Norma L. Auchenpaugh, 98, Atchison, Kansas died Sunday July 16, 2023 at Atchison Senior Village Nursing Center.

Graveside services will be Sunday July 23, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Russ Cooper officiating. Memorials are suggested to Atchison Hospice and may be left in care of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with whom final arrangements have been entrusted to.

Norma was born March 24, 1925 in Norwich, Connecticut the daughter of David K. and Evelyn Marie Pooler Lyon. She attended school at Broadway Grammer School and graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1942.

She and Frederick A. Auchenpaugh were united in marriage on June 3, 1999 in Las Vegas, Nevada. &nbsp;Mr. Auchenpaugh preceded her in death in 2004.

Norma was employed as a secretary in the quality assurance department for United Nuclear in Norwich, Connecticut for ten years.&nbsp;

Norma was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atchison and was known as the “hat lady” in and around Atchison, she was an avid baker and shared her favorite homemade treats with many friends.

Survivors include a son-in-law, Don Creighton, Valparaiso, IN. and special loved ones in Atchison, Gene Ross, Atchison, KS; Tracey Elias, Atchison, KS; Peggy Scholz, Atchison, KS; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Norma was preceded in death by a daughter, Lesley Creighton.

Jalalia "Joann" Owens 53, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2023 at her home.  She was born July 14, 1970 in St. Joseph, Missouri. 

She attended Lafayette High School. She was a Homemaker. She enjoyed going to the boat, attending Hillcrest Bible Church with her grandmother, and gardening. 

Joann was preceded in death by her mother, Jeannene Rose Pontius, and husband, Ernie Owens. 

She is survived by maternal grandmother, Wilma Nadine Miller, sons, Timmy, James (Cortney), Michael Miller, and Rex Griggs (Heidi Tarwater) all of St. Joseph, MO, step sons: Jonathon Owens and Jaron Langley, six grandchildren, a brother, Ludwig (Ladonna) Halamar of St. Joseph, MO, and five nieces and a nephew.

Rhonda Ann Sample 62 years young, King City, Missouri, earned her wings and flew to heaven meeting family and friends on Thursday, July 13, 2023. Born on May 5th, 1961, in Camp LeJeune, Jacksonville, NC. Daughter of the late Phyllis and Gary Mollus, Rhonda and her family traveled to several military bases during her youth, eventually settling back in the family hometown, St. Joseph. 

She attended Benton High School, and was awarded R.O.T.C Queen. At 16 years old, Rhonda met the love of her life, Truman Sample. They remained together until her passing. In 1981, Rhonda and Truman had a son, Ryan. In 1982, they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. While in Las Vegas, Rhonda was a Keno Supervisor at Circus Circus Casino, a job she enjoyed since she loved numbers. On November 10, 1983, Rhonda wed Truman, and in 1984, they gave birth to a daughter, Sabrina. The family shared many great times in Las Vegas. Rhonda loved taking trips to Lake Mead, and man could she ski. In December of 1992, Rhonda and Truman bought a house and some land in King City, Missouri, and made that their family home. Rhonda was a hard worker. 

While in King City she worked at McCrea's Grocery, King City School, King City Post Office, had her own cleaning business, and helped Truman with their car wash and shop. Rhonda had several hobbies from music, "Boston" was her favorite band, singing karaoke, crafting, puzzles, watching "Wheel of Fortune", and Westerns with Truman, she also enjoyed "Hot Rods", and taking cruises in some of Truman's. She was also and avid "Chiefs" fan. What Rhonda enjoyed the most was spending time with her grandkids. Whether it was playing games, watching shows, or cheering them on in sports, they meant everything to their "Nanny." 

Rhonda was proceeded in death by parents, Gary and Phyllis Mollus, brother, Richard Mollus, and sister, Brenda Mollus. 

Survivors include: husband, Truman Sample, of the home, daughter, Sabrina Parker (Robin), son, Ryan Sample, both of King City, step daughter, Jennifer Nolan of St. Joseph, six grandchildren, Tenley and Taylen, Ryder, Hudsyn, and Jagger, all of King City, and Alyssa Hinkle of St. Joseph. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Mollus, of King City.

 A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.

