier family gave a transformational
gift of $60 million to Kansas State University benefiting many areas across
campus, with a portion earmarked for K-State Athletics and specifically the
Vanier Family Football Complex. Heavily involved in the support of multiple
organizations across K-State’s main and satellite campuses, Marty, John, and
Mary Vanier will join their parents, Jack and Donna Vanier, who were inducted
in 1995 into the K-State Athletic Hall of Fame.

The first two-time All-American in K-State volleyball
history, Liz Wegner-Busch helped the Wildcats to one of their most success four
year stretches in school history from 1998-2001. Winning 80 matches over four
years and making four NCAA Tournaments, Wegner also set the school record for
career kills with 1,907, kills per set at 4.48, 20-kill matches with 27, total
attacks at nearly 4,900, and total points at 2,161, over 280 more than the next
student athlete. She is one of only three Wildcats to post 30 or more kills two
or more times in match, including her career high of 35 against Baylor in 1999,
which ranks third in school history. Wegner was also the first K-State attacker
to post back-to-back seasons of 500 kills or more in school history. Not just
an offensive force, Wegner posted over 1,000 digs in her career to be one of
only five players ever with over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs. Her 44 career
double-doubles rank fifth all-time, including three matches of over 20 kills
and 20 digs, fourth most in K-State history. A three-time All-Big 12 selection,
Wegner became the first Wildcat in school history to be named to an NCAA
All-Tournament team when she earned the distinction in 2000 for the Mideast
Region. Wegner was also a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection and earned
Second Team Academic All-District honors as a senior.

A First Team All-American and school record holder, Mike
Wroblewski played for Tex Winter and K-State men’s basketball from 1959-1962.
As a senior in 1962, Wroblewski led the Wildcats averaging 19 points and 8.5
rebounds per game for a team that went 22-3 and finished No. 6 in the
Associated Press Top 25. His 46 points against rival KU on February 7, 1962
still ranks as the most points in a conference game for K-State, as does his
field goals made and attempted from that game. For his efforts, Wroblewski was
named a Second Team All-American and First Team All-Big 8 performer. Over his
last three years, Wroblewski helped the Wildcats to a 60-18 record, won two Big
8 championships, and appeared in the 1961 Midwest Regional Final (Elite Eight).
In 1962, Wroblewski was selected in the fifth round by the Cincinnati Royals in
the NBA Draft and was also taken by the Kansas City Bulls in the ABA draft.

A native of Hungary, Attila (uh-TILL-uh) Zsiovczky
(zhih-VOSS-key) was a star multi-event track and field student-athlete at
K-State from 1997 through 1999. While at K-State, Zsiovczky set a then-indoor
school record in the heptathlon with 5,786 points in 1998, a mark that still
ranks third all-time and still holds the outdoor school record in the decathlon
at 8,379 points, a mark set when he won the European U-23 meet in Sweden in
1999. A two-time Big 12 Indoor Champion in the heptathlon, Zsiovczky also twice
placed second at US Outdoor National Championship in the decathlon in 1998 and
1999, to twice earn All-American honors. In addition to his athletic
achievements, Zsiovczky was a three-time First Team Academic All-Big 12
selection. Internationally, Zsiovczky competed from 1994 to 2014 in 24 events
across the world, placing in the top 10 on 20 occasions and in the top five 15
times. Along with his win at the European U-23 Championships in 1999, Zsiovczky
won a World Junior Championship in the decathlon in 1996 in Australia and
finished third in the decathlon at the 2005 World Championships in Finland.
Zsiovczky also represented his home country of Hungary in the decathlon at
three Summer Olympic games – 2000 in Sydney, finishing eighth, 2004 in Athens,
finishing sixth, and 2008 in Beijing.

