Kevin Daniel Linck, 69, of rural Robinson, Kansas passed away October 29, 2021, at the Mosaic Medical Center in St Joseph, Missouri. Kevin was born on August 8, 1952, in Highland, Kansas, to Bernard and Barbara (Soden) Linck. On March 2, 1974 Kevin married his sweetheart Karen Pierson at the Willis Christian Church. From their love they had five children.&nbsp;

Kevin and his siblings were raised on a farm outside Everest were he attended grade school and then graduated from Horton High School in 1970. From there he attended Northeast Kansas Technical School in Atchison where he received a certificate in Auto Mechanics. He also attended one year at Manhattan Christian College.&nbsp;

Kevin and Karen spent most their years together living in Everest and then Robinson. Over the years Kevin spent time as a mechanic, driving a school bus for South Brown County Schools, as a member of the Everest/Horton Jaycees, and the Horton and Robinson Boy Scouts. Kevin held various positions within the church as well as being involved at Mission Lake Christian Camp in Horton, for more than 30 years.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Nathanial Linck.

&nbsp;Survivors include his wife, Karen; sons, Kim (Lisa) of Manhattan, Kirt of Robinson, Kelly (Becky) of Hiawatha; daughters, Keisha (Brandon) Statler of Holton, and Kandace Linck of Holton; grandchildren, Macoy, Pierson, Eleanor, Slader, William, Allen, Margaret, Ruby, Aaron, Alyssa (Nelver), Alex, Ashton, Kohl, Jackson; one great grandchild, Noelle; brothers, Barry (Thelma) of Havensville, Randy (Cynthia) of Horton, Dennis (Nancy) of Everest; one sister Angela (Troy) Carlton of Omaha, NE; several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

A celebration of Kevin’s Eternal Life is planned for 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 8, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha.&nbsp; Tim Champ of Freedom Hospice will officiate.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Robinson.

Homer Eugene Stepanek was born to Harrison and Amelia (Kiefer) on Aug. 6, 1934, the 8th of 11 children.

He graduated from Buchanan High School, Troy, MO, in 1952. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He has remained a Marine – proud of his country and the flag.

He attended the University of MO majoring in Agriculture. He worked for Missouri University Extension Service for 10 years as a Balanced Farming and Livestock Agent.

In 1963 he married Mary Lou Vaughn in Boonville, Mo where both were working for the University Extension Service.

Two boys joined the family – Randy in 1964 and Rick in 1966. In 1972 the family moved to a small farm near Cainsville, MO where they engaged in raising livestock and made improvements on the family farm. In 1986 Homer and Mary Lou left Northern MO for the Navajo Indian Reservation. Receiving his license credentials after attending Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, ND, in 1990, they returned to the Navajo Reservation, pastoring in Gallup, NM and working at Navajo Ministries in Farmington, NM. For 14 years they shared the Good News and love of Jesus.

Homer had the privilege and honor of marrying his two sons – Randy and Shana Jolliff and Rick and Alice Batson.

After returning to Missouri in 2000, he and Mary Lou settled in Easton, Mo.

With a mission of sharing the Gospel of Jesus, he served as a volunteer in Corrections for 16 years at Western MO Correctional Center, Cameron, MO and Western Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in St. Joseph, MO.

Homer is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou; sons, Randy (Shana) Hillsboro, KS, and Rick (Alice) Easton, MO; brothers, Earl (Annette) Stepanek, O’Fallon, Oscar Stepanek, O’Fallon; sisters, Kitty Powell, Siletz, OR, Melva Huber, Troy, MO; sister-in-law, Virginia Stepanek, Escondido, CA, Earlene Vaughn, Maysville, Noma Vaughn, Maysville, MO, and Betty Vaughn, Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Heather Christner (Aaron) Lehigh, KS, Aaron (Hannah) Stepanek, Wichita, KS, Jonathan (Lindsey) Stepanek, Hays, KS, Ryan Stepanek, Newton, KS; 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Amelia Stepanek; 3 brothers, Harry, Elmer and Leroy; 3 sisters, Mildred Stepanek, Ruth Swafford, and Virginia Harrell.