William "Bill" Simpson 73, of St Joseph, MO, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 at his home. He was born October 15, 1949 in Mercer County, MO, son of Betty and John Simpson. 

He graduated from Chillicothe High School, class of 1968, and from UMKC with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting. Bill married Susan Storms on December 31, 1996 St. Joseph. He served in the Army, and he is a veteran of the Vietnam War. Bill worked as a CPA in the St. Joseph area for over 40 years. His hobbies included hunting and traveling. He was a former member of AICPA and NSA. 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Nancy O'Rear and Telpha Heuman. 

Survivors include: his wife, Susan Simpson of the home, children, Becky (Kori) Martin of Raymore, MO, Michael Simpson of Kansas City, MO, and Meaghan Simpson of St. Joseph, step-children, Steve (Cathy) Peterman of St. Joseph, Michelle Peterman of St. Joseph, Jerry (Dina) Bascue of Gower, MO, and Tammy Bascue of St. Joseph, brothers, Benny, Randy, and Alan Simpson, and a sister, Nila Horne, 9 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

William Glen Simpson 1949 - 2023

Mark Douglas Chinski Sr. entered into eternal rest on July 15, 2023 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was born&nbsp;on November 27, 1958 in Joliet, Illinois to his parents Steven Douglas and Betty (Stogsdill) Chinski and&nbsp;grew up in Braidwood, Illinois.

Among many accomplishments, Mark served 7 years in the US Army, earned his Bachelor’s degree from&nbsp;the University of Illinois Chicago, and was a published author. His adventurous spirit enabled him to&nbsp;embark on several career paths that included soldier, laboratory technician, software code writer and&nbsp; truck driver.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Mark loved the great outdoors and regularly went camping and fishing. His hobbies included coin collecting, woodworking, and all things tech related. His greatest joy was sharing his&nbsp;knowledge of the Bible. When Mark was 17 years old, he had a life changing encounter with Jesus Christ&nbsp;sparking his lifelong passion for the Word of God and Bible doctrine.

Mark is survived by his sons Mark Chinski jr. and David Chinski, his mother Betty (Stogsdill) Wood, his&nbsp;stepmother Jan Chinski, his brother Steve A. Chinski, his sisters Michele Ball, Erica Myscofski, and Erin&nbsp;Callaway, his brothers- in- law Joe Myscofski and Jack Callaway, and his ex-wife Jessica Chinski.

Mark is now reunited with his father Steven Chinski, his stepfather Melbert Landers, his brother-in-law&nbsp;Densel Ball II, his paternal grandparents Matthew and Madeline Chinski, and his maternal grandparents&nbsp;Albert and Bertha Stogsdill.

A funeral service will be held Monday, July 24, 2023 at 9:30 AM at Riverside Baptist Church in St. Joseph,&nbsp;Missouri. Stephen McVey, 67, of Grovespring, MO passed away July 13, 2023.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father Myrtle and Frank McVey. He is also preceded in death by two brothers Patrick and Frank.

He is survived by his love, Lois Payne. Also, by his daughter Shari, and six siblings, Debbie, Kathy (Bruce), Mary, Paul (Michelle), Bill (Barb), and Janet (Mark).

Stephen McVey 1956 - 2023

Gary Lee Lewis, 81, passed away on July 15, 2023, in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was born on January 31, 1942, in Stanberry, Missouri, to Garold and Elma (Beard) Lewis.

Gary was a proud graduate of Lafayette High School, class of 1960. His sense of duty and patriotism led him to serve in the Army during the Vietnam War, where he earned a Vietnam service medal for his bravery and dedication. After his military service, Gary embarked on a successful career as a truck driver for Hillyard, where he worked for 25 years until his retirement.

Gary was an avid bowler and fisherman. He was a loyal fan of Nascar and enjoyed watching the races. His retirement years were filled with joyous road trips and breakfast gatherings with his "trucking buddies". He was incredibly proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to brag about their accomplishments.