Fame in September, school officials announced today.The 2020 Hall of Fame class includes three football greats
in David Allen, Jordy Nelson and Darren Sproles, Laurie
Koehn (women’s basketball), Liz Wegner (volleyball), A.J. Morris
(baseball), Mike Wreblewski (men’s basketball), Attila Zsiovczky
(track and field) and Marty, John and Mary Vanier (contributors).“This year’s group of 11 individuals is a star-studded
class, and we are excited to welcome them into the K-State Athletics Hall of
Fame,” said Kenny Lannou, Executive Associate Athletics Director for
Communications and K-State Athletics Hall of Fame Chairperson. “Each of these
inductees has made a lasting impact on K-State Athletics and Kansas State
University, and we look forward to welcoming them back to Manhattan this fall
for a special induction weekend.”The class is the 13th in the history of the K-State
Athletics Hall of Fame, including the charter class of 1990, and will be
honored during the weekend of September 5. Official induction ceremonies will
take place on Friday, September 4, before the inductees are recognized at

BiographiesDavid AllenDavid Allen starred for K-State football from 1997 through
2000 as a running back and return specialist. Despite an injury-shortened
senior season, Allen left K-State as the all-time leader in career punt return
average, yards, attempts, and touchdowns, with his seven career punt return
touchdowns tying a NCAA record. A three-time All-Big 12 honoree, Allen burst
into the national spotlight as a sophomore in 1998, becoming the first and only
player to return a punt for a touchdown in three consecutive weeks while
setting an NCAA record with four punt returns for touchdowns in a season, earning
Consensus First Team All-American honors. In 1999 as a junior, Allen earned
First team All-American honors again and was named one of five finalists for
the Mosi Tatupu National Special Teams Player of the Year Award. Allen earned
the starting running back spot as a senior in 2000, but an injury in the first
game of the season ended his career at K-State. Allen went on to play six years
of professional football, including five years in the NFL. In 2008, Allen was
placed in the Ring of Honor at Bill Snyder Family Stadium and in 2018 was
inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame.Laurie KoehnLaurie Koehn was one of the greatest sharpshooters in
women’s NCAA history while at K-State from 2002-05. She is the all-time leader
in 3-point field goals made in Big 12 history with 392 (also a NCAA record
until 2020) and in attempts at 942 while also holding the Big 12 record for
career free-throw percentage at 87.7. Named the ESPN.com Rookie of the Year as
a freshman, Koehn helped the Wildcats explode onto the national spotlight with
a 26-8 season and a Sweet 16 appearance in 2002. The Cats followed up that
season with a school-record 29-5 campaign in 2003 before claiming the program’s
first-ever Big 12 Championship in 2004. Koehn was named All-Big 12 three times
during her career and was a two-time Academic All-American. Koehn ranks fifth
in school history in career points with 1,733 and remains littered in the
record book for 3-pointers. Koehn signed a free agent contract with the
Washington Mystics for the 2005 season and went on to enjoy an eight-year
professional basketball career both in the WNBA and overseas. Among Koehn’s
career international playing highlights was a gold medal as a member of Team
USA’s U18 team in July of 2000 at the FIBA Americas Championship and a silver
medal as a member of Team USA again in 2003 at the Pan American Games. Koehn
was inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.A.J. MorrisA.J. Morris led the Wildcats as a junior to their first-ever
NCAA Regional appearance. Morris ended the season with a school-record 14 wins
a 2.09 ERA, earning Big 12 Pitcher of the Year, First Team All-Midwest Region
honors, District Player of the Year, and NCAA Houston All-Regional team honors.
Morris was a finalist for two national awards, the College Baseball Foundation
Pitcher of the Year Award, and the Golden Spikes Award, given to college
baseball’s annual top player. He also became the second Wildcat and first
