Stacie L. Tinney 54 of Plattsburg Missouri died Monday June 12, 2023, at her residence. Born on June 15, 1968, in Houston Texas to Hughey and Annette (Means) Thrash. She married Lynn Tinney on October 27, 1989. Together they owned and operated Tinney Automotive in Plattsburg. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Shawn Thrash and her brother Michael Thrash. &nbsp;

Survivors include her husband Lynn of the home; daughter Jessica Thrash of Plattsburg Missouri; Son William (Michelle Brown) Thrash of Stewartsville Missouri; 6 grandchildren, her sister Dannette (Paul) Hawkins, one niece and one nephew; and her best friend Paula Sue Cregger. &nbsp;

Charlotte Stringham, 84, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023.

She was born January 2, 1939 in Newman, Illinois. Charlotte married Robert Lee Stringham in 1959. He preceded her in death in 1996.

Charlotte was a really good cook and a wonderful mother. She enjoyed gathering the family at her house for holiday dinners.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son, Andrew Stringham; her parents; and two brothers.

Survivors include her children, Richard Adams, Randy Stringham, and Dorthy Chauncey; numerous grandchildren, including Bobby and Brandy Stringham, whom she raised as her own; several great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her beloved dogs, Callie and Sadie.

Sherry Jean Howe Byrd of Leavenworth passed away June 11,2023 at the Olathe Hospice House, Olathe Kansas. After 9 years she lost her courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 12,1967 in Manhattan Kansas. 

She attended Riley County Schools in Riley Kansas and graduated 1985. At the age of 5 she started taking piano lessons. She also learned to play the guitar, clarinet and saxophone in her youth. At the age of 16 she began to teach piano lessons to local students. Sherry taught piano lessons for 29 years. In December1998 she graduated from Kansas State University with a teaching degree. As a member of the Kansas State marching band, she played saxophone for 2 years. 

She started teaching at the Leavenworth School District West middle school, teaching sixth grade science classes. On one occasion she spoke with John Glenn the astronaut, and with his assistance linked her class to the International space station to communicate with the astronauts. She had a profound ability to connect with her students and share her love of science. She helped organize summer classes and curriculum in the district. 

She continued her membership with the Riley Presbyterian church in Riley Kansas. Sherry married James "Jim" Byrd on March 18, 2005. Sherry was loved and loved her family. She was a wonderful, kind and loving person and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. 

She leaves behind her husband Jim and parents Gene and Sharon Howe, a brother Scott (Rose) Howe all of Riley, Kansas. Two nephews Lane (Maddie) Howe of Leonardville and Wyatt (Vannah) Howe of Riley. Two nieces Kori Howe of Manhattan and Miah Howe of Courtland. She has three great nieces Aubrey Brazzle, Poppy Howe and Ava Howe. She also is survived by two stepdaughter Angie Byrd &amp; Crystal Pultz and one step granddaughter Brittany Pultz of Leavenworth. Along with two step grandsons Michael and Brandon of Leavenworth. Two step great-grandsons Da'Marius Horton and Kohan Pultz and one step great-granddaughter Lilly

Schrita J. Fink, 73, of Hoyt, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023 at home. She was born October 3, 1949 at Wamego, the daughter of Karl and Ella Hasenbank Fink.&nbsp;

Schrita did janitorial work at different schools, including Royal Valley. She later worked at Payless Shoe Source in warehouse inventory control. She was a hard worker and had built her own home in which she lived for fifty years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Sylvia Spangler, and a brother, Steven Fink.

Survivors include two sisters, Shelia Murray, Hoyt, Sonya Bergman (Gene), Mayetta, two nephews, Carl Correll (Renee) and Bill Correll (Susan), and two nieces, Pam Moseley (Mike) and Suzy McCord (Jason).&nbsp;

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 17th at the Hoyt United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Steward Cemetery, east of Hoyt. No other calling hours or visitation is planned. Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt is in charge of arrangements.

