Harry Otto "Bud" Spillman, Jr., 83, of St. Joseph, passed away November 2, 2021.&nbsp; He was born on September 18th, 1938 in St. Joseph to Harry and Darline (Elder) Spillman.&nbsp; He married Trilby Noll of Wichita, KS on July 3, 1968 and they had 2 children together.&nbsp; They later divorced but remained friends especially after the passing of daughter, Tressa in 1995.&nbsp; Bud graduated from Central High School in 1956 while working for the News-Press.&nbsp; He served in both the Army and the Navy after high school and shared many fond stories, especially of his time in the Philippines.&nbsp; Bud worked in the trucking industry for over 25 years in Wichita, St. Joseph and Omaha and in his leisure loved to fish, hunt and read.&nbsp; Some of his fondest memories were times spent with his beloved Moila Sand Crabs and yearly trips to the Final Four basketball games.&nbsp; He cherished annual reunions with his CHS class of 1956 alumni.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carole Hopkins and youngest daughter, Tressa.&nbsp; 

He is survived by his oldest daughter, Erika (Matt) Conrad of Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren, MacKinzie, Madisun (Nick) Hanlan, Max and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp; There will be a graveside service at Memorial Park on December 21st at 10:30 am, with a Celebration of Life to follow at the Hi-Ho from 1-4 PM.

Betty Lieffring passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021. She was born on September 23, 1941, to Joseph and Lois (Preston) Giles in Mt. Moriah, MO. She worked for AJ August Menswear before taking a break, then went to work for Wal-Mart in October 1991 as a pharmacy tech until September 2017.

She married Chuck Lieffring on April 11, 1964 and enjoyed 57 years of marriage. They have 4 children, Shelley (John) Wolf, Springdale, AR, Kenny Lieffring, Faucett, MO, Sandy Lieffring, Victor, ID, and Kim (Steve) Lieffring, Belton, MO. They also have 6 grandchildren, Megan Wolf, Dublin, CA, Molly Wolf, Golden, CO, Hunter, Stetson &amp; Mallie Lieffring, Faucett, MO, and Sequoia Shire, Lake Forest, CA.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leslie and George; and sister, Joan.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck; all her children and grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Carol (Larry) Brickey, Mound City, MO, June (Bruce) Buntin, Clarksdale, MO, and Sue (Steve) Miller, Columbia, MO; brothers, Marvin Giles, Mt. Robert Preston Grace, Sr., 70, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021.

On October 24, 1951, he was born to Gene and Lucille (Sampson) Grace in Maryville, Missouri.

Bob married Linda Gail Payne on November 12, 1994. She survives of the home.

He was a hard worker. Bob was an engineer at Prime Tanning, a locksmith, into real estate and completed tax returns for HR Block. Bob enjoyed tinkering with anything from complex locks to computers and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gregory Grace; two grandsons and brother-in-law, Ron Spence.

Norma Louise Barnes, 100, passed away November 5, 2021, in St. Joseph, Missouri.

She was born September 22, 1921, in Chillicothe, Missouri, the daughter of Paul and Virginia Dowell. She graduated from both Chillicothe High School and the Chillicothe Business College. She lived in Maryville, Missouri before moving to St. Joseph in 1960.

Norma worked at the St. Joseph Public Library and later at Boehringer-Ingelheim from which she retired in 1985. She spent the next 15 winters in Arizona, attending as many big band dances as she could fit in. She liked scrapbooking her and her children’s lives. Norma read all sorts of books and kept abreast on current affairs.

She enjoyed traveling and visited Hawaii, Alaska, nearly all the Continental United States, Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, several European countries as well as Japan and Hong Kong.

During these many years, Norma made many lifelong friends and kept in touch with them, even as some spread across the country and the world. Survivors include one son, Cris Barnes, Kansas City; one daughter, Ginger Garrett (Jay), Easton; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the wonderful care and attention provided by the staff at Mosaic Hospice and Living Community of St. Joseph.

Shawn graduated from Lafayette High School, Class of 2014. He played football and baseball all four years of high school.

He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, and was an Avid Denver Broncos Fan. Most of all Shawn loved spending time with his daughter, Palmer Sue, and his family.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dixie Snyder; and aunt, Michelle Ferguson.

Karen Lynne (Erickson) Donahoo, 77, Rea, Missouri; passed away Friday, November 5, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Karen was born on April 28, 1944 in St. Joseph, Missouri to the late, Laurence and Rowena (Groenke) Erickson.&nbsp; She was a 1962 graduate of Lafayette High School.