pitcher to ever be named Consensus First Team All-American. Morris set four single-season
records including wins, innings pitched, and strikeouts, and saved his best
games for the best opponents, going 7-0 with a 1.93 ERA against ranked teams.
Morris was a fourth round draft choice by the Washington Nationals in 2009 and
played seven seasons in professional baseball, making his MLB debut in 2016
with the Cincinnati Reds and playing with Team Italy at the World Baseball
Classic in 2017.Jordy NelsonA walk-on safety from Riley, Kansas as a freshman in 2003,
Jordy Nelson eventually switched to wide receiver and blossomed into one of the
greatest at that position in program history. As a senior in 2007, Nelson
totaled 122 catches for 1,606 yards, both school records that stand today.
Named as one of three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the
nation’s top college wide receiver, Nelson also was named All-Big 12 as a
receiver and as a returner, and became the 10th Wildcat to ever be named a
Consensus First Team All-American. His 206 career receptions and 2,822 career
yards receiving still rank third all-time, while he also finished his career
with six punt returns for touchdowns. A second round draft choice by the Green
Bay Packers in 2008, Nelson reached stardom with the Packers and in the NFL,
winning Super Bowl XLV in 2011, setting the Packers’ single season receiving
record in 2014 and earning his first Pro Bowl selection. Nelson also earned the
NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year award in 2016 after missing the 2015 season
with an injury and leading the NFL in receiving touchdowns. Nelson retired from
the NFL in 2019 after 11 seasons with over 600 receptions, nearly 8,600 yards,
and eight Green Bay franchise records. Nelson was placed into K-State
football’s Ring of Honor in 2015 and is set to be inducted into Wisconsin’s Sports
Hall of Fame in 2020.Darren SprolesArguably the greatest running back ever to play at K-State,
Sproles became a three-time All-American while with the Wildcats. In 2003,
Sproles was tabbed First Team All-American, finished fifth in the Heisman voting,
and third in the voting for Associated Press Player of the Year, all while
helping the Wildcats upset No. 1 Oklahoma en route to their first Big 12 title.
Sproles still holds numerous school records, including rushing yardage in a
single season with 1,986 yards and in a career with 4,979 yards. A gifted
returner, Sproles also still holds all-purpose yardage school records for a
single season and in a career. A fourth round pick by San Diego in 2005,
Sproles became an instant fan favorite, eventually setting the Chargers
franchise record for career kickoff return yards. A few years later in 2011
with the Saints, Sproles set the franchise and NFL single season record for
all-purpose yardage at 2,696 yards. Sproles earned his first Pro Bowl selection
in 2015 after leading the NFL in yards per punt return while with the Eagles
and went on to earn three Pro Bowl selections and All-Pro honors in his 15-year
NFL career. Sproles retired in 2019 ranking fifth on the NFL’s career
all-purpose yardage list with 19,696 yards. A Super Bowl winner with the
Philadelphia Eagles in 2017 and a member of the San Diego Chargers 50th
Anniversary Team, Sproles was also named to the NFL’s All-Decade team for the
2010 era and placed in K-State football’s Ring of Honor in 2015.Marty, John, and Mary VanierThe children of K-State legacy family Jack and Donna Vanier,
Marty, John, and Mary Vanier have continued the tradition of tremendous support
of Kansas State University and K-State Athletics. In addition to their many
University, civic, and local honors, awards, and gifts, Marty, John and Mary
Vanier have contributed or been part of many critical K-State Athletics
projects benefiting Wildcat student-athletes and fans from multiple sports,
including but not limited to the K-State Golf Course Foundation at Colbert
Hills, the Baseball-Soccer Campaign, the Ice Family Basketball Center, the
Football Stadium Capital Improvements for the West Stadium Center, the Vanier
Family Football Complex, and the current South End Zone/Building Champions