Norma Jeanneret, 101, of Onaga, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023, at the Eastridge Nursing Facility in Centralia. &nbsp;

She was born June 18, 1921, southwest of Onaga, the daughter of George and Marie Savago Graf. She attended Onaga Grade School and graduated from Onaga High School in 1939. &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Norma worked at the Pyramid Garment Factory in Onaga for twenty-six years. She was a true farm wife, caring for the home and children, helping with outside farm chores, raising a large garden, and preserving produce for the winter. She was an excellent bread maker and will be remembered by her family and friends for her delicious “long johns”. She was also an accomplished seamstress, making much of the family’s clothing.

She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church at Coal Creek until it closed in 1972, where she served as President of the Altar Society. Since then, she has been a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Onaga. She was also a member of the Onaga Historical Society from 1993 to 2002, and served as secretary for many of those years. She was a member and former President of the Auxiliary at Community Hospital Onaga and a volunteer coordinator for the Hospital Gift Shop.

Norma enjoyed genealogy, reading, keeping up with current events, and working Sudoku and other puzzles. She sent many notes and greeting cards to friends and neighbors. Her grandchildren always received a birthday card with a $2.00 bill in it.

She was devoted to her family and enjoyed her grandchildren’s activities. She clipped newspaper articles of their accomplishments and put them in scrapbooks, along with their school photos.

Norma married Wilbur S. Jeanneret on June 28, 1939 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Wheaton. After their marriage they rented and farmed farmland. &nbsp;In 1947 they bought a farm home and acreage eight miles north of Onaga in the Coal Creek Community. After raising their family they enjoyed traveling in their R.V. throughout the U.S. They also traveled outside the country to Switzerland, The Holy Land, the Philippines and Hawaii. &nbsp;Wilbur preceded her in death on July 3, 2011 after seventy-two years of marriage. After his passing, Norma remained on the farm until 2019, when she moved to Redbud Assisted Living in Onaga. In April of 2022 she moved to the care home at Centralia. &nbsp;

Norma was also preceded in death by three sons, Gerald and James Jeanneret, twins who died at birth, and Greg Jeanneret, a son-in-law, Elmer Suther, a daughter-in-law, Janet Jeanneret, a brother, Kenny Graf, and two sisters, Rose Marie Allen and Mary Frances Ard.

Survivors include three sons, Doug Jeanneret (Linda), Onaga, Kent Jeanneret, CMSgt (Ret AF), (Linda), New Baden, IL and Mark Jeanneret (Kathy), Topeka, two daughters, Sonja Suther, Seneca and Janet Hunsaker (Bill), Arvada, CO, twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 19th at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Onaga. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery at Coal Creek. Norma will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga. A Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church, followed by visitation until 5:00 p.m.

Gary Lee Ladner passed away unexpectedly on June 12, 2023 at the age of 82. &nbsp;He was born June 5, 1941, son of Leo Lester and Fern Marie Wienstroer Ladner, at the family farm near Duluth, Kansas. He attended grade school at Pleasant Hill and graduated in 1959 from Onaga High School. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1964 with a degree in Feed Technology. He married Lynda S. Falk, September 20, 1963.

He loved his work starting with Swift and Co. and then spending 29 years with Ralston Purina Company. His job required many moves throughout the middle of the United States. After retirement, he spent many volunteer hours with the Lago Vista Lions Club, as Director, Chairman of the Golf Tournament, Finance Committee, Boat Raffle, Recycle Committee, and many fundraisers for the club. He was Lion of the Year and a Melvin Jones Fellow.

He is survived by his wife, Lynda, two children, Jimmy (Dana) Ladner, and Penny (Donny) Gilliam, grandsons, James, fiancé Kylie, Andrew and Trent Ladner and Brennan Bohlen, four step grandchildren, T.J. Minihan, fiancé Lindsey and BrookeLynn, and spouse Matt Fronczak, Arielle and Aydan Gilliam, one great-grand daughter; his brother Dave Ladner and sister Mary Lou Ladner, sister-in law, Phyllis Ladner and numerous nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Fern Ladner and his brother Charles Ladner and his sisters-in-law, Gay Ladner and Darlene Murray.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 16th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga, Kansas. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15th at the funeral home. Larry Dean "Crazy Larry" Obrien, 79, of Preston, Nebraska, died unexpectedly at his home Monday afternoon, June 12, 2023 with family by his side.

David "Davey" Cassity Jr. 70, of St Joseph, MO, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at a local health care center. He was born May 6, 1953 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Gladys and David Cassity. 