Homer enjoyed being outdoors in God’s creation, having several black Lab dogs and his pet chickens that enjoyed spending time with him. His real passion was sharing with those he came in contact with the love that Jesus had for each who would come to Him.

He left this world for his eternal home in heaven on October 31, 2021 at the age of 87.

He was born December 21, 1969, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Roy E. and Donna (Oyerly) Bailey.

Chris graduated from Lafayette High School.

Chris enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, fishing, hunting, rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, listening to 80’s music, attending his children’s sporting events, spending time with his children, family and friends.

He was a member of Savannah Avenue Baptist Church, the American Legion Post 11, and Club 40/8. He retired from the MO Air National Guard, St. Joseph.

He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Ralph E. Daum; daughter, Janet Mae Daum; great-grandson, Austin Welch; sister, Betty Dynes.

Born in St. Joseph, Missouri on October 20, 1989, she was the daughter of Julie Ann (Mignery) Purvis and Anthony Cosejo Fajardo.

Liza had an enormous heart for both people and animals. She never turned anyone away who needed her. Liza was a beautiful soul who never knew a stranger. She had the biggest, most beautiful smile. Her bigger-than-life personality was infectious to everyone around her. Her caring nature was what made her so special to everyone that knew her. She had the biggest, most full, and ever-giving heart. She was a praying woman and she is safe in the arms of Jesus. She will be forever missed.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Louis Patrick Mignery; paternal grandfather, Antonio Cosejo Fajardo; and maternal great-grandfather, Allen Willoughby.

Michael was an Eagle Scout and had earned the rank of Fire Builder in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, the Pony Express Council Honorary Camping Society. He had attended the High Adventure Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, and enjoyed camping, being outdoors, biking, cars, and stereos. Michael especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and his best friend Budro who went everywhere with him.

Patricia J. “Pat” Estes, 85, St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021.

She was born March 28, 1936 in Savannah, Missouri to Lawrence and Louise (Gerteisan) Paxton. She graduated from Savannah High School in 1954 with her brother, Bob. She then started working as a secretary for the State of Missouri and went on to be a social worker for the state. An avid bowler, Pat met David C. She retired from the state to raise her daughter and later worked for American National Bank in St. Joseph.

Pat was a published poet and was very creative with home decorating and remodeling. She had one of her rooms featured in Better Homes &amp; Gardens. She made everything beautiful.

Her ornery, outgoing personality drew people to her. She was the best mom and grandma we could ever ask for.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two brothers, Lawrence Robert “Bob” Paxton and Richard Franklin “Doc” Paxton. Virgil married Judith Ann Johnson March 27, 1982. She survives of the home.

He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, hunting, game show network, and spending time with his family.

Marilyn Elaine Decker 73, of Savannah, Missouri, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021. 

She was born December 20, 1947 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Virginia and Carl Steidel. She graduated from Benton High School and married Gary Decker Sr. on August 6, 1966. She was a homemaker and worked at Walmart for 36 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, great grandkids, and her cousins. 

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gary Decker Sr, son Gary E. Decker Jr., daughter, Kim George, brother Thomas Steidel, and grandson, Stephen Lance.

Rolla "Dude" Gerald Johnson Jr. 75, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 in a Saint Joseph hospital. 

He was born October 6, 1946 in St. Joseph, Missouri, son of the late Hazel &amp; Rolla Johnson Sr. He married Barbara Swardson Johnson on February 24, 1979 at Copeland Baptist Church, and she survives of the home. He graduated from Lafayette High School class of 1967, and from Missouri Western State University with a degree in Psychology. He owned and operated the Assisted Independence Inc. He also was a Car Salesman for many years. He enjoyed preaching for 30 years as this was his life's work. He also enjoyed fishing, playing fastpitch softball, and classic Rock and Roll. He loved cars, spending time with his family, and cooking breakfast for them every morning. Rolla was a former member of the Copeland Baptist Church, and he attended the Harvest Baptist Church in Savannah, MO. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, William Charles Johnson, brother, Jimmie L. Johnson, and sister, Rose Johnson. 