Capital Initiative. Notably, all three were part of the 2005 Vanier family gift
to K-State Athletics, then in 2014, the Vanier family gave a transformational
gift of $60 million to Kansas State University benefiting many areas across
campus, with a portion earmarked for K-State Athletics and specifically the
Vanier Family Football Complex. Heavily involved in the support of multiple
organizations across K-State’s main and satellite campuses, Marty, John, and
Mary Vanier will join their parents, Jack and Donna Vanier, who were inducted
in 1995 into the K-State Athletic Hall of Fame.Liz WegnerThe first two-time All-American in K-State volleyball
history, Liz Wegner-Busch helped the Wildcats to one of their most success four
year stretches in school history from 1998-2001. Winning 80 matches over four
years and making four NCAA Tournaments, Wegner also set the school record for
career kills with 1,907, kills per set at 4.48, 20-kill matches with 27, total
attacks at nearly 4,900, and total points at 2,161, over 280 more than the next
student athlete. She is one of only three Wildcats to post 30 or more kills two
or more times in match, including her career high of 35 against Baylor in 1999,
which ranks third in school history. Wegner was also the first K-State attacker
to post back-to-back seasons of 500 kills or more in school history. Not just
an offensive force, Wegner posted over 1,000 digs in her career to be one of
only five players ever with over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs. Her 44 career
double-doubles rank fifth all-time, including three matches of over 20 kills
and 20 digs, fourth most in K-State history. A three-time All-Big 12 selection,
Wegner became the first Wildcat in school history to be named to an NCAA
All-Tournament team when she earned the distinction in 2000 for the Mideast
Region. Wegner was also a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection and earned
Second Team Academic All-District honors as a senior.Mike WroblewskiA First Team All-American and school record holder, Mike
Wroblewski played for Tex Winter and K-State men’s basketball from 1959-1962.
As a senior in 1962, Wroblewski led the Wildcats averaging 19 points and 8.5
rebounds per game for a team that went 22-3 and finished No. 6 in the
Associated Press Top 25. His 46 points against rival KU on February 7, 1962
still ranks as the most points in a conference game for K-State, as does his
field goals made and attempted from that game. For his efforts, Wroblewski was
named a Second Team All-American and First Team All-Big 8 performer. Over his
last three years, Wroblewski helped the Wildcats to a 60-18 record, won two Big
8 championships, and appeared in the 1961 Midwest Regional Final (Elite Eight).
In 1962, Wroblewski was selected in the fifth round by the Cincinnati Royals in
the NBA Draft and was also taken by the Kansas City Bulls in the ABA draft.Attila ZsiovczkyA native of Hungary, Attila (uh-TILL-uh) Zsiovczky
(zhih-VOSS-key) was a star multi-event track and field student-athlete at
K-State from 1997 through 1999. While at K-State, Zsiovczky set a then-indoor
school record in the heptathlon with 5,786 points in 1998, a mark that still
ranks third all-time and still holds the outdoor school record in the decathlon
at 8,379 points, a mark set when he won the European U-23 meet in Sweden in
1999. A two-time Big 12 Indoor Champion in the heptathlon, Zsiovczky also twice
placed second at US Outdoor National Championship in the decathlon in 1998 and
1999, to twice earn All-American honors. In addition to his athletic
achievements, Zsiovczky was a three-time First Team Academic All-Big 12
selection. Internationally, Zsiovczky competed from 1994 to 2014 in 24 events
across the world, placing in the top 10 on 20 occasions and in the top five 15
times. Along with his win at the European U-23 Championships in 1999, Zsiovczky
won a World Junior Championship in the decathlon in 1996 in Australia and
finished third in the decathlon at the 2005 World Championships in Finland.
Zsiovczky also represented his home country of Hungary in the decathlon at
three Summer Olympic games – 2000 in Sydney, finishing eighth, 2004 in Athens,
finishing sixth, and 2008 in Beijing.

