Audrey “Jolene” Reynolds, 78, of Fairview, passed away August 2, 2020 at Maple Heights, Hiawatha KS.

She was born September 23rd, 1941 to Virgil &amp; Fern (Brown) Bunch in Barnard, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp; Jolene grew up at the Barnard-Lincoln communities where she attended school and graduated from Lincoln High School.&nbsp;

Jolene married Paul Reynolds, May 5, 1990 at Fairview.&nbsp; She worked a number of years for USD #415 at Hiawatha, in the cafeteria at the grade and high schools, and later for Sac &amp; Fox Casino of Fairview.&nbsp; They have made their home at Fairview where Paul survives.

Also surviving are 2 sons, Ronald &amp; Tim McPherson of Fairview, KS; 2 stepsons, Paul Reynolds, Jr (Penny) of Alexandria, VA &amp; Wade Reynolds (Injee) of Naples, Italy; stepdaughter,&nbsp; Leisa Lammers (Stephen) Muskogee, OK; grandchildren &amp; great-grandchildren; one brother, Russell Bunch (Barbara) of Kanopolis, KS; and a sister, Jeannie Fuqua of Garden City, KS.

She is preceded in death by Mac McPherson &amp; Paul Clark; her parents; one brother, Dick Bunch; and five sisters, Beth Ann Gamble; Ardith Modrow; Edna Ryan, Judy Shroeder, and Melba Bunch.

Jolene enjoyed her family, camping at the lake, her flowers, and occasional trips to the casino.

Patricia Ann (Idol) Rosenberger, 85, of Highland, with family by her side passed away peacefully at her home, Sunday afternoon, August 2, 2020.

Pat was born August 13, 1934, one of five children to Paul and Thelma (Taylor) Idol at the family home near White cloud.&nbsp; Pat was a lifelong resident of the area where she attended Hilltop Grade School and Reserve High School.&nbsp; At the age of 16, she married her soul mate Gerald Rosenberger at Manhattan Bible College, Manhattan, KS on April 28, 1951.

She was a member of the White Cloud Christian Church and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #233.

Highlights of her life was her husband “Fed” of 69 years, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.&nbsp; If they had an activity or sporting event you can bet she would be there and be classified as their number one fan.&nbsp; Her family always asked her to make her infamous cinnamon rolls and if you were one of the lucky, she would make taffy.

Surviving are her children:&nbsp; Randall Rosenberger (Delinda) of Atchison, Dedra Bunck (Bob) of Everest, grandchildren:&nbsp; Branson Rosenberger (Terri) of Troy, Nikia Weber (Jeff) of Atchison, Lindsey Miller (Tyler) of Wathena, Bobbie Ann Jacobson (Charlie) of Towanda, Brice Bunck (Allison) of Topeka, Bailey Lanter (Michael) of Everest.&nbsp; Great-grandchildren include Cassidy, Caden Rosenberger, Griffin, Emerson Weber, Bryer, Brailee, Bentlee, Barrett Miller, Spencer Rose, Eli, Brett Violet, Duke Jacobson, Cole, Tenly, Sawyer Creighton Bunck, Tiffin and Beckett Lanter.&nbsp; Also surviving is a brother Paul Idol (Cloeva) of Topeka.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerald “Fed” Rosenberger June 19, 2020, brothers:&nbsp; Martin, Harold (Bud) Idol, and a sister Mary Drake.

William “Bill” A. Fuhrman, 88, of Severance, Kansas, passed away August 1, 2020.

Bill was born on October 16, 1931 in Atchison, Kansas, to Albert &amp; Angela (Joyce) Fuhrman.&nbsp; He grew up on a farm and graduated from Severance High School in 1949. In 1951 he joined the Kansas Army National Guard and in 1952 was drafted into the U.S. Air Force. Bill attended the U.S. Air Force Cadet School in Enid, Oklahoma and after graduating and receiving his wings, he married Joan Franken on March 17, 1954 at the Cathedral in St. Joseph, Mo.&nbsp; He was active in the Air Force until 1957.&nbsp; Bill continued to fly by joining the Missouri Air National Guard at Rosecrans in 1959 until retiring as Lt. Colonel in 1982. Over his career he piloted 14 different types of aircraft which took him and his “Black Cat Crew” on missions to all parts of the world. Bill ended his career flying C-130’s but his favorite plane to fly was a KC-97L.