Survivors include: wife, Barbara L. Johnson of the home, daughter, Sara (Rick) Mann of St. Joseph, MO, three grandchildren: Caleb Johnson, Kileigh Gross, and Kollin Gross, sisters, Joyce Butler, Karen Johnson, and Debra Haskey.

Clifford "Butch" Becker, 61, of Faucett, Missouri, passed away, Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. 

He was born November 17, 1959 in Oklahoma City, OK, son of Mary "Punky" and Henry Becker. In 1978, he graduated from Rocky Ford High School in Rocky Ford, CO. He served in the United States Army for 15 years. On January 17, 2015, he married Apple Bowman. Butch worked at Northwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center as a Refrigeration Mechanic. Butch was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was an avid motorcycle rider and a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. He was also a part of the KC Superfan's Team and enjoyed fishing. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Christopher Nauerz, brother, Jody Becker and grandson, Allen Lee Ezell. 

Survivors include, wife, Apple Dee Becker of the home, children, Alex Reynolds of Des Moines, IA, Scotty Ketner of Overland Park, KS, Kiwi Madison of Lawrence, KS, Chance Reynolds of Faucett, Rockie Reynolds of St. Joseph, siblings, Shelly Wolfe, Pat Becker, Mike Becker and Eddie Becker, 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed yard work and being outside, hand work, making hand towels for baptisms, was Treasurer for Sunday School and a member of Pastor’s Adult Bible Class. She was married to Sherman A. “Duke” Cawthorn on Aug. 24, 1963, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Mr. Cawthorn preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 2001.

Arlene McCammon, age 87, of Macon, MO passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021.

Arlene was born on May 12, 1934 in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of Artie and Thelma (Taylor) Kunzelmann. Growing up in St. Joseph, she worked in the Kunzelmann Family Bakery followed by the Wire Rope Corporation.

She was united in marriage to Donald McCammon on September 19, 1954 in St. Joseph who preceded her in death on September 29, 2000. 

At the age of 50, she began taking college classes at Northeast Missouri State University and enjoyed being a substitute teacher with Macon Schools. Not only did she enjoy attending auctions, she worked as a cashier for both Hulett Auction Co and Charlie Burkhardt Auction Co. She volunteered for the Macon High School Band, Macon Area Food Distribution, and the First Christian Church. Her past-times included watching softball, listening to Daniel O’Donnell, shopping garage sales and auctions. She was a member of the First Christian Church and Red Hat Ladies. Family meant the world to Arlene and she loved spending time with them, especially her children and grandchildren.

Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her younger sister, Laura Springs.

She is survived by her son, Patrick and his wife Milla of Faucett, MO, her daughter Pamela Davidson and her husband Wade of Moberly, MO, her son Craig and his wife Jean of Chesterfield, MO; Five grandchildren Forest Davidson of Alpine, WY, Audrey Davidson of Loveland, CO, Drake Davidson of Spearfish, SD, Colin and Katherine (Kate) McCammon of Chesterfield, MO; several nieces and nephews.

Brenda Lynn Nevels 70, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021 in a Saint Joseph, MO health care center. 

She was born April 30, 1951 in Brigham City, Utah, daughter of Clea &amp; Lars Buist. She was homemaker, who worked in various nursing homes. 

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents. 

Survivors include: daughters, Jennifer (Jacob) McMillian, Cyndee (Kyle) Sole, and Trudy (Robert) Roe, son, Phillip (Kassie) Pay, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, a sister, Judy Simmons, and brothers, Johnny Buist and Jerry Buist.

On October 6, 1977 he was born in Denver, Colorado to Steve and Kathleen (Maher) Thalasinos.