He worked several years as a dishwasher. 

David was preceded in death by mother and step-father, Gladys and Alvin Walls, and father, David Lee Cassity, Sr. 

Survivors include: sister, Linda (Jerry) Shafer of Utica, MO and Pam (Bill) Adams of St. Joseph, MO, and &nbsp;brother, Michael Cassity of St. Joseph.

Mr. Cassity has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. An Inurnment will be at the Turner Cemetery, Wallace, MO at a later date.

Leatha Linder “Kitty”, 68, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023, at Mosaic Life Care.

She was born in St. Joseph, Missouri to John and Juanita (Williams) Linder on September 21, 1954.

She was an employee of the St. Joseph News Press for over 30 years, where everyone remembered her for her kindness, dedication and strong work ethic.

Outside of work, Leatha enjoyed playing bingo, going for drives through the park with her dog, Tiny, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Leatha was a country music fan, and lovingly remembered as “stubborn and sassy” by her daughter, Brandi.

Leatha possessed a loving and kind spirit, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Juanita Linder; her sisters, Barbara Morgan, Sondra Linder, and Linda Linder; her brothers, Bill Linder and Leslie “Bud” Linder; and her nephew, Roger Linder.

Survivors include her significant other, Jerry Dennison; her children, Brandi Linder and John Linder (Crystal); grandchildren, Jace Linder, Dayton Linder, Gavin Linder and Nevaeh Linder; brothers, Roger Linder (Margaret), Danny Linder (Laura) and Perry Linder (Paula); and several nieces and nephews.

Leatha Linder “Kitty”, 68, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023, at Mosaic Life Care.She was born in St. Joseph, Missouri to John and Juanita (Williams) Linder on September 21, 1954.She was an employee of the St. Joseph News Press for over 30 years, where everyone remembered her for her kindness, dedication and strong work ethic.Outside of work, Leatha enjoyed playing bingo, going for drives through the park with her dog, Tiny, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Nancy Ann (Francis) Blenden, 64, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, June 9, 2023 at her home. She was born April 18, 1959 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Adrienne and Herbert Francis.

 She graduated from Bishop LeBlond High School, class of 1977. Nancy had last worked for the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce as a Secretary. She loved visiting with her friends and taking care of others, working word search puzzles, and her game shows. She also enjoyed spending time being outdoors, especially tending to her flowers and plants, and listening to music while dancing. 

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, and brother-in-law, Bill Clinton.

James H. Hardin, 84, of St Joseph, MO, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. He was born December 16, 1938 in St. Joseph, son of Alma and James Hardin. 

Jim was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a Baker for Wonderbread, retiring after 30 years. He enjoyed camping and traveling, going to casinos, playing poker and bingo. 

James was preceded in death by his parents, son, Terry Hardin, brothers, Norman Hardin and Waymer "Junior" Hardin, sisters, Wilma Mininger and Ella Blacketer, and his former wife, Burtona (Peoples) Hardin. 

Survivors include: daughters, Lori (Matt) Cooper of St Joseph, Karen (Jeff) McKinney of Rochester, NH, Lisa (Lonnie) Downs of Berwick, ME, son, Kris Hardin of St. Joseph, his companion of 23 years, Shirley Vaughn of St. Joseph, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John William Munshaw 74, of Oregon, MO, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 11, 2023 in a Wathena, KS health care center. He was born August 16, 1948 in Seatle, WA, son of the late Ruby and Joseph Munshaw. 

He graduated from South Nodaway High School, and he attended Northwest Missouri State University. He married Joyce Mortell on June 11, 1986, and she survives of the home. John worked at KC Carpenter Union as a Millrite.  He enjoyed traveling, going to Yellowstone, camping, fishing, and hanging out with his family. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 grandchildren.

Helen K. Walters, a loving, selfless, and kind woman, passed away on June 10, 2023. Born on July 28, 1947, in Stuttgart, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Gregor and Anna Kalamon.

