Northwest women's golf set to tee off in 2021

  The Northwest Missouri State University women's golf team will take to the course seven times this spring in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Division II Regional under the direction of head coach Andy Peterson.

The Bearcats will open up its season Feb. 22-23 at the Northeastern State University Women's Golf Classic at The Club at Indian Springs in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Northwest will perform three times on the links in March. Northwest will take part in the Diffee For Lincoln Invitational at Kickingbird Golf Club in Edmond, Oklahoma, on March 8-9. The Bearcats will travel to Bolivar, Missouri, on March 22-23 for the Midwest Intercollegiate Invite held at Silo Ridge Country Club. Northwest will make the short trip to St. Joseph, Missouri, on March 29-30 for the MWSU Holiday Inn Spring Invitational set for the St. Joseph Country Club.

The Bearcats will get its first of two looks at Sand Creek Station on April 6-7 at the Newman Invitational in Newton, Kansas. Northwest also take part in the Augustana Spring Invite on April 17-18 at Prairie Green Golf Course in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Northwest will return to Sand Creek Station on April 21-23 for the MIAA Championship meet.

The 2021 NCAA Division II Regional is set for May 3-5 at Mules National Golf Club in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Leading a strong group of returnees are Morgan Thiele and Anna Zech. Thiele is the program's career leader in stroke average at 80.22. Thiele has competed in 51 career rounds for the Bearcats. She also holds the season stroke average mark of 78.79 set last season. Zech notched a pair of top-10 performances last season. Zech owns the program's seventh-best all-time stroke average of 82.59 in 44 career rounds.