Gary was a man of courage, having faced the challenges of life and war with unwavering strength. His loving nature was evident in his devotion to his family and his kindness towards others. His laughter and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Amy Seek, and brothers-in-law, Danny McCue and Milt Berger.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathleen; their daughters, Natalie Sisk and Yvette “Fred” Snapp; his sister, Sharon Berger; his cherished grandchildren, Kelsee Seek, Shelby (Adam) Fletchall, Kylynn Sisk, Samantha (Donnie) Bowlin, Cole Snapp, and Karlee Seek. Gary was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, and he leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was born on February 10, 1924, in Fayette, Missouri to Everett and Wilma (Rich) Slagle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Ralph Dougherty, Sr.

Survivors include her sons, Curt, Doug and Scott, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and lifelong friends, Steve and Pat Carson.

Sarah Louise Dougherty 1924 - 2023

Helen Kay Rudder Hasenohr, age 71, of Hiawatha, Kan., passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023 – surrounded by her family – after a short battle with cancer.

She went by Kay – or Katie occasionally from her parents and siblings – was born Aug. 2, 1951 to James Clifford Rudder, Jr. and Lois Aldine Harvey Rudder. She was the middle child out of three girls and earned the distinction of being the first brown-eyed baby born at Hiawatha Community Hospital, which had just opened in May.&nbsp;

They lived in Padonia, where Kay attended the one-room Padonia schoolhouse until the end of third grade. She skipped fourth grade as the schoolhouse closed and she and one other student were transferred to Reserve for fifth grade. She graduated with the 1968 Class of Hiawatha High School.

Kay married James Ellis and the couple had a daughter, Joey, born in 1971. They later divorced. She married Larry Hasenohr and the couple had a son, Liberty Beau, born in 1977. Their family lived in Hiawatha and then Baker for a short time before moving to Winfield then Arkansas City for Larry to attend drafting school. Following his schooling, the family relocated to Emporia for 2 years and then a farm at Admire. Larry and Kay later divorced and she returned to Hiawatha to help care for her ailing father until his death in 1998, then continued to live with her mother at their Padonia homestead until they moved into Hiawatha in 2010. Her mother passed in 2016 and Kay continued to live in her Hiawatha home with her many pets.

Kay worked a variety of jobs during her life. She was employed several different times at the Hiawatha Daily World over a span of 50 years. Kay even created her own newspaper “The Guardian,” where she wrote about local news and included editorials - distributing locally for about a year. Kay also spent 13 years as a dispatcher at the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, before retiring at age 63. Kay came out of retirement to work one last time at the Hiawatha World as a part-time front office administrator until she finally retired a couple years later to stay at home with her “doggies.”

Kay was a huge animal lover and never had a moment where she didn’t have a dog, a cat – or several of each. She spent many years working at and volunteering with the Brown County Humane Society and also fostered and adopted several dogs. At one point she was caring for 15 foster dogs in a series of pens she had put up herself at Padonia, while she helped the Humane Society work to find them homes.

Among Kay’s hobbies and great loves were fishing and hunting with her Daddy as a youngster, her “critters” as she called her dogs and cats, mellow classic rock and blues music, watching true crime shows, writing and woodworking along with other arts and crafts. She spent hours upon hours woodburning and creating beautiful artwork for her family and for gifts over the years. Above all else, Kay’s family mattered most to her and she never left a conversation without saying “I love you!”

Kay is survived by a daughter Joey May (Jeff) and son Beau Hasenohr (Kimberly) – both of Hiawatha; two sisters – Lois Arnold and Janet Clearwater (Scott) – both of Topeka; grandchildren Joshua May (Lindsey), Josey May, Austin Hasenohr, Arillyn Kimmi, Aizlynn Kimmi, Ashlynn Hasenohr and Leighton Hasenohr; cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law Bobby Arnold.