All 2020-2021 schedules were approved by the Association's CEO Council on Monday, June 15, and the Institutional Representative Council (IRC) on Tuesday, June 9. In response to the NCAA requirements in 10 maximum allowable contests for the 2020 football season, the MIAA Scheduling Subcommittee recreated the schedules by doing a blind draw. Each team has five home games and five away games. Institutions were asked to submit one date they would like to have protected (e.g. homecoming, family day, etc.) from the original 2020 schedule. Missouri Western is coming off a 9-3 season that ended with its second consecutive Live United Bowl Championship.

University football team will play a 10-game schedule in 2020 that will feature
five home contests at Bearcat Stadium. 
In response to the NCAA requirements in maximum and minimum allowable contests
and dates for the 2020-2021 season, the MIAA's
CEO Council approved a new 10-game football schedule. The MIAA also voted to have no Thursday
night games during the 2020 season. 
Northwest will open the season Sept. 12 at Nebraska-Kearney. 
Northwest's home opener in Bearcat Stadium is set for Sept. 19 against Fort
Hays State. 
The Bearcats will also play home games against Pittsburg State (Oct. 3,
Northeastern State (Oct. 10 – Homecoming, Missouri Southern (Oct. 31) and
Lincoln (Nov. 14). 
Northwest football season tickets and renewals will go on sale July 1 <a href="https://nwmissouri.universitytickets.com/w/default.aspx">online only</a>.
No in-person sales will be available in the Administration Building on the
Northwest campus. Northwest is moving away from paper tickets to a hard card
ticket that can be utilized for multiple years. It is similar to a hotel key or
credit/debit card. It will be personalized to the seat(s) that are purchased
and usable for all home games. It also allows for tickets to be put on a
smartphone and scanned at the stadium. 
All Northwest students receive a free e-ticket to each home regular season
game.

season title. Northwest was also selected to compete in the NCAA Division II

MIAA releases new Bearcats football schedule for 2020

MANHATTAN, Kansas –
Kansas State Athletics has confirmed that two student-athletes have tested
positive for active COVID-19 following PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing and the on-boarding
process of approximately 120 student-athletes through June 16. 
 
All student-athletes are required to follow the department’s return-to-campus
policy which includes a 7-day stay-at-home recommendation and quarantine upon
arrival in Manhattan and prior to testing. Under this protocol,
student-athletes are not allowed inside any department facilities nor can they
participate in any voluntary or required team activities until they have
received a negative test result. 
 
“We will always keep our focus on the health and well-being of our

MANHATTAN, Kansas –
Kansas State Athletics has confirmed that two student-athletes have tested
positive for active COVID-19 following PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing and the on-boarding
process of approximately 120 student-athletes through June 16. 
 
All student-athletes are required to follow the department’s return-to-campus
policy which includes a 7-day stay-at-home recommendation and quarantine upon
arrival in Manhattan and prior to testing. Under this protocol,
student-athletes are not allowed inside any department facilities nor can they
participate in any voluntary or required team activities until they have
received a negative test result. 
 
“We will always keep our focus on the health and well-being of our

Two Huskers on College Football Hall of Fame ballot

the College Football Hall of Fame, the National Football Foundation (NFF)

Sproles is on the ballot for the first time, while Bishop is
a repeat candidate.

“It’s an enormous honor to just be on the College Football
Hall of Fame ballot considering more than 5.4 million people have played
college football and only 1,027 players have been inducted,” NFF President
&amp; CEO Steve Hatchell said. “The Hall’s requirement of being a First Team
All-American creates a much smaller pool of about 1,500 individuals who are
even eligible. Being in today’s elite group means an individual is truly among
the greatest to have ever played the game, and we look forward to announcing
the 2021 College Football Hall of Fame Class Presented by ETT early next year.”

One of the most dynamic players in program history, Bishop
played a major role in propelling the Wildcats to their first-ever No. 1
national ranking during the second of his two seasons at K-State (1997-1998).
He still holds the K-State season passing efficiency record after a 159.6
rating in 1998 (164-of-295 for 2,844 yards and 23 TDs/4 INTs) in addition to ranking
second in season total offense at 3,592 yards.

Bishop went 22-3 as a starter, including a 15-1 mark in Big
12 play, as his 88-percent winning clip is the best mark in school history. He
was a two-time All-Big 12 performer, the 1997 Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the
Year, winner of the 1998 Davey O’Brien Award and runner up for the Heisman
Trophy that year.

Sproles, a 2003 First Team All-American and three-time
All-Big 12 performer, held 28 school records at the time of graduation, 21 of
which still stand 15 years after his playing days. The Olathe, Kansas, product
rushed for 4,979 career yards, nearly 2,000 yards more than the player in
second place. Sproles, finished fifth in the 2003 Heisman Trophy voting and
third in the Associated Press Player of the Year voting that same season, was a
three-time All-American, including earning first-team honors in 2003.