Brian had many talents. He was artistic, musical, a wonderful cook, and a builder/remodeler of homes.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; uncle, Jim; and aunt, Loretta.

Patti Hart, 65, Saint Joseph, passed away Wednesday October 27,2021 in her sleep.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Patti was born on June 7, 1956 in Saint Joseph, Missouri to Laura (Seever) Guyer and Clifford Guyer.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She attended Benton High School then went to work at Hall Abstract.&nbsp; She finally went to work for Saint Joseph School District as the secretary at Hyde Elementary School where she was loved by students, faculty and parents for over 20 years until she retired in 2015.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Hart Sr., her son Michael Hart Jr., mother Laura Guyer, father Clifford Guyer, sister Kathy Merrick, and brother Steven Guyer.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She loved spending time with her friends and family. She is survived by sons&nbsp; Shawn Lorenz and wife Kristi, Scott Hart and wife Tonya, daughters, Jamie Smith and husband Skyler, and Cynthia Hart.&nbsp; Twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Kristen Hart; &nbsp; Her significant other Steven Annigian and her prior husband Larry Lorenz. Geraldine Elizabeth Mier, 91, St. Joseph passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, October 27, 2021.

She was born September 4, 1930 in Sullivan, Missouri, to Hugh and Annette (Mantels) Peterson. She earned her bachelor’s degree in home economics from Park College and a master’s degree from the University of Missouri.

Geraldine married William Mier on August 7, 1955. He survives of the home.

She taught home economics in Essex, IA, Shenandoah, IA, the University of Missouri-Columbia, Richmond, MO, and for 17 years at Central High School in St. Joseph. Geraldine was very active in the community. As a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, she was an Elder, Clerk of Session, Superintendent of Sunday School, sang in the Choir, and was Moderator of Presbyterian Women. She was a 72-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Areme Chapter #461, Past Matron, and Organist. Geraldine was also Past President of P.E.O., Chapter HY; Past President of the Professional Home Economics Club of St. Joseph; Past President of Social Order of Beauceant; a member of Needles of Moila and Retired Teachers of St. Joseph and Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband; sons, Marlon Mier (Teresa), Gower, MO, and Aaron Mier (Stevie), Kemerer, WY; grandsons, Collin Mier and Jace Zeit; other extended family and friends.

Margaret Ann Nash, 70, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 after a lengthy battle with cancer at her brother and sister-in-law's home in St. Joseph, who were her angels that cared for her during her 2 months of hospice care. 

She was born January 31, 1951 in St. Joseph, daughter of Elanore (Derr) and James Nash. She graduated from Bishop LeBlond High School, class of 1969 and attended Missouri Western State College for 2 years. Margaret began her career at Sister's Hospital then transitioned to Heartland Health which eventually became Mosaic Life Care. She retired as a transcriptionist after 44 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially their driveway parties, crocheting and decorating the house and yard for holiday's. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. 

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents. 

Survivors include, daughter, Andrea (David) Miller of St. Joseph, brothers, Patrick (Alana) Nash and Michael (Lorrie) Nash of St. Joseph, sister, Mary (James) Evans of Long Lane, MO, grandchildren, Taylor (Dakota), Kayton, Ali (Trevor "Scoot"), and Jameson, great-granddaughter, Summer, several nieces, nephews, other family and friends and many children and grandchildren she adopted over the years. William O. Gilchrist, 78, of St. Joseph, passed away, October 27, 2021.&nbsp; William was born May 30, 1943 in Iowa to William C. and Helen (Patterson) Gilchrist.

He graduated from Central High School and Arizona State University.

He co-owned with his parents the St. Joseph Beauty University, and later worked in security for St. Joseph Frontier Casino.

Survivors include his wife Shirley of the home; two sons, Scott Gilchrist and Jon Gilchrist (Laura) all of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren Maddie and Emme; brother-in-law Donald Silvey; two sister's-in-law, Dorothy Schuster and Connie Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

William attended Ashland United Methodist Church.&nbsp; He founded Glass Express Corvette Club, and was heavily involved and coached Little League Baseball.