Helen Kay Rudder Hasenohr, age 71, of Hiawatha, Kan., passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023 – surrounded by her family – after a short battle with cancer.She went by Kay – or Katie occasionally from her parents and siblings – was born Aug. 2, 1951 to James Clifford Rudder, Jr. and Lois Aldine Harvey Rudder. She was the middle child out of three girls and earned the distinction of being the first brown-eyed baby born at Hiawatha Community Hospital, which had just opened in May.&nbsp;They lived in Padonia, where Kay attended the one-room Padonia schoolhouse until the end of third grade. She skipped fourth grade as the schoolhouse closed and she and one other student were transferred to Reserve for fifth grade. She graduated with the 1968 Class of Hiawatha High School.Kay married James Ellis and the couple had a daughter, Joey, born in 1971. They later divorced. She married Larry Hasenohr and the couple had a son, Liberty Beau, born in 1977. Their family lived in Hiawatha and then Baker for a short time before moving to Winfield then Arkansas City for Larry to attend drafting school. Following his schooling, the family relocated to Emporia for 2 years and then a farm at Admire. Larry and Kay later divorced and she returned to Hiawatha to help care for her ailing father until his death in 1998, then continued to live with her mother at their Padonia homestead until they moved into Hiawatha in 2010. Her mother passed in 2016 and Kay continued to live in her Hiawatha home with her many pets.Kay worked a variety of jobs during her life. She was employed several different times at the Hiawatha Daily World over a span of 50 years. Charles David Spease, 78, of Plattsburg, MO passed away on July 15, 2023.

He was born on October 1, 1944 to Donald E. and Mary Rose (Alliett) Spease in Kansas City, MO. Chuck grew up near Gower and graduated from Gower High School. He then served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

On August 16, 1964 he was united in marriage to Michele Marie “Mick” Garringer. After their marriage they lived south of Gower. In 1986 they moved to Plattsburg where they owned Tiques and Stuff Antique Shop. His wife, Mick, passed away on August 30, 2009.

Chuck was a member of Community of Christ in Smithville. He will be remembered for his giving spirit and orneriness.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Donald Spease and Willard Spease.

Chuck is survived by his son, Tim (Edie) Spease; daughter Wendy Spease; grandchildren, Larry Giglio, Phoebe Giglio, Blake (Maria) Spease, Tori (Jacob) Foster and Kaitlin (Joe) Bonavia; great-grandchildren, Brauzie, Freya, August, Kairi, Josie, Liam, Charleigh, and Presley; sisters-in-law, Janice Spease and Susan Davis; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Jerome H. Wolters, 88 years old, of Atchison, Kansas died Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Medicalodge of Atchison.

Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Church with Rev. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as celebrant. A parish rosary will begin at 9:45 a.m. at the church on Thursday, with visitation to follow. Memorials may be made to St. Benedict Catholic School (SBCS) or Maur Hill-Mt. Acadmey (MHMA) and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.&nbsp;

Jerome was born August 14, 1934, in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Henry and Helen “Nellie” (Fuhrman) Wolters. &nbsp;He attended school in Atchison, graduating from Maur Hill Prep in 1952.

Jerome proudly served his country with the United States Navy from February 9, 1953, until his honorable discharge on February 8, 1957.

He and Judy M. Vanderweide were united in marriage on February 3, 1962, at St. Joseph Church in Atchison. As they raised their kids, Jerome had many enjoyable times with his family, especially trips to the Lake of the Ozarks and the sand dunes with his children and grandchildren.&nbsp;

Jerome was a heavy equipment operator and a member of the Operating Engineers Local 101. He was a hard worker his entire life and could operate or build just about anything, even with refurbished materials.&nbsp;

He was a member of St. Benedict Parish in Atchison, the Sacred Heart Council 723 of Knights of Columbus and a member of William T. Jochems Assembly #1716 Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He truly enjoyed the KoC and the social aspect and playing cards – he did not like to lose either! Jerome was even known to be the life of the party at times.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Judy Wolters; a daughter, Susan (John) Schlag, Linwood, KS; three sons, Timothy (Kirsten) Wolters, Denver, CO; Scott (Shelly) Wolters, Peculiar, MO; Andrew (Angela) Wolters, Platte City, MO; a brother, John Wolters, Midwest City, OK; three sisters, Mary Margaret Church, Atchison, KS; Judy Zachary, Omaha, NE; Jane (Frank) Enzbrenner, Owasso, OK; thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

On July 14th, 2023, Jerry peacefully departed this world, surrounded by his loving family and supported by the compassionate care of Mosaic Hospice at the age of 82. Jerry was an active member of the First Christian Church, which held a special place in his heart.