Mrs. Donahoo worked as a service worker and retired from North Andrew High School.

Karen was a member of Rosendale Christian Church.&nbsp; She enjoyed going to auctions, reading, getting her hair done and above all spending time with her family and friends.&nbsp; She always looked forward to celebrating her favorite holiday, the 4th of July.

Karen married Shelby "Buster" Donahoo on February 20, 1971. He preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents and husband, Karen was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Huntley Wilson, infant great-granddaughter and numerous brother and sister-in-laws.

Karen is survived by her children, Kelly Hileman (Terry), Conway, MO; Cliff Petersen, Columbia, MO; Charlie Donahoo (Brandy), Rea, MO and John "Pooh" Donahoo (Lisa), Rosendale, MO; sister, Jennice Stout, Atchison, KS; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Marian “Faye” (Schottel) Gurwell was born May 24, 1932 to Pryor (Sr.) and Bertha (Ladage) Schottel in Cosby, MO. She passed away November 6, 2021 of pancreatic cancer.

She graduated from Savannah High School in 1950. She rode in horse shows and loved to roller skate. She and 7 other girls put on a halftime show at the Savannah Tournament during high school.

She married Ray Gurwell, the love of her life. They would have celebrated 70 years on December 27, 2021.

She was a member of Maple Grove Community of Christ Church, where she had been a Sunday School teacher.

Faye worked in the small appliances department of St. Joe Light &amp; Power while Ray was in the Army. When Ray got home, she was a full partner on the farm, where she raised a big garden, chickens, bottle calves, and helped sow wheat and other chores. She later worked at Colony House and retired after 20 years at Metro North Mall.

She was Grandma GG to her great-granddaughters. She was the place to go if they needed a babysitter or they needed a break from chores. You could get snacks, drinks, back rubs, hugs, play games, and laugh with Grandma GG.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Fern Dixon, brother, Pryor L. Schottel, Jr.; three sons, Terry (January 1983), Jim (February 1975) and Tim (March 1983).

Faye Gurwell  1932 - 2021

Carey B. Utterback, 74, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021.

He was born April 14, 1947 in St. Joseph to Edgar and Elaine (Seewoester) Utterback. A graduate of Central High School, Carey proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Carey married Cheryl L. Gastineau on July 23, 1965. She survives of the home.

He was an auto-body specialist for Collision Repair for many years. Carey was stubborn as an ox, ornery, and the funniest, most kind-hearted man you’d ever meet. He was definitely an exceptional man who will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Curtiss; and brothers, Vaughn, David, and Phillip Utterback.

Survivors include his wife; children, Michelle Brant and Luann Hayes; grandchildren, Kattie Tyes (Je’Neal), and Courtney Ross; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Devin, Nevaeh and Whitney; brother, Mark Utterback; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends; and his beloved cat, Fred.

Betty Elaine Kuehner 84, of St Joseph, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. 

She was born February 10, 1937 in St. Joseph, daughter of Anna and Roy Guy. She graduated from Lafayette High School, class of 1956. She was married to William "Bill" Kuehner. Betty had worked at K-Mart, Montgomery Wards, and the Buchanan Co Assessors Office. She enjoyed bowling, shooting darts, playing cards, and she loved fishing. She also loved Elvis and the KC Chiefs. Betty won the first Kuehner Family Fantasy Football League. She was a member of Savannah Ave. Baptist Church. 

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Kuehner, Sr., her parents, brothers, Roy Guy Jr. and Glenn Guy, sisters, Emma Smith, Margaret Groenke, Ruth Smith, and Anna Morris, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Judy Kuehner, and sister-in-law, Betty Lou Poling. 

Survivors include: children, Sandy (Rob) Duncan of St Joseph, Betty (David) Peters of St. Joseph, William "Bill" (Rikkie) Kuehner of Bremerton, WA, Victor (Jennifer) Kuehner of St. Joseph, Patrick Kuehner, Sr. of St. Joseph, and Michael Kuehner of St Joseph, 16 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandson, cousin, Louise Davis of Elwood, KS, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ronald M. Kuschell, 93, of Elwood, Kansas passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Mosaic Hospital in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Ron was born on January 7, 1928, to Walter Russell and Helen (Purvis) Kuschell.&nbsp; He lived most all his life in Elwood. &nbsp;He ran several Texaco stations in St. Joseph. Ron worked for Wire Rope in St. Joseph, Missouri and retired in 1993. Ron was a lover of horses and the American Royal. He was particularly fond of his stallion “Vic.” Ron loved to travel with his wife Barb. He loved his family, the Kansas City Chiefs and KU basketball.