&nbsp;After the Air Force in 1957 Bill and Joan returned to farming.&nbsp; While farming and flying Bill found ways to give back to his community. He was a member of St Benedict’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Severance Council #675 for 69 years, Midway Meadowlarks 4-H leader, Wolf River Watershed Board and Wolf River Township Trustee, Doniphan County Commissioner, Farm Credit Board of Directors for 37 years, NEK-Cap Inc. Director, and the Doniphan Co. Fire District #2 Board for 30 yrs.

Bill felt blessed to be able to farm with three of his sons and a grandson who continue to farm.

Bill had a good sense of humor and never met a stranger. He was proud that all his children graduated from college and he became a big K-State fan. Loved watching the Royals, college sports, old westerns, bowling, playing cards and going to the casino. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Patricia Erdley and Donna Manyon, son-in-law Jeff Caton.

He is survived by his wife Joan and 7 children, Al (Nancy), Jeff (Brenda), Susan (Marshall) Willey, Cindy (Steve) Krug, Laura Caton, Matt (Beth), &amp; Chuck. Bill has 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Mary Teresa Scheetz (Wieland), 88, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully on July 30, 2020.

She was born on July 2, 1932 in Norton, Kansas. Cherished wife of William (Bill) Scheetz, Sr. Beloved mother of Jan O’Halloran, Suzi Killion, Patty (Amos) Donaldson and Bill (Paige) Scheetz, Jr. Loving grandmother of Harry O’Halloran, Elizabeth Pitre, Ryan O’Halloran, Angela Niemann, David Scheetz, Casey Finn, Brendan Donaldson, Shannon Carter and Brett Donaldson. Loving great-grandmother to seven.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Mary Wieland, her three brothers, Albert (Abe), Joseph and John (Jackie), her husband, Bill Scheetz, Sr., along with her daughter, Suzi Killion, and grandson, David Scheetz.

She was a long-time resident of St. Joseph, Missouri and Sun City West, Arizona.&nbsp; Mary embraced life and loved people and she was loved by all who knew her. She spent decades teaching elementary school students and enjoyed every moment.&nbsp;

She and her husband, Bill, traveled the world, relishing each new adventure. She was a woman of great faith and the loving matriarch of her family. The joy and vitality of her life will be deeply missed but remembered always.

Kathie was a member of the Yoga Class at Munchic Art Gallery, attended Bible Study at Atchison Senior Village, and enjoyed crocheting, needlework, cross stitch, visiting with friends on facebook, and especially her grandson. Geraldine “Jeri” Marguerite Childs Tillison joined her family members in heaven on August 2, 2020 at the age of 90. 

Born on December 2, 1929 in Saint Joseph, Missouri to Thurman Leo and Nellie Mae (Modie) Childs. 

Jeri is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Harriet Boyer, Nellie Boyer, Nancy Jacobs, Thurman “Bill” Childs, and a son, Joe Michael Tillison.

Jeri is survived by her husband, Joe Manley Tillison; daughters, Kathy Sprague Morgan (Terry), Karen Conrad Willoughby (Tim), Lyanne Tillison Langerock (Keith), and son, Jeff Sprague (Julie Hollars). She is blessed with a family which spans five generations of children, grandchildren, Melissa Newman, Paula Newman, Shawn Sprague, Chad Sprague, Vincent Crowley, Ivy Reger, Micah Baker, Tara Dodge, Melanie Fish and her great and great-great grandchildren.