Sproles was selected in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL
Draft by the San Diego Chargers and ended up playing 15 years in the league
prior to his retirement at the conclusion of last season. He accumulated 19,696
career all-purpose yards to rank fifth in NFL history, while he ranks seventh
in career punt-return yards and eighth in kickoff-return yards. He played in
three Pro Bowls and was named to seven All-Pro teams, including six first-team
honors.

The ballot was emailed today to the more than 12,000 NFF
members and current Hall of Famers whose votes will be tabulated and submitted

Modifying regular-season schedules and championships were cost-savings measures
for each institution and the Conference Office due to the COVID-19 Global

Bearcat freshmen, newcomers among final MIAA academic honorees for 2019-20

Lincoln – Home games in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and against Creighton highlight the 2020-21 Nebraska men’s basketball non-conference schedule released Monday.  The 11-game slate also includes previously announced games against Kansas State in Kansas City, and three games in the Myrtle Beach Invitational in mid-November.

“This non-conference schedule will help prepare us for Big Ten play,” Hoiberg said. “The Myrtle Beach Tournament will give us an early measuring stick with a strong field and three games in a four-day stretch. We also have opportunities with games against Creighton, Kansas State and the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, as well as several regional opponents.”

The 2020-21 season opener will feature a family matchup as the Huskers open against Cleveland State at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 10. The Vikings are guided by second-year coach Dennis Gates, who is the brother of Husker assistant coach Armon Gates. The meeting is the first between the two programs and one of two first-time foes for the Huskers this season.

Following a game with Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday, Nov. 14, the Huskers will travel to Conway, S.C., for the Myrtle Beach Invitational from Nov. 19-22. The eight-team field includes Charlotte, Dayton, Loyola (Ill., Missouri, Penn, Pittsburgh and Utah State. The tournament bracket will be announced later this summer.

The Huskers will return home on Wednesday, Nov. 25 to take on Lamar in the first matchup between the two teams and NU’s final tuneup for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and the start of Big Ten play. The annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge will take place the week of Nov. 30 with the opponent and date announced by the Big Ten and ESPN at a later date. NU will begin conference play with a pair of games following the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Following the start of Big Ten play, NU will return to non-conference action with a pair of highly anticipated games. The Huskers will host Creighton on Saturday, Dec. 12, as the Bluejays most of their roster from a team that won a share of the Big East title.  The following weekend, the Huskers will renew one of its oldest rivalries, as Nebraska travels to Kansas City for the meeting with old conference foe Kansas State on Saturday, Dec. 19. It is the start of a three-year series which includes games in Lincoln (2021-22) and Manhattan (2022-23). 

Nebraska returns to Pinnacle Bank Arena to close out non-conference action against UMKC (Mon., Dec. 21) and Florida A&amp;M (Tues, Dec. 29) before resuming conference action in early January. The Big Ten will release the 20-game conference schedule later this summer.

The Huskers’ first action will be an exhibition contest against Peru State on Monday, Nov. 2. It will mark the third straight year that NU has taken on an in-state foe as an exhibition contest. 

This season, the Huskers return a pair of starters, including rising senior Thorir Thorbjarnarson, who led NU in 3-pointers and ranked second on the team in rebounding, and sophomore Yvan Ouedraogo, who set a school record for rebounds by a Husker freshman. NU adds a trio of sit-out transfers in Dalano Banton, Shamiel Stevenson and Derrick Walker along with a seven-member recruiting class.

St. Joseph School District: 2020 Summer Athletics Re-entry Plan

The St. Joseph School District values the importance of the educational opportunities that athletics provide and recognizes the threats presented by COVID-19. We believe our plan for re-entry will help our student-athletes workout and compete in the safest manner possible.

Phase I: June 15–28 - Conditioning Only

● Daily coach/athlete screening: If temperature is above 100 degrees fahrenheit or the athlete has been exposed to COVID-19 in the past 14 days, the coach/athlete may not remain.

● No water fountain use: Athletes must supply their own water and should show their own water bottle when they are screened.

● No balls or sport-specific work allowed.