Ron married Barbara Vandermark.&nbsp; She preceded him in death in 2003.&nbsp; He was also preceded by his parents, daughter, Ronda Kuschell and 2 sisters.

Survivors include his son, Gary Kuschell of Elwood, Kansas

Ernest was born on May 11, 1933 in Wathena, Kansas to Frank and Doris M. (Engeman) Webber.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He graduated Elwood High School in 1951 and the served in the U.S. Navy. Upon returning home, he went to work for Continental Can, then Meade Products in the printing department, retiring in 1988.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ernest married Donalee Osburn on February 21, 1959 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Robert Meeks.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ernest is survived by his sister, Judy Meeks of St. Joseph Missouri.&nbsp;

Ernest wishes were to be cremated with no services.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Bill Gann, 90, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2021.

On May 25, 1931 he was born to Harry and Helen (Robbins) Gann in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Bill married Laura Maye Richardson on July 18, 1952. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage. She precedes him in death.

He retired from the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Bill was a member of the VFW Post 06760, Fleet Reserve Association and Grace Evangelical Church. He was a talented guitarist and loved to dance. He enjoyed coaching little league when his sons were young and will be fondly remembered for his strawberry rhubarb pie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Laura; second wife, Ruth; siblings, Bob, Jimmy Lee and Nancy.

She was born May 18, 1943, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Orville and Emma (Lunsford) Banks.

Joyce was a member of Cornerstone Church in Savanah, Missouri. She enjoyed listening to Christian music, watching westerns, telling stories, cooking fabulous meals, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jackson Durham; great-grandson, Kaiber Williams; sisters, Ellen Breitkrutz, Pansy Taylor; and daughter-in-law, Maureen Williams.

Elaine Maddox (Marie Elaine Maddox), 78, of Atchison, formerly Wathena, Kansas, passed away Oct 27, 21.

She was born April 23, 1943, to&nbsp;Lawrence Deeken and Eileen (Shalz) Deeken in St. Joseph, Missouri and in 1964 she married her loving husband of nearly 53 years, Allen Lee Maddox and had two sons together.

While Elaine may have been born with a slight handicap, she always overcame any obstacle presented to her. She was strong and unabashed with a deep, sarcastic sense of humor that she passed along to her sons. Her laugh was loud and infectious; even more so when the thunderous chortle was combined with her signature banging on the table whenever she found amusement in something. Elaine enjoyed her casino time and an occasional cocktail (although she couldn’t hold her liquor). She had a particular shade of brown lipstick she wore when she planned to give someone a piece of her mind; but overall was kind, with a big heart, a love for animals and huge pride in her sons.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother, Lawrence "Bill" Deeken and survived of the home by her sons Christopher of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Billy of Atchison, Kansas.

Elaine has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.

Marie (Elaine) Maddox  1943 - 2021

Ta’Lian Kelshon Charles Wilkinson, 21, of Elwood, Kansas went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 2, 2021.

He was born April 1, 2000 to Kellie Harrington and Darron Wilkinson, raised by Godfather, Efrem Byrd.

Ta’Lian was preceded in death by his father, Darron, maternal grandfather, Jeffrey Pete Harrington, brother, Boston Wilkinson and brother, Cornelious Anderson.

Survived by mother, Kellie, fiance’, Macy Ricklefs, siblings, Kortni Ross, Tre’Nez Wilkinson (Briley), Ty’Zell Harrington, Tahana Smith and his fur babies, Cinnamon, Molly, Meech, Makya and Goober., Grandparents, Jack and Sue Bartley, aunts, Kim Gassaway (Moses), La’Shonna Byrd (Efrem), uncle Derrick Kirby, uncle Jimmy Bartley, hosts of loving cousins and friends.

Ta graduated from Riverside High School in 2019. With a host of teachers fighting this battle along side him to help him succeed. Where he participated in baseball, basketball, football and choir. Ta’s hobbies were playing piano, singing, basketball, playing PS4 with his brothers.

Ta was a warrior in his fight against Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He never wavered in his faith. He was always willing to help with a smile on his face. Ta’s love for God showed in his everyday way of life. Ta was a member of Elwood United Community Church and one of God’s strongest soldiers in his battle.

Funeral Service: 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 6, 2021.