With her family and friends, Jeri shared her love of nature; gardening, camping, fishing, taking walks. Jeri taught her children and grandchildren a respect and appreciation for all living things. She shared that appreciation with others through her volunteer work as a lifelong Girl Scout. Jeri and her husband, Manley, lived and worked at the residential Girl Scout Camp Woodland in Albany for 34 years until retiring to town in 2004. She loved books, had a quick sense of humor, liked numbers, puzzles, card games, dancing, and a good cup of coffee. Mostly, Jeri found great joy in sharing time and hearing the laughter of her family. She celebrated anything that made her children, grandchildren, and grand-children happy. Along with her hobbies and passions, Jeri served as the Housekeeping and Environmental Services Director at Gentry County Memorial Hospital, now Mosaic Medical Center, Albany, until her retirement. She was a caregiver, not just to her family when they needed comfort and care, but to her mother and Aunt Doran Modie in her home at the end of their lives. She was a bookkeeper to her family’s businesses, helped manage her granddaughter’s store, and a full-time volunteer at the Bookworm Bargains bookstore in Albany.

Carolyn loved her children and granddaughter beyond measure.

Don Michael “Mike” Hux, Jr., 52, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020.

He was born March 28, 1968 to Don Michael Sr. and Marilyn Roseanne (Drake) Hux in St. Joseph, Missouri. Mike married Tracy Osborn October 17, 1987. Together they shared 32 years of marriage. Mike enjoyed helping people and making them laugh. His granddaughters were his pride and joy. Before his passing, he wanted to see his daughter get a liver transplant and was able to do so.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and sister-in-law.

Survivors include Tracy Hux, wife; children, Ashley A., Amanda and Justin Hux (Ashley D.); grandchildren, Adelyn “Addy”, Alizabeth “Ally” and Peyton Hux; parents, Don and Marilyn Hux; Brother, Shane Hux (Nichole); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tim Osborn (Laura), Todd Osborn (Sondra), Jeff Glidewell; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was born May 12, 1930 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Fay and Jewell Meyer. She graduated from Benton high school and married Bobby Knowles on August 19, 1959 in Troy Kansas. She worked at Whitaker Cable and Quaker Oats and retired from St. Joseph Packaging. She enjoyed boating at Lake Contrary, and Lake of the Ozarks, going to the casino, watching Royals baseball and Chiefs football, and going to the chili cookoff with Bobby. She was a member of the Grace Evangelical Church. 

Virginia was preceded in death by husband, Bobby Lee Knowles, father, Jewell Meyer, mother, Fay Meyer, and by Eva Meyer the mother who raised her. sons, Bobby Dean Knowles, Terry Knowles, and Terry Seek, daughter Sharon Sansonetti, and her sister, Peggy Salvin.

He was born January 21, 1946 in St. Joseph, Missouri, son of the late Mona Nolan &amp; Jack McQuiston. Bob and Anita (Totten) McQuiston were married July 10th 1965, and she survives of the home. He retired after 40 years from the Cement Mason Union 518 of Kansas City as a Cement Mason. He enjoyed golfing, riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, watching grandkids playing sports and any activity, and spending time with his family and friends at Duncan Hills Golf Club. Robert was known for his great sense of humor and wanting everyone to be happy. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Everett McQuiston, mother and step father, Mona and J.W. Nolan, brother, Joseph McQuiston, and sister, Jackie McQuiston. 

He is survived by wife, Anita McQuiston of the home, son, R.C. (Tami) McQuiston, daughter, Jeanette (Craig) Gillette both of St. Joseph, MO, four grandchildren: Zachary Gillette, Isaac, Jacob and Delaney McQuiston, brothers, Jay (Barb) Nolan, Rick Nolan, and Randy Nolan, sisters, Debbie Thomas, and Carla Nolan.

Virginia Teresa Girard 88, of St. Joseph, MO passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020 in St. Joseph, MO. 

She was born December 30, 1931 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Catherine and James Halter. She graduated from Convent of the Sacred Heart High School, class of 1949. She worked at Truman Middle School in food service, she also was a homemaker. Virginia enjoyed making rosaries, and sent them to over seas Catholic missions, she also enjoyed crocheting, and praying at the MIR house of prayer. She was a former member of St. Patricks Catholic Church, and a member of St. James Catholic Church. 