Jerry's life journey began on May 6th, 1941, when he was born to Dalphon (DL) and Clara (Kamler) Golden in Kansas City, Missouri. During his early years, his family relocated to a farm in rural Savannah, Missouri. Jerry excelled academically, graduating from Savannah High School in 1959. He went on to pursue higher education at Tarkio College in Tarkio, Missouri, where he not only showcased his athletic talents as the center for the Owl's football team but also earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a specialization in social sciences and physical education. In 1965, Jerry graduated and wasted no time in signing a contract with the Savannah School District, beginning his teaching career with a remarkable annual salary of $2,800.00. Jerry often fondly recalled how he and his wife believed they were living a life of luxury!

During his college days, love entered Jerry's life when he met Jane Zahnd at the Northside café in Savannah. Following the conclusion of the football season in 1961, Jerry and Jane fearlessly embarked on their journey together, exchanging vows on December 27th, 1961, even in the face of a powerful winter storm. Jerry and Jane were blessed with four children: Danette (Tim) Hanson from Des Moines, Iowa; Kelly (Mark) Baines from Denver, Colorado; Pat (Trena) Golden from Colony, Kansas; and Tracy (Jeff) Osborn from Stanberry, Missouri.

Jerry's commitment to learning led him to earn a Master's Degree and a Specialist in Education Degree in Secondary Administration from Northwest Missouri State University. Spanning over three decades, he dedicated his time to teaching and coaching various sports at the high school level, including football, boys' track, girls' and boys' basketball, softball, and volleyball. In the later years of his career, Jerry served as a high school principal and superintendent. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he could often be found tending to football fields and ball diamonds, ensuring their upkeep. Even after retiring, Jerry remained actively involved in the sports community, providing coaching advice to his grandchildren and enthusiastically calling the play-by-play from the crow's nest during Stanberry football games.

Retirement granted Jerry the freedom to wholeheartedly pursue his passion for gardening. With his skilled green thumb, he nurtured vibrant strawberry beds, flourishing black raspberry patches, and thriving heirloom tomato crops, while maintaining a meticulous dandelion-free yard. While his family and friends were fortunate to savor the bounty of his harvest, Jerry often held back his treasured black raspberries due to the challenging and occasionally painful process of gathering them. Apart from gardening, Jerry found solace and tranquility as a lifelong fisherman, seeking serenity on the water. Whenever he visited a casino, he was captivated by the thrill and allure of the Buffalo slot machine, enticed by its spinning reels of chance and

excitement. Jerry also cherished his membership in the Big Four Liars Club, where lifelong friendships were formed.

Jerry is preceded in death by his loving and patient wife, Jane, as well as his parents and brother, Gene Golden. He leaves behind a cherished legacy survived by his children and their spouses, sister-in-law Georgia Golden, grandchildren: Sarah (partner Eman Raske-Cochran) and Adrien Hanson, Jessica and Brenna (fiancé Brady Schwan) Baines, Kristen (Blake) Boone, Caitlin (Casey) Callaway, Miranda (Dakota) Sigg, Ryan Golden, Reid (fiancée Becca Goenner) Osborn, and Grant (partner Amy Hoover) Osborn. Furthermore, he is also survived by his adorable great-grandchildren: Rollie, Hudson, Lennie, Rynlee, Adlee Jane, Braven, Jeter, Ryatt, and Alora, as well as four nieces and one nephew.

Carly Ashley Anderson, born on May 9, 2023, in Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2023, being rocked in her mother’s arms with dad by their side at Children's Hospital &amp; Medical Center. Carly's time on earth was filled with love, joy, and the warmth of her family's affection.

From the moment Carly was born, she was a beacon of strength and determination. She had a unique way of doing things, always in her own time and in her own way. Carly was a fighter, showing resilience and courage beyond her tender age.

Carly had a special love for her mobile and pacifier, and a particular fondness for her toy octopus, finding comfort and joy in the simplest of things. Carly loved being held and rocked to sleep in the arms of those who loved her most.

Above all, Carly loved her mom and dad. Their bond was evident in every interaction, every shared smile, every tender touch.

Carly's life, though brief, was filled with moments of joy and love. She touched the lives of those around her in profound ways, leaving a lasting legacy of strength, courage, and love. Carly's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Wyatt Cole Steidel, 11, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023.