Visitation: 1 hour prior to service from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the gymnasium.

Friends may call after 9 A.M. Friday at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home.

Burial: Bellemont Cemetery, Wathena, Kansas.

Ta’Lian Kelshon Charles Wilkinson, 21, of Elwood, Kansas went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 2, 2021.He was born April 1, 2000 to Kellie Harrington and Darron Wilkinson, raised by Godfather, Efrem Byrd.Ta’Lian was preceded in death by his father, Darron, maternal grandfather, Jeffrey Pete Harrington, brother, Boston Wilkinson and brother, Cornelious Anderson.Survived by mother, Kellie, fiance’, Macy Ricklefs, siblings, Kortni Ross, Tre’Nez Wilkinson (Briley), Ty’Zell Harrington, Tahana Smith and his fur babies, Cinnamon, Molly, Meech, Makya and Goober., Grandparents, Jack and Sue Bartley, aunts, Kim Gassaway (Moses), La’Shonna Byrd (Efrem), uncle Derrick Kirby, uncle Jimmy Bartley, hosts of loving cousins and friends.Ta graduated from Riverside High School in 2019. With a host of teachers fighting this battle along side him to help him succeed. Where he participated in baseball, basketball, football and choir. Ta’s hobbies were playing piano, singing, basketball, playing PS4 with his brothers.Ta was a warrior in his fight against Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He never wavered in his faith. He was always willing to help with a smile on his face. Ta’s love for God showed in his everyday way of life. Julia Lynn Thompson Schneider departed this life surrounded by family on November 2, 2021. Julia was born to Lewis and Rosella (Sample) Thompson on February 17,1947. A lifelong resident of St. Joseph, Julia was a precocious child as an early reader and pianist. These two childhood pursuits portended Julia’s lifetime loves of libraries and music. Julia became well known throughout her life as an excellent accompanist for other musicians, in addition to being a solo performer. She was a solo and ensemble accompanist from grade school through high school, Julia added extracurricular pipe organ studies while enrolled at Central High School, where she maintained excellent grades and played for CHS choirs, soloists, and musicals until graduation in 1965. Julia worked as a clerk and cataloguer at the St. Joseph Public Library after high school and during college. She also started as organist at Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church while working toward first an Associate of Arts degree from St. Joseph Junior College and then a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Library Science at NWMSU. Julia earned a Master of Arts degree in Library Science at the University of Missouri – Columbia in 1971, whereupon she began her long career at Missouri Western State College (later Missouri Western State University) Library as its first Acquisitions Librarian. She worked her way through Technical Process Librarian, Coordinator of Technical Services, Acting Library Director, and finally Library Director, a position she held for 24 years out of her 44-year MWSU tenure. Julia’s competency and professionalism as a librarian were well respected and she was widely recognized as a leader in that field during her lifetime. Julia was the MWSU Library’s liaison for OCLC, a national library and resource-sharing consortium. She was administrative director of many successful grant requests from the Missouri State Library for digitization of additional materials. She directed the retrospective conversion and processing of library collections at the National Military Heritage Museum in St. Joseph. Julia steered the transition of the MWSU Library to the digital age. This included converting the card catalog search method to the INLEX database, a library internet digital agency. Julia served on the Board of Directors of INLEX, based in California. Her INLEX activity included product testing, national evaluation and compilation of a database of some 280,000 book titles, and her expertise was frequently sought by libraries launching their own search for an automated integrated library system. Julia was also president of MOBIUS, a common library collaborative partnership platform-sharing volumes and access to other materials across Missouri libraries and some out-of-state libraries. Julia’s charge to organize and arrange preservation of unique and rare resources that had been donated to MWSU became her firm mission to create and curate the Special Collections Room housing such extraordinary materials at the Library. During her lifelong love of all things library, she received many awards and honors. Among them are MWSU Outstanding Administrator, MWSU Alumni Distinguished Alumni Award, MWSU Scanlon Service Award, YWCA Women of Excellence Lifetime Achievement Award. Throughout her library career and beyond, Julia was an accompanist for St. Joseph Community Chorus and many soloists at MWSU and CHS, as well as a frequent substitute organist. She was also very active in community offerings, participating in the St. Joseph Area Literary Cotillion, Wesley Foundation Board, Delta Kappa Gamma, Allied Arts Higher Education Fund Coordinator, The Runcie Club, United Way Fund Drive volunteer, Beta Phi Mu national library science honor society, and various arts and church activities. In 1975, Julia married Tom Schneider, who survives of the home. Because their respective roles as pianist/organist and choir director figured so prominently in their lives, Julia and Tom literally and figuratively made beautiful music together during their 46 years of marriage. Along with Tom's children, Bradley (Tara) Schneider and Christine (Ed) Elsea, Julia and Tom added sons Jedd, Jeremy (Amber), and Jacob (Keera). Dr. Christine Schneider is also a part of the family. Grandchildren Edward Madison Elsea IV, Emily Mackenzie Elsea, Hera Ayn (Joey) Schneider, Ella Rose Schneider, Finn Christian Schneider, and Timothy Adam Schneider brought much joy to the family and Julia’s life. She is also survived by her brother, Gary (Connie) Thompson, of St. Joseph, two nephews, and three grand-nieces/nephews. Hugh Loren Corbet, 88, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021, after a brief illness.