Preceding him in death were his parents and first wife Marilyn Sue Gilchrist.

William has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.&nbsp; There will be a Celebration of Life Services at a later date.

William O. Gilchrist  1943 - 2021

Raymond Henry Schober, born March 15,1927 in Baker Kansas, outside of Hiawatha, and, passed on October 14, 2021 of natural causes. Ray was raised by Zelma and Ray Schober and recently suffered the loss of his brother, James R Schober. He is survived by his Nephew James H Schober, and Niece Catherine L Conner, and her two sons, Elias Frazer and Derek Frazer.

The genetic family would also like to recognize the 'local family' Ray had in Heber Springs, from neighbors to caretakers at medical facilities, and the staff at The&nbsp;Smokehouse who embraced him over the years.&nbsp; A specific hug goes out to each of his good friends and caretakers Christie and Sheila.&nbsp;

Ray moved to Heber Springs when he retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 44 years as a machinist building the trains that keep America moving. Ray was an avid collector of antique&nbsp;radios which he restored in his down time as well as collections of other memorabilia from old ads to lunchboxes.&nbsp;

Raymond Henry Schober, born March 15,1927 in Baker Kansas, outside of Hiawatha, and, passed on October 14, 2021 of natural causes. Ray was raised by Zelma and Ray Schober and recently suffered the loss of his brother, James R Schober. He is survived by his Nephew James H Schober, and Niece Catherine L Conner, and her two sons, Elias Frazer and Derek Frazer.The genetic family would also like to recognize the 'local family' Ray had in Heber Springs, from neighbors to caretakers at medical facilities, and the staff at The&nbsp;Smokehouse who embraced him over the years.&nbsp; A specific hug goes out to each of his good friends and caretakers Christie and Sheila.&nbsp;Ray moved to Heber Springs when he retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 44 years as a machinist building the trains that keep America moving. Mark Allen Tollefson, 60, of rural Hiawatha, Kansas, passed away October 24, 2021, at the Mosaic Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri. 

He was born August 4, 1961, in Horton, KS, to Robert and Beverly (Stephens) Tollefson. Mark married Valerie Enyart May 24, 1981, at the Horton First Baptist Church. During their 40 year union, they were blessed with three children.

Mark graduated from Hiawatha High School and enlisted in the military in 1979.&nbsp; He began a full-time career with the Army National Guard in 1987. This career included assignments in Hiawatha, Ashland, NE, and Fairbury, NE. In 1996, Mark returned to Hiawatha where he continued a part-time military assignment and again farmed with his family.

Mark served in a variety of leadership roles both in the church and community.&nbsp; At the time of his death, Mark was an active member of the Eternal Hope Worship Center in Hiawatha.&nbsp; Mark was also a dedicated member of the American Legion Post #7 and acting chairman of the Mission Township Board.

Survivors include: wife, Valerie, of the home; son Seth Tollefson (Robyn) of Hiawatha, KS; daughters,&nbsp; Leah Stotts (Jacob) of Derby, KS, and Annie Ceniza (Karl) of Topeka, KS; grandchildren,&nbsp; Leah, Lane, Owen, Parker, Michael, Samuel, Matthew, Kaylin and Era June; parents, Robert and Beverly Tollefson of rural Hiawatha; brother, Richard Tollefson (Lori) of rural Hiawatha; and, nephews Chanz and Geoffrey.&nbsp; 

Mark was preceded in death by:&nbsp; brother, Dennis Tollefson; grandparents Tom and June Tollefson, Ralph and Gladys Stephens; and nephew, Robert Tollefson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Arthur Weir American Legion Post #7 Memorial Fund or to the Eternal Hope Worship Center Building Fund, which may be sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, 124 S 7th&nbsp;Street, Hiawatha &nbsp;&nbsp;66434.