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Girard, her parents, a daughter, Phyllis Girard, brothers, James M. and Rev. Robert Halter, sisters, Mary Catherine Brott and Rose Wilde, grandson, Daniel P. Cline in 1989, and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth A. Ramirez in 2010. 

Survivors include daughters, Christine Weese, Janet Gibbons, Bernadette (Andrew) Gilbert, Elizabeth (Patrick) Cline, and Lisa (Jeff) Reed, son, Richard (Faith) Girard, all of St. Joseph, MO., sisters, Beverly Kowalczyk, Overland Park, KS, Margaret (John) Gach, and Helen (Herman) Grable of St. Joseph, 17 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren.

He was born April 6, 1950 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Bonny and Richard Danner Sr. He graduated from Benton High School, Class of 1968. He worked at Nestle's for over 30 years, and  the East Hills Shopping Center in the Maintenance Department. He enjoyed reading, puzzles, collecting Santa Clause's, and owls. 

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Richard Jr., and Randy Danner, and a sister, Bonny Lyn Gabriel.

Fermin Landin Hernandez, 93, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020 at the home of his daughter Anita in St. Joseph surrounded by loved ones. 

He was born July 7, 1927 in Horton, KS, son of Albina and Juan Hernandez. He married Margaret Stief on May 7, 1949, she preceded him in death. He was a US Navy Veteran, serving on the USS Texas. He later worked at Dugdale Packing Plant for 32 years until the plant closed. Some of Fermin's hobbies included, playing golf, reading, collecting coins, and he loved playing checkers. He was a family man, very dedicated to his faith and loved to pray. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. 

Fermin was preceded in death by wife, Margaret June Hernandez in 2019, son, Fermin Hernandez II, father, Juan Martinez Hernandez, and mother, Albina Hernandez. 

Survivors include children, Joseph Michael (Patricia) Hernandez of St. Louis, MO, Theresa (Cecil) Hernandez-White of St. Joseph, Thomas (Jodi Branson) Hernandez of St. Joseph, Anita (Rick) Garvey of St. Joseph, Mary Helen (Jerry) Burgess of St. Joseph, Anthony (Debra) Hernandez of Thornton, CO, Jerome (Kathryn) Hernandez of St. Joseph, Steven (Mona) Hernandez of Nashville, TN, James (Laurie) Hernandez of Russellville, AR, 33 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Patricia Louise (Garrett) Korell died Friday, July 24, 2020 at Diversicare of St. Joseph Healthcare. She was surrounded by her family and caregivers.

She was the daughter of Bertle James and Ramona Holmes Garrett and was born September 8, 1926 in Sioux City, Iowa. She married Billy Korell April 20, 1946 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. He preceded her in death February 24, 2020. They would have celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary in April. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for approximately 80 years where she was a past president of the Women’s Guild and many women’s circles. She graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph in 1944 and worked as a homemaker. She also worked as a secretary at various places including St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was involved in her family’s events until Alzheimer’s Disease prevented her. She was a school home room mother, a scout mother, and a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She also was a duplicate bridge player.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter Morgan Wall and her sisters Virginia (Garrett) Beach and Berta (Garrett) Archdekin.

She is survived by her son, Ken and wife Donna; son, Jim and wife Debi; and daughter, Billie Sue Wall and husband, Greg. John Wayne Johnston, 76, Osborn, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020.

He was born October 8, 1943 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Cecil and Hazel (Robinson) Johnston. John was a member of RLDS Church. He enjoyed music, family, traveling, food and the Kansas City Chiefs.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

John Wayne Johnston  1943 - 2019

Lawrence Joseph Burns passed away in his home July 27th, 2020.&nbsp; "Larry" was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph, born to parents George and Elizabeth (Danaher) Burns in June of 1925.&nbsp; He attended St. Francis Xavier grade school and Christian Brothers High School before joining the Navy in World War II.&nbsp; He served as a gunner in a PBY torpedo bomber in the then famous "Black Cats of the South Pacific" squadrons.

