

Tarleton “Pete” “Nick” Nichols, 79, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 3, 2020.

Pete married Mary Caroline Willis June 12, 1964; she survives of the home.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Pete had been a self-employed contractor, trucker and farmer. He loved animals and rescued many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Forest and Ruby (Tuey) Nichols, several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Caroline; daughter, Christina Rogers (Shawn); son, Walter Nichols (Maggie); grandchildren, Mason, Madison, J. R.; step-grandchildren, Cody, Zarah, Karah; sister, Ginger Dowden; several nieces, nephews, friends and cousins.

William L. “Bill” Garrison, age 72, formerly of Atchison, died peacefully at his home on April 4, 2020, in Basehor, Kansas, due to Agent Orange-related Parkinsonism.

Bill was born on November 22, 1947, in Atchison, KS, to Harold and Dorothy (Reynolds) Garrison. He was raised in Atchison, graduating from Atchison High School in 1966, and attended Highland Community College. In 1967, Bill was drafted to serve in the United States Army, where he fought bravely in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969 and was awarded two Purple Hearts. In 1971, he married Jeri Jeffries and they had two daughters, Amanda and Piper. After the two divorced, he met and married Janet Garrison on May 29, 1993.

Bill had several jobs in his lifetime, but most recently worked as a manufacturer’s representative in the hardware and home improvement industry in the Kansas City area. In 2004, he became involved with Run for the Wall, a cross-country motorcycle event organized to bring awareness and pay tribute to all veterans. Throughout his lifetime, he enjoyed spending time perfecting his swing on the golf course, most recently on the island of Hawaii with his sons-in-law and grandson. He was also a big fan of KU Basketball.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Janet, of the home; his daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda and Jason Drury of Atchison, and Piper and Jason Stahl of Valley Falls, Kansas; grandchildren Caroline, Cameron, and Caitlin Drury, and Dakota TeBeest; a great-granddaughter, Summer Rose TeBeest; his mother, Dorothy Garrison Price, Atchison; his brother, David (Linda) Garrison, Wichita, KS; his sisters, Kathryn Soph, Atchison, Sarah (Doug) Bounds, Leavenworth, KS, and Jane McLain, Edmond, OK; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Zoey. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Garrison; his stepfather, Joseph Price; his brother, Michael Garrison; his brother in law, Greg McLain; and his beloved dogs, Ethel and Lucy.

Dennis Bakeman, St. Joseph, MO passed away April 5, 2020, surrounded by love. 

Born October 9, 1956, in St. Paul, MN, Dennis lived life to the fullest. He loved God, his family and friends, laughter, movies, music, crosswords, and a good round of Jeopardy.

Sober May 16, 2008, he grew in sobriety until his passing ~ his 11-year coin his most prized possession. Samuel L. Jacobson of St. Joseph MO died on March 23, 2020.

Samuel was born August 30, 1941 in Horton Kansas, the youngest of three children born to Irene Reece Jacobson and Thomas Jacobson. He served in the US Army in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1962, at the rank of PFC.

He was preceded in death by parents, his sister Donna Richard, Topeka KS.

&nbsp;He is survived by his sister, Carol Jacobson, Kansas City Missouri, two nephews, Christopher Larson, KCMO, residing in Saudi Arabia, and Jonathan Larson, Joplin Missouri, and by his niece, Laura (Stanley) Hart, Carbondale, Kansas and her two children, Courtney (TeeJay) Hart and Dakota Hart.

Samuel will be buried in the Horton Cemetery.

Gottfried “Mickey” Hirter, 100, Cosby, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 3, 2020.

He was born June 27, 1919 in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Mickey married Margaret Shewmaker April 6, 1946; she survives of the home.

He joined the St. Joseph Gruetli Verein Swiss Society in 1946; he was the oldest and longest serving member.

Mickey served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.

He managed Hirter Brothers Feed Store #2, and later retired from Purolator Courier.

Mickey enjoyed the country life and loved all animals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gottfried and Alice (Schenk) Hirter, Sr.; son, Mike Hirter; brothers, Louis Hirter, Fritz Hirter; sister, Helen Durant; and daughter-in-law, Nickee Hirter.