He was born December 8, 2011 in St. Joseph to Daniel and LaSeana (Meers) Steidel.

He was a student at St. Francis Elementary School.

Wyatt loved his brothers and cousins more than anything. He was the sweetest child you’d ever meet, with the best smile and most handsome dimples. Wyatt was a very smart child, who had a passion for reading and playing chess. He earned 2nd place in the St. Francis Chess Tournament and also earned awards in the school’s geography and spelling bees.

Wyatt expressed his love for helping others by volunteering at the food kitchen, helping his little brother, helping his mother with cooking and more recently, making cookies on his own.

He enjoyed playing basketball and Connect 4, swimming and fishing. He loved going to Uncle Mike’s.

Wyatt's life may have been brief, but his impact was significant. His remarkable story is a testament to the power of love and positivity. His memory will continue to inspire us to strive, to love, and to be kind for years to come. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Barbie Steidel; MeMe, Barbara Decker; Poppie, David Parker; his great-grandparents, Norman and Shirley Steidel, George Smith, Glen Smith, Ralph and Arlene Leffler.

Mary Ellen Dunning, 72, of St. Joseph, devoted wife and loving Mother, passed&nbsp;away on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at a local health care facility. She was born on&nbsp;March 11, 1951 in Sabetha, KS, the daughter of the late Donald H. and Esther S.Wilson.

Mary Ellen grew up in St. Joseph, and graduated from Central High School in the&nbsp;class of 1969. She took courses at Missouri Western State College, where she&nbsp;studied to become a secretary. After college, she was proud of her time spent&nbsp;working as an executive secretary at the Columbia Union National Bank in Kansas&nbsp;City.

She was an accomplished pianist/organist, and enjoyed many years as a church&nbsp;accompanist. The time she spent making music with her father and her daughter&nbsp;over the years was very special to her.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents.

On May 26, 1972, she married David W. Dunning. They were married 51 years,&nbsp;and he survives at the home.&nbsp;She enjoyed walking, quilting with her friends, and her pets. She was a bright spot&nbsp;in the lives of her family and friends, and loved staying in touch with all of them.

Survivors include her children, Erik (Sandra) Dunning - St. Joseph, and Elizabeth&nbsp;(Rico McNeela) Dunning - Cincinnati, OH, along with many beloved nieces,&nbsp;nephews, and cousins.

The service will be Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Heaton, Bowman, Smith, and&nbsp;Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph. Visitation will be at 11am, with the service to follow at 12pm. There will be a private interment at a later date.

Marie “Maze” Weber, 99, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023.

She was born November 29, 1923 to Leopoldino and Elisa Lopes in Recife, Brazil.

Maze married John J. Weber on August 13, 1951 and were married for 52 years.

She was preceded in death by parents and her husband.

Survivors include her sons, John Weber (Diane) of St. Joseph, Missouri and Robert Weber of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; daughters, Lisa Durkac of West Palm Beach, Florida and Barbara Hanratty of Jeffersonville, New York; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lawrence was born on January 10, 1928, the youngest of four sons of Iven and Ida (Burrier) Miller. After graduating from high school he joined the U.S. Air Force.

Lyndall Arleene Cornelius, 98, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away July 12, 2023. She was born October 25, 1924, the daughter of Guiles and Anna Seiberling. Though she was born in her beloved Iowa, Lyndall spent most of her life on a farm just east of St. Joseph, Missouri, working alongside the love of her life, Bradford Cornelius, whom she married on Feb. 22, 1947. They were married for 68 years before Brad passed away on Oct. 2, 2015.

As a young girl, Lyndall loved her life on her parents’ farm, the youngest of 7 children, spending a lot of time with her pet lambs, pet squirrel and her horse, Daisy, who took her to school in all kinds of weather. She loved the Iowa State Fairs and especially cherished a baby elephant there named Baby Mine, helping to sponsor it along with many other Iowan children. Her love for baking, embroidery, cross-stitching and sewing were nurtured by her beloved mother, Anna. Graduating from high school as the class president and valedictorian of her high school senior class, she went on to support herself and her family during the World War II era during which time her best friend, Shirl, introduced Lyndall to her handsome First Lieutenant cousin, Brad.