Helen is survived by her devoted husband, Barry W. Walters, her three loving children, Scott Walters, Tasha Gray, and Tanya Walters, and her treasured grandchildren, Bailey Keuck (Quentin), Petra, Candace, Lon, and Lacey Gray, and Samantha Schroeder. She also leaves her cherished great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Aria, Sadie, and Nyjah. Helen is fondly remembered by her siblings, Steve and Mike Kalamon, Olga Smith, and Mary Lindsey. She is preceded in death by her brother, John Kalamon.

A proud member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Helen's faith played a significant role in her life. Her selflessness shone through in her devotion to her family and friends, consistently putting the needs of others before her own.

Helen had a passion for reading, as well as crocheting and knitting. She also loved cooking and baking with her family, creating lasting memories and passing on cherished traditions to future generations.

Helen will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her loving and kind spirit will live on in the many lives she touched throughout her time with us.

Ronald G. Wilson, of Gallatin, Missouri, age 75, passed away on June 10, 2023 after a prolonged stay at Quail Run Health Care Center in Cameron, Missouri.

Ron and his twin brother, Donald, were born February 23, 1948 in St. Joseph, MO, the sons of Joseph M. and Olive June Wilson. Ron attended Benton High School and was a part of the Class of 1965.

Ron had a varied career and held positions in the meatpacking industry, the trucking industry, at Hausman Sheet Metal Works, machine operator at Carnation Pet Foods, but he most enjoyed his 20 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the northwest Missouri area.

Ron was preceded in death by his twin brother and his parents.

Ron is survived by many of his loved ones, including his three children, Michelle Wilson, Michael Wilson, and Melissa Lembke; his two brothers, Dan Wilson and Steve “Red” Wilson; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ron was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Faucett, MO, and the First Christian Church in Gallatin, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Davidson Sr.; her son, John Paul Davidson; and her brother, George Ryan. She is survived by her children: Arthur Davidson Jr. (Angie), and Osey Beaman (Michael); her brother, John Ryan Sr. (Mary), as well as her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Judy J. (Hug) O’Gorman, 80, of Holton, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

She was born January 3, 1943 at Holton, the daughter of Frank and Bertha “Bert” Nott. Judy had lived for forty years at Mayetta, on the farm and later worked for Walmart for twenty-five years.

She attended St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton and Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church in Topeka.

Judy married Patrick Michael O’Gorman on June 28, 1992 in Topeka. &nbsp;He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include four sons, Dean Hug, David Hug, Dwayne Hug and Douglas Hug, a brother, Bill Nott, eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

No services are planned at this time. A register book will be available to sign at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton. Inurnment will be later in the Holton Cemetery.

Judy had lived for forty years at Mayetta, on the farm and later worked for Walmart for twenty-five years.She attended St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton and Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church in Topeka.Judy married Patrick Michael O’Gorman on June 28, 1992 in Topeka. &nbsp;He survives, of the home.Other survivors include four sons, Dean Hug, David Hug, Dwayne Hug and Douglas Hug, a brother, Bill Nott, eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.No services are planned at this time. A register book will be available to sign at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton. Inurnment will be later in the Holton Cemetery.<figure>

Danny Martin Buckler passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, June 6th, 2023, at North Kansas City Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 am on Thursday, June 15th, 2023, at Vaughn’s Funeral Home in Weston, Missouri. A memorial service will immediately follow. The family suggests contributions be given to the West Platte Education Foundation. Danny was born in Burlington, Kentucky on May 2, 1943, to Badger Calvert and Marjorie Helen (Sharp) Buckler. His family moved from Burlington to Dearborn, Missouri and eventually settled in Weston, Missouri. Danny was a 1962 graduate of West Platte High School. Upon graduation, Danny married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lee Gwinn, on June 30, 1962, and joined the U.S. Air Force in July of that same year. Danny served as a jet mechanic from 1962-1966, when he was honorably discharged. After living in Texas and Arkansas during his military service, he moved his family back to Weston, Missouri. Danny started his own company, Danny’s Plumbing, Heating and Cooling, where he was eager to serve his community at a minute's notice. Danny also worked 25 years at De Laval in Kansas City, Missouri, where he worked in maintenance and assembly. Danny was a man of many hobbies and talents. He could fix anything. He coached his daughters and their friends in summer softball, and he was involved in the local Shriners and Jaycee organizations. He traveled, hunted, fished, played poker, and various other sports, but his favorite by far was golf. He spent countless hours and made many friends on the green. Danny left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He never met a stranger and after a short interaction he considered them family. Even in the last months of his life at Benton House, he was the life of the party. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Sherry Wintz, a brother-in-law Bill Wintz, a brother Carol Dell Buckler and a brother-in-law Leslie McNair. She was born on January 5, 1985, in Kansas City, MO. Kelli grew up in Platte County and graduated from West Platte High School in 2003. She was active in softball and basketball.