Survivors include his wife of almost 74 years, Margaret; daughter, Sharon Schultz (Larry); sons, Larry Hirter (Connie, Terry Hirter (Sherry); daughter-in-law, Dawn Hirter; grandchildren, Teri Sanchez (Jerry, Kim Baker (Warren, Randy Schultz (Michele, Damon Hirter, Andrea Allen (Skip, Shelly Lundy (Bruce, Shannon Hirter (Krissy, Aaron Hirter (Heidi, Amy Meyer (Mark); 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-greatgrandchildren, several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Leonard “Austin” Bainter, 70, Country Club, MO, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020 due to complications of COPD.

He was born June 22, 1949 in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Austin married Cathy “Toppy” Craig on July 3, 2012.

He was a graduate of Central High School, where he was a member of the swim team and very active in Student Government.

Austin served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war with honorable discharge.

He enjoyed entertaining and telling stories with his friends. Austin loved music, especially the Grateful Dead.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Nell (Austin) Bainter.

Survivors include his wife, Toppy; stepchildren, Rachel Chaney, Newport Beach, California, Jason LaFollette (Traci, Houston, Texas; brother, Paul Bainter (Dotty, St. Joseph, Missouri; sister, Barbie Conrad (Mike, Atchison, Kansas; extended family and friends.

John, known to friends as Shrouty, 69, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020 of natural causes at Hospice House at NKC hospital.

He was born March 22, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri.

As a teenager, John worked summers as a camp and hiking instructor at Camp Carolina in Brevard, NC. He loved the time he spent there. He was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and an Eagle Scout. He loved being a 'child of the 60's, hitchhiking one summer across the Southwest.

John attended Central HS class of 69, graduated from MWSC with a BA in Psychology &amp; earned a Master’s from UCMO.

He married Marcia Adams in 1978. They were married for 39 1/2 years. She passed away in 2018.

John worked for several years at the St. Joseph State Hospital before moving to Menomonee, MI. He worked as a Clinical Phycologist, eventually returning to St. Joseph to spend time with family.

He was an eclectic reader. If you mentioned a topic or hobby, John rushed to buy a book about it so he could discuss it with you. He loved horse racing and music.

John was also preceded in death by his parents, Richard “Dick” and Dr. Ethel (Hester) Shrout.

He is survived by 3 stepchildren; Kelly Roumas (Kevin, Kathy McCray (Jeff, Jimmie Adams (Jennifer) from NC; grandchildren, Paige, Nick, Tim, Sidney, Cody, Shane, Cade; and 7 great-grandchildren

He was born May 26, 1937 in Bonner Springs, KS, son of the late Beryl and John Peters. He graduated from Benton High School class of 1955 and joined the Army National Guard serving for 34 years retiring in 1989. He married Margaret Lorene Crockett on September 21, 1956 at the Hyde Park 4 Square church. George was a Boiler Engineer at Seitz Foods. He was a Ford man who enjoyed mushroom hunting, deer hunting, mowing the lawn and especially time spent with his family. He attended The Life Church in St. Joseph, MO. 

George was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Lorene Peters, grandson, Brent M. Dragoo, his parents, brothers, Donald and Bill Peters, and a sister, Dorthy Morris. 

Survivors include, sons, Kevin (Linda) Peters, Barry (Jo) Peters, and daughter, Lori (Mike) Dragoo all of St. Joseph, MO, grandchildren: J.P. &nbsp; James Harrison Tittsworth Sr., 68, of Savannah, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020 at a Savannah Healthcare facility. 

He was born October 7, 1951 in St. Joseph, son of Wilma and Donald Tittsworth.. He married Delores Jagodzinski on December 23, 1980 in Savannah, MO. Jim retired after many years as a forklift operator at HPI and Sara Lee. He enjoyed fishing and baseball. He was an avid Atlanta Braves and Falcons fan. 

He was preceded in death by father, Donald Tittsworth, mother, Wilma Tittsworth and step-mother, Virginia Tittsworth.