Lyndall was a quiet, gentle and kind person, with a spunky spirit, valuing what was most essential in life: her faith and family; loving her nieces and nephews, her children and great-grandchildren; and building a warm and loving home. She helped where she could, volunteering with Mosaic Hospice for 20 years, mentoring several young women, working at the Pregnancy Resource Center, hosting Tuesday afternoon Bible study classes, and always being an empathetic listening ear to whoever needed it.

She leaves behind her son, Dr. James Bradford Cornelius, daughter Kaye and son-in-law Mike Rutter; and daughter, Susan Cornelius; grandchildren, John Mark (Desiree) Rutter, Anna (Brian) Warren, Elizabeth (John Paul) Zenone, Katherine Rutter, James (Marina) Rutter, Grace (Richard) Young, Max (Kristin) Powers and Boyd Powers; and her great-grandchildren, Caleb and Abby Kaye Rutter, Bridget, Jimmy and Jonathan Warren, Alexandria, Kaylee, John Paul, and John Luke Zenone, and Sloane and Mia Powers. She is also leaving behind several beloved nieces and nephews and her faithful cat, Kittle.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brothers, several nieces and nephews and by her husband, Brad.

Terry Ray Eaton, 64, of Maysville, Missouri, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 in Kansas City, Mo. at Saint Luke’s Hospice House.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Turner Family Funeral Home in Maysville. Visitation will be from 10:00 ~ 11:00 a.m.

Terry was born in King City, Missouri to Albert Lamaster and Daisy Juanita (Murphy) Eaton on August 17, 1958. He went to High School in Maysville, and graduated in 1976. Terry worked as a correction officer and also for Peach Tree Door for many years. He enjoyed fishing very much and was a Chief’s Football fan. Terry was a jokester, and he hated politics. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered as a loving dad, brother, and uncle.

Terry is survived by his children, Janesca (Marc) Procter, Heather Eaton, Austin (Theresa) Eaton, brother, Gary (Pat) Eaton, nieces and nephews, Lance, Jim, April, Joy, best friend, Rick McGuire, many other relatives and friends.

Linda L. Weiser, 79, of St. Joseph, MO went to join her husband in passing on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. She was born the middle of three children on December 1, 1943 in St. Joseph to Loretta and Harold Burkart. 

She married her high school sweetheart Richard "Dick" Weiser on August 16, 1963 (her father's birthday) and they shared 56 years together before his passing in 2019. Linda attended Hosea Grade School and graduated from Benton High School, class of 1962. She continued her education at "G's" Beauty University. She then went on to work at Park Plaza Beauty Salon and later purchased the business, where she worked for 20 years. She then joined her husband and business partner at Vend-America, then Riverside Concession at Civic Arena and later Weiser's Family Cleaner's and Hodson's Cleaner's with their son, Rick later joining as a business partner. &nbsp;Linda retired in 2006, to stay home and help care for her 3rd grandchild, Kendall.&nbsp;

She was an avid reader and her favorite hobby was making baby quilts. She gave them to grandchildren, nieces, nephews, co-workers and friends and donated some to silent auctions for charity. She loved meeting with her high school friends Karen, Gail, Becky, Carol Sue, Marilyn and Diane for their monthly dinner which they referred to as "Ladies of the Round Table". She also loved watching her granddaughter Kendall dance in competitions and recitals.&nbsp;

Linda was preceded in death by husband, Dick Weiser, her parents, sister, Sandy Noeth and brother, Harry Otis Harvey. 

Survivors include sons, Rick (Amy) Weiser of St. Joseph and Jeff (Karen) Weiser of Bothell, WA, 3 grandchildren, Erica (Scott) Adams, Kyle Weiser, and Kendall Weiser, great-grandson, Elliott Adams, nephew, Tyson (Libby) Noeth, nieces Stephanie Clark and Tricia (Denny) Butler, sister-in-law Judy (Dave) Heinjer, brother-in-law Tom (Sherry) Noeth, her aunt Madolyn Marshall and many cousins. She will also be missed by her surrogate granddaughters, Sophie and Isabell Butler.