Kelli received her Medical Assistant and worked for Hillview Nursing Home and did in home health care. She loved music and attending concerts and enjoyed running and fitness. Most of all, she loved being involved in her sons’ sporting activities.&nbsp;

She was an active member of the Rock of KC where she was baptized on Easter of 2022.&nbsp;

Kelli was preceded in death by her grandparents Charles and Mildred Knighton and her step-father Jon Hines.&nbsp;

Gordon Stevenson passed away Dec. 28, 2022, in Palmview, Texas.&nbsp;

Gordon was born in Boyd, Nebraska, on Oct. 30, 1930, to Clifford and Leitha Stevenson. They moved to St. Joseph where he grew up. Gordon graduated from Lafayette High School in St. Joseph in 1948. He joined the Navy right after high school and he served until 1958.

Gordon married Maisie Irene Brumage on June 7, 1958, and they remained married until her death in 2019. They resided for 40 years in Gower, Missouri, where they raised their five boys.

Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Leitha; his brother, Larry; and his wife, Maisie.

He is survived by his five boys, Keith, Jesse, Tim, Larry and Bart; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Maisie Irene (Brumage) Stevenson, 81, passed away July 7, 2019, in McAllen, TX.

She was born in Lumberport, West Virginia, in 1938. She graduated high school in Painesville, Ohio.&nbsp; Maisie served three years in the Navy.

On June 7, 1958, she married Gordon D. Stevenson. They resided in Gower, Missouri, for 40 years before retiring to Mission, Texas, in 2010.While in Gower, Maisie worked at the local supermarket and substitute taught at East Buchanan High School.&nbsp; She was an assistant librarian at the Smithville Public Library in Smithville, Missouri.

Maisie was active in the Mount Moriah United Methodist church.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Francis V. Brumage and Martha (Edgell) Brummage; and three brothers, Fred, Tom and Don Brumage.

She is survived by: her five children: Keith, Jesse, Tim, Larry and Bart; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judith Baston and Virginia Brumage; and one brother, Russel Gould.

Maisie was a kind, and generous person and forgiving to a fault. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Larry LaVerne Heitman, 82, of Plattsburg, MO passed away at Liberty Hospital on Sunday, June 11, 2023.

Larry “Hoot” was born on April 9, 1941, in Charles City, Iowa, the oldest of four children to Alvin LaVerne Heitman and Drusilla Pauline (Johnson) Heitman. Larry’s early years were spent on the Mewes-Heitman Family Farm in Floyd County, Iowa. This is where his education began, in a country school just across the fence.

In February 1952, the family made a permanent move to Missouri- Nevada then Plattsburg. Larry was a 1959 graduate of Plattsburg High School where he excelled in football and basketball. After graduation, he attended Highland Kansas Junior College where he played football and Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville. Hunting and fishing were his favorite pastimes.

In September 1963, he joined the Army Reserves; Control Group St. Louis 1965-1968; June 1968 Active Duty; and spent 15 months at Fort Sill, OK during the Vietnam Conflict. He was discharged in September of 1969. Larry was a member of the John Calhoun Post 97 Plattsburg American Legion.

His employment with General Motors Corporation began November 20, 1961, and he retired in 1993.He was united in marriage on April 28, 1974, to Rita (Lemar) Boyer.

Survivors include daughters, Brenna (Jason) Harris, Smithville, MO and Kendra (Dennis) Clark, Cameron, MO; three grandchildren, Kaden (David) Cheney, Korbin Harris and Kolby Harris; two great-grandchildren, Mason Cheney and Weston Cheney; brothers, Jerome Heitman, Plattsburg, MO and Duane Heitman, St. Charles, MO; and sister, Judy Heitman, Liberty, MO.