Catherine "Katie" R. (Steele) Harris., 77, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully April 3, 2020, surrounded by her family.

Katie was born on August 2, 1942, in St. Joseph, to the late Frank and Margaret (Mathers) Steele.&nbsp; She is also preceded in death by sister, Patricia Nowak and brothers, Robert and Stephen Steele.&nbsp;

Katie married Frank Harris on January 17, 1964 in Troy, Kansas.&nbsp;

She retired from Hodson Cleaners after 40 years.&nbsp; She enjoyed sewing, cooking, horses, casino/bingo/lottery.&nbsp;

Surviving family:&nbsp; husband, Frank Harris; daughters, Alanda Downs, Catherine Thomas (Ronnie, Mamie Smith; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers Frank Jr. and Ronnie (Pat) Steele; sister, Rosie Whitten (Gary); best friends, Elsie and Diane.

She attended Pickett High School and worked at Wilhelm Realty.&nbsp;

She was also a homemaker and raised her six children.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Connie was a former member of&nbsp; Second Presbyterian Church and Hyde&nbsp; Park Presbyterian.

Survivors include her children, Jennifer B. Fletchall, Michelle R. Foutch, Mark S. Haynes (Vickie) Cynthia E. Haynes, Norma J. Haynes - Easton (Eric, Fonda K. Hilton; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Connie was formerly married to her children's father Virgil "Doc" Haynes, who passed away January of 2019.&nbsp; She was married to Orval Miller in 1981, and he passed away in February of 1995.

She was a very happy lady who greeted you with a big smile and often made you chuckle.&nbsp; She dearly loved her family, friends, her Bible, and cats.

Michael was born on January 31, 1957, in St. Joseph, Missouri to the late Robert W. and Rosa (Rouch) Kennedy.&nbsp; Additionally, he is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Sondra Blair; father-in-law, Larry Blair and brother-in-law and best friend, Bart Blair.&nbsp; What a joyous reunion in Heaven it will be!

On October 10, 1986 he married Tammy R. Blair.&nbsp; Mrs. Kennedy survives of the home with their special dog Peanut the Wonder Pup.&nbsp;

He is also survived by sister -in-law Tammy K. Blair; nieces Joelle Blair and Kaitlin Bullmaster.

Michael was employed with Altec, Snorkel and several other engineering companies.&nbsp; He was previously a member of Roadrunners Motorcycle Club and The Eagles.&nbsp; Michael enjoyed planes, trains, and automobiles.&nbsp; He liked reading about vintage WWII planes, flying R/C planes, collecting &nbsp;model railroad trains, taking historic train excursions and enjoying his classic Oldsmobile.&nbsp;

Terry Cline 74, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Monday March 30, 2020 in St. Joseph. 

He was born August 22, 1945 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was born of godly parents, the late Rose &amp; Charles Cline. He married Deborah Richey on November 16, 1974, and they shared 45 years of marriage together. He graduated from Benton High School class of 1963, then entered into the United States Air Force and is a Veteran of the Vietnam War. Terry retired from Friskies Pet Care upon its closing. In 2004, God granted Terry an additional 16 years of life on earth when he became the recipient of a heart transplant. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and was in charge of the Social Committee. Terry enjoyed bowling and once bowled a perfect 300 game! He was a member of VFW Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6760 where he served as Commander for the last 3 years and the VVA Vietnam Veterans of American of which he was a past Commander. 

Terry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Cline. 

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Cline of the home, daughters, Amy Cline, Chicago, IL. and Jennifer Cline, Tampa, Fl, and a brother, Charles (Brenda) Cline of St. Joseph.

Terry Dean Cline  1945 - 2020

Gordon “Keith” Mowry passed away after a brief and courageous battle with cancer on March 28, 2020.&nbsp; Keith was born in Graham, MO on September 26, 1943 to Leslie and Opal (nee Sybert) Mowry.&nbsp; After graduating from high school in 1961, Keith enlisted in the US Army where he began his aviation career.&nbsp; After completing flight training, Keith was assigned to the 18th&nbsp;Aviation Company where he served as pilot and crew chief flying the U-1A Otter for one tour in Viet Nam.