As to Linda's wishes, there will be no visitation or service at this time. She will be cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home and Inurned next to her husband at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ruth Kathman, 90, passed away July 11, 2023 at Gower Convalescent Center. Ruth was born in Omaha, NE on December 10, 1932.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Armstrong and Pearl White, brother Russell Armstong, husband and love of her life, Raymond Kathman, son Danny Kathman, daughter Sharon Kathman, and grandson SSG Christopher Swisher. She is survived by son Bernie Kathman, daughters Kathi Kathman-Smith (Roger), Jean Donaldson (Mark), sister Joanne, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Ruth was a homemaker and volunteered as a room mother for her kids' elementary school classes every year. The descriptive word that most often comes up for her is "stubborn." It's true. She was as stubborn as they come. Sweet is another word we hear a lot. She was also friendly, thoughtful, and generous in every way. She was an excellent cook and baker and nobody left her home hungry. She loved to travel and watch birds, especially hummingbirds. She loved to read. She enjoyed going to casinos, where she was usually quite lucky on the slots and always donated a percentage of every win. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, and chatting with everyone she met. As she said often, she loved life, and she had a good one. She will be missed.

Ruth was cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel. A private inurnment will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cherokee Village, Arkansas at a &nbsp;later date.

She was also friendly, thoughtful, and generous in every way. She was an excellent cook and baker and nobody left her home hungry. She loved to travel and watch birds, especially hummingbirds. She loved to read. She enjoyed going to casinos, where she was usually quite lucky on the slots and always donated a percentage of every win. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, and chatting with everyone she met. As she said often, she loved life, and she had a good one. She will be missed.Ruth was cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel. A private inurnment will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cherokee Village, Arkansas at a &nbsp;later date.<figure>

Kristi Cireace Bradshaw, 61, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023.

She was born July 13, 1961 to John M. and Beverly A. (Ridinger) Bradshaw in Kansas City, Missouri.

Kristi enjoyed going to concerts, watching crime shows, crafting and arranging flowers. She was a Kansas City Chiefs, Sammy Hagar and Nascar fan. She also loved spending time with her granddaughter and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Kyle Blentlinger.

Survivors include her daughter, RayAnn Bradshaw of St. Joseph, Missouri; granddaughter, Kylee Bradshaw; sisters, Brenda Peters of Kansas City, Missouri, Mary Bradshaw-Tredway and Johny Bradshaw of Trenton, Missouri, Janet Herr (Mike) of Savannah, Missouri, Lori Walker of Kansas City, Kansas; niece, Kassie Peters (Jordan May); nephews, Cameron Peters and Jesse Herr; and great-nephew, Jaydan May.

Charline Kessler, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on July 11, 2023. She was born on September 4, 1940, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Charles Edward and Frances Marie (Bryan) Baird.

Charline was a graduate of the Convent of the Sacred Heart. After her education, she dedicated her life to her family, becoming a homemaker and providing a warm, loving environment for her husband and children.

She found joy in ceramics, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her artistic talent. She also had a green thumb, spending countless hours landscaping her yard. Charline was known for her love of games, particularly bingo, and she never missed an opportunity to try her luck with a lottery ticket. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

A woman of deep Catholic faith, Charline was a devoted member of the St. Joseph Cathedral Church. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, providing her with strength and comfort. She was a beacon of light to those around her, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word. Her faith-filled life was an inspiration to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and great-grandson, Evan Michael.

Charline is survived by her loving husband, Robert, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage after their union on July 22, 1957. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children, Cathy Long (Dan) and Debbie Kempf (Chuck); her grandchildren, Robert Long, Patricia Walls, Jennifer McLaughlin, and Charles Kempf, and her great-grandchildren, Ethan Long, Ava Long, Emma Long, Emilia McLaughlin, Kessler Walls, and Italia Walls.

Lawrence E. “Larry” Smith, III, 77, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023.

He was born February 16, 1946 in El Centro, California, to Lawrence E. Smith, II and Jacqueline (LaBarge) Smith.

Larry proudly served his country for 25 years in the U.S. Army, seeing duty in Vietnam, Panama and Grenada among many other places. After retiring from the military, he taught various courses at ITT for 10 years.

Larry married Deborah Lynne Harding in 1991.
