Douglas E. Kowitz, 69 of King City, MO and formerly of Flag Springs, MO for many years, passed away Tuesday, February 4th, 2025 at his home in King City surrounded by loved ones. He was born July 25th, 1955 to Donald & Wanda (Hunsucker) Kowitz. He graduated high school from King City R-1 in 1973. After graduating, he farmed and started working at AGP. He retired from AGP after 44 years on august 2nd 2017. He married the love of his life, Debbie Smith on July 13th, 1983 and she survives of the home.
Doug loved his family fiercely and cherished every moment spent together, especially with his great grandchildren. His life was filled with great memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those he held dear. He was also a passionate hunter and fisherman, a love that kept him outdoors and away from the confines of the house. He had many titles like husband, father, son, friend, but his favorite title was being called “Pappy” since 1994.
Survivors include his mother, wife, daughters, Dixie Mathis of King City and Gail Mathis of St. Joseph; siblings, Gary Kowitz of Flag Springs and Waunita (Rodney) Stephen of Stewartsville, MO; grandchildren, Nikki (Austin) Muff of King City, Dylan Wells of Island City, MO, Felicia Nolan of St. Joseph, Brodhi Ramirez of King City, and Precious Tracy of King City; great-grandchildren, Carter, Kinsley, Casen, Princess, and Beauty. He was preceded in death by his father; grandsons, Dakota and Bodhi; great-great-granddaughter, Miracle; his best friend, Roland Pence.
Visitation and family receiving hours will be 5:00pm-7:00pm Friday, February 7th, 2025 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, MO. Funeral services will be 10:00am Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow services at Flag Springs Cemetery, Flag Springs, MO.