After Keith completed his military service, he married the love of his life, Marlene Wiley in 1966 and moved to Kansas City, MO to start a career at Braniff airlines as an operations agent.&nbsp; In 1968, Keith graduated from agricultural pilot training in Lubbock, TX and shortly after graduation, started his own ag flying and flight instruction business in Faucett, MO.&nbsp;

Keith was a Christian and combined his faith and passion for flying by volunteering as a missionary pilot and flying many challenging missions to Latin America to distribute bibles and medicine.&nbsp;

After several years of living in Texas, Keith and Marlene settled in Doniphan, Co Kansas where Keith worked as a corporate pilot with Biozyme, Inc. for 15+ years until his retirement in 2011.

Since retirement, Keith spent his time serving as a flight instructor and hunting and fishing. Keith had a positive impact on so many lives through his friendship, mentorship, ministry and 50 years as a flight instructor.&nbsp; Keith and Marlene regularly held bible studies in their home and loved to get together with friends and family.&nbsp; Keith was also a member of the Missouri Pilot’s Association and started a Veteran’s group at Rosecrans airport.

Keith was extremely giving, kind and understanding, a great listener, a great writer and truly a man of faith and utmost character.&nbsp; We will all miss him dearly but it gives us comfort to know that he is reunited with his Lord and Savior and beloved son, John.

Keith is survived by Marlene, his wife of 53 years and his daughters, Lynnette Huscher (Brent) and Sharla Mowry-Andres (Mark, one grandchild, one brother and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp; Keith was preceded in death by his son John, his parents and two sisters.&nbsp; Keith will be buried at the Oak Hill cemetery in Severance, KS.&nbsp; A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.&nbsp;

Keith had a positive impact on so many lives through his friendship, mentorship, ministry and 50 years as a flight instructor.&nbsp; Keith and Marlene regularly held bible studies in their home and loved to get together with friends and family.&nbsp; Keith was also a member of the Missouri Pilot’s Association and started a Veteran’s group at Rosecrans airport.Keith was extremely giving, kind and understanding, a great listener, a great writer and truly a man of faith and utmost character.&nbsp; We will all miss him dearly but it gives us comfort to know that he is reunited with his Lord and Savior and beloved son, John.Keith is survived by Marlene, his wife of 53 years and his daughters, Lynnette Huscher (Brent) and Sharla Mowry-Andres (Mark, one grandchild, one brother and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp; Keith was preceded in death by his son John, his parents and two sisters.&nbsp; Keith will be buried at the Oak Hill cemetery in Severance, KS.&nbsp; A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.&nbsp;In lieu of flowers, please send cards, letters and memories to&nbsp;P.O. Sharon (Knapp) Smith, 89, of St. Joseph, Missouri formerly of Arnold, Missouri died Sunday, March 29, 2020 at her daughters home in St. Joseph.

Sharon was born on February 23, 1931 in Evansville, Indiana to Norman and Madge (Chism) Knapp.&nbsp; She grew up in Evansville, Indiana but lived most of her married life in Arnold, Missouri.

Sharon married James Dewey Smith on Aug. 12, 1950.&nbsp; He preceded her in death in August of 2009.&nbsp; She was also preceded by her parents, a sister and 3 brothers and a son.

Sharon is survived by her daughter, Sondra Quick of St. Joseph, Missouri

Patricia L. “Patty” Lentz, (Waggoner, 70, of White Cloud, KS, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 30, 2020, at the Hiawatha Community Hospital.

Patty was born June 28, 1949, at Highland Hospital, to Henry E. “Bean” and Doris A. Collins Waggoner.&nbsp; She grew up in White Cloud, attended school there until she went on to graduated&nbsp; high school in Highland, KS.

She later married Larry D. Lentz on May 27, 1967, in Fanning, KS.&nbsp; There were married for 52 years and had two children:&nbsp; Jennifer and David.

Patty worked and retired from the University of Kansas after 20 years.&nbsp; She was formally a part of the Women’s Auxiliary, liked buying gifts for local families at Christmas, cooking, and serving food during the Flea Market.