Larry worked at Armour's packing house after the war and remained a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Parish.&nbsp; He was married to his wife Joyce for 56 years before she passed away in 2013.&nbsp; He was an avid fisherman and never passed up the chance to sit in on a poker game with friends.&nbsp;

He is preceded in death by his wife Joyce, brothers Norman, Quentin, George and Charles, and sisters Jean Thomas and Teresa Mann, and grandson David Lee Burns.

He is survived by his brother Martin and sons Brian Geoffrey and David Andrew Burns (wife, Jennifer).

The family will receive friends 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Monday, August 3, 2020 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.&nbsp; Rosary and Prayer Service to follow the visitation in our chapel.

The family extends its deepest appreciation to the staff at Freudenthal Hospice Care and personal caregivers who provided vital support at his home over the last few months of his life.

Ralph Michael “Mike” Hurtig, 69 of Parkville, MO (formerly of Troy &amp; Marion, KS), died Monday, July 27, 2020 after a long illness.

He was born in Concordia, KS on June 11, 1951 and was the son of Patricia A. Butcher (Hurtig) Duncan &amp; Ronald L. Hurtig. Ralph attended Wathena Grade School, Wathena, KS &amp; Troy Grade School and is a 1970 graduate of Troy High School of Troy, KS. Mr. Hurtig was a proud veteran and served in the U.S. Army from 1970-1980 and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany before being stationed at Fort Sill, OK. He was a Staff Sergeant and earned many commendation medals and was highly respected in his field of expertise. He worked as a Tactical Field Wireman, Wire Team Chief, Chief of Howitzer and Assistance Platoon Sergeant and was recommended for NCOES and NCOA. Mike enjoyed many outdoor hobbies such as camping, fishing, and hunting and traveling with his family &amp; friends. He often was known for giving the ‘shirt’ off his back or his last dollar to help strangers or those who were in need.

He was preceded in death by his natural father, Ronald L. Hurtig; stepfather, Earl G. Duncan; sister, Susan Hurtig (Burkhart) and a stepbrother, Tim Hassenplug.

Survivors include his mother, Patricia A. Duncan, Parkville, MO; siblings, Kathy Silvey (Carl), Decatur, TX, Debbie Watson (Craig), Parkville, MO, Randy Duncan, Salina, KS. Delbert L. Furrer, 83, Savannah, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020.

He was born March 10, 1937 to Clifford and Eleanor (Bergum) Furrer in Monroe, Wisconsin. Delbert married Emma L. Kasper September 12, 1959. They shared 61 years of marriage. He was a salesman for Do It Best and travelled to sell hardware. Additionally, he served in the Army for 2 years. Delbert enjoyed the occasional nap, watching softball games and spending time with his grandkids, whom he loved dearly. He was also a good Christian.

Survivors include wife, Emma Furrer, of the home; children, Angie Furrer of Olathe, Kansas and Jeff Furrer (Lori) of Baldwin, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Kayla and Ashley Furrer; siblings, Duane, Darold, David, Don, Dean, Janice, Jean; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Marian Abernethy, 90, of St. Joseph, passed away July 28, 2020.&nbsp; Marian was born August 6, 1929, in Edgerton, MO, to James Isaac and Sylvia (Jackson) Johnson.

Marian married Billy Joe Abernethy on June 15, 1947.&nbsp; In 1976 they started Bill's Camper&nbsp; Sales.&nbsp; She retired in 1992.

Survivors include a son Ronnie Abernethy (Billie); daughter Linda Anderson (Mike); four grandchildren, Krista Abernethy, Becky Lahey, Justin Anderson (Karri), Eric Anderson (Miranda); six great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and seven sisters.

Marian enjoyed her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.

Visitation will be Friday, July 31, 2020, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.&nbsp; Services will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home.&nbsp; Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