He was born December 13, 1932, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Clarence, Sr. and Geraldine (Uhl) Corbet.

Hugh married Rosalie “Rosie” Puccio August 6, 1965. She preceded him in death January 7, 2013.

He was a member of the Friends of The Animal Shelter and National Wildlife Federation and a proud progressive member of the Democratic party.

Hugh was a DIY master, he lived a completely active and independent life until almost the very end. Hugh loved nothing more than feeding the wild outside birds and working with his hands. He was a truly one of a kind good man and adored by his family and all who knew him.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clarence Corbet, Jr; and brother-in-law, Samuel Crowley.

Survivors include daughter, Michelle Fitzpatrick (Michael); beloved grandson, Nicholas Fitzpatrick; sister, Lora Ellen Crowley; nephew, Samuel Crowley; niece, Sarah Swindler.

Margaret Mary “Peggy” Tabor passed away on Nov. 2, 2021 at home with her family in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born on Dec. 12, 1969 in Joplin, MO to Don and Catherine Gorman - the youngest of 4 children. Peggy attended Notre Dame de Sion Preparatory School for Girls (Since 1912) and Rockhurst College, both in Kansas City, MO. During these years, Peggy spent her time perfecting her tennis game and making lifelong friendships. Most recently, Peggy worked with the wonderful team at Godfather’s Pizza’s corporate office. Peggy married her best friend Don “D.T.” Tabor on Nov. 12, 1999. They had three wonderful children, Mary Catherine (Cate), Michael (Mick), and William (Will). Together, the Tabors made friends with everyone they met at their various homes in the Midwest. Those who know Peg know that she always had an open front door, welcoming all to stop by and visit when they pleased. Everyone knew she was the Life of the Party. She would stay up all night chatting with her friends (and especially her nephews-in-law). She loved playing games, watching movies, decorating for the holidays, and watching her Chiefs play football. She loved all things Irish and trips to Table Rock Lake &amp; Lake of the Ozarks with family and friends. Above all, Peggy was the most dedicated wife, mother, daughter, and sister. Family was of the utmost importance to her - she was always there. Those who know her best know that she was “strong to quite strong.” Peggy is preceded in death by her father Don Gorman, sister Kathy T. Gorman, nephew Jimmy Gorman, and father-in-law Don E. Tabor.

William Michael ‘Mike’ Richey, 72, of Atchison, KS, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Funeral Services will be 2:30 pm, Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, 800 Kansas Ave, Atchison, KS, with Rev. Robert Ziegler, officiating. Mike entered the US Marine Corps on May 30, 1972 and served until May 29, 1976. Mike was proud of his military service to his country and was proud to be a Marine. After being honorably discharged, Mike worked for Rockwell Steel Foundry and Pillsbury Flour Mill, both in Atchison. Mike then worked for the Department of the Army at Fort Leavenworth as a Construction Representative Directorate of Installation Support from 1987 until he retired in 2015. Mike was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Atchison, and the NRA. Mike and Anna L. Hundley were married on August 31, 1977 in Leavenworth, KS. Anna preceded Mike in death on December 7, 2016 after 39 years of marriage. Mike was also preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Brandon Ross. William Michael ‘Mike’ Richey  1949 - 2021

Randall Dean Korthanke, 70, passed away Sunday, October 31st, 2021, in his home with family by his side, after a difficult battle with cancer.

Randy was born in Sabetha, April 27th, 1951. He was one of four children born to Robert “Bob” and Verneal Oldfield Korthanke.

Born and raised in the area, CK, as he was known by many, attended Robinson schools prior to graduating from Hiawatha High School in 1969. He later attended Highland Junior College. His true passion came from working and learning alongside his father farming and raising livestock; a family tradition Randy would continue until his retirement in 2020.

