Betty Bechtold 81, of Troy, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024 in St. Joseph, MO. She was born July 1, 1943 in St. Joseph, daughter of the late Wilma and Asa Mace.
She worked on a Sod Farm and as a beautician, but most notably, she worked in healthcare. She enjoyed crocheting & knitting, working on puzzles, reading books, and cooking & canning. Betty loved football, especially the Nebraska Corn Huskers and KC Chiefs! She was all about her politics, if you were at her house, CNN was what you were watching. Most of all Betty loved her kids, grandbabies, and dogs.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John "Mickey" Michael Bechtold Jr., daughter, Julie Ann Thomsen, sons, Donald W. Cottrill, Emmett Cottrill, and Clifford Zorn, brother, Billy "Bae" Mace, and sisters, Jackie Saville, and Carol Whetstien.
Survivors include: daughter, Johnna (Mike) Norris of Saint Joseph, MO, son, Johnny Staley, brother, Leon Mace, 13 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday at Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream; 7:00 pm, Friday, October 4, 2024 at Rupp Funeral Home, Inurnment will be at Odd Fellows Public Cemetery.