She was an amazing cook and loved to bake.&nbsp; She would be baking up a storm to help supply the Legion with pies for the Flea Marker and making way too many sugar cookies at Christmas time.

Patty also loved spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Patty is survived by her husband Larry Lentz, her daughter Jennifer, granddaughter Kyla Cole, grandson Jordan Lentz and great grandson Keegan Cole, all of McLouth. KS; her son David (Amber) Lentz, her grandson Zachary Lentz, great-grandson Jace Lentz, great-granddaughter Emori Lentz, granddaughter Allison Lentz, great-grandson Braxton Winborn and great-granddaughter Anelia Winborn.

Other survivors include three brothers:&nbsp; Mike (Joyce) Waggoner of White Cloud, Charles (Nancy) Waggoner of Sedalia, MO, and John (MaryAnn) Waggoner of Falls City, NE.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Richard Waggoner, and a sister Jeanie Idol.

Patty will be cremated with no service at this time due to virus restrictions.&nbsp; A time of fellowship and memorial will be planned for a later time and date.

Bethie "Beth" Gale Dolman, 73, of St. Joseph, died March 30, 2020 at her home.&nbsp;

Bethie was born December 25, 1946, in Maryville, to Bill and Ruth (Kempf) Smith.&nbsp; She was one of the last seniors to graduate from Skidmore High School, and was a member of McCarthy Baptist Church.

She was a self employed beauty operator owning several shops in the St. Joseph area.

She married William J. Dolman, Sr. on January 23, 1970; and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son Christopher Dolman (Kerri); son David Dolman; twin granddaughters Lauren and Hailey; sisters Neva Nielson, Jessie Adams, Mandy Way; brother Donald Smith; other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Dolman was cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.

Col. David Louis Moyer, D.D.S., 57, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020 in a St. Joseph healthcare facility.

He was born September 11, 1962 to David and Delores (Valencia) Moyer in St. Joseph, Missouri.

He was a Dental Director for Swope Health. He graduated from LeBlond High School in 198o. He earned his degree of dental science from Georgetown University.

David enjoyed playing music and being with his son.

He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and active with Bishop LeBlond and the Knights of Columbus #5067. He was also a member of the American Dental Association and Missouri Dental Association. Additionally, David was a retired Military Officer Association member and Colonel in the US Air Force, where he served as dental flight commander for 12 years. David was with the 442d Fighter Wing at Whitman Air Force Base.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Moyer.

Survivors include girlfriend, Svetlana Rajsic; mother, Delores Moyer, of St. Joseph, Missouri; brother, Daniel Moyer, of St. Joseph, Missouri; son, David Moyer, of St. Joseph, Missouri; and numerous cousins, extended family and friends.

She was born December 29, 1941 in St. Joseph, daughter of the late Juanita &amp; Claude Wattenbarger. She married the love of her life Rev. Charles Ellis and he survives of the home. She graduated from Lafayette High School and worked at American Family Insurance she also owned a day care, and was a homemaker. She loved cooking, singing, her church and her family. 

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, daughters, Misty Lea Cline, and Cynthia Pribil. 

Survivors include: husband, Rev. Charles "Chuck" Ellis, son, Chuck (Milissa) Ellis III, Ogalala, NE, daughter, Melissa (James) Welter, St. Joseph, grandsons, Dustin Ellis, Mike (Alisha) Ellis and Kristopher Ellis, granddaughters, Samantha (Joe) Brenner and Kylea Ellis, 3 great grand daughters 1 great grandson.

Charles "Charlie" Kerby, 78, of Helena, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020 in at a Maysville Mo health care facility. 

He was born January 18, 1942 in Carrollton, MO, son of the late Marie and Kenneth Kerby. He graduated from Bogard School. He married Sara Bozarth on December 22, 1972 and she survives of the home. He enjoyed Camping and devoting his time to help others. Charlie was a member of Hale Masonic Lodge, 32nd degree Mason, having earned his 50 year pin, Scottish Rite, Helena Lions Club and served several years as a Trustee for Hideaway Lakes and Copeland Baptist Church.