Among his many interests Randy enjoyed golfing, bowling, and watching Chiefs and Kansas State football games. He particularly enjoyed spending time with wife Karen, riding their Harley, traveling, especially to Mexico, and attending Renaissance Festivals. Above all he valued spending time with family.

Randy is survived by his wife Karen, and his children Kimberly Korthanke, Elizabeth Nicole Dunn (Justin), Candice Schulz (Christopher), and Christopher Nelson (Katrina),&nbsp; His grandchildren, Alana, Bailey, Camdyn, Chole, Adelynn, Liam, Jackson, Charlotte, and baby Dunn, due February 2022. Brothers, Steve Korthanke (Linda), Stanley Korthanke (LaDonna) and brother-in-law Chuck Weaver.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Marsha, and grandson Landyn.

Randy’s family and friends are invited to A Celebration Life on Friday, November 5, 2021, at 10:30 a.m., at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha. The family will also host a visitation on Thursday, November 4, 2021, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha.

Randall Dean Korthanke, 70, passed away Sunday, October 31st, 2021, in his home with family by his side, after a difficult battle with cancer.Randy was born in Sabetha, April 27th, 1951. He was one of four children born to Robert “Bob” and Verneal Oldfield Korthanke.Born and raised in the area, CK, as he was known by many, attended Robinson schools prior to graduating from Hiawatha High School in 1969. He later attended Highland Junior College. His true passion came from working and learning alongside his father farming and raising livestock; a family tradition Randy would continue until his retirement in 2020.Among his many interests Randy enjoyed golfing, bowling, and watching Chiefs and Kansas State football games. He particularly enjoyed spending time with wife Karen, riding their Harley, traveling, especially to Mexico, and attending Renaissance Festivals. Philip Stockstad, 78, of St. Joseph, passed away October 31, 2021.

Phil graduated from Dunlap, IA High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University.&nbsp; During the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Alaska with the US Air Force.&nbsp; Phil then spent 42 years as an engineer for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.

He was preceded in death by parents Ray and Margurite Stockstad.

Phil is survived by his wife, June of the home; children, Raymond (Kelly) Stockstad, Erick Stockstad, Douglas Stockstad (Shawna), Elizabeth (Todd) Gosule, Anita Jackson, Darrin (Jenna) Canter; sisters Linda (Carl) Brink, Shauna (Lloyd) Lee; brother Doug Stockstad; grandchildren Trevor (Abbie) White, Elise Stockstad, Scott (Kimberly) Young, Kristen Young,&nbsp; Amanda (Caleb) Walker, Caitlin (Parker) Colescott; and nine great-grandchildren.

Teddy Robert Butterfield, 73, Savannah, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021.

On September 21, 1948 he was born in St. Joseph, Missouri to George and Audrey (Gaylor) Butterfield.

He married Linda Williams on April 2, 1971.

Teddy was a member of the Local 518 Cement Masons for over 50 years. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tabatha Kay King; siblings, Marion, Gary, Ronnie, Danny, Cakelow and George Butterfield, Margaret Courson, and Virginia Hoffman.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years; son, Teddy Robert Butterfield II; grandchildren, Teddy Robert Butterfield III, Charles Mollus, Samantha Bowlin (Donnie), Bailey King, Dalton, Tristyn and Michael Butterfield; great-grandchildren, Rhys, Boomer, Brenley, Tez’lyn, and two more on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Teddy Robert Butterfield  1948 - 2021

David M. Mitchell-Ogden, 55, of St Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. 

He was born February 17, 1966 in Los Angeles, CA, son of Maureen Mitchell. He graduated from Verdugo High School in Tujunga, CA and attended Missouri Western State College. David loved music and playing guitar, enjoyed being outdoors, most of all he loved being a Dad. 

David was preceded in death by his mother, Maureen Hess and sister, Rita. 

Survivors include, 3 daughters, Michelle Ogden of Santa Clarita, CA, Reanna Ogden of St. Joseph and Victoria Ogden of St. Joseph, mother of his children, Carmen Davidson, sister, Deanna Sanders-Ogden of Morena Valley, CA and brother, Richard Ogden of Tujunga, CA, grandson, Joshua Steltenpohl.

Funeral Services will be 6:00 pm, Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Rupp Funeral Home, Pastor Calvin Haynes, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home. David will be cremated following services.&nbsp;&nbsp;