● Re-acclimating students to physical conditioning and fitness is the priority.

● We are adhering to limits on the size of gatherings and maintaining social distancing.

● Trainers will do all maintenance work (taping) out on the fields, but we are limiting unnecessary interaction with the training room and trainers.

Phase I SPECIFIC: Conditioning – Outdoor ONLY

Maximum 60 athletes per session: 3 groups with 20 per group

● 20 on the outside with selected weights/strength activities

Phase II: Beginning no earlier than July 6 and ending no later than August 2, 2020 - Weight Training Room and Sport Specific Activities

Symptoms of COVID-19 can include fever (temperature of 100 degrees fahrenheit as defined by the CDC, cough, difficulty breathing, and other symptoms as outlined by the CDC website.● If you have been exposed to COVID-19 in the prior 14 days.● If you are unsure about whether to attend or participate in practice due to possible symptoms OR exposure, it is recommended you contact your healthcare provider.STEPS TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19:● Staying home if you are sick or do not feel well.● Using social distancing and maintaining at least six feet between individuals in all areas.● Covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throwing the tissue in the trash.● Washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.● Using hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.● Avoiding touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.● COVID-19: NSCA Guidance on Safe Return to Training for AthletesSTEPS FACILITIES/COACHES SHOULD TAKE PRIOR TO PRACTICE:● Athletes and coaches should undergo screening and temperature checks before each practice.● Sign-in roster for athletes/coaches to allow for contact tracing.● Maintain physical distancing recommendations.● Limit number of individuals.● Cleaning guidelines should be followed according to CDC recommendations.● No self-serve drink stations.CLEANING PROCESS:Weight rooms● All machines MUST be properly cleaned before and after each individual use.● Limit the number of athletes based on the size and capacity of the room to allow for physical distancing and proper cleaning between athletes.● Remove and store non-essential equipment to minimize surface cleaning. Athletic training rooms● Limit athletes based on size/capacity to allow for physical distancing and proper cleaning between athletes.● No use of cold/ice tubs for groups. However, if heat stroke/illness is a potential, an ice tub should be ready for treatment.● No use of heat packs, ultrasound, electronic stimulation units initially. These items may be used once the facility has enough cleaning supplies for essential areas and individuals. Continue to clean in between each use.● Remove and store non-essential equipment to minimize surface cleaning.Locker rooms● No use of tubs, showers, lockers until physical distancing guidelines are lifted.● Can be used as bathroom facilities only if appropriate cleaning measures can be completed.● Remove and store non-essential equipment to minimize surface cleaning.Bathroom Facilities● Conduct consistent and frequent cleaning as outlined by CDC or facilities should be locked if unable to be sufficiently cleaned.● Adequate hand washing or sanitizer available and restocked on a regular interval.Equipment● Personal equipment should be cleaned with disinfectant before and after each use.● Avoid community equipment use when possible. If not possible, equipment should be cleaned before and after each individual use. An exception is ball use.● Ball sports - wipe down balls between drills, different users or have individual use ball availability if possible.● Water/drinks - Each athlete should have their own individual drink. Encourage extra water options in case an athlete forgets their own water bottle.● Individual towel use only.Mouthguards● In the current phase of return to sport, no contact is recommended. As contact is not recommended, each individual athlete must weigh the risk of infection with the use of a mouthguard with the benefit of protecting against dental trauma. If athletes are in a position where dental trauma or contact can occur, continue to use their personal mouthguards during play with the appropriate safeguards.● There should be no sharing of mouthguards.● In between uses, athletes should wash or sanitize hands before insertion and removal of the mouthguard.● Recommend players have individual containers labeled into which they can place their mouthguard and not have it hanging on a helmet or out in the open.● If the mouthguard is soiled, or a player is unsure if they have picked up another athlete's mouthguard, the mouthguard should be washed thoroughly with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds.● Masks should be worn in public, outside of sport, as directed by state or local government and what is currently recommended by the CDC.● We do recommend that coaches, staff and spectators wear masks or face protection.● Masks should be considered while athletes are participating in their sport.
